Who's this guy? 3 min in you got my subscription, very good editing skill here , no temptation to fast fwd thru the intro.
The same thing happened to me
He had me within 2 minutes of discovering this particular video. I hope the rest are this good or (Dare I hope?) better.
@Dragon Ladyz I've enjoyed all I've watched, even on topics I wasn't interested in!
Russell crows brother
Same 😄
Just stumbled upon your video. Great work, I appreciate that you add in some humor and humility along with education. You are a very skilled person! Looking forward to watching the remainder of the build.
Wow! Such a nice comment Dandy, you made it to the " I read it out loud to the wife category" which is a very exclusif selection 😅 Thanks for it, you really get what I m all about 😁👍
@@VinyB57 ahhhhh, you made me blush
@VinyB57 which safety factor have you considered in that design? Nice job!
Single axle trailers work great for small cars. Especially if it’s balanced you can’t beat it! However that frame is waaaay heavier than necessary! You do you but .120 wall tube would have been plenty.
Came here hoping I’m not the only one that noticed how beefy he made it
He did say that after he got a "proper" tow vehicle, he was going to lengthen it and add a second axle...so I understand why he made it stronger than needed to begin with.
I’ve been wanting to do something like this! With my experience in towed Artillery, I’ve seen how hydraulics are used to raise and lower wheels on the guns that are essentially also a trailer.
"This is not a racing trailer.... Yet" i went to like the video a second time and was disappointed when i remembered oh you can only like it once
🤣🤣🤣 Such a shame you can't like twice....but thanks for the thought! 👍
@@VinyB57 it would be really cool of you could
Lol. Youre doing machine work. Perfectly parallel? With a tape measure? You mean to say relatively parallel.
If you was to put the same thickness washers between one line and the frame on each end. Then when your lines are separated by a one washer thickness you know you spot on.👍
I didnt know this string trick. Only measuring for square.
Washers trick.. All the better.
@@turboflush
I thought you was looking to see if the frame was flat.
@@ronweber4508
Not looking.. But yes both require different tools. One string and other measure tape.
....... Granted yes adding a second Axle would increase the load rating of the trailer it also adds to the stability of backing up with the trailer. though they are rare having a two axle short trailer does not actually change the requirements of what you need to tow the trailer based on the load. As long as you don't load the trailer to its full weight capacity(which I doubt you can do on a short trailer) when towing it with the Minivan you'll be just fine.
Tandem axle does not back up easier LOL
That all being said that trailer will last forever using that engineered steele tubing.
Did anyone else thoroughly enjoy watching him flip the trailer over?
A little toe in is a good thing. 1/8 "
The RUclips algorithm is most often total crap. Not a fan of anime, zit-popping, aaaand there’s only so many cute cat videos I can stand before I wanna punch someone.
But every now and again, a true gem shows up- like this video.

Great idea! What is the back up in case of a failure in the bags?
suffer,
Just like a leaf spring failure
It hits the deck
I'm at the 15 min mark and I'm hoping he builds in some pre-camber so that when the trailer/arms/axles/rims/tires flex, that the tire will flatten out rather than go negative. Most straight axles come with a degree or two of pre-bend/arch so that they ride flat with a load.
I've only watched 2.5 minutes of the first video and I already went to Viny's Etsy store and purchased the plans lol
thanks Jon! 👍
You are Crazy Awesome! So cool Tricks and you share them with us. Bless you
@12:36 there may be a reason why men have shorter lives....
Also you had a fucking come along this entire time... And you struggled with the engine hoist... SMH! (I really can't judge I've been there before myself)

Ok so. Just because you use 2 axles doesn’t make the trailer weight much more than with 1 axle. Whatever the weight of the second axle, and mounting hardware is all you will add. Also your statement about pulling it with a minivan made no since. Haveing 2 axles actually would allow you haul more weight Because as long as you’re cargo is loaded evenly biggest part of the weight will ride on the 2 axles. With one axle everything in front of that axle will ride on the tow vehicle. My opinion the reason you didn’t want to go with 2 axles is because it would have made your airbag setup much more difficult to pull off.
Oh my man, just wait until you hear about the newest thing -TRIPLE AXLE TRAILERS!
Hi Vinny B, How this are the frame tubes? Im not seeing and option on the plans page for US dollar. Maybe i just missed it.?

Dude!!! You are a bad mama jamma!!! That’s just so cool.,,, it’s smokin hot!!!!
Thanks David
Oh, I consider the comment section the interactive part of all this. While you at it and you didnt ask but just let me say this. Go buy some quality, heavy duty shocks. Even air shocks maybe. Go ahead and fab in mounting points for the shocks. Carry the shocks with you in the tongues toolbox. Along with a nice fat bottle jack. In case of air bag failure or air supply failure you can just bolt in the shocks right quick and carry on with your mission. A plans are good. They aint worth a shit though if you dont plan for plan B and plan C. God bless and enjoy life my friend.
It’s a non issue. Airbag failures are almost unheard of in the trucking industry, and they are ALL rear air suspension the last several decades. If they would fail, that’s where they would. And they just don’t.
@@moparproud3978 almost unheard of. Unless someone overloads the trailer and blows out the bag, or the older bags that are horribly weather cracked
@@MrJamestheredneck Nope. Try again pal. Overloads the trailer🤣 Guess how I know you’ve never driven truck? And weatherchecked. Again, guess how I know
@@moparproud3978 well explain to me how I made 3 grand last month on air bag failures and replacements working on trailers then

This video popped up in my suggestions and I loved it. Immediately subscribed! Great content, great entertainment. I think we tend to gravitate towards people who remind us of ourselves, and I found myself laughing at Viny as he talked to himself... I have to believe he would be just as silly if there were no camera. I do the same thing when I am working.
Hey big thanks for your comment Matthew, glad you liked my video ...and yes I m naturally silly 😉
This video was SO well produced, your personality SO engaging and the workmanship SO good that I just HAD to subscribe. I really enjoyed it!
I thank you SO much my friend and welcome in the club! 😁

Build a 2 ton trailer to haul a 1 ton car with a shitty mini van….. l.o.l.
year late but if u had strapped the from center of the rear and lifted you could have grabbed the front and flipped it over with ease
Fantastic Welds!...but its always the small things that are funny....Why didn't He use the ceiling mounted winch FIRST to flip the frame
looks like it is fully laden before you put any load on it :(
Only 6 days left in August 2021 buddy..
Brother, Awesome build and Love the Hayabusa Smart Car! Question did you measure cross corners on frame? Just curious how close you were! Best Regards and Keep Safe!
Yes yes I did, when I squarred the frame up, how close..don t remember, it s been a year now 😅
@@VinyB57 Awesome, Thank you Brother for responding back to me!
Brought here by YubTub algorithm. I'm not disappointed. Great video, great work. I can't wait to go back and see your other video series.
Thank you very much! Still thinking about new series...I may start phase 2 on the smart! (roll cage, lighter componantes, differential...)
@@VinyB57 I'm just now watching the Smartabusa videos. The fab work is amazing. I binged most of them in a single day. If your just want to finish the car, then I would say go ahead. If you're looking for more views, I would recommend finding a new project. The algorithm likes new material.
Love these videos I love the part when u we’re on the ladder in between the frame during the flip and you did the “ I almost died laugh” I find myself doing things this way also just makes things a little more fun however I would’ve recommended putting a chain on the side you want up and then using your cherry picker to lift it in one pull.
I have laughed that laugh!
? Did I miss the measuring corner to corner? For square
I built mine a little heavier with a dropped and flipped trailer house axle. I did a air bag flip
Change the transmission fluid in the minivan before use...
I may change the entire minivan! 😅 But yeah, I know the transmission if one of their many, many, many weak spots. 🤦♂️
@@VinyB57 great job with the trailer...as always
Just a degree of toe-in for my order. Not sure what the pros do...

Less strengh and load capacity...?

The second axle is so you aren't screwed when a tire blows, particularly if you are going to be towing with something lightweight. Lighter trailers are nicer to live with, though.
Ummm.. spare tire?
@@ReduxGarage tire blowout with a car on it. Not fun. Extra tire make it stable if you have a blowout on the freeway.
Less moving parts means less weak points means less breakdowns. I like the novelty of your trailer and respect your skillsets. However, with function over form in mind the trailer I built for myself
I wanna say you are right but if you need a trailer to fulfill a specific role and that requires no comprise on moving parts even if the parts break and have to be replaced or fixed usually it's cheaper than whatever damages might occur if you didn't have those parts
You don't necessarily have more moving parts.
Haven’t seen your design on a double axle but it is a no brainer really. No need to extend your trailer by three feet either. You only will have to use two heavy truck airbags and do away with the existing ones. The rear tyres will have minimal gap between the front tyres.🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
That's some expensive metal... It's not even done yet and it's almost heavier than my single axle Carson trailer which is 12 ft long that's one heavy trailer for a van to tow... but nice job you're quite a fabricator..
My suggestion. Get rid of the string. Go buy a cheap line laser. You can level it. Also use it to get center line as well as align up the pivot points with great accuracy. It's much faster.
Yes and no, with the strings, I only have to level one side, compare to the laser, I 'll have to level all 4 corners, right?...faster, not sure...but you are 100% right, that I shoud upgrade my tooling arsenal with a laser...makes no sens, been building a lot of things and I don't have one 🤦♂
You wouldn’t here anything about Saul axle in Puerto Rico. They use single axle units predominantly
I was waiting for a “Tabernac”
🤣🤣🤣... I stopped swarring a while ago....you no having kids changes a lot of things! Good one! 👍
Its tabarnak calise
re the ending, double axle is a waste, if the trailer is balanced right, i'm thinking, maybe a clip in section of spine, so it's got more tongue strength for heavier vehicles, though that's some heavy metal, shouldn't be needed.
I think too! 👍
The rope trick always worked for me but you can also use levels, lasers etc. Then it becomes complicated and a lot of time wasted.😱🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
You should check out Bad Chad channel. He's doing a airbag system. Maybe you could let us know what you think. Because you are a awesome designer and fabricatior you might be able to offer him some suggestions. He is a fellow Canadian from Nova Scotia.
Way late to the party. Built one 15+ years ago. It went behind a bagged Escalade that laid frame and carried a bagged quad with a crotch rocket motor and 20’s. And yes, the trailer I build would lay the frame flat on the ground.
Obrigado.
Olá, estou vendendo as plantas desse trailer no meu site: 57design.ca
A double axle trailer would help your van by taking some of the tongue weight off, especially with how heavy you built the trailer... Also, there are a few companies that make air ride trailers.
I do second this. He was looking at it as 'I dont need this amount of capacity so why add the second one' which is understandable from that viewpoint. But really you can drive at half the trailers capacity no issue, while being more balanced and helping the tongue.
You can load the vehicle/cargo etc to have the right tongue weight, but then you hit a bump and its like a see saw bouncing behind you.
But man I am impressed with this guys setup, knowledge, and skills in building this.
@@justinstevenson2061 Oh yeah, he's definitely an experienced fabricator. So cool to see him create this from nothing. Plus he updated his tow rig after I left my comment lol
600 lbs? Im interested in seeing your trailer brake system and the type of tire you use as that will be a significant part of towing capacity. Meet in the middle. Two axles? Lol. Think about this. Dually set up for wheels and tires. That'll get them.
as one of the ladies that intro cracked me up lol
1:36 - Horizontal? Nah, Parallel!
I want to do this to my camper trailer
Why not just use a second straight trailer axle to create the pivots for the swing arms. way cheaper faster easier and alignment is built in?
That could be done, but the angle would be way steeper and you would have the unhook the trailer from the vehicul. So feasible for sure, just not what I had in mind for my project.
I can't help to think, that with the cost of steel now, the trailer must have cost about $3-$4k...in parts and steel..
Hey I have a idea in case of emergency let the airbag deflate so it can drop and stop by itself with brake assist or install some rubber stoppers I’m just saying
Finally... something new to watch of you! Good to see you again! 👍
Thanks man! Yep, anothor (small) serie built. And then it's racing time!
"oh yeah, $%!$ man, I'm gonna do my own design" got the like button. "tow a one-ton car with a %@##! minivan didn't make sense" got the subscribe button. Keep up the great work with common sense...the world is lacking in both nowadays.
What size of tube you using?
I enjoyed your video. Excellent job designing the trailer. One issue though is it appears your welds are not full depth penetrating the full thickness of the steel. That will shorten the life of the welds and increase the likelihood of fatigue cracking. Be careful. You don't want a part of the trailer falling off while towing it.
You can buy one out of Australia.
...was leaf spring sprung, low to the ground( not too low) and made a tilt back trailer. Just old fashion leverage and fulcrum. Enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Tu as vraiment du talent.
I like this but I wonder if the rope trick for squareness is potentially inaccurate because it requires the assumption that the tubes themselves are straight without warp. Or am I overthinking it?
Do your plans come with a WPS for the welding ?
Nope
With a little modification in the design, you could make a wicked ice fishing house outta this! Love it!
I have enjoyed watching this video and I would like to a copy of the plans also. But I would like to make a suggestion on the tongue of the trailer. When building the tongue for more strength of the tongue instead of welding it in sections like you did in part one may I suggest using one length of tubing to go from hitch to outside of frame back from front to third cross member welding to each one and the outside rail. This will increase the strength of the tongue for the load.
It's a smart car you could literally put it on the back of a flatbed pickup truck if you wanted to
Agreed...one that has a 6 feet wide inside bed...that smart is real fat and wide thing!
i would like to buy the drawings. but ur link is unavailable :/
It's there: 57design.ca/
Your video is nice but it seems as if you cheated your frame was precut frome someone else the American video he done the frame from scratch.
One axle trailer it'll make your vehicle Rock up and down
You should quit that job at IT and start welding is your main job You are that good
Thanks CollRaul, I still love my job, but gonna maybe start spending less time doing it and more in my own shop, welding steel... 😏
And here we are!! Good to see you back
Nothing wrong with the American. So he took his time and did indeed work on other projects at the same time no filmed.
Hi what software did you use to create the trailer, or draw the trailer?
Solidworks
Draw bar is not strong enough it should be all the way from axel to ball hitch no joints for it to be strong
Great 👍Job! I plan on building something similar using torque hub axel stubs and air to only raise and lower the deck. If I can suggest transport trailer lift axel airbag design it may remove a bunch of weight from your project.
Sounds great!
