Dishwasher Won’t Start, Flashing Start Light

- This is my Frigidaire Dishwasher Model FFCD2413US. It would not start. The issue did not seem to be with the latch, a common problem which you can confirm by pressing the door in while pushing start. In this case, the issue seemed to be with the seating of the control board AND cheap buttons that require a pretty aggressive press in order to do anything. I installed it myself using the most basic tool set (2 screwdrivers, vice grip, a couple bits).
Backstory: This was part of a larger order from Home Cheapo as part of a house flip. The Miami based installers showed up and refused to install the dishwasher or the microwave, using lame excuses. The fridge and stove were significantly damaged. The front door to the condo unit was damaged on a re-delivery attempt, and ~2 months later the process is still not complete. These issues are likely a symptom of Miami - a challenging place to do business - but they reflect poorly on Home Cheapo's capabilities as a corporation to operate in a sub-optimal environment.

eh i wouldn't use these. the first thing you should do "if the shit is brand new" return it for a new one because they fucked it in manufacturing thats not your issue to fix.

I live in a rental. Management replaced a 4-year-old Frigidaire dishwasher with a bad pump with another Frigidaire dishwasher. (Model FFCD2413UW) I'm thinking, try a better brand. But they're spending more swapping out dishwashers every few years.
Before that, the rental had a Kenmore installed when they built the building in 1995. Lasted 20+ years!
When I was a homeowner, I bought a new Kenmore portable in 1987. It was still working when I sold it used around 2002.
As you said, the pushbuttons are a poor design. I give them a year before they go bad.
I was told by a repairman that no matter how much they cost, they will all only last 5-7 years now. And the more energy conserving it has, the less they clean.

Thank you for this. I didn't have any problems with mine but it was like it had a poltergeist in it and sometimes you could get it to start and other times you couldn't. I didn't realize you had to firmly push the button. Or as you say hard push

There is some browning on the wires that go into the connectors to the latch. Does that mean the. Latch handle needs replacing?
I just moved in to this apartment 2 months ago. First time I actually used a dishwasher, so I thought it was me, must be doing something wrong. It works when it wants to. So I'm trying to get the damned thing to work and read your suggestion on pushing it hard. I was thinking i can't be pushing this thing any harder, but I used both thumbs and it turned on. POS!! LMAO. Thanks for the advice!!

Thanks for the video. I have this dishwasher and it is nearly impossible to get it to turn on. My cancel button doesn't work at all. It runs the full cycle and turns itself off. I am not happy with it. It has a one-year guarantee from the manufacturer. I'll see if the store has options to return it.

I waited 2 years and 3 months to get a dishwasher. I finally got it installed yesterday. I went to use it for the first time tonight. I loaded it, put the detergeant in and hit start. It wouldn't let me change from a heavy to normal load. It started. Ran a little bit then stopped. I opened it and there's a little bit of water sitting on the bottom and the buttons stopped working. It's model FFCD2413UW but the buttons on mine are the same as this one.

We got the same model but the white one and it starts up. Fills up the water but it never starts the wash cycle it’ll sit quiet then eventually drain the water back out and sit there quietly again just getting extremely hot. This happened to both units we ordered, same dishwasher, idk maybe they just had a bad batch go out for sale and we got unlucky? This can’t be normal though
Mine is doing this now four years later. It’s probably time for an upgrade. Appliances don’t last long anymore
On my dishwasher the ON button continues to flash, even when the door is open. When i close it and turn it on, it sounds like its on but its not cleaning the dishes and cutlery. Earlier it was on for 30 minutes and the ON light was still blinking. The dishwasher never entered the next stage of WASH. Whats going on here? Any help would be appreciated
Maybe make sure the child lock and/or cancellation isn’t on. Just keep hard pushin the crap out of it, sorry but who doesn’t need humor now a days.

I got lights and power but won't start. I hear it trying to click over, but nothing. I tried to shimmy thr latch with cardboard to push down on the latch but nothing. If I move to front door side to side I hear it clicking trying to start but nothing. Any ideas?
I wonder if the valve which opens to allow water in has broken. Let us know if you figure it out.

Which screw driver do you need
It's a Torx screw, you can get the bits at Home Cheapo for $12. But, try just a hard press on the buttons first, that has worked for a lot of people.

I'm a big dude and we have this same 2022 dishwashing machine I need to really push hard to get it started..annoying
how does one remove this panel. Having same issue, but can't see any means to remove the panel and check the clips. TKS
There are a series of torx screws around the inner edge of the door.
Have the hard to start issue, AND mine continuously stops mid-cycle, requiring the Start button to be pushed multiple times in order to get it to complete a single cycle. Never again.
Mine keeps flashing number 2 and turning on and off.

Mine looks like it was installed wrong. One side goes in further than the other. I’ve tried to adjust it… latch isn’t catching and it’s about 4 months old. It was randomly working but now the lights come on but go back off! I need my knuckles to push the buttons!

If you have a multimeter, maybe see if power is flowing into the unit. Also remember the lights won't do anything unless you have just closed the door.

Mine is brand new I rent so I can't take it off.😏 It's stuck on high.
My brand new Frigidaire will not wash the dishes at all even though it seems to run through a normal cycle.
The washing arm might not be spinning.
So you need to push the panel inside first? Question to anyone...
It's likely you just need to press harder than you ever thought possible on the buttons. I mostly opened up the machine to figure out what was going on, and it didn't seem like the circuit board was seated very well.
@@sondroyo Our new dishwasher is from Lowes, can't find a brand name, but having same issues. This is about a six months old. Last washer lasted less than a year, plastic gear in pump went out. So now we have this pc of crap....The irony, I bought this house had a Montgomery Ward dishwasher, 20 years old at least. Today everything is junk.
