- Building on the fly. no plans just a idea and lots of scrap steel to work with. fun project and enjoyed building a welding cart to house my welder and all my other machines.
Nicely done Tony. I just know that every time you wheel it out of the corner to use it and every time you wheel it back into the corner to put it away, you're gonna crack a little smile and wish you'd done it years ago.
Hey Fitzee I just made my own welder stand based on an old hand truck and parts from a Harbor Freight welding stand [like the shelves] like your other design, but I still watched this for the fabrication. Every project offers a learning experience for we viewers. Not just technique, but watching your process of figuring things out as you go demonstrates how to tackle a project. Seldom do projects come with blueprints and half of good fabrication is the creative half. Also I always appreciate you use guards, ear protection and safety squints. Thanks for setting a good example.
For something that you built out of your head it is certainly well designed and put together, I reckon that if you had built the Titanic it wouldn't have sunk!!
Very handy to be able to make a custom trolley to suit your needs. No way you could buy something like this that was exactly what you needed.
Brother Tony,
Great Movie!
It's cool watching you doing you, and being happy. I say it all the time, you are a helluva instructor. Lots of people are great at what they do, but couldn't teach a fella nuthin'. You, you on the other hand.......are Good. And its capitalized for a reason.
Hi, made a similar one for myselve. A handy addition is to integrate a power distribution system into it. You get to handle only one power chord and all the outlets are on the cart. Also for angle grinders. Great video again 👍
Nice one Mr Fitzee. You have some of the best easy to follow tutorials, great 👍 for all us beginners out here 😀.
Looks great Tony, I’ve got a small addition to it, not a necessity though, but it’ll give you a bit more of convenience while you’re working on a project. Add a power board or two with several outlets to have all your tools plugged in and only you have to run a single heavy duty extension cord from your wall power point to connect the power boards on to it. Thanks for sharing, what a nice project. Cheers from Down Under. Tas
Was thinking about that the other day while using it. Good idea. The power bar needs long cord soi can still move the work station around the job
I need to build one of these carts. I have been collecting scrap metal for a while but I might need some more angle iron. You make useful things that work well for any size shop. Thanks for the video it allows me to wind down.
Really enjoy your work. Bought gas and started sheet metal welding learning from you. Thanks.
Saw this in person today
He is a man worth in gold
Thanks
I like the storage of your cart, been wanting to build something for my equipment and you gave me some good ideas, thank Tony great tips as always 👍
Thanks Fitzee, made up my own welding cart yesterday with the same intentions as you have discussed here. I remembered you had done a cart so I watched and decided to add a place to hand my grinding discs like you have, good idea that one. I made mine up from an old removalist trolley, lawn mower handle and a sheet of 2mm gal steel that I have had for over 20 years. $12 for a set of used heavy duty castors from Gumtree (like ebay) was the only expense and I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.
Pretty slick. Happy welding.
If I only had your talent and was 40 years younger. Love your videos.
I have many unfinished projects, broken repairs, lost materials. ( forgot where I hid then )
You inspired me to use this stuff and build a welding trolley 🚎.
No more rubbish everywhere, and a neat trolley to cart around my shed.
Brilliant.
Thanks for the motivation.
I love it. Reuse. Repurpose. Recycle. This is awesome. Thanks so much for another great video and an awesome RUclips channel.
Tony, you have distracted me from Fabricating my new Jeep Body (Tub), cause now I have to build one of these for my equipment which will allow me to free up some space in the garage. Great project and now I want one. Time to dig through my steel pile and get to work. Thanks for the idea.
I was trying to find a shopping cart to scavenge for a cart. Not now!! Great Idea!
I like the old spot welder the work great for Pre 83 cars after 83 they changed the metal in cars I still have mine that I bought in 1985 used myself I made a wooden welding cart that holds my torches oxy/act and argon-mix tanks on the back I used 6" wheels the cart is kinda like a bench and I have my hammers and dolly blocks and a shelf for my welding helmet & goggles where the tanks are I have enough room for my wires .025 & .035 mine is about 42" wide and 30" deep and 54" high even holds a few grinding disks on the side...
You did a nice job on that one always handy to keep welding equipment together
LOOKS AWESOME! It will also remove some clutter from the shop! Funny that I just made a cart for our AC Nitrogen leak test kit this week, using an oxygen tank cart from Amazon that I modified for the larger tank.
Nice work!
Good video I think I need to do something like this to combine all my odd stuff that I use with my welder.
Hey Fitzee awesome welding cart gives me some ideas to modify my welding cart. Love your videos wish I had more time to watch them. Been flat out with the business making rust repair panels and they have been shipped all over Australia and to New Zealand as well.
Well done Tony. Thanks for sharing the tips. They are good!
looks great. a pc of rubber matting would look nice on the top of the cart
Nice, simple design, Fitzee... Everything in its place and easily accessible. Looking sharp Sir!! Might go out and start modifying mine!!
Thanks for another great video!!
Inspection done by the chief inspector Peanuts, so guess it's approved and all. Once again, thanks Tony for your great tips and tricks.
Hi Tony, nice cart and custom for your exact needs. I made a very low profile one out of plywood for myself, so that it could roll under a work table when not in use. Now I have designed a foldable handle for it in my head, to make it easier to move around. The tips are good! Thanks for the video!
Hey Fitzee, your video on the cut and butt helped me do a great job repairing my rear quarter panel in my older Honda restoration.
Thanks for putting these out and sharing your wisdom. You're a Rockstar at metal working
Nice work as always Fitzee. I recycled 2 cheap folding picnic chairs for my cart. The boys and I ride it down the driveway, minus the welder. Maybe I should enter it in the redbull derby haha.
yes sir great little unit well done sir Fitzee
Great job Tony
Owsome job done.
Cheers Fitzee. 🍻
Reconfiguring my welding cart was one of the best things I’ve done recently in my shop, just makes everything easier and more pleasant to use. Nice work and thanks for some great ideas/solutions for things I still haven’t finished on mine.
Thanks Fitzee. I have a 110 Mig that I've had for at least 35 years and I told my wife that I was going to get a new one in the spring and I've been looking at some ideas for a new stand for it. I also have a Lincoln stick welder and seeing what you built I have all kind of ideas going through my head. I also have some scrap steel that I can make good use of. God bless and I'll be looking forward to your next video. 👍
I have on mine a 220 power strip that everything is plugged in. And spliced into that is a 120v power strip. All my tools can be easily turned on and used without having to get up and down.
I guess you could say you kicked that shelving’s ass!!!! I think you need to paint it green. because you made it from recycled materials. Hell of a job.
Peanut seems ok with it so it must be decent. ;)
I had a cart from a pressure washer given to me. After some cuttin' and weldin' I have a place for my MIG and plasma cutter. But I think I do need to add a top like you did. That welder doesn't make a good table ;)
Cheers, Tony.
What an awesome idea 💡 great tip 😊.
Great tips, thanks. Seeing this makes me realize how lame my Harbor Freight welding cart is. Love the shelf reinforcements, the brackets for the tank, the dual purpose hose hinges and the casters so it can spin in place. Nice!
Enjoyed watching how the project unfolded and was guided by your experience and confidence.
Awesome cart. Need to make something for my new welder. I've upgraded from gasless to gas MIG after getting fed up chasing holes. Some brilliant tips here, thank you
Awesome weld cart. Very good idea. I may have to do the same at some point. The tips were good Thank You.
Inspirational Using your Scrap! Great Build.
Very interesting, very creative. Yes the tips were good. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Great idea. I also put my tools on the welding machine and now I think I'll build something there too.👍🙂
I made myself a welding trolley work table other week but I’ll be adding couple of bits to it after seeing your build. So much easier using 4 casters. I did add magnet rails to it to hang square and scribes plus cutters for cutting the welding wire with.
It gets used as an extra tool storage daily too.
Inspirational, thank you Tony.
Very, very impressive build of a consolidation caddy!
Awesome now i know how im going to build mine i have been trying to get my welders all in one place but i dont have much room . Thankyou Fitzee
Thanks Fitzee - that was fun to watch you process how to make everything fit and make it do more than just hold a few machines.
Hi Fitzee, Love the project. When you get ready to paint Crusty adjust your sprayer on your new cart. 😁
As usual Fitzee, top draw,
that is very similar to the trolley I made for my mig, tig and plasma..
Top job as usual, love your work and inspiration.
Keep up the great work.
WOW BUNK WELDING CART MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. just had a nice size garage built 40x60 and it never fails ,it should have been bigger I think since I have a bunch of stuff that should be close to welder and I could use the practice with my equipment I will have to build something like this .Your content is always so good food for thought thank you for this idea . Great video as always God bless my friend .
That's a sweet all in one welding cart. 👍
Nice build bud 👍 a multi-use cart like that is just so handy to have everything right there where you’re working and then a place to store everything too. You’ll be so efficient now you’ll be finishing projects left and right!!!
Excellent job on cart and I like the fact that you recycled all the materials that you used.
Great way to combine everything into a portable trolley.
I would have put a heavier gauge ontop and then could have been used to weld on as a portable welding table.
Great video keep them coming 👍👍👍👍🤗🤗
a really nice, functional , simple, well designed cart Tony.
Nicely done Sir! Custom made to suit your needs!
I love it please continue to keep it up and show us how to do things
Tony the top shelf is the most irish middle I've ever seen
Nice job Fitzee that would have cost you a packet to buy one but it still wouldn’t be exactly what you needed , cool I bet that’ll prove to be a real asset around the shop 👍
Nice!!!! Kind of been thinking about doing something similar for my small mig, tig, and plasma cutter. Thank you for the great video!
Fitzee you are such an inspiration. Thank you, Be good 👍
That looks real good for converting scrap into something nice and useful. You have so much talent, your amazing.
Helluva job.All ya need do now is pick a color an rattle can that bad boy. Keep 'em comin.Nothin like tinkerin round in the shop.I call it sanity maintenance. 😉
Fancy just needs a coat of black paint and some old school pin striping and she’s good to go 👍
Love it. Gave me a lot of ideas. Thanks
Nice job. Efficient. And you didn’t waste any unneeded paint !
Turned out good, I need to build one too.
It is Perfect I like how you have a place for cutting disc and grinding wheel
You forgot 1 important thing.......A cup holder for cold drinks😃
Clever job, Fitzee
Enjoyed watching, after seeing this it reminds me how I hate not having 4 casters on my welder stand. I'm going to make some modifications to my stand and that top shelf is a great idea cuz you always need more space for all those tools being used. Great job on this project and thanks for sharing it. I've been meaning to tell you your 2x4 wheel cribs on the rolling wheel dollies under the Chevy project is also something I want to copy, added height and mobility great idea.
That blue and orange spot welder looks like a beat up old piece of junk. I bet it works really well and it's totally reliable. These old machines were really built to last, not like modern junk that is lucky to outlast the warranty.
what do you mean scrap metal ..when the chunks are about the size of a coin then it's scrap metal or if it's bent and twisted ,,, great video ,,just enough to show how it was done but not too long that we fall asleep .. thumbs up ,, that one chunk looked like a cab corner could be wrong the big chunk I remember that video ..
The main thing is that the customer is happy with it😃
Awesome! Thanks for posting. Planning on making one myself.
I need one! 👍
As always another awesome video Tony. What a great idea. Keep up the great content. Always look forward to an enjoy watching your new videos. Keep On Keeping On Brother!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Enjoy all your videos. Have u ever come across the technique ( when mig sheet repairs) tack 4 spots, grind flat while hot, tack 4 spots, grind while hot etc. etc. The welds are next to each other. It's another way of avoiding warping. Rather than tack one spot, move along a bit , tack one spot etc. ( keeping the job cool) ? Just saw it on another Utube channel.
Yes that video was sent to me last week. Very interesting
Nice project and a fine video! I really enjoyed it!
Hi fitzee you've done it again love your video's buddy can you make a video on your air compressor and water separator like to see how your setup is keep them coming cheers fitzee Vinnie from down Under 👍🏆
Nice job to the rack. That's the way I like to build too. Just play it by ear...design as I go
Those straps you used for the welder rack wouldn't pass the fire inspection here in the states. Instead of a nylon rachet strap, we would be required to use either chain or cable. Something that wouldn't fail in case of a fire. ( it's actually the NFPA Fire Code that mandates why we have to secure gas cylinders in the first place
tips, as always, are good....
Best part is the little pocket for grinder wrench that can’t be found when needed 😂
I made mone from garden wagon. At the time I built it, i had a two car garage, but I was always out side. Now i have nothing but dirt. The 10" wheel and ability to pull it with a ATV is handy
If the Cat says it's OK then it's Great!
i like this especially that it turns 360 regular welding carts dont and its a pain in the i have metal laying around might give this a try at the same i make me one of those camping grills you made thanks fitzee
A shelf on top of the welder?? It has taken me many years to learn how to properly pile all my tools on top of the welder.
I gotta be quite honest with you Fitzy I’d watch any of your videos lord I’m sure I even want you build a bird house for frig sake
Nice work !
Miller Blue would look good
Very nice and practical cart, you should put it on 'Popular Mechanics', if they are still around. Lol
That will work well 👍
Oh my i love thi build boss im gonna make one same idea like thi but for my pneumatic vulcanizing tool organizier thank you
Thanks for all your time and videos
Nice work,Tony! What's next?
Stick around!! Lol
Hey mate you forgot the most inportant thing on that cart . A cup holder for your favourite drink
@Fitzee It's funny I have a whole bunch of this same shelf material you're using and was thinking to do the same thing!
