Please, Tori's runs'structure is wayyy more simple. They are either ascending runs through half an octave and then down to low note or descending ones that end with a nice falsetto or head voice note at the end. Her mix is good, but her placement prevents her from utilising that part of the voice. She always placed her upper belts in the mask but in a very forceful way, which is not wrong, just not optimal because that seriously impedes freedom and agility. Whisper voice-mariah trademark, is actually a method to make your voice more flexible as the vocal folds abducting would allow more air through and hence the voice is lighter, easier to do melisma (however that comes with the cost of drying your voice and causing hoarseness in the belting register over long period of time). She can also do amazing runs in the whistle register, which is far more difficult to control, as evident from jojo, an amazing riffer but cant control her whistles. And as far as musicality and creativity are concerned, mariah has virtually no match in pop

Her run she did in rehearsal with Boyz II Men is RIDICULOUS especially with how effortless it was. She was just like, "Oh, yeah. That's cool, lemme try." Special mention to Christina Aguilera- her runs are usually kinda sloppy and not so agile, but her first one here is fucking incredible!

Whitney was better at dynamics imo! That’s just my opinion. Whitney’s Head voice couldn’t be touched! She may not have had the range that Mariah had but she was a master of control and precision!
