    How is it possible that the foggy conditions were not known before boarding the passengers? Even if they came to know about it just before taking off, there should be a protocol to make sure they de-board the passengers after a certain wait time. Waiting for 6 hours inside a plane is ridiculous. Saying all that, it is still not justified to attack anyone for your frustration.

      Buddy due to the simple fact, the flight deck has various checklists to decide whether it's safe to fly or not, like minimum visibility and reports from other aircrafts who would've landed at the destination airport earlier. All this information to be passed around to ALL pilots and crews takes time and when the matter is about the weather, you are only a slave to time. Atleast the airliner didn't cancel the flight and leave the passengers to sort their shit out, they are also human beings. This flight got diverted and they landed in Mumbai too and STILL the passengers decided to make it even harder by not de-boarding and being adamant about staying IN the aircraft even after CISF and terminal staff brought buses to take them to the terminal with their dinner as well. What do you expect the pilots to do? Fly when they know the weather is terrible and risk safety? For letting the passengers off also there are various SOPs, its not just one flight's passengers the airport has to account for right? All the passengers of ALL flights flying to fog affected areas have to be accounted for and looked after, do you expect them to just open the gates and flood the terminal with thousands of angry passengers and risk further escalation in what is already a dire situation? If they found out before take-off, they have to notify tower of a rejected take-off and then the tower has to see where can they accommodate that aircraft and then clear it to taxi there and prepare the terminal. Nothing in this world happens with a snap of a finger unless you're an illusionist.

Thats insane . So the argument would be change the visibility of seeing to fly the plane ✈️ if the pilots just decided wing it they crash and kill everyone is that what these passengers want ? I’d assume it’s safer to be delayed than deceased … but what do I know . I just choose to use logic instead of emotion.

    The issue is that airlines don’t inform well in advance about delays or cancellations. They are hesitant to update the consumers only bcoz they don’t wanna refund. Fog isn’t a new phenomenon, airlines should have planned well in advance to mitigate it. But allowing passengers to enter the airport, finish all hectic procedures and then stranded in the plane or on aero bridges, is not the way to handle this situation. Cancel, reschedule or inform in advance, but handicapping passengers and making the airport a fish market won’t help. Ppl have jobs, businesses, meetings, connecting flights, huge stakes on visas international travel etc.. physical violence isn’t the answer, but the frustration is very well understandable. Besides, there’s something called suffocation/ claustrophobia. Airlines can’t trap passengers inside the flight for hours either. Naturally they will wanna be at the Tarmac. If they are making the airport a fish market, they why not eat on the Tarmac. When airlines behave professionally and treat passengers as customers, customers abide too.

There are worse weather conditions around the world at major airports and sure, there are delays and cancellations, but NOT at this scale. Also, in countries where human lives matter more, they compensate for the delays or cancellations or even provide alternatives; and surely don't leave their customers to dine on the tarmac. This is a pathetic condition of India's best airport and of India in general.

    Air India, IndiGo, Go First, Akasa et al are using Boeing, Airbus or embraer planes. Pilots are traine to fly on Instrument Landing System (ILS) which is a precision runway approach aid based on two radio beams which together provide pilots with both vertical and horizontal guidance during an approach to land.
    They don't need visual to land a plane on modern aircrafts.
    Also, Autopilot can land a plane. This is called autoland especially during low visibility operations. But it's not as simple as the autopilot landing the plane.
    Flying in fog is quite challenging, even for the most experienced of pilots. For pilots that are not as skilled, fog is an extremely dangerous and potentially deadly hazard. Each year, around 440 people are killed due to weather-related aviation accidents including the conditions of low visibilities and ceilings.

    This is why we need high speed rail connecting our major cities. HSR doesn't get affected by fog. Because traffic management of rails is easier. And with automation we don't need to have rail pilots at all. HSR is a necessary alternative. Specially for smaller distances. If we can go from munbai to Delhi in under 5 hrs ofc people will not mind railways. HSR can and will help decongestion of the increasing aviation traffic.

    Please stop having such big sympathy for airlines and our airport authority. Passengers become irate due to their mismanagement and incompetence. Whenever there is a delay and people who have boarded the flight, the first thing airlines do, is to cut off the air conditioning to save costs, this leads to passengers feeling couped up, hot and agitated eventually. Plus no food and beverages are served during this period ( Even if the flight is 4-5 hrs late ). The cherry on the cake is that these flights most of the time do not allow lavatory access for passenger in this waiting period but pilots and airhostess can use it willy nilly at pleasure. There is no mechanism created to deboard the passengers in case of a flight delay of more than 1 hr. There are no strict laws to prevent any of these issues which are easily preventable.

    Having lived in Sydney for almost 2 decades, we know the worst time to travel for Sydney weather is May / June due to fog. Flights get delayed very often, but people have to accept it. Once we were in flight for 3 hours from Singapore to Sydney - all passengers boarded the flight but it did not take off due to some checks which they had to do. It’s very stupid to start hitting the staff, if this would had happened in Australia / USA - they would just call the cops and throw the passenger out of the flight and file charges against him. Very sad to see such behaviour. It’s understandable that the passengers are frustrated but the circumstances are beyond anyone’s control.

    New Delhi needs to invest more in internal and regional transportation such as long-distance high-speed train connections. Japan can help out on this. It is a political choice to not invest in transportation, which would not only help integrate the federal states into the economy but integrates all citzens fully. Over-reliability on planes will lead to these problems, USA and EU have the same problems. Don't follow their paths, invest more in high- speed train connections, also for the rail freight transport and for the army it's benecial as well.

    • @Acalarakta
      @Acalarakta Год назад

      The core problem is the kerosine usage for airplanes and other fossile fuel usage for cars and motors. I can't see why and how bringing another Int' hub for air transport would reduce the usage of FF and thus smog. Such a Int' hub needs to be connected to cities. Time is money and it is only in the interest of businesses to settle near those hubs creating the same problem as before. It would reduce the stress of cities so I get how you think. However, the core problem of smog will not be tackled in cities. Metros, busses, trams, bikes and walking need to get more space and primacy over car usage. More green and less trash on the streets. How your environment is, so will your mind be. It's in the interest of the city itself to make sure it's citizens are living healthy and safe so the next pilot will not get beating up by its own problem.... @@alexi2460

    Temperature was in minus 6 and it was complete dark at midnight. When airforce can land in heavy snowfall in midnight without any ground support why indigo failed to provide similar training to its pilots when fog comes every year in delhi.
    No place for violence but also no point to lock passengers in plane for 13 hours without food.
