      >>> Well if Troy was trying to do TODAY'S Harrison Ford who is 81 years old, you'd be correct. But he's trying to do Harrison Ford circa 1984 here and he's doing a great job.
I also went back and re-watched scenes from Raiders and then went and listened to Troy Baker's impression here and there's barely any difference.

      >>> If it's 81 year old Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill knocks it out of the park with his impression.
But here's the problem with your claim : We're talking about voicing the Harrison Ford of the Raiders era where he was YOUNGER and as good as Mark is at doing the Joker or whatever other impressions he can do, he can't defeat Father Time and sound younger than he is.

It looks high budget cause it has motion-captured faces and detailed 3d assets, but it looks like indie cause it is a walking simulator with puzzles and awkward fights, clunky animations, and bad "vertex weights" if you know what that means, the jacket moves like plaido. It is on rails cause all the scenarios look like a tunnel. City, river, catacomb, archeological site, mountain, or forest, all the maps have a barrier on the left and the right cause it's a tunnel with no options. On top of that, The Great Circle of Ancient Sites is an old debunked pseudo-archeologists idea that looks dumb now, they couldn't find something original connected to something that is still a mystery. This whole drama regarding the game being first person instead of the usual third person perspective is so dumb. They did the same thing with Resident EVil 7 adopting a first person view and complained about it, but guess what? RE7 launched, it was acclaimed as one of the best if not THE best Resident Evil game ever made and everyone agreed that the first person perspective made the game way more immersive and terrifying. It all boils down to people suffering in anticipation, really. Gamers are entitled and whiny and it will keep being like this for a long while.

    • @SevKast_7

To add to this, im pretty sure if they made the game completely third person people would still complain that they're ''ripping off'' Uncharted or Tomb Raider instead of trying to be more original and also complain that they chose a studio known for a First Person experience rather than a third person experience. So it's whatever, they would complain either way!

Honestly couldn't care less about the camera perspective choice.
My issue is: since this game's story cannot (its literally impossible) be meaningful or contribute in arc overall to the Indiana character due to the fact that A) it's complete and B) the other material won't acknowledge or reflect the character since it's working between pre-existing writing cues. Old IPs like Star Wars and the MCU are having massive issues with this sort of thing without the proper introduction of new fresh characters and timelines.
This essentially means before even making the game the odds are stacked against the devs. The other components (gameplay, set pieces etc...) have to overperform massively for the game to really hit the mark. Looks cool and love Machine Games as well as Indy so here's hoping for the best.

let's be honest it being 1st person is not a choice, it's because they had no talents for 3rd person and probably a budget cut on animations.
Playing already established icons like Indiana Jones in 1st person makes litteraly no sense.
Would you rather play Darth Vador in 1st person or in 3rd person if you had the choice ? Looks more like a VR experience to me.

I'm super interested in playing this... I'm a huge fan of Indiana Jones (especially the original trilogy of movies) and modern games are the PERFECT medium to bring more actual high quality Indiana Jones stories to the table, regardless of Harrison Ford's age! You can tell ANY story you want in games. Super cool that they've modeled Ford into this and I really hope the story lives up to the heights of the original 3 movies. Indiana Jones had that perfect blend of action, historical setting and lore, comedy, and even a bit of supernatural.
I must admit that I was really surprised to find out that it's a 1st person perspective game, because I too now prefer 3rd person games (to be able to enjoy the look and animations of the main character). But I agree with Luke here that MachineGames are MASTERS of 1st person action, and it does immediately differentiate this game from Uncharted (which itself copied Indiana Jones' style) - and that's important. Lastly, MachineGames does an epic job of portraying evil Nazi villains (in their Wolfenstein games) so I'm sure here they'll do an amazing job at that here too.

Modern games aren't...since a lot of modern games are bad. I'll be very surprised if this is better than the 2003 Indy game. Where you can disarm enemies with a whip, smash people through various map objects, then use the pieces of said object as a weapon, an amazing brawler combat system, good traps and a good / difficult but fair health system. Since this is a 2024 game and it's designed for "everyone" it means it'll probably play itself like the Sony games and newerTomb Raiders and will be stupidly easy.
      Hope I'm wrong though.
The 03 title "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb" was a great title aswell, "Great Circle" could have been a little more creative, like "Circle of the Ancients" or something.
I'm super stoked to get another Indy game, but I REALLY hope it's good, because I sort of see this as a do or die moment for the franchise, since the movies haven't exactly done well.

    • @CobraF1

@@mikewazowski8368 I totally agree with you. A lot of games nowadays are packed with "filler" content rather than focusing on a great story and gameplay. So yes let's hope this one will be a good one...
I've only played a couple of Indiana Jones games in the past. But now you've got me intrigued about the 2003 Indiana game... I'll have to try it 👍
And yes... I agree that the title of this game - The Great Circle - sounds too simple, like a kids' story. Your suggested version is way better. An Indiana title should have an epic, legendary or historic sound.

I do recommend giving it a playthrough it's called Indiana Jones and the Emperors tomb, you could even watch it on youtube if you can't get it to work on your system. The combat is a little clunky at times, but it's very fun and given the limitation of the hardware it was on at the time it was pretty good. The soundtrack is VERY good, the story is solid definitely better than the later movies, though it does lean pretty heavily into some supernatural stuff towards the later half of the game, but most importantly its got very solid gameplay and really nails the indy adventure vibe. Even has a bunch of hidden relics throughout the areas that you can find if you look, and complete a trophy cabinet of little treasures.
Yeah, I definitely would love to see some more linear or linear with large sandbox games (Like Halo 3) rather than the 8000 hour games we get these days that are bloated with useless collectathons. Ironically this game will have a collectathon but it suits the game! @@CobraF1

@@mikewazowski8368 Awesome, thanks for this recommendation! From what you're saying, Emperor's Tomb sounds exactly like my cup of tea... So I can't wait to try it and besides, I love retro games... It just so happens when I looked at my Steam library now - that I HAVE Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb! So no excuses I guess haha. I bought a bunch (most) of the Indy games a few years ago in a bundle but so far only played through LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures - which I recommend because it follows the original trilogy's stories well albeit with that classic LEGO humor - plus it has splitscreen co-op which is fun. But now I know what my next game on the infamous "Steam backlog" will be 😝

One thing no one is bringing up is that Machine Games is made up of people who were originally from Starbreeze Studios. Before Starbreeze became known for Payday or Dead By Daylight, they created The Chronicles of Riddick, The Darkness and Syndicate. I'm excited for this Indy game not just because I love Indiana Jones, but it seems like a spiritual successor of to the Riddick games or The Darkness. In those games when you climbed ladders, and went to health stations, you went into third person, there was a lot of melee combat in first person, you can see your character's shadow and lots of environmental storytelling and open ended gameplay as well. Indiana Jones looks like its going to have all of that! I'm so excited for it.

I'm concerned about the first person due to motion sickness as well. The only motion sickness I've felt from 1st person shooters have been from Bethesda and MachineGames. I could barely finish DOOM and I couldn't finish Wolfenstein due to it. I've been wanting an Indiana Jones game for years now, and I don't want to have my only chance be unplayable due to motion sickness, which is why I was kind of hoping for a third person experience like Jedi Survivor or something. First person definitely doesn't look bad though, seems like a lot of fun.

Todd's name does not inspire confidence, the senior narrative designer Edward Curtis-Sivess promising "new Indiana Jones story for a modern gaming audience" sounds (and looks) outright scary and there is imo even a risk the devs will pull Alan Wake 2 and have us play as Gina half the time. So I will wait for reviews, player feedback, gameplay videos and PC version performance reports first - but I am still hyped it is coming and even planned for 2024.
