- The latest economic report from the International Monetary Fund forecasts a better 2024 for the world economy than previously predicted. However, the IMF's data suggests Germany is falling further behind other major economies. Why is Germany struggling to bounce back? Which countries are driving global growth? And what potential threats lie ahead in 2024? We discuss those questions and more with Petya Koeva Brooks from the IMF's research department.

You really need a lesson in history. Until 1990 we simply were not allowed to have a big army because the victorious powers (US, UK, France, Russia, etc.) wrote it in the contracts. Between 1990 to 2022 the EU were in peace and there were no reason to inflate the army.

I am not sure why countries try to compare their economy to ours so much. The United States economy has been on a consumption war path since the 1800s. While most of Europe was colonizing to gain riches until the mid-1900s. Plus, regardless of political in-fighting the consumer trusts the government enough to keep spending.
