More income is the most underrated thing. Most people always say save and live below your means instead of asking how can I save more and live the life I want.
Spend your money wisely-invest in quality where it counts, for it often outlasts the cost of cheapness. Yet, remember that sometimes the simplest, least expensive option is the real gem in disguise.
I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 53 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. After 3 years, I am 56 yo and have put $9,000 in an IRA and $40,000 in my portfolio with CFA, Stephanie Janis Stiefel. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150,000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.
@@MosheerEllyGreat share! Out of curiosity, I searched Stephanie Janis Stiefel online, found her consulting page ranked at the top, and scheduled a call session. I've read many reviews about advisors, but none seem as impressive as hers.
Good idea, now find some cheap hobbies to use your time on to get un-depressed. I like cleaning, recycling, organizing things, watching youtube videos, and dumpster diving. Not coincidentally these are all free things !
When you already got a life payed for by your income, yeah it's pretty easy to save. Most people don't have a life payed for by there income there still like 2 full-time jobs short of being able to afford life with just there income.
@@seththecat9317It’s tough out there, but don’t give up. I had to cancel literally all subscriptions. Cancel my internet plan. Cancel my phone plan replacing it with a limited internet but unlimited call/text plan Pull out all my cash from the bank and put it in an envelope portfolio to stop impulse debit purchases. Made a shopping list every time and paid extra for pickup to avoid impulse. Absolutely no eating out, my list consisted of 5lb bag of rice (1x every 2 weeks) 3.5 lbs “6 8oz servings” chicken breasts (1x per week) (Leg quarters are much cheaper but they are messy and I hate cooking them :p) 5lb dried black beans (1x every 2 weeks) 4 Avocados (1x week) 3 ears of corn (1x week) Jar of cheap mayonnaise (whenever needed, like 1-2 per month) Cayenne (bought once but never needed to buy more) Sesame Seeds (1x month)
With this I could make a delicious rice bean and chicken cantina bowl with spicy mayo and sesame seeds on top 😋 A friend also gave me this huge bag of cheap protein powder from Costco that I’ll have for breakfast, and every few weeks I like to splurge on some steak, milk, and eggs ❤
Using this plan I am attacking my debts from smallest to largest. I’ve paid off my old phone which I resold, my television, and my mattress after 8 months 💪 Doing this has snowballed my money because I’m not making payments on those things anymore. In another 3 months I’ll be done paying off my car 😎 Once I’m done with that I plan on saving to buy a real estate agent certification ~300$ which will be ezpz without my car payment and save to pay desk fees and start working
After that, gonna save up 6 months of expenses for an emergency fund, and then invest in the s&p 500 every month and maybe save up to get sales training for my realestate career ☀️
Every dollar saved is $1 verses every additional dollar made is significantly less after income taxes, sales taxes, effects of lifestyle creep, etc. Great video!
Not really. When I was sole provider for my little family of two small kids and their mom. We lived in a rented mobile home and I had a $400/mo car note. All on my $43k income. I saved $50 every payday by opening a second bank account and direct depositing it in there. I didn't even track how much was in there. After a few years I had a couple thousand saved and that gave me the confidence to move in a different direction with my career. Out of retail and into industrial maintenance. I make over 100k a year now without formal education. Its saving that's the key to success. Even in small amounts. The big paychecks will come later if you're not worried about living paycheck to paycheck.
@Tetus7, that's the mentality that will keep you stuck! My income hasn't increased in the past two years, and I've been able to get out of debt . In about two weeks, I'll have my very first paycheck all to myself. Making more than you spend DOES NOT EQUAL to making a lot.
Hey! A big fan of your videos. Am wondering if you can create more videos about people that already save enough money every month like an advanced video for advanced people?
just turned 41 and awfully late to investing with barely any portfolio except my 401k, I have a decent amount of cash saved up and with inflation currently soaring AGAIN, I’m getting worried about retirement, my intention is to retire at 65 atleast, so how best do I maximize my savings of over $500k
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.
I’m a contractor, and my job doesn’t permit me the time to properly analyze my holdings/evaluate stocks myself, so I’ve had a fiduciary actively restructuring my portfolio for the past 7 years now to match the present market condition and that’s how I’ve been able to stay afloat, knowing when to buy and sell…maybe you should do the same.

I Hit 110k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started last month 2024. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject. thanks to Brittany Utley for helping me achieve this.
My BFFs buy things when they're sad! They always say they don't have money and 'only break even' every month, and it drives me CRAZY! If they just stopped doing that (and budgeted) like I tell them, they'd have SO much more money! I can guarantee it! But they don't listen, even though I've OFFERED to help SO many times, and it's SO frustrating! Meanwhile, I'm over here like a dragon with my money, as they affectionately call it! I virtually NEVER spend anything without needing to, besides video games, and even those, I ONLY buy on SUPER good sales (and EVEN THEN, haven't done that in months 'cause I'm trying to get through more of my backlog first)! X'D
It would be great if somebody could explain how to calculate budget for 1 person of 4 persons family. I truly don't know how to calculate food eaten, electricity consumed and t-shirts that are worn by 1+ family members. And it's definitely not take all expenses and divide by 4.
I can not speak for most since I’m still living at home but I’m 19 in college with a side job and I’m using a strategy from riches man in Babylon where you divide it as 70/20/10 and it’s working awesome I have even pushed it stricter to 50/20/20 but working out a system like this for you’re personal life can help tremendously (70/20/10 means 70% on monthly expenses 20% on debt and 10% on investments)
I'm saving 92% of my salary. Both of my flats are bought for cash so no debt at all. No car - I mostly take public transportation. I don't eat out - cook home and I'm a vegetarian that eats one meal a day (that's all my body requires). I more or less free of compulsions and make a conscious choice every minute, before every purchase. I do buy occasional treats if I really want to (but it is rare when I really do want anything). I don't try to impress anyone and I'm very picky as to who do I hang out with (very few quality people). I don't allow anyone including my family to influence any decision I make. All of that 94% saved money goes to buy Vanguard S&P 500 (VOO) and flexible bank deposits that pay 25% p.a. (I'm based outside US), and that I can withdraw at any point of time leaving a small minimum required balance.
As a person who has a network of $182k at age 26 with a passive income of $800-$900 a month. Do not listen to this guy. Your personal finances will suck until you master this formula: Spend less than you earn. It's simple but not easy for most people.
I save 75% of my income and am depressed asf. Can’t enjoy life today. Hoarding it all for the future
Don't do that! Spend at least 10% of the saved money for something meaningful for now! You're still saving 65% and enjoying a lot more in the now.
Sounds like you need to find a balance, dude!
