An absolute outstanding video! I cannot believe how well you covered this A-Z. I finished my first build last week. Been buying the BNFs which are great but they didn't teach me much. I had to watch several different videos to get smart on everything. You have covered everything great, especially the choices of hardware. This is a model video for all newbie's to watch! Great Job!
Thanks JD, glad it helped you. Yeah there was a lot to cover, and it took ages to edit to be able to get that all into a single and concise 40 min video. I hear quite a bit parts selection and compatibility is a challenge, so hopefully that was covered effectively
It is worth mentioning at around 8:30 about signal polarization. I see that your receiver has right-hand polarization (RHCP), the same antenna should be on your googles. Also let me know which of two is most common? Thanks!
I think I might have burnt up a fc and a vtx on my first build because I had no ideal you had to flash them and set up esc along with vtx.Your video probably saved me a lot of cash, thanks so much for the video. You have a new fan!
Hey Darren, Its always good to watch builds, you always learn somthing new, thanx for sharing,i use to make vids and verry time consuming, even with todays tech.i just realized it was you from the other day when the quad took off at the end.hehe great stuff!! God bless n be safe.
I didn't watch the video, it's long, I just went through the bookmarks. I just realized again that it's really not for everyone to be able to build a fpv quad, it's just too complicated. And this is the simplest version of the quad, it is without GPS and other things needed for example for LR. GPS problems are always on the next level. This video must scare the greenies. It is necessary to appreciate the enormous amount of work that has gone into the video so far.😎
Thanks MomoBrut... It looks intimidating to see how much goes into a drone build, but how do you eat an elephant? 1 Bite at a time. The thing is, you are going to need to learn to build one for FPV purely for the fact that even if you buy a pre-built drone, it will break when it crashes, then you will need to fix it. Knowing how to build is learning how to fix it.
@@DarrenAllatt Well, I built a lot of quads, that's why I write what I write. Putting everything in one video is I don't know how to say it, I actually said it. The rookie won't be able to understand most of the video anyway, and after half of it he'll be downright overheated. And those who are not greenies just smile and nod their heads, it's done nicely. It would probably be more reasonable to just do it gradually, do more separated videos ... but I'm older now, and maybe I perceive things differently. But young rookies just can't focus on something like that for that long.
I don’t fly iNav and it’s a PITB to setup. If you just want return to home, betaflight can do that and do it well… inav also has some build requirements such as positioning of the GPS etc.
When you say hot, how hot? They won’t be “cold” or pre-flight temperature as you have 26 volts running through them and they are spinning at 50,000 RPM. Also what quad are you using and how much does it weigh?
Yes you can toggle them on in BF, just set the switch in the modes tab. To fly in Australia you need to be a member of the MAAA and fly at an MAAA airfield with a spotter. But if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around. Did it fall?
@@DarrenAllatt Not too long switched to 6s so I’ve only rebuilt recently. Latest was putting thicker XL5 V5 arms on a source one body…so far it’s indestructible😅💪🏼
This drone or a Nazgûl Evoque would go the same speed. Top speed would be 120km/h If you are looking for speed, you want a 6S Racing Drone. Building vs buying, you get better quality for the same price.
For my next build video, what should it be? Drop your requests & parts suggestions? - What size? (3", 3.5", 6", 7") - Sub 250 Gram or Any weight - DJI 03, HD Zero, WalkSnail - Freestyle, Racing, Long Range - Full Size GoPro vs Mini GoPro, No GoPro? You tell me, what you'd like to see!
In firmware Flasher on beta flight I have selected my correct flight controller (Speedybeef405V3) and the latest firmware version for the board next I load firmware [online] then flash firmware and then I get Failed to open serial port. Im not sure what’s going on.
So, most FPV Drones, like this one are designed for performance not efficiency. This is a freestyle drone, so it’s acrobatic and gets around 5-8 mins of acrobatics depending on how much you push it.
You can, but: a) your ESC will most likely catch fire if you don’t put a motor output limit on it. b) yes if you put a motor output limit on in Betaflight
Define “best” Won’t get the Antenna destroyed in a crash, RP2 RP1 gets a bit more range due to the exposed antenna vs a ceramic. For a 5” Freestyle, I’d go the RP1
I have that coming up in the next month or so, just awaiting for the frame after Chinese New Year.. Make sure you are subbed to find out when that video drops!
I haven't like 3" since 3.5" became a thing. it used to be the Micro Apex, which is quite heavy for a 3" build, but QuadMula are sending me the Siren F3 (3") for another build video, so we will see how that goes, it looks very promising!
Wow man wot a video im gunna build my own now thanks to u my man please do one with dji 03 unit and crossfire cus thats wot i wanna build lol ❤❤❤❤❤ well done man awesomeeee vidddd

the best explaination video of almost everything about Fpv drone building
This guide and your instruction are amazingly top notch! Your quick and concise explanation is awesome! Keep it up!
i would have killed to have a video like this when I started. Great Job Darren!!
Thanks Sway
It is worth mentioning at around 8:30 about signal polarization. I see that your receiver has right-hand polarization (RHCP), the same antenna should be on your googles. Also let me know which of two is most common? Thanks!
Typically for Analog and HdZero you use RHCP and for DJI and Walksnail it’s LHCP.

Great video! This contains all the information I need to build my first FPV quad. Beautifully explained!
You are welcome
Superb video. With that said, is there good instruction on going from BetaFlight to INAV with this setup?
I don’t fly iNav and it’s a PITB to setup. If you just want return to home, betaflight can do that and do it well… inav also has some build requirements such as positioning of the GPS etc.
This is a great idea thanks bro
Thank you for this amazing video. It is going to help a lot with my first build❤
You are welcome. Please let me know if I can help
i recommend you suggest what wiring to buy
what gauge, twisted or solid core .....
26AWG silicon. Get the kit I show off Amazon.
Is the speedybee F7 v3 stack pin out the same as the DJI 03 air unit wire to just plug in no soldering?
I know on the F4 it is, so I’d assume the F7 is too. Check the diagram on their website to be 100%
Which soldering iron do you recommended?
TS100
AWESOME THANK YOU CHARL SOUTH AFRICA 😁😁😁😁😎🙏🙏🙏💪
my tmotor 2207 v3 1950kv is hot after every flight, i set the motor timing to medium same as the video. Does that affect the temperature?
When you say hot, how hot?
They won’t be “cold” or pre-flight temperature as you have 26 volts running through them and they are spinning at 50,000 RPM.
Also what quad are you using and how much does it weigh?
Can you toggle horizon mode, angle and air mode in beta flight, great video helped me out tons, and is it hard to get a drone permit in Australia??
Yes you can toggle them on in BF, just set the switch in the modes tab.
To fly in Australia you need to be a member of the MAAA and fly at an MAAA airfield with a spotter.
But if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around. Did it fall?
Love building ❤
What was the last quad you built?

Hello sir I have a question where should i connect ibus reciver to f405 v3 flight controll
Hey! I would try either the SBUS Pad or an RX Pad. That's not something I am used to as it's not common in FPV, so you may need to goggle that
Can you try to give an estimate of about how fast this drone might go on 6s? I’m debating if I should build my own drone or just buy a Nazgûl Evoque.
This drone or a Nazgûl Evoque would go the same speed. Top speed would be 120km/h
If you are looking for speed, you want a 6S Racing Drone.

If I use 1750kv motors and 4s battery is it wrong?
Not wrong, just under powered. Those motors are ideal for a 6S power source.
@@DarrenAllatt As I was told, it is the other way around. 1750kV motors cannot withstand 6s
@@DudeWithFPVwhoever told you that was completely wrong. You have it around the wrong way.
How to use the S9 pad on speedybee f405 v3 for PWM output?
I’m not google mate.
T6 and R6 what is TX and RX?
Transmit and Receive.
When you wire. You wire a TX to an RX and a RX to a TX of the same number.
@@DarrenAllatt on speedybee not find TX or RX only T6 R6, the x is a placeholder, wire T to T and R to R ?

Bardwell's infamous red tape. 😁 he uses cloth tape too. 😉
How long does this fly for? Just curious. New to the “drone life”
So, most FPV Drones, like this one are designed for performance not efficiency.
This is a freestyle drone, so it’s acrobatic and gets around 5-8 mins of acrobatics depending on how much you push it.

can i use 6s 1550 mah 130c batteries on a 5 inch buuild with 2207 1850 kv motors or will a 1550 mah be to big and heavy?
Yeah it will be fine, just on the heavier side

Rp1 vs Rp2 wich is best ??
