    The simplicity of the Sketchup tools usage is what makes it a great piece of software
    Thanks Aaron

    Hi, thanks for another great video! I have one question: What does it take to get a loge onto the face of a building - doing a geometry of it?
    Keep up the good work:-)

    This is Sketch Up at its worst. It would be better to remove this feature altogether and just let a third party developer make an editable 3D text tool than have this half baked feature on software with an annual license.

    Loved this video! As always I learned something new. One question, is there a way to change the outline color for the text? For example, when I am working on something that is a black background but the text is simply outlined in white I can't figure out how to change it. Thanks any suggestions.

    I enjoyed this video Aaron, and for a moment thought it would be a solution to my desire to apply 2D text to faces in my model by extruding out the tiniest amount.
    But, if I'm not mistaken, the functionality you demonstrated in this video is not available to users of the web version of SketchUp.
    More and more I'm wishing I had plunked down the extra $ for the desktop version.

    Two questions that are similar, how can I get control of ether the number of "unhide and undelete" interactions? I am trying to simulate through scenes, the assembly of a geodesic by first hiding, one by one and then revealing them one by one to simulate the assembly of the geodesic. If you could direct me in the right direction it would be a big help. Thank you. from Jim.

    Aaron, When I explode, the text and it's not extruded or filled, not all the lines from the text are 'merged' with the plane they were attached to. In the example you show in this video, you can see it didn't work completely on yours either. The center of the O and the center of the e are darkened, because they are not on the surface. I used the word Stuff when doing this example while watching your video and only the U and first F worked. I'd place an image here, but don't know how to do that.

      I have had this same problem but here is a solution I found helpful. Group the part of the text that isn't merging ( for example the the lines on the inside of a zero ) then explode that group. The lines should now merge. A bit of a pain if you have a ton of text but hope it helps you.

    Can you fold the text around a corner, like your last "text" entry on the chamfered face?

    • @jimurbano1016
      @jimurbano1016 3 года назад

      As far as I know? No you cannot. Since Sketch Up breaks all the surfaces into tiny single planes the text will constantly try to find a "flat face" to stick to. So if you think of your text as a simple rectangle (which is kind of is) then you cannot bend that rectangle. I have messed around with the True Bend plug in but it does not work that well when you try to determine where you want the text to go. But it was a fun experiment so thanks for the question! Hope this helped.

      @@jimurbano1016 thanks for the reply. I'll have a little experimentation with it and let you know if I get anywhere.
