They forgot to mention the most important... it's fun to drive, throttle response is good, brakes are good and the steering is the best in its class imo.
@@danntoan9291 None really. All I did was just take good care of it by keeping up with oil changes and all other maintanances. The only issues my car ran into were the o2 pressure sensors, and the drive and serpantine snapped. Other than that its a great car and I believe mazda made these to last a long time.
One of the best looking compact sedans on the road today. I don't mind the interior . . . it isn't GREAT, but it isn't a deal breaker either. I know that some of you here absolutely LOVE your Mazdas. I do know that people can be fanatical about them. My son really liked this car at the Detroit auto show.
the older Mazdas are twins to the Ford Focus..sharing the firm chassis and more, but the Ford gets below average quality scores.. and the Mazda 3 gets the top reliability score in Consumer Reports...that describes the difference
That's the beauty of opinions and tastes... everyone likes things a certain way. It wasn't HORRIBLE just not to our liking. I appreciate your feedback @djtrojanman1 - Dave
I gave u thumps up just for Mazda 3 , and everything in the interior is so nice and acceptable, it looks very sporty from inside and outside, and i believe everyone are agree with me.
thinking about getting mazda 3 for my mom, hopefully it is reliable just like her 2000 civic, the most reliable car we have ever owned for last 20 years
I see more mature drivers driving this car than a kid fresh out of college. Maybe mazda intended to target younger drivers but it didn't pan out that way. And the reason I'm here is obviously because I'm interested in a compact sedan. Must get rid of my impractical (but so much fun!) 300+ hp rwd coupe because I'm downsizing my lifestyle. Minimalism is the cool and sensible thing to do now even for guys like me.
I rented this very model, similar red, around southern Ontario on a visit from Ireland in 2012. I had no previous experience with Mazda. The car drove really nice, good power, suspension (held the road v. well) and adequate comfort. I was very impressed. However the Dashboard and components still had that 'generic oriental car look' and lower quality interior components. The outside design while okay was still lacking. Now they've released a new Mazda 3 since 2014, it looks like they've ironed out these wrinkles with a whole new 'eye-catching' car that looks premium!
It is the same power 184 hp engine available in the 2014 Mazda 6 now in the Mazda 3 with the Skyactive set of tweaks to give you better fuel economy.. Like a very high compression ratio like 12 or 13:1 while still running on regular gas but you have to rev the engine to its limits to get it.
sorry, bad review, the two screens on the top front were there for safety reasons, once you really own and drive this car on a daily base, you will realize why they are there! and I'm not even talking about that you will simply "get used to it"!
At 2:41 " zoom-zoom into the future"……😂 yes it does have too many screens. I guess it they were trying to stick to the 1st gen formula with the instrument cluster. But yes, this car does suit college graduates, and it beats the looks of an ordinary Corolla of the same year anyday of the week. I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have a temp gauge, just a blu3 light that switches off of when the car gets to normal operating temperatures. When the light comes on red, you’re done! You’ve probably blown the head gasket when that light comes on….
I will say that the 2013s mazda 3 has some awsome deals coming from mazda because they are supposed to redesign it. you can get instant 1,000 dollars off and on top of that dealers are giving 5,000 dollars discounts on them, plus with a trade in your looking at a 25,000 dollar fully loaded mazda 3 for like 18k, so i think with the fuel econmy its a great buy
they will once they redesign the mazda 3 for 2014 or 15 model year, currently its using the old duratec 2.5 found in the ford fusion, escape and the previous gen mazda 6
What a crock. The guy mentions getting better gas mileage with the Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta does not get better MPG and it's a good class below the quality of the Mazda 3. These two cars are apples to oranges because you cannot get nearly the features in a Fiesta as you can a Mazda 3.
@@RAYLANDO7 it's really good as a daily driver. I bought mine since last year April and so far it hasn't broken down. It has a good acceleration compared to others in the category. It's somewhat aged now however I live in a third world country so its sporty here. You will love it!
I just got a Mazda 2011 and it's a great car. Stock pioneer stereo is great, the single screen is in a cool place. I like what the did with the rpm and mph panel. I do agree that the extra 2 screens is kinda of gay in the 2013
NO... I got a 2005 Mazda3 as the most reliable car I've owned and the sportiest...the competition is less powerful and less sporty...and the car has been the best selling car in Canada...and I am an older rally car driver and competitor who works on man machine interaction research.... Everyone else says this is the best driving car...You fellows clearly prefer an SUV ...nicknamed a StipidUselessVehicle here ...Thanks for explaining how Americans can be so blind to world-class quality.
I love LOVE Mazda how dare them to speak about my Mazda 3 2011 it is a fables car and I love it tell some jerk bra side me and the Austin Police did not get me a tow truck and now it was total and now I drive a brand New 2013 Mazda 6 same color Red and black sets with sun roof and the new blind spot system in the doors marrows it is grate to have them and the 6 cd magazine rack in the radio and fog lights and it just a ow-some car ,
Not a good review. 0-60 is 8-9 sec 1/4 mile 16+ sec avg mpg is about 33-35 after break in. True 40 mpg hwy at 70 mph. This year they put the nav in the center screen. It does not have to many screens. It's peppy and probably handles better than anything else in its class. It is dated and a new model is due for 2014.

bought mine in 2013 i love it, shes also a BEAST in snow and i get some crappy slushy snow where I am
ghw1985 where do you live ? I’m looking to buy this car and live in snowy pa
I'm up in Canada my friend, not looking to sell either .
I have one to buy just wondered how much snow you get. Thanks
Mine is at 200,000 miles and it still runs the same way it did when I bought it
What repairs have you done to it im thinking about getting one with 110,000 miles

@@steelysam7189 hi there! Is it yours a 5 or 6 speed automatic? Thx.
Nice! About to buy one with 200k miles and you just gave me a huge vote of confidence it should last awhile without major issues.
You must be a very cautious driver

I bought one.
First I tried to find a Toyota or Honda but I chose the Mazda 3.
The “smiley face” front bugs me but that’s the only negative so far.
@Gerald Walker - glad to hear you love Mazda... in the end, it was a fun car to drive and review - Dave

That person RIGHT out of college--with 100K in student debt...?

Wait a second, those 2 big EYES for tachometer and speedo, are BIG to reduce sun glare. They are functional.
4:10 PRNDL is "random lettering"?
The previous 3's interior design looks so much better. Looks like the new 3 is returning to that simple/better style.
Please answer me!! Mazda 3 or Elantra ? (Overall)
15 degrees outside and alex is drinking an iced coffee lol
Skyactiv. It's a more fuel efficient, high compression engine that makes about 5-6% more power than the non skyavtiv engine.

the largest screen is really a last min add on for this year. 2nd gen Mazda 3 is in its last production year.
A Buy it, lease it, rent it, or forget it would be a better scale to use for ownership

my god, what an awful review of an awesome car. You'd suggest a Fiesta with a double-clutch trans and an awful overall and overpriced Ford?!? haha
Solid review, good information, but I would suggest using a more conventional rating system. 72 is a cute theme, but it's a crappy denominator.

it would be AMAZING if they could put the 184hp skyactive engine from the 2014 mazda 6 and put it in the 2014 Mazda 3
I like interiors with lots of gadgets makes it feel cool, to to mention handy if your smart enough to use it all
I’m thinking of getting one as my first car would you guys recommend?
Sure
they will once they redesign the mazda 3 for 2014 or 15 model year, currently its using the old duratec 2.5 found in the ford fusion, escape and the previous gen mazda 6
interior looks better in the sport with single screen and manual
It would be interesting if each of you chose a "straight out of college" car and pitted them against each other.

I heard they have excessive road noise
What have you experienced?
What about tall people driving this car. Is it a comfort fit for someone 6 feet tall?
Yes 😂

Ford Fiesta?
Why not give it a 5 out of 10 instead of 36 out of 72?
darkpill those are how many months on a five year loan that you’ll like the car, or how long you’ll like it before you want to get rid of it.
