I've driven a Lexus, a Mini sport, a VW, a Peugeot, a BMW, a Skoda, been on a Mustang, amongst others... but Mazda feels the best on the wheel. The best brakes as well.
@@cringesh1t427 yeah it’s going to be next one 100% for sure. But I won’t get until the car I own now needs a high cost fix. Saw some full equipped mazda3 for a good price. What’s ur country?
In my opinion, the standout quality of the Mazda3 is the steering and handling. I can still remember the first time I needed to dodge some minor debris on the highway, because the car made quicker and sharper movements than I was expecting... but even so, the car did not lean or feel unstable at all. I needed to get an automatic for the commuting and for my wife, maybe not ideal, but it's like the everything car: practical and fun and versatile.
154,000 miles on my 2015 Mazda 3 and... No issues and still runs like new. Transmission still smooth and responsive. Suspension still holding up and smooth ride. Literally the only failure I had was a dead alternator which I replaced around 120,000 miles.
Have had a 3 for nearly four years now and I can honestly say it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. A shame you drove the automatic because you missed out on the great manual gearbox option. It has the slickest of changes - feels like a rifle bolt. Well worth going for the manual rather than the auto. Better mpg too!
100!! I totally agree with you! I also have a Mazda 3 hatchback (2013), 6 speed. & I gotta admit its the best car Ive ever had as well. Super fun to drive too! :)
@@sleeplessaquarius i keep wondering if i can find one of the turbo models but with an auto/paddle shifter tranny?? Im pretty sure on picking the 3, though i would LOVE to find a good deal on a focus turbo or a nice GTI vw again too!! But having only maybe $6grand to spend my choices are pretty limited...
@@drsrsv8884 depends on your driving style and when you change gears, potentially yes, most manuals do better on gas due to being able to idle while going downhills, even then the mpg is generally negligible, but manual does give you more freedom as far as passing other cars without waiting for the transmission to kick down to passing gear
i watched this video last year and went out and bought a 2015 3 GT S fully loaded for a great price and I love this car! Have owned it for about 6 months and have had 0 issues :) I even bought the module to add wireless carplay and installed it myself! Thanks for the video!
i also recently bought myself a similar 3 and i absolutely love it! would you be able to send me any information about the wireless carplay module you installed? sounds like a feature i could really use
I have the 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback with the highest trim level and all of the options (US version). I am very happy with the car. With the 2.5 L engine, hitting the "Sport" button and manually shifting the automatic takes it to another level. The steering feel is amazing as well. It looks cool and can go fast when you need fast. What is a mind blower is that they packed all of this BMW level luxury into a 3002 pound car. It's a four door car that weighs in like a two door stripped down sports car from the '90s. Not much heavier than the 1993 RX7 but loads more stuff inside.
Are your '14 and '15 2.5's turbo motors or just naturally aspirated!? I think an auto with paddle shifters on a turbo motor would be really nice! Im pretty limited with what i will be able to buy with only a $6 grand limit.. oh well, least i can find something that'll still be fun and fairly quick!!
@@BabyCharlotteschannel The US ones are not turbo but that's fine for me. It's quick when I want it to be and the reliability is better than a turbo engine. Most fun is how it handles. I'm looking forward to putting on Koni shocks, Eibach springs and a thicker rear sway bar.
I have a 2016 3 I sport that's been through over half the states, every weather condition I could find, and has been rebuilt a couple times because of wildlife interactions. It's such a nice car that there are now 5 others in my family/friends groups.
I've fallen in love with Izumi, my Soul Red '14 Mazda 3. Just a perfect large hatchback. All the boot space for a few cricket bags, all the cabin room for the cricketers as well. Ride and handling: simply sublime and there's enough guts to be enthusiastic with the right foot whichever engine you pick. Road noise is probably the worst aspect of the car, but it's not absolutely appalling. The paintwork is thin and scratches easily, so be as careful as possible to minimise stone chips. Honestly though, it's worth the price of admission alone when you see the beautiful design, in its perfect soul red paint in good sunlight after a nice clean. Like all cars, look after it, don't rag all the time, regular services, and check tyre pressures and fluids every now and again and top up/replace if needs be. Do that, and it'll run for a lot longer than you expect
The crazy thing to me, is I'm in Wisconsin and although the paint is chipping pretty badly on the roof, rust really isn't taking hold. It seems to stay very surface. Similar on the underbody - you can see rust but it's like it starts and stops. I think they're using some alloy that juuuust barely stops it from eating the car, or it's so slow that it won't be a limiting lifetime factor.
I have a 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback, 6 speed. 3 miles when I bought it brand new in 2013, now its Summer 2022 & Im already about to roll 200K miles! It has been one awesome car! Not ONE bit of trouble ever & its so fun to drive! :) & I just put a rack on top for my kayaks :)
I have bought a brand new one back in 2007, the car has 250.000 km, the only issues I had over the years was the left engine mount (as you mentioned in the video), and one belt tensioner. Now I am looking to buy a used 2020 one and based on my experience, a well maintained Mazda will not let you down.
Picked up a '15 mazda 3 and been looking around for reviews trying to find out what everyone thinks of them, way more positives on it than any other car I've seen so far. Definitely super excited for it arrive now.
I just bought one a few weeks ago myself - 15 3 hatch SGT. Silver like the one in this video. Mine has 65,000 miles on it. Bought it from another state 900 miles away. Other than putting on some new brakes this car now seems good to go - my 8th Mazda and it’s a gem.
Absolutely agree on everything said! Got this as my first car, handling is unreal and the car is so fun to drive! Tire noise can be really loud and the leather seats are really comfortable!
I had a 2017 mazda 3 as my first car and absolutely adored it. Got a 2018 mazda 3 in manual a while ago and Ive loved it since. Beautiful body, profile, comfort and sound
@@lostinlucidity Well its a pretty decently reliable and fuel efficient vehicle especially the automatic. I drive a manual like a dumbass rn so its not assss gas efficient but still decently efficient. The hatch also fits quite a lot for being a small little car but Im not personally not sure about the sedan. Ive never had any engine or transmission issues what so ever owning one and for an economy car its pretty nimble, at least the North America 2.5L version. The touring, I believe also comes with really nice feeling imitation leather and a decently luxurious interior for its price.
I had a 2014 sport Nav, loved it, beautiful to drive, no rattles or squeaks, and I disagree on the road noise it was ok, traded it at 90K miles, nothing ever went wrong.
I have had my 3 for nearly 7 years, and have decided to keep it for another couple of years, until I can get a used electric car at a decent price. I have never before owned a car for this length of time, and the reasons why I'm happy to do so are: (1) the 2.2 diesel engine is a smooth, torquey gem - what a pity that Mazda no longer put it in the 3; (2) the manual gearbox is so slick and fun to use; (3) the power, steering and road holding make the driving experience feel sporty, yet it's an economical car to run; (4) it still looks better than other cars in its class. The few problems I've had with it surfaced after about 5 years: (1) the touch screen started making false commands, which I understand to be a common problem in 3s built around 2014-2017. I disabled it myself following various RUclips videos, and in any case I hardly ever used the touch screen, preferring the captain's wheel. (2) the engine coked up and needed a complete overhaul after about 6 years - my most expensive outlay (900 UKL), but it's going strong now at around 80,000 miles. (3) the sound system amplifier causes a buzzing on bass notes - I'll probably get it replaced but can cope with that at the moment. I agree that excessive road noise is a fault, which Mazda corrected with extra sound insulation in the new version: If I regularly drove a lot of highway miles I would prefer a quieter car, but it's not an issue for the mainly B road driving which I do. I would say it's the best value car I have owned in around 40 years of car ownership.
I have a 2014 Mazda 3 Sedan, and I can confidently say that it is one of the best vehicles I have used. It is a good, reliable car if you maintain it well. I still have the car, and no major repairs have been needed yet. It is an all-in-one car, it can be a sports car, a daily driver, or a family car. This car is very unique and, in my experience, cannot be compared to any other.
I've owned a 2017 Mazda3 Sport GT automatic for 7 years. I purchased the "Premium Package" which included an amazing number of comfort and tech features for the cost. I love the vehicle! It's not a "hot hatch" by any means, but it's a great balance of quality, economy, practicality, driving dynamics, performance, and luxury. While I have moments when I think it would be nice to get a shiny new vehicle, I quickly realize that I can't justify the expense because the Mazda remains a very reliable vehicle that is fun to drive.
My wife and I bought a 2015 Mazda 3 (manual) two years ago and we absolutely LOVE it! Such a good looking car and so enjoyable to drive. Best car I've ever owned.
I've had a CX30 since December 2020. It's equipped with an automatic 6 speed gear box, it's the top level trim and it is superb. It's been through its first service which where l live is at 1 year or 20.000km. I honestly love the rotary dial for navigating the infotainment etc. It really is the best and safest option. I can't understand the love of a touch screen. A great car which is sporty, good looking, comfortable and makes you feel proud to own. Forget all the German competitors at more than double the cost and not so well equipped. Thanks and well done MAZDA. Just go on improving and innovating.
I agree. After driving a car that required you to touch the screen for the silliest of things, the rotary knob on the Mazda is a breath of fresh air. Other car manufacturers should take notice.
Our family brought a 2015 Mazda 3 in the 121kW six sped manual variant second hand from the local dealer here in Germany. We got the CarPlay retrofit installed and it has been a great car over the last two years. It has no problems on the Autobahn and can happily sit on 160km/hr without feeling twitchy. Over taking is no problem either.
@@jcuadriello It’s a dealer installable kit for most Mazda’s 2015 onwards. It works well and is definitely cheaper than the Mazda map upgrades each year.
I've been really impressed with my 2010 mazda 3 bought it at 100,000 miles for 4500$ because my previous car broke and I've only had to do minor repairs to it. I just hit 150,000 miles and it's still running strong
I got a 2008 Mazda 3 and love driving it. It had 104,xxx miles when I bought it almost 4 years ago and today has 151,xxx. My a/c no longer works, will cost a grand to get it fixed but I decided to rough it in the heat because I figured if I'm going to do a thousand dollar car repair it's going to go on something more serious than keeping me cool and it has. It just cost me $1,400 for front brakes, shocks, and a boot. My 6 disc CD changer player has also quit working but I haven't looked into the cost of a new one because my radio still works and I imagine that's a costly fix too and I can do without it. One of my low beam headlight bulbs went out and that will be a $200 replacement because the bulb is expensive so I drive at night with my brights on so both side light up. And the brights really aren't that bright because no one flashes at me to turn them off. $200 bucks for just one bulb is insane but I probably will get a new one eventually. But other than those things, I just keep up with oil changes and it runs great.
@@septembersapphire347 omg that's so expensive, I want to ask how come alot of problems or failures come from Mazda 3 when you have driven it to at least 200km?
@@amukhb8608 Hey my CD player started working again on its own after not working for many months! I have the grand touring model so I think that's why the extra cost. The reason it's a grand for the a/c fix is because it needs a new compressor and those are very expensive. My car's black with black leather seats so you can probably imagine how uncomfortably hot that is in the summer🥵 but I don't have that kind of money.
Son of a gun i see a mazda3 grand touring in my area with 114k on the clock and its going for 8k. When i talk with the dealer I'll try to talk him down.
2014 Mazda 3 S GT Hatchback (US version), currently at 100k miles, been paid off for years, excellent car, very fun to drive and reliable still puts a smile on my face, Car still feels solid like a new car, Interior is still upscale and leather is in excellent condition, I'll be driving it for at least another 200K, my previous Mazda 3 2009 first gen is still running, current owner just reached 400K with no engine/transmission problems Average 42Mpg on the highway with the 2.5L Skyactiv, On long trips I've seen up to 47MPG average, just try to stay out of Sport mode if you want the mpg's! 2016 base model owner here. Great car. As reviewer stated the Bluetooth kit is not good on this particular model. It was great when we got it but successive iPhone models later they don’t like each other. Sound quality of stereo is great. Air conditioning performance is excellent as well as a fast starting heater (infinitely faster than my upmarket spec 2011 Touareg diesel). Excellent headlights for a cheap car. It took a while to get used to the brake pedal feel -initial travel appears long compared to other cars- but as for braking performance they are excellent. Handbrake is conventional and annoyingly our Mazda dealer service team don’t adjust at every service so there is way more than three clicks before firm biting to hold. Changing oil yourself is very easy if you want to go down that route just ensure you get wheel ramps that suit the low slung and relatively long front overhang of the car. The auto gearbox is conventional (thank goodness - no CSG droning and no low speed DSG finickiness) and our 2.0L is a good combination. On long trips you will realise Mazdas mileage figures but not around town. We get about 8.4L/100ks in Sydney. It’s an excellent car for the cheap skate model we purchased. Very pleased. Easy on tyres and like review said it has a very pleasant steering feel and ride. Our model doesn’t have low profile tyres and is definitely quiet on long drive.
I've had my 2014 Mazda 3 i Sport for 9 months now. Actually got 41 mpg going on a trip averaging around 65mph! Engine and transmission is smooth as butter with the interior looking as quality as a BMW. One review had the 2014 Mazda 3 beating out the BMW 1 and Audi A3. Don't overlook the Mazda 3 if your looking for a FUN car that LOVES corners! My Mazda 3 sailed around a set of curves that my Elantra had to somewhat labor to get through. And finally for the new design year of 2014 Mazda tightened up the body/suspension 30% over previous years. And the Mazda was already known for being a tight car before 2014!
I just got a used 2018 Mazda 3 GT sedan with about 56k kms on it (with the 2.5L G engine) and so far I live this car. Handles and feels fantastic, it’s easy yet fun to drive, good on gas consumption, feels cozy and wrapped around me, was easy to wire in a 10” sub in the trunk, and mine has Apple CarPlay in it already, over all fantastic vehicle.
I have a used 2017 2 litre Mazda 3 which I bought when ran only 7000 in pro. One of the beat decision in my life. Incredible car with low maintenance and good fuel economy.
I live in Canada and bought a used 2010 Mazda 3, 2.5L engine and it has the ‘tech’ package (9 speaker Bose sound system, AFS headlights, leather, sunroof, navigation system, etc.). I love my car. It’s peppy, reliable, a smooth ride and corners great. I love the steering responsiveness as well as highlighted in this video. Definitely would recommend!
I've had 3 Mazda3's. A 2005, purchased new, a 2009 purchased used and a 2015 purchased used. The '05 with 266,000 miles, was given to my son who promptly wrecked it. The '09 was in a 4 way stop fender bender this February. The insurance totaled it; 239,000 miles and 13 years old. My present 3, the 2015, has about 67,000 miles and is driving great. All three are manual transmission (I don't know how to drive automatic), and I do most of the regular maintenance myself. The motor mount mentioned in this video is an Achilles heel, and I've changed two. One repair I don't do is clutch replacement and that gets expensive. Road noise is not something I pay attention to, so I can't really comment on that. However I do not use original equipment tires, so that may be why I don't seem to notice. Overall my experience has been such that I'll be driving 3's as long Mazda keeps putting a manual trans in them. If anyone is curious, the 2009 Mazda3 GT 2.5 liter Hatchback was my favorite.
I loved my Mazda 3 and had it for 3 years. Another thing worth mentioning is that the wing mirror motors can fail but it's easy and inexpensive to fix 😊
The Steering precision and feel on this car is amazing, there's great feedback for sporty driving, you really get to know how much traction you got left, what the wheels are doing, you get to feel the road surface and imperections, all this despite it being an electrically assited steering, which also proves soft and comfortable for everyday commute. Sometimes even premium brands like mercedes and audi fail to nail the steering. Also, the stock exhaust note is good, especially when paddle-shiftin at 6.5K RPM or downshifting into a corner, or downshifting into full throttle to overtake. Also, since it is not that high powered, you really get to use all the power and grip by hitting full throttle with no wheel spin nor traction loss. The brakes have not let me down either. Finally, very reliable, fun, and good looking car. Quality stuff from the Japanese.
Own a 2014 Mazda 3 with 163,000. Zero issues. Still get 32 to 35 mpg and fun as hell to drive. Bought my son a 2019 awd 2.5 Mazda 3. Phenomenal little car. Feels expensive and drives like a go cart. I'm looking to buy the 2021 awd Turbo top of the line mazda 3. These cars are stout and fit and finish is above par. Its an affordable and reliable vehicle with good mpg.
Here’s hoping they finally put out an AWD Turbo that comes with the manual gearbox! Only thing holding me back from upgrading, especially with New York winters
I downsized from a BMW 740i to a Mazda 3 2.5 Litre 2014 model with "Heads Up Display" Phone Connectivity, GPS, CD Player. I purchased it from a Mazda Dealer. I agree with your comments, it is an excellent vehicle and I love it. I have already recommended it the Mazda 3 to a number of people I know wanting to purchase a smaller car.
I used to have a 2017 Mazda 3 Touring. Favorite car ever!! I may be a huge Mazda fan boy butt even after driving the Mazda 3 its been a huge joy. It felt better to drive than all of my familys vehicles and i personally felt like it was the perfect size for me
I bought my 2005 Mazda 3 new. It’s running as well today as ever, with 125k miles on the clock. No major replacements except battery and tires. I have taken good care of it and cannot say enough good things. Always use synthetic oil and added MMO to the gas the last couple of years.
Have one, 2014 with the small 1500 engine, already at 175,000 kilometers and the car still looks and runs like brand new. Thankfully no issues with it, only the stop & go battery which you need to replace every 2 years and pretty expensive (250$)
Still owning the 2015 High spec 2L 162hp 210Nm engine. Design wise still modern in comparison with newer cars when you park side by side. Aside from that is a reliable car just the paint quality is thin (easily stone chip) and road noise is rather bad.
I've had a 2014 SP25 GT since 2018 and it's still fantastic. Interior has held up brilliantly, still looks fantastic and haven't had any complaints driving-wise other than wishing it was turbocharged. Only mechanical issues were rear struts needing replacing at one point, but that's literally the only major alteration it's needed in 10 years. The spinny dial thingo to control the touch screen becomes second nature in no time at all and once that happens, you'll instantly jump on board the "touch screens while driving are a terrible idea" wagon; the screen only responds to touch when stationary and even when I'm not moving, I still use the wheel. It's super easy. Worth mentioning - Mazda offer (at least they did, might be a research task) Apple Carplay that is done in-house and doesn't require any major overhauls or your screen being ripped out for something that looks silly. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it was around the same price as getting a subscription for only a few years of updated maps, so worth it, especially with the speakers! If you want something relatively cheap whilst also being comfortable and a blast to drive, or wanting something for your teenage child who wants to get away from you every night, this is the one.
If you're gonna buy a used diesel one, make sure it has full mazda service record. It is essential that the right oil has been used. Also I know this is hard to find out, but if it has not been driven properly , like taken on regular long drives, you're in for some expensive repair jobs, and even engine failure. When bought, firstly take it for a 30-40min drive in 4th gear, 3000 rpm, to regenerate DPF and blow all the soot out. Then take it to mazda for a full service, and hopefully the engine is not full of wet carbon. If it is, you're looking at a £750 bill for walnut blasting. That price is with mazda dealership though. I've had 2 of these, I got both of them running sweet, but you gotta be aware of this, as I've read this is quite a common problem
I still have my 2014 Mazda3 hatch 2.0 manual. 80,000 plus miles, no creeks or rattles. No problems. Replaced tires at 40,000 with Michelin. Car still drives like new.
Picked up our Mazda 3 in 2016. With 60k on the clock, the only problem is with the iStop, which hopefully will be sorted out at the next service. It is a great car, and the only improvement I could ask for is less road noise.
You've convinced me through my 3 month second hand car search journey to land on a 2015 SP25 Astina. No Holden Astra, or Volvo, VW, or BMW in the end for me.. Don't think I'm going to regret it, though!
I got a 2017 Mazda3 a year ago. It’s the base model, but still an awesome car. I paid way too much at the dealership to have CarPlay installed after the fact, but glad to have it. It’s been a really reliable, super fun car and I’m in love with it, even a year later. Definitely going to get some aftermarket wheels at some point though. For those curious, gas mileage on mine tends to fluctuate and my car seems a little moody, but city I tend to average about 28 miles per gallon, and highway it can be anywhere from 34 to 41 miles per gallon depending on all sorts of things 😂 when my tank is down to a quarter remaining I usually fill it, and it usually takes about 8-9 gallons. Most I’ve gotten on a tank was 332 miles all on the highway. So there’s your in depth real world fuel economy 😂 base model sound system is pretty good too. Super solid car
I have a 2006 SP23, 5spd manual, which has 370,000 kms on the clock. By far the best car I’ve ever owned. I replaced the clutch and the engine mount you mentioned about 20,000kms ago and the front suspension some months later, as the RHS one failed. Other than that, it’s been plain sailing. Everything is exactly as you described with this car and I don’t plan on changing it any time soon. Obviously it’s well looked after and I love it. Great to drive and whilst it’s not the most fuel efficient, still gets around 9L/100kms, which is okay. Reliable as you could ask for.
Put about 160k on a 14 iTouring hatch and the only failures were one bad spark plug and the front driver side hub bearing. Both I changed myself. One of the best cars I’ve ever owned and super easy to live with.
I am just new owner or mazda 3 2018 petrol 2.0 56k miles and I love that soooo much. Just mirrors do not fold. Probably need new motors. 70 pounds each and anti rust wax from bottom next week. Beautiful luxury ride for 8000 pounds.
I have had a 2010 Mazda 3 (which was written off in an accident 😢 in which all the safety gear performed as it should) and now a 2015 Mazda Astina and I love this car so much I don't want to part with it even though it is now 8 years old. It is super reliable, a dream to drive, incredibly comfortable, has maintain its looks and performance over the years and still feels as tight as it was when it was new with no rattles. I love it and heartily recommend them.
Just bought one, the power curve and how the transmission is geared is amazing. The car also handles incredibly well, it does need some improvements because it has a good amount of body roll, but this can be fixed with cheap bolt-ons and. The style can also easily be improved with some ebay browsing also. Cant argue. Just dont go looking for power add-ons. This car is meant for the turn not the straight.
Love my manual 2016 astina hatch, had it lowered and just put some yokohamas on it and the handling is fantastic! This car has pulled me up and honestly saved me a few times from those that seem to just float through life randomly. Honestly my Mazda has saved me a few times to count! I've bought Mazdas for years and love them.
It’s not slow by any means though to be clear. I just bought a 15 3 hatch myself a few weeks ago and immediately took it up to close to 110 mph. It didn’t take long to get there. My 3rd 3… a joy to drive!
My first 2017 Mazda 3 touring auto gets just bellow 120mph so must investigate better rubber and a simple eng/trans inspect-tune with an improved exhaust system. Be nice if Mazda would drop the turbo engine in the sedan from factory. In the states, started out in Hawaii to Washington.
I still have my 08 mazda3 2.3L up to this date. 280 000km and still going strong 💪. Transmission on this car is so great. they can take a lot of abuse ( but make sure you do your maintenance ).
I have the 2019 Mazda 3 hatchback fwd automatic and I love it its a great car and I love the stiff ride Quality and it gives it that sporty feel and I love how you sit low in the seat to give you that sporty feel everything feels premium inside and settle and not cheap like others cars no regrets buying it keep up the great work Mazda 👍👍👍👍👍
Best car I’ve ever had, very peppy and tight.and it looks good to. Black 2010 ,dark tinted windows, polished aluminum wheels. Zero problems other than an Oxygen censor.. Honestly I can’t believe how well this car was put together.
Keep it maintained and with Mazda's styling. It will always look new. Mine always get curious questions because it looks cool and different from the norm! (The German cars...) 😀
I have literally just bought one in the uk. I liked it the moment I sat inside and it ticked all the correct boxes, it’s nice to know that I have found a great car and I plan to continue to look after it
Mazda 3 I. 2012 I hatchback. Skyactive 380,000 miles and I still have many things that are still fine. Cooling system is in fine condition. All cooling parts are still original . Brake/rear rotors last 73,000 miles Brake/front 60,000miles. Alt working. Orig starter All electronics and switches all work. Parts are not too bad price wise ,use internet . Org radiator , weakest link seems to be rear shocks/shock bushing. Sway bars ( ft and rear) can make a ton of popping noises when worn Around town Car still gets 29 mpg with 20 mph ave speed. At 73mph it gets 37.5 mpg. Oil consumption rate is One quart per 1950 miles ( this is from the two notches on the stick ) This by far is the best car I have ever owned all things considered.
i bought a 2014 Mazda 3 SP2 6 months ago and love it, the quality really does shine through, I hadn't noticed an issue with tyres noise on my 18 inch rims although being 6/7 year old now i guess the factory tyres have now been replaced,
Bought my 2004 second hand, eleven years ago. It's doing 183000km. Since I owned it i changed brake fluid apparatus, right front ball joint and indicator switch. It is a fast car. It can go to 140km just like that!😀 Does not start on park. Must put it on N to start.
I had a 2005 with the sport trim, extra body kits from factory, came with the 2.5, automatic transmission, a SUNROOF but no leather seats tho, bought it used in 2008 for 20k, they sold it to me and it was already starting to rust, they painted over some rusted sport it lasted me 6 yrs and the whole car bent in half and junked it for a 2010 Mazda 3, I missed the older one it had a sunroof
I drove a face lift version of one for work every now and then and it had been absotutley abused; destroyed interior, mismatched rims and the exterior had dents and scratches all over. The front bumper was constantly sagging because some employees don’t care/understand ground clearence to kerbs… It took me a while to get used to the very low sporty seat placement. But the enjoyable steering coupled with firm suspension and a smooth manual gear shifter made it an overall good driving experience. Aside from all that the mechanical problems that I was aware of was the battery constantly dying (requiring a push start) and an oil leak onto the manifold I believe. I also needed a new clutch at some point but I would put that down to the other users of it not having much mechanical sympothy. Overall I would’ve enjoyed it more if it was in any better condition and I agree with video. Good car
A few years ago I bought a 2010 Mazda 3 1.6 petrol for 2k as a stop-gap car until we settled in UK, with the plan to replace it soon after with a "fancier" car. I fell in love with it and 3 years later I'm still driving it. Apart from the usual service the only thing that went bad was a low beam bulb. Never missed a beat and it's very cheap to run, with a low insurance group and decent fuel consumption. If/when this car packs up odds are another, newer Mazda will replace it.
Pretty much due to this channel, … we have purchased a 2019 Mazda 3 G25 GT Sedan for the kids to share. 100% my favourite car channel on RUclips, or in fact anywhere. Many thanks for the reviews and the education. Bloody awesome!!!!
I have a 2017 Mazda 3 Hatchback. The gas milage is fantastic and it corners like it's on rails! The newer models like my 2017 are very quiet inside. It's the touring edition so the heated seats are awesome and the automatic/6 speed manual is a perfect combination for a daily driver.
Ive had this model for the last 8 years. No issues at all. Most reliable car ive owned. Looking upgrading to the current shape but there is none available in todays used car market.
I had a 2008 Mazda 3 that I loved and was planning on driving forever. Then I got rear-ended and needed something different. Been driving the 2012 Mazda 3 for the last 7 years and I love it also. Was planning on driving it forever. Just got in another car accident yesterday and it’s a total loss. Time for more car shopping forced upon me. Another used Mazda 3 is still at the top of the list.
We solved the road noise by using quiet tyres as we progressively changed them. Best car we've had. Just love driving it. Great when driving steady, and really rises to fast driving handling. Ergonomics of driver controls are excellent, particularly the pop-up projection info panel in the line of sight. Ours bought in 2014, fully loaded model. Therefore long term test is good (now 2024) with no significant servicing/failed component surprises. ps, error in report. It DOES have USB connection, in the armrest. We use a connected iphone for navigation, music, podcasts etc etc. (usually via Blutooth)
I bought mine used. . O7 mazda 3 with 35k miles. . Bought it in 2012 and since then I have driven only 65k in it. . The few things that went out were the driver window stop rolling up. . That was a 450$ fix. . Then the disc changer got stuck. . That was a 300$ dollar fix at local audio store. . Had a Alpine put in. . It's been good to me. . Down the road I will get a new Mazda. . Good overall ride. .
Finally seeing some top-notch quality video for second-hand cars segment. Very informative, covers everything you need to know, no sugar coating. Very Impressed and subscribed.
One got a US spec 2014 Mazda 3 Touring with the 2.0L engine and a 6 speed manual transmission. That's the year we got all the upgrades in the US. I've got 250k miles (400k km) on it, and haven't had a single major issue, and only a few minor. Minor oil leak around the spark plug in cylinder 3, driver seat slider is stuck, and the lock button on driver's door is temperamental. It's about to need a new clutch, just started to slip, but that's the original clutch from the factory. Sparks were replaced at 180k miles, all other maintenance done as scheduled. It's a fantastic car, and I don't expect it to fail any time soon. It's ride isn't as nice as it used to be, it's a little to loose and slushy, but it's still great fun to throw around corners. 10/10 highly recommend.
I've worked at a mazda dealership for 2 years as a tech and they are solid cars, almost never had any engine or transmission failures. It was just normal maintenance. After leaving I purchased a 2013 mazda 3 with the skyactive g drive train and I've had it for over 3 years and it runs and drives amazing, I tell everyone to buy one over a civic or Carolla
have looked a bit at the mazda 3 because they are praised for reliability and it looks like they have good seats too. But I wonder how they are when the car has traveled well over 200,000 km. Are they then as durable as an old corolla? And can they run as long?
Just traded my Mazda three in for a Mazda CX 30 so far I love it Mazda kept telling me they wanted my car so I know the Mazda three is in big demand mine was a 2018 and the CX 30 is a 2022 and I think I got a really really fair deal and so far I love the CX 30 has all the bells and whistles, plus a sun roof, a fun car to drive, hoping gas mileage will be close to Mazda 3, supposed to be 24 in city, Mazda 3 was better.
I have had a 2014 Mazda3 for 10 years since new, It is my baby I love the car even after 10 years. It get oil changes every 3000km with full syn, I have had no problems at all. You can beat the quality.
I'm in the states and I would absolutely love to own one of these with the 2.5 l engine and a manual. For a commuter car they handle incredibly well and look even better in person.
I own a 2015 Mazda3 2.5, a 2016 1.5 Mazda2, and the next generation 2019 (in the US) Mazda3. The 2015 Mazda3 is my favorite of the bunch but all are great cars. That generation Mazda3 is the most fun to drive. It handles the best, has the best visibility and so on. After 100,000 miles (161,000 km) I have had almost no problems. The only thing I did beyond the basics was a little extra spent on the brakes. I had to replace both Pads and Rotors with non-stock pads and brakes to eliminate a problem I had when replacing pads. I would recommend that generation Mazda3 to anyone who enjoys driving and is not in need of more space. The next generation Mazda3 lost some of the Zoom-Zoom. It is far more refined, softer, more luxurious which is not what I want in a car. Given the two, I would buy the 2014-2018 Mazda3 any day.
Nice review - the Mazda 3 SP25 is a great car. I bought one for my wife in 2014 and paid $33k for a brand new SP25 Astina sedan with a 6 speed manual. The Astina was fully loaded and was alot of car for the money. I agree on tyre/road noise which seems to be something Mazda cant or wont fix, but otherwise it was a great little car. I was not aware of the boot rust recall issue (probably because we sold the car before the recall was put out) but do remember being disappointed when i noticed surface rust showing through the paint where the spot welds were when the boot lid was raised. Especially disappointing car was new and detailing regularly by myself with high quality detailing products. My biggest gripe with the Mazda was the poor paint quality in general. Very thin and soft paint with lots of orange peel. As a keen DIY detailing enthusiast, this was frustrating. The paint chipped and scratched so easily.
I think the facelift model has sorted out the noise problem quite well. At least our 2017 sedan is pretty quiet with standard 16" wheels. At least Mazda did put some more noise isolation to the facelift. For us it's a great motorway commute vehicle and it also is a fun drive on smaller roads in summertime. It's a great all-rounder with good looks and very affordable price and running costs.
I own mazda3 gt hatch. Bought it new back in 2015. Yes, the paint is thin and there is too much orange peel which i hated. I used denim pads on my DA with polishing compound. I worked on it for many hours and significantly reduced orange peel which made it look like a show car. It has totally changed the looks of the cat and made it look better than newer m3. Added 2 layers of nano coat which helps with adding protection to the paint. However, lots of labor.
The Mazda 3 is a pretty fun to drive very reliable car. Its hard not to recomend almost any Mazda as they just seem bulletproof and many of the techs say they don't have a lot of issues. I've driven a couple in the past and there just really good daily drivers cars with a decently pretty good interior to boot, while they might now be the fastest there still super great cars. I also drove a CX-5 for a while and it was another super great car plenty of room good on gas and reliable, its hard to go wrong with a Mazda.
I drive a 2011 3s hatchback with a six speed manual. Bought it with 80k on it and now 6 years later it’s got 198k and still drives as good as it ever did. I’m good at keeping up regular maintenance on it. I’ve had a coolant door that got stuck open that I had to get fixed, and the horn went out which I replaced myself with a “freeway blaster”. The sway bar is a little noisy, but it is a 12 year old car at this point and I have no issue replacing worn parts on it. With the back seats down I can put heaps of stuff in it and use it to transport my bikes when I travel to organized rides (I’m not crazy about mounting them on top, plus it is secure inside the car). Fun to drive, not a race car, but zippy and sporty. I like that Mazda seems like the only car brand that doesn’t have a “upscale” brand like Toyota/Lexus or Nissan/Infinity. They just make the Mazda an exceptional brand in and of itself. Killer car. Definitely a good buy.
Some trims do come with Android Auto and Apple Play, installation is also not too difficult. Would say this is an important thing to keep in mind when getting this car.
Awesome video, picked up a 2015 hatch mazda3 s GT the other day. Its got good pep in its step with the 2.5 engine but can drive economical when you want it to. Interior is super nice, feels much better than your typical economy car, really like the red stitched trim. For those worried about infotainment, for the 2014-2018 models you can install carplay/auto yourself or through the dealership, it's a little spotty compared to other cars that come with it stock but still works fine. I'm excited to tinker with mine, great little car!
I have a 2017 Mz3 2.5 HB manual. Best car I've owned so far. I'd highly recommend one. It does everything I need. Things I don't like, though: Instrument cluster is a disaster-The LED tach is a HUGE miss, no remote hatch release either in car or on the FOB, and in a rush, 2nd gear grinds easily. Other than that, I love everything else about it. Some prefer the sedan version best. But the HB is about as utilitarian as a small CUV without those issues. And WAY more reliable than an Audi A3 or VW Golf....
i noticed 2nd gear does that in mine also! even though i got the new 2022 model 6 months ago, i noticed that 2nd gear feels too tall for quick shifts out of traffic, and the car really doesnt like downshifting back to 2nd above 20km/h. still had a lot of fun with the car so far, one of the last manual sedans you can still get here.
I owned a UK 2005 mazda3 TS2 1.6L manual transmission from Aug 2005. Traded it in last yr Sept 2020 for new Mazda 3. In the 15yrs my 05 Mazda and I did 176k miles. There were a couple of years where winter was minus 10, but had no trouble starting in the morning. I had it serviced every yr. It had a drive chain (not cambelt) so saved me from bother of changing that every 70k miles. Trouble free motoring up to 12 yrs. After which knock sensor went but was fixed, then needed starter motor, easily fixed. Rear Suspension needed few bits. Finally in July 2020 a hose and pipe for power steering fluid leaked. Because of covid had difficulty getting the parts at my local garage (Mazda dealers wanted far too much money to fix it) so I called it a day, and got a new Mazda, otherwise I'd still be driving the 2005 model...and it felt as though it would run and run.
Bought 2014 2 liter 88kw one with roughly 80k km and can't get enough of it. Everytime I dirve it, it feels great, everytime I look at it, it feels great. It is also quite reliable and serviceable at home. The only thing I wish is the 2,5 liter engines were available in Europe, which kinda sucks.
I had a 2.5 in my old 2005, that came with the sport trim and high end trims, the whole car rusted out before the engine died, now I have a 2010 Mazda 3 that come with the 2.0 cuz it’s the base model
I have a 2017 SP25 Astina and it is the best and most refined car . It does every thing I ask of it and when you put into Sport mode it really gets up and boogies. Great car I couldn't recommend then enough
A wonderful car for it's money. Reliable, comfortable, with an energetic character. Have one '04 (1st gen) and another '18 (3rd gen facelift), both run flawless. Keep it going Mazda!
I live in Canada and i have a 2013 Mazda 6 sedan .. with a specially ordered from the production line having leather interior, sun-roof, along with the rare manual transmission (6-speed stick). I am closing in on 1/2 million kilometres (that is, about 325,000 miles, i think). It is my belief that I may be able to go for another 9 years to reach a million kilometres with zero troubles. I drive my car literally everywhere.
Have a 2021 Mazda 3.... best car I've had/ been behind the wheel of by far!!! Honda, Hyundai, Ford, Dodge, VW..... don't even compare tbh. My Mazda isn't the top trim but can't complain or fault it at all, would strongly recommend 👌
I just picked up a 2017 Mazda 3 hatch, 2.5 Grand Touring (US) and I absolutely am in love. I had a 2006 3 and it was a good car, but I ran into some reliability issues after 155k mi which were mostly due to age and emissions. Everything you said in this review I feel is spot on with my new 3 and I hope to have it for many years to come. The interior is just enjoyable to be in.
You can actually take the car into a Mazda dealer and get android auto/apple car play added on to the existing infotainment system. My 2014 has it and it works great
@@Broke_boss1 yes any mazda with the Mazda connect system 2014 plus has a kit from Mazda to add it on. Costs around 400 USD for the parts and labor at the Mazda dealership. You have to have the 8 inch screen. If you don't it won't work. You need to bring it to the dealer because they have to do a software update on the infotainment system before installing the kit.
I've driven every car under the sun. I used to work as a detailer. I also have owned alot of different car brands. The Mazda 3 is still my fav car of the bunch. Just the fact of all the power is useable. Actually i would argue a Mazda 2 would be even better as it's slower and has less weight but there not available in north America anymore
Love mine, I got my 2018 used Mazda 3 at 20000 miles for $18000, it wasn’t the color I cared for(brown) but it’s the top trim with heated seats and wheel, heads up display, electronic hand break, etc.
I just purchased a 2018 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Sedan off Carvana ($22,000), has a measly 9,000 miles on her, nice red color, 6 speed automatic, 2.5L engine as well 🙃 Haven't been this excited since I bought my '92 Cadillac DeVille for my very first car at 16 😁

@@aleeexxx9wondering if you ended up deciding on one as well? In need of a new car and am having trouble deciding on which mazda3
That’s nice to hear. Did you ever change the transmission fluid?
Bought my Mazda3 a couple of years ago. 2015 model. Had about 25k on the clock.
Unfortunately in my country we only get auto
What year has a slick transmission?
i watched this video last year and went out and bought a 2015 3 GT S fully loaded for a great price and I love this car!
I have 15 with the 2.5L auto, and I like the manual mode, but the shifts are soooo slow
You hit the nail on the head with this one.
Please did you buy it new or with kilometres on? I am thinking of getting one. I see some with 170k and even 190k. Not sure if I should go that route.
I have a 2016 3 I sport that's been through over half the states, every weather condition I could find, and has been rebuilt a couple times because of wildlife interactions. It's such a nice car that there are now 5 others in my family/friends groups.
Mine went to moon and came back and still driving
Just bought Mazda 3 sports 2015 , I must say it is amazing
的确,油漆很薄,因为厚油漆很费时间不划算,日系车都是能省就省,😂不过这个车时间长了听别人说底盘生锈

I have bought a brand new one back in 2007, the car has 250.000 km, the only issues I had over the years was the left engine mount (as you mentioned in the video), and one belt tensioner. Now I am looking to buy a used 2020 one and based on my experience, a well maintained Mazda will not let you down.

How's that Mazda3 been since? @@kenb5995

My car's black with black leather seats so you can probably imagine how uncomfortably hot that is in the summer🥵 but I don't have that kind of money.
@@septembersapphire347 thank you for replying! I wish you the best and to your Absolute beautiful car Mazda3 hehe
Do you still have that car was it good looking to get one
I have a 2018 mazda 3 grand touring. Love it!
Fun to drive, great Bose system. Sporty car that gets lots of favorable attention!
And what is the fuel efficiency looking like?
@@GeorgyAbraham1998百公里100/7.3 ( 2.0)
What was the price range tho?
I have the same issue didn't replace the battery as yet buy I ready to resell I have the mazda axela sport 1.5 on 18inch rims
My mileage for my 2014 Mazda 3 w/ 2.0 liter engine is pretty much spot on with your results!
How much was it to get fitted?
@@vids940 My dealership charged me a little over $500, but scheduling it their website said it’d be $400
Hi Katie. Hope you see this in time. Do you have any electrical issues with it?
How is the maintenance and parts??
I had a 2008 Mazda 3 for 12 yrs and it was a great car. Never a problem except for maintenance and replaced one shock.
100%
@@buchajo People who think this car is slow OBVIOUSLY don't know how to drive. 😎
I still have my 08 mazda3 2.3L up to this date. 280 000km and still going strong 💪. Transmission on this car is so great. they can take a lot of abuse ( but make sure you do your maintenance ).
Yep, my old one I sold to a family member. 380,000kms nothing gone wrong apart from the fuel pump at about 300k.
I drive a mazda 3 2014 as my first car and I love it! People always think its a brand new car.
It can go to 140km just like that!😀
Does not start on park.
I have a 2007 Mazda 3 I brought used from a dealer. It’s excellent never had a problem with it
I drove a face lift version of one for work every now and then and it had been absotutley abused; destroyed interior, mismatched rims and the exterior had dents and scratches all over. The front bumper was constantly sagging because some employees don’t care/understand ground clearence to kerbs…
It took me a while to get used to the very low sporty seat placement.
How is the real life fuel consumption on that engine
Pretty much due to this channel, … we have purchased a 2019 Mazda 3 G25 GT Sedan for the kids to share. 100% my favourite car channel on RUclips, or in fact anywhere. Many thanks for the reviews and the education. Bloody awesome!!!!
Thanks so so much mate!
I still have 2018 and its been amazing. Still a great car.
Thank you so much. - AK
I was a Mazda Technician for 18 years. These are excellent cars. They also have belt tensioner failures, but they're not expensive to repair.
I have a 17" Astina, I fixed most of the road noise by sound deadening the vehicle myself, though it was a lot of hours of effort to do...
I love my mazda 3. Got it in 2015 and it is still amazing. Have not had any problems with it other than normal maintenence.
Now I have a true rear legroom! With your long chassis, I love that space. Thank you kindly.
As long as you don't go for the diesel you're right, they're more reliable than most competitors.
I have owned my 2015 Mazda 3 manual sedan since new and it is still a pleasure to drive, no way will I sell it.
I bought a Mazda 3 sport 2L petrol about 8 months ago and I love it quality, looks, price and its fun to drive
I recently got a 2018 GT 2.5
You can actually take the car into a Mazda dealer and get android auto/apple car play added on to the existing infotainment system. My 2014 has it and it works great
For real?
@@Broke_boss1 yes any mazda with the Mazda connect system 2014 plus has a kit from Mazda to add it on. Costs around 400 USD for the parts and labor at the Mazda dealership. You have to have the 8 inch screen. If you don't it won't work. You need to bring it to the dealer because they have to do a software update on the infotainment system before installing the kit.
@@mnwolves180 cool. Thanks
@@Broke_boss1 no problem, you are welcome!
I just bought a 2022 M3 Hatch soul Red and Love it I am getting about 40 to 43 MPH
and I get lots of compliments
Love mine, I got my 2018 used Mazda 3 at 20000 miles for $18000, it wasn’t the color I cared for(brown) but it’s the top trim with heated seats and wheel, heads up display, electronic hand break, etc.
I just purchased a 2018 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Sedan off Carvana ($22,000), has a measly 9,000 miles on her, nice red color, 6 speed automatic, 2.5L engine as well 🙃 Haven't been this excited since I bought my '92 Cadillac DeVille for my very first car at 16 😁
@@CommanderLongJohn How has it been?
Bought a new 3 in 2005. Totaled it in 2020. Best car ever. RIP
For those who don’t know, you can take this generation mazda3 to the dealership, and they’ll install applecarplay for you! (At least in the US)
