Mazda is the most underrated brand in the world. I worked at mazda for 5 years and there was barely any cars coming in for serious service. They also make beautiful cars for a good price.
only time ive ever had a major issue was my control arm needed replacing. that wasnt due to the quality, that was the due to the state of massachusetts and their millions of pot holes. this one was made by whatever company tore up the road and didnt fill and small hole they made. big enough for just my tires to fall into .
@johnf6687 I'm a toyota guy myself. I have a 84' and 87' pickup, an Xrunner and a 5th gen 4runner as my daily. My wife has a taco and a rav4. But I give credit to mazda for making well made cars. I was a salesman and it was easy for me to sell the CX-5s. Didn't need to be sold. Once the customers drove it they fell in love with it.
Their red paint is super thin and chips easy; it's a warranty nightmare. They also had a really awesome orangish red 20 or so years ago on the 3s or 6s
Paid 25 for mine. Didn't need awd. Got the hatchback since it just looks like nothing else on the road and as a bonus, the hatchbacks are still made in japan.
We have three Mazdas in our family, 2021.5 CX5, 2022 3 hatch, 2023 CX50. Nothing but tire rotations and oil changes. Amazing vehicles for the money compared to the competition.
I heard servicing is very pricey for even the basic stuff you mentioned.. but there’s less chances for needing a major repair. I think it’s worth getting it serviced properly at a Mazda center like they’re supposed to, despite the costs
@@christianbryant5617 mostly maintenance, no major breakdown. I go to mazda independent shop that works on nothing but mazda and mazda only. cheaper than dealership.
I recently bought a Mazda CX-30, which is an SUV version of the Mazda 3. I am extremely happy with it. The car looks great, handles superbly, and is fun to drive. It is like having a BMW or Audi for half the price and with better reliability. I was a Honda person previously but I think Mazda has outdone Honda in performance and value.
I have a 2023 Mazda3 Hatch, and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned! We love it! Extremely high quality and comfortable. Mountain driving, racing around town, commutes, holding junk, it does it all! We LOVE Mazda!!
I have a 2015 Mazda 6 touring with almost 200,000 without having any major problems besides the usual battery, tires and regular maintenance. I was thinking of getting another Mazda 6 but found out Mazda will no longer make them. WHY?
I had a 1996 Protege, put 140K miles on it and sold it in perfect condition. Then a 2006 Mazda 3 that went through 2 of my kids until the last one totaled it at 130K miles. I'm currently driving a 2018 Mazda 3. They're so easy to own.
I had a 2011 mazdaspeed3 that I loved. Traded it for a WRX. Both were great cars. Now the wife and I only have a Subaru Crosstrek. Insurance just went us too much to justify having two cars when we really only need one.
The protege always caught our eyes on the road. Those era sedans from the brand had such great road presence and they were just so beautifully understated and unique.
I bought my first car a couple of days ago; it is a 2025 Mazda 3 2.5 S. So far, I love it. Driving a new car is quite intimidating on the road as I’m coming from a beater car I’ve had for almost 6 years.
@@johnkonde1975 The electronic steering is very well balanced. Not too heavy, but also not too light. It is very steady and easy to control. Very well configured.
I had 2003 Mazda 3 hatchback that I sold with 147000 miles, right now I have a 2015 CX5 with 170,000 miles, and last year we got the CX 50 without turbo, i’m a Mazda fan!
I will be considering Mazda in the near future. My last 3 vehicles were Toyotas and I loved them, never a problem. Unfortunately, no Toyota dealerships have any inventory. If you want one, you have to do it before the car is even delivered to the dealer. I want to see and compare cars before I make a decision. Therefore, it will probably be a Mazda.
100% agree. I bought a used 2010 Mazda 3 back in 2012 with 37k miles. I’m still daily driving it and am a couple thousand miles away from hitting 200k!
My nephew has a 2016 and that thing still going strong. My sister had a 2012 that she drive to 260k miles, with original everything besides breaks. Sold it guy I know for $500. It's still on the road with 300k on it.
Kudos! Mazda makes one the best manuals out there. 2015 hatchback owner, of course manual transmission. Planning on getting a cx 30, again manual. Have fun with yours, great looking car!
@@wildfriscosorry man, here in europe we get them both hatch&sedan with manual. We still drive manual here and it’s a blast! Sure it’s more convenient to have an auto in the big cities, but damn, i get a kick out of driving manuals everywhere. And mazda delivers when it comes to manuals in their cars
Got my wife a 2 litre Mazda 3 in 2018. Great car, amazing brakes, drives great, handling first class, fun to drive and well made. Hers is a hatch made in Japan.
Although not a sedan, we have a 2015 CX5 2.5L, AWD, no turbo. Change the fluids religiously, transmission drain & fill at 50k intervals. We have 240K miles on it and have never needed a repair. Great drivetrain.
My 2012 Mazda 6 has breeched 200K and still going strong. My 2004 Maxda 6 has had losts of minior repairs but finally lost its transmission at 350K. Mazda id where the smart money is, ---Just my two cents.
Those run forever only rust can possible kill them, unfortunately Mazdas and Hondas suffer from rust here in Northern Europe, otherwise excellent cars mechanically.
@@Niko6MPS so far there isn’t any rust on mine, it’s always garaged and in mint condition. Hopefully l can keep it for many more years as I just love it.🤗
I have a 2021 Mazda 3 Hatchback(non turbo), and it is seriously the most fun car I've ever driven. The 6 speed automatic transmission is so smooth, the 2.5 L naturally aspirated engine gives the car a lot of get up and go(considering it only has 186 HP). I plan on putting an aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket wheels, and make a few other cosmetic changes. I highly recommend Mazda to anyone who is looking for something that's fun to drive, gets great gas mileage, and also has a great exterior look and nice interior.
They do. Just can't get them in Canada or the USA. Just like Toyota makes the Hilux which is a smaller truck than the tacoma and is amazing for reliability. Can even get a diesel in it
My base 2020 mazda3 hatch is the perfect economy car lol. Made in Japan, very reliable, all safety features, no piano black all over the center console in the base! And the base trim came with keyless entry.. the powertrain is completely adequate, and it’s so stylish. Plus 30.3 combined mpg, and that drive and handling quality is engaging and satisfactory, even sporty. I’ve had it for two years and I just love it more everyday.
My 2015 is older and smaller (previous generation) and I get 36.5 MPG average doing mostly short trips. Peak fuel economy is 61.4 MPG on the highway at 64 MPH on a hot day.
@@seanthompson8071 dam that’s crazy good, I swear this current generation and the previous one are just an incredible era for Mazda. I think my combined mpg would be higher if I wasn’t so rev happy in the city lol
Based on your previous recommendations and other RUclipsrs and other research, when we had to replace our two vehicles ( one with a bad CVT trannie) Within 6 months we were able to find a 2016 CX5 Grand Touring with 78k miles and a 2015 CX5 GT with 55k miles, both 1 owners with great carfax. 2 cars for less than the price of a new one. Can’t say enough about how great they are. Looking forward to them for at least 100k miles more! 🤞
I own a 2011 mazda3 with 120k miles the best car i've ever owned. I was going to sell it and upgrade to mazda6 but mazda stops selling the 6, so now i'm just going to keep my 3 for a long time. Back in 2011 my friends were all laughing at me when they saw me buy a mazda, but i knew my mazda would outlast all their cars and yes they've gone thru 3 cars and i'm still on my original mazda.
Yep! I own a Mazda 3 2012 and I am looking to upgrade to a used Mazda 6, like last week. I do love this car and it has done nearly 127 thousand. But I want & need a bigger car, ie an estate, I think U.S call it a station wagon, but will settle for a saloon if need be. My other stipulation is it has to be a Sports GT model, for long distance driving and spec. Diesel 2.2 is preferable to me here in the UK, but will possibly take a 2.5. But did love that Kuro edition Scotty was showing though, but they only come in petrol not Diesel.
@@opinionated_one8692Please stay away from that 2.2 diesel. It's very pretentious if it's not taken care of properly. And most don't know how to take care of it. If you're buying used, avoid it. If you're buying new, try not to drive it a lot in the city, a lot of issues with the particles system (dpf), always check your oil as this engine is known for oil level *rising* due to unburnt fuel that gets in the oil pan (don't know what you call it in English) because of failed dpf regenerations.
@@opinionated_one8692 definitely avoid 2.2 diesel from mazda, i seen a few vids from qualified mechanices, and it's not cheap to repair the inherent problem with head parts. I think gasket or something in the head there is made of softer material and it gets damaged over time and it bruises the inside of the engine all over. If mazda then I would suggest aspirated petrol engine
I have a 2008 Mazda 3, so far alternator and one O2 sensor, air bag light comes on and off, have my seat belt on,😊. Original brakes still work, will need new sprigs in the back. Original turn signal lights bulbs still work. Replaced headlights with Panasonic 5 years ago, oil changes each year. Best car so far. My previous car was a 1982 Toyota Corolla with 200k Kilometers. Mazda is at 140k Kilometers.
I beg to differ on Mazda CX-90 model……. We had so many electrical issues and it’s a shame because the engine was amazing! Interior was a little too uncomfortable too. We traded it with less than 2500 miles and got a Sequoia TRD PRO and honestly it’s night and day! We absolutely love the upgrade! Hope y’all’s cars last forever no matter the brand, Mazda just wasn’t for us.
Just bought a 2022 Mazda 3 premium (hatch) with 27k miles and so far i'm loving it! I was looking at a Honda but that CVT and the road noise turned me off. Mazda is soo quiet+ the Bose sound system is just awesome. also I get 29 MPG which is 9 mpg more then my 2012 GTI that I traded in. No regrets yet!
2020 CX-9 Signature. almost 50K miles and just tires and routine maintenance so far. Change oil every 5K. Drives just fantastic for such a large vehicle and has a great interior.
I used to work at Mazda as a service tech. Very well built machines. I love my 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring in Soul Red. Plenty power and great gas mileage, a 5 year old could service this vehicle. Stay on top of your oil changes every 5k, coolant flushes, transmission fluid flushes, brakes, and I replace my sky active spark plugs every 30 k to keep em fresh. They will run forever.
Currently financing a 2016 CX-5 AWD. Im 23 and I've only ever paid in full two vehicles (they were beaters), but i have to say ive never rode in a crossover that felt super smooth.
Proud 2012 6MT Skyactiv hatch owner. Runs like a top with 130k miles and only regular maintenance, handles great, gets 35 mpg around town, I've moved standing desks and dishwashers in the hatch. Great little car, especially after upgrading the rear motor mount and intake. And made in Japan.
I’ve had two of the modern Mazda 2.5T engines and neither have had any issues. No turbo lag, they’re flawless. Faster than the naturally aspirated ones.
Wife bought a 2024 CX-50 and 4 days after pickup, one of her coworkers backed into it and wrecked up the rear quarter panel! I was so mad that nice pearl white paint was messed up! Thankfully, her coworkers' insurance covered it and it looks good as new now.
We've owned a 2023 Mazda CX5 for nearly two years and it's a fantastic value. With the standard 2.5L engine, we enjoy over 30 mpg on the highway and have averaged over 25 mpg mixed driving across 25,000 miles. We chose this car over others because it was manufactured in Okinawa, Japan. Great fit and finish and it has enough "Zoom Zoom" to be quite enjoyable on the road.
I got a 2023 mazda carbon edition at the end of December and I love the car! Red interior is amazing and the audio system is great. Only compliant is space in the back seat but that’s only problems for my back seat passengers 😂 all in all great car
@@VeronicaConvery I wouldn’t know because I’m in Australia and we use Litres per 100km. City driving I get an average of 7.2L per 100km, and on long road trips of open freeway driving I have seen it as low as 5.8L per 100km.
I’ve got a 2021 CPO with 12k miles. Literally mint condition. I do have the AWD turbo hatchback and one issue that is related to recall. Getting a low oil warning that is related to valve stem seals.. gonna get that addressed soon.
@@adventurellama7444@adventurellama7444 That sucks; mine is 18k miles, yet knock on the wood, no issues. Best of luck. I hope the dealer will fix the issues with your car.
I'm in the UK. I have a 2024 Mazda 3 skyactive X Takumi manual. It has a 2 litre naturally aspirated engine. Currently it is returning 51.2mpg, the Mazda app shows 51.4mpg, my figure is my measured figure. It has an upmarket interior and I love the car.
@@auzzieredneck1850 non turbo, the turbo was obviously more attractive, they even offer more colorways if you get the turbo but it was 10k more and I want to keep this vehicle for a long time.
I have Mazda 3 SP25 GT and in 5 years i had not even 1 issue. Normal service every 10,000 km no problems at all. Love the car and for someone who drove V8's most of my life i could not be happier.
Had a 2019 Mazda 3 hatch NA for 2 years and traded her in for a 23 Turbo Hatch PP. Absolutely love it. The power is amazing. Luxurious af. I do my oil every 4k miles. She runs great!
The Mazda Skyactiv-G 2.5 liter naturally aspirated version with cylinder deactivation had oil leak issues in years 2018-2023. The turboversion of the 2.5l had head gasket failure issues in years 2016-2020.
@@MrPicky400 Its ok. I wrote on Mazda engines more generally rather than model specific because they use similar engines with most of their car models.
I hear that, But! My missus has an F-pace 😞, But that follows on from her XC60, and to be fair she doe's keep her cars for around 10 years or more and keeps them a 2.0 diesels, no mad engines.
2010 Mazda 3 2.5. Never had a SINGLE repair bill (just normal maintenance stuff) until 212,000 miles when the transmission started to slip. I like Mazda. 👍
2014Mazda 3 owner here, mine has 200,000kms ++ at the moment yet in my 7years of owning the car i never had any serious problems with it. Just regular oil change, , i just replaced the serpentine and water pump belt once. And still it drives great. Will drive it until it falls off.
I have one with a turbo and get around 27 highway and 20 in town. I'm not a speed demon, but do love the feel of the turbo compared to the N/A ones and it's not a tiny engine, so maybe the turbo will hold up for a while. I do keep my cars maintained. Time will tell. Only thing I don't like about them is the 12 gallon gas tank, but love this car. Never owned a Mazda after coming off of 4 Dodges. 1 Charger and 3 Challengers, and none of them gave me a single issue. Dumped Dodge and went with Mazda and love it.
My Mazda 3 is an off lease 2016. Came with 2 new front tires & 23,000 miles. I have replaced the batteries Including the remotes & changed the oil in 5 years use. No problems it is smooth riding 28 mpg automatic shifts into 5th gear at 28 mph. Now is 37 something thousand miles handy 5 door hatchback I will keep until it breaks. Sorry it was made in Mexico Scotty only rattle is if I slam rear doors no noise while driving. Hope this helps your viewers.
Owning Brand New is great and SCARY. You do fret and worry about every little thing. I agree with Scotty about the mental freedom of owning a pre dinged and scratched used vehicle.
that's easy to say but used 2-3 year old economy cars are so similar in price to a brand new version that it just makes sense to buy brand new and get all the new car warranties. Seems like all used cars are overpriced nowadays!
My girls 2021 Mazda 3 came out to $23k at the dealer grand total and 0% apr. The thing has had no issues at 85k miles now. We've ran it thru every weather condition and its superior handling and smooth powerband has made us handle everything no problems. Everyone who doesnt know cars is always asking what it is and assumes its like $40k because of the interior quality and exterior design.
Had an 82 280zx non-turbo. They came out with the turbo the following year and my friend who sold Nissans tried to get me to trade mine in. I declined and drove mine for 14 years and 225k miles and it was still running good. Those '83 turbos started disappearing from the road after about 5-6 years.
I drove a Mazda 3 hatchback during a business trip. It impressed me enough that I think I want one. I thought it was a crossover until I looked it up. The build quality is Lexus good, although Mazda could push more of the cheaper plastics out further beyond the driver's eyeline. And I found the center dash screen clunky. But it was a great experience to drive it, and the driver side mirror turning down to show the curb automatically in reverse was a nice touch.
I love seeing Scott randomly upload Mazda 3 videos. Makes me feel good about buying my 21’ Mazda 3 select model. About to drain and fill the transmission fluid at 75k miles 😎
Got a 2024 hatchy but i got the turbo. Worth it. Gas mileage isn't that great I get a 28 mpg average and yes I know it's gonna break little faster. But gosh darnit I'm here for a good time not a long time. Let me enjoy a 6 sec 0-60 zoom zoom.
The way I see it is even if it only makes it to 150k instead of 200-250k, that’s still a lot of miles for the vast majority of people, and it’s 150k fun miles
I had a 2006 mazda 3 sedan 2008 GT hatch back (just sold at 280kms- still running great) and got my 2021 GS hatchback with 30,000kms in June- and LOVE IT. I think he summed it up nicely and it’s what I tell people- it’s not THE most fuel efficient, but it’s extremely fun to drive. The only reason I will trade this car in would be to treat myself to a slightly newer, maybe brand new GT model.

Mazda is the most underrated brand in the world. I worked at mazda for 5 years and there was barely any cars coming in for serious service. They also make beautiful cars for a good price.
Probably because nobody buys them or drives them. They are decent cars though
only time ive ever had a major issue was my control arm needed replacing. that wasnt due to the quality, that was the due to the state of massachusetts and their millions of pot holes. this one was made by whatever company tore up the road and didnt fill and small hole they made. big enough for just my tires to fall into .

@johnf6687 I'm a toyota guy myself. I have a 84' and 87' pickup, an Xrunner and a 5th gen 4runner as my daily. My wife has a taco and a rav4. But I give credit to mazda for making well made cars.

Mazda gives consumers WHAT THEY WANT for a reasonable price. MAZDA 3 IS THE BEST LOOKING AND MOST RELIABLE CAR IN ITS CLASS, PERIOD!
I was on the Mazda showroom floor a couple of weeks ago and my was I impressed! They make good looking, reliable and sophisticated cars
I have the CX3. I get 40 mpg on the highway. It’s fun to drive
You are right, this damn turbos killed so much motors. Mazda 3 and 6 are nice cars, from inside and outside.
You're not talking about Mazda turbos.
I’m on my 3rd Mazda, great cars! Love the MX5!
I love these type of Mazdas even the suv ones they are very nice
I drove a Mazda 3 hatchback during a business trip. It impressed me enough that I think I want one. I thought it was a crossover until I looked it up. The build quality is Lexus good, although Mazda could push more of the cheaper plastics out further beyond the driver's eyeline. And I found the center dash screen clunky. But it was a great experience to drive it, and the driver side mirror turning down to show the curb automatically in reverse was a nice touch.
My Daughter's CX-5 has the same engine, but it's made in Japan...I don't expect one single issue with 5k oil changes.
I love seeing Scott randomly upload Mazda 3 videos. Makes me feel good about buying my 21’ Mazda 3 select model. About to drain and fill the transmission fluid at 75k miles 😎
Scotty's the MAN . way to go.
My 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback has 194k miles with a stick, drive 100 miles every day. Zero problems, it is a great car that gets 35mpg on the highway.
I had a 2006 mazda 3 sedan
2008 GT hatch back (just sold at 280kms- still running great)
and got my 2021 GS hatchback with 30,000kms in June- and LOVE IT. I think he summed it up nicely and it’s what I tell people- it’s not THE most fuel efficient, but it’s extremely fun to drive.
The only reason I will trade this car in would be to treat myself to a slightly newer, maybe brand new GT model.
