Brilliant, I have one suggestion though. Add a "pin" so if the bags fail the trailer is not on the floor.
Then they can't act as suspension though?
The airbag is part of the suspension. It absorbs the bounces and dips in the road. if you put in a pin in it it would be too rigid which could possibly cause the frame to bend or twists or welds to fail every time he hit a bump in the road
@@nathanplatt5517 your both right, how bout a safety chain so the air bags could flex and if they fail, the chains will catch it.
@@southern_merican safety chain or if the pin hole was more like a slot so it allowed vertical travel up to a certain point. I'm sure there is a technical term for what I'm thinking of but idk it.
@@lowside67 they can’t act as suspension if they failed anyway, it’s a good idea to have a way to keep it off the ground so it can be moved
Awesome build man! If I can make a suggestion, put a leveling valve on the trailer for the airbags. This way the trailer always rides at the right level so you’re not over extending the bags
Yes a leveling valve is really must have item as it adjusts to changing loads automatically. Also a travel limiting device. A strap or shock.
Just so you know, you can just buy axle stubs and brake kits. I work at a truck store, they're very very cheap. Also makes a great axle pivot since any trailer or truck shop or even Walmart would have replacement bearings if ever needed
RUclips algorithm brought me - but I'm staying for more! Awesome work, great design!
Awesome! Thank you! 👍
Same! Just subscribed
I know it's been 3 years, but I just found your channel and I find your content fun and educational. I love to see a dad include his kids in his builds!!
This system with an 1:64 ( or some other mulitpler) truck tire torque "release helper" would be much better, or what do you think about it?
I love the build but I hit the subscribe button because you took time to include your kids and let them have some fun.
oh... don't forget the kitten... kittens always work. It doesn't get much better than kittens & kids!
Excellent choice of music. Some insect got in my eye watching the reveal and the pride in your impressive accomplishment!
😂 good one...👍
Playing the entertainer while taking it off the Saw horses... Priceless!
Living Breathing Exoskeleton! Cool n Creepy at the same time! I hope you pass your ingenuity on to both your son and daughter. Awsome Sauce.
No doubt the most precision built trailer I have ever seen. Wish I had your tooling. You should have made it a tandem axle trailer. If you live in an area with rain, snow, sleet, road salt, ( judging by your mini van, you do ) be ready for that nice paint job to turn to brown rust. You skipped the necessary step of having the frame completely sand blasted before PRIMING and finish coats. Ask me how I know. You have a beautiful family and a great sense of humor. I feel totally compelled to subscribe now. Thanks for the video.
I’m looking at it thinking “with the length of that arm, how do you work with twin axles? I reckon the only solution is to fit the rearmost axle in reverse, in other words the arm & suspension is behind the axle.
Nice to see someone using bushings where they should instead of bearings.
Nice trailer!
What's the advantage of bushings in this situation? I can see cost and easy of manufacture being two, but what would the others be.
@@andyvoytko heavily generalized bushings are good for high load and low RPM. The balls in a ball bearing can wear in into the seat but the bushings do not like a lot of rotation constantly. That is the trade-off I have heard.
I'm my 15+ years of machine designing I always used bushing for low RPM and high loads and bearing in the opposite situation. For the trailer, since there's no real rotation, ball bearings will have the tendency to spot, so bushing was a no brainer for me. BUT, we all have to be carefull, they are develloping new materials and now some bushing are really perfortmant for rotation. I used brass-graphite flanged bushings in some thigh space application, where they are in constant rotation and I know, from refurbishing these machines years later, that they hold up to the taks!
Brilliant video, Warts and all, love it. Nice Engineering.Great seeing the kids enjoying Dad's work, Cheers from Michael. Australia.
I've always wanted something like this, but with bigger tires and higher ride height for hauling my Tenere. No ramps needed and the ability to go up dirt-roads as needed for recovery or whatever else. 👌🏻
My goodness that's some incredible engineering, fabrication, and most of all - EDITING! top notch!
Thanks Phil! Spending a lot of time behind that computer for editing, it's around 15-20 hours per video, so always appreciated when it's appreciated....that was a strange way to put it...😅 But again, thanks man! 👍
Your shop shenanigans looks like my boy and I when we're working on stuff....your trailer handling technique looks like something I would do 🤣🤣 awesome videos
Hey thanks Seth! I wish I spend more time in the shop with my boy...but apparently, Minekraft is more fun than my garage 😥 Glad you worked with yours! 👍
I have wanted to make one for years. I found THE video. It's enough to get me going
Hey glad it inspired you Christopher! 👍
I like me a bit of over-engineering and some humor. Thanks man, really awesome job and video.
Thanks Claude! 😁
Damm good job. Your trailer better then a $20,000 One very impressed with your work perfect 👍👍👍
always a good idea to measure the door before you build something inside, I built a 36" wide aquarium once and then realized my exterior doors were an interior door size of 33" Great design, I will probably order the plans!
At first I thought you were from France, then thought maybe Canada.
Then looked it up, just north of us here in Indy. Such a great pleasure, love your French Canadian accent and humor.
Take care.
Thanks Jonny! 👍
that was the right laugh for the situation 👍 !!!
Awsome build! excited for the dual! the T-rex was hilarious 😂 😃 😄
😅👍🖐
What a awesome concept and execution of the trailer.
Thank you Mr Johnson!
Well done.
I thoroughly enjoyed your trailer suspension build 👍👍🤠
wow this was just an awesome hilarious video. i came for the trailer info subscribed for the comedy
tres bon, from an old guy who only had french lessons in grade nine back in the 70's.
Not only that I subscribed I enjoy the two videos of your building the trailer
Love it how low to the ground it goes and it’s gotta be nice having now air bag s suspension
Bravo super nice trailer 👍
Absolutely fantastic. Great design. You knocked it out of the park !!
Glad you like it Paul!
Love it!!
Best part of the build is the Kids😊
I'm 100% with you on this one! 😁
Always up for some good fabrication...neat build!
Thanks!
Are you french Canadian? The accent kind of gives it away.. I am loving the channel. You're hilarious, but talented. I enjoy watching others share their craft. Thanks! And thanks for bringing in the kids. I believe if we get our kids on fire for something at a young age, our passions and hobbies live forever
Can't tell from the accent, but his "en théorie", the lil' girl saying "ça gonfle" was pretty obvious.
Looking great. One thing though. Make sure you limit the travel such that the wheels never leave the ground. Otherwise half the trailer weight will transfer to the tongue, way overloading it.
Very nice work :) I did chuckle and at jump-jigging testing :)
I know right...😏
Awesome job brother!!!
You are a really smart guy. It's a nice build on the smart-busa and the air trailer. Perfect work.... subscribed
Great! thanks for the sub 👍😁
Magnifique travail, félicitations 🎉🎉🎉
Muchas Felicidades Joven Por Su Canal.

This guy needs to go viral
YEEEEEESSS!!!!! Let's GO!!!!
I am interested in the plans when there ready, love the build
Found your channel by luck and glad I have awesome fabrication..
Thanks Gazza!
That's nice hell yea brother looks great 👍
Can't wait to see this unit done
Dude, Mad skills There !!! And I’ve been a fabricator for 36 years and a gear head for life. Awesome work there. Beautiful Family also !!!
Man, sick build. I’m ready for the plans.
I'm working on it at the moment!! by improving it! 😁
Viny you are a mad scientist !!! lol That trailer is turning out to be very awesome!
Thanks Kevin, Glad you enjoy it! 👍
I'd love on for my Goldwing... excellent !!
Yes, I'm thinking about it, maybe making a smaller version for motorcycle!
Viny me and you are 2 peas in a pod. The trailer put down in the garage was funny af.
After the part one I just jump to the part 2.. and this is my first time commenting on youtube video because this is the most sweet, interesting, creative video I have ever watch over many years I love it bro nice work.
I'm glad that I deserved your first comment! Thanks John, happy you like my vids/projects! 😁
Hoo les enfants sont bilingues. So cool !! 🥰
Le plus vieux un peu plus que la plus jeune...
Awesome build
I highly recommend a bearing for that pivot shaft. Trailer lift axles have such. Longer lasting and grease fittings. Also leveling valve hrlp on smoothness.
Well hell after seeing you jump on itn dorsnt need a leveling valve.
Very Good my Friend..!!!..you have a good team work..!!...jaaaaa....Saludosss...
Nice work with the suspension man!
Very cool DIY trailer!!!
I hope that he will withstand the weight of the car and will be able to move normally. He just jumped too easily under the human weight. Maybe there is not enough pressure in the pillows?
P.S. the video quality is at its height, so do not give up and keep shooting, I think you will soon grow into a big channel
Yes, there was not a lot of pressure in the air bags and yes thank you, I will continu to work hard on my channel and vids, maybe one day I'll get a decent size channel? 🤷♂️
@@VinyB57 Well, you got one more today.
I watched your "compressed" Smart Hayabusa video, and now this car trailer with the air bags. A little bitty thing like that Smart car has a pretty good chance of getting flattened in the area where I live. There are too many semi's pulling doubles loaded with hay on the narrow country roads. That trailer though, that's a great idea. I've hauled a bunch of race cars over the years and it's always a pain. By definition, the race cars are really low and the transition off the trailer is always trouble. I don't know why that idea didn't come along years ago!! 👍
bro respect you have golden hands👍
thanks man!
Wonderful 👍!!! You are genius)
You’re back!!!! Missed you. J’espère qu’on pourra voir plus de contenu de ta part!
Salut Sylvain! J'vais essayer de garder un bon ryhtm de vidéo cet été, surtout avec des vidéo de course avec la smart, mais probablement un point moins de gros projet.
Loving your build and your style. Awesome that you include your gorgeous kids too. Question- do you think the shocks would work better if they were more vertical? Just thinking they won't have much effect as they go overcentre in their travel.
I agree. I don't think the shocks are doing anything. The vector is totally wrong. --Doozer
Viny, I have send you two links that you might find useful and make another video on the trailer 😂😂🇷🇺. With the hitch modification you may get a little bit more ground clearance at the rear end and will also level the trailer when towing.🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
Très beau travail 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Merci Guillaume! 👍👍
Awesome video! I’m now motivated!
Great! That's the goal!
C”est super ton projet !
Merci Luc! 👍
Love to see how you would make this tandem axles with full drop axles..... The way you have built this I worry about wheel alignment over time. Nice job!!
Hi Steve, about the tandem axel, it's a good point, I'll try to show you that version in the last episode! Thanks for the comment!👍
@@VinyB57 That's great! Thanks Viny!!
Excellent project
Merci Yves! 👍
Looks soo easy! Or make it look easy.... but great job as juserly.... and people is starting to find your canal and thats good..... pppppsssdyyyytttt!
It,s all about the editing...that'sthe key of easyness...😅 You cut the parts that you struggle the most...but you put some in there when it's relevant / entertaining enough...😉
Salut du Quebec. Je suis étudiant en génie mécanique et j'adore vos vidéos.
Merci A!
Super travaille tu minpressionne beaucoup tout une texnologique
Content que tu apprécies mon travail! 👍
Très belle job avec le trailer
Merci! 👍😁
THIS IS AWSOME!
Thanks NAV! 👍👍👍
Nice job. 🤘🏻
Loving everythingabout this, the engineering, the humour (I threw in the "u" for you!), wondering if the DXF files will be part of the plans?
YES, FOR ALL THE LASER - PLASMA CUTTED PARTS
Merci. Favourite, flavour, colour, etc. .. 🤘🤓🤘🇨🇦
the music!!!!!!! lol awesome work
Thanks Jim!
Always wondered how those actually worked good video man
Glad you enjoyed
Awesome family
Thank you Dan 😊
really like the design and ability to load low vehicles. I've struggled with that for 30 years. But..... is tongue weight an issue. usually position the car on the trailer to not under or over load the vehicles hitch so it tows safe.
First, when load and unload anything, I used the trailer's jack at the front of the tongue, otherwise pretty much of all of the weight of the trailer and the load will be transfert to the hitch, then once it's lifted up, it's just like a normal trailer, so you need to balance your weight to be just a bit tongue heavy! Do I make sence Bill?
@@VinyB57 Makes sense. Sounds like it would tow very good balanced like that.
jajajajaja! amazing video viny!... congrats.
Thanks Tony!
Dude.. YT suggestions got me here, so I backed up and watched Pt1. Now this one.. You do fab work like the rest of us mortals! (with the exception of the plasma table, mill, etc.. LOL) Subbed and rang the bell.
Great! thanks for the sub and welcome aboard
Looks great! Just an idea, I have found that if you paint the bottom of the trai,er with bed liner it doesn't chip off and rust to death. Minnesota guy just south of you!
Hey thanks Matt! I also found epoxy primer, not super expensive and hard as a coffin nail. I only put tremclad on it...rookie mistake! 🤦♂
Billion dollar idea right here
Funny guy. I like these videos.
Glad you like them!
Lol that's sick. 🤟
Will you be adding provisions to grease the hinge/pivot points?
You do very nice work (for a noob). Realy. Wonder if your camber and toe change much when it is fully loaded and the axles are under stress.
Love your build. But I have never seen a suspension like yours on any commercial trailer. Your is a reaction set up, but normal setups are direct support.
The only possible advantage of your method is the leverage arrangement for more throw of the axle.
Молодец.Красавчик.
Спасибо чувак!
Safety 3rd kinda guy love it 😀
Not at work...but at home...kinda 😅 Cheers Ryan!
You are very talented 😊
hey thanks buddy! 👍
All the highs and of course the lows, we’ll done
Thanks Ad man! 😁 There's always gonna be some lows....😉
Nice design and build. I'm not a big fan of the made-up drama, but your fabrication skills are excellent.
Thank you sire!
Very cool trailer! I been wanting to build one for awhile. I think I will build a tandem axel one though. Maybe you can make a video on making a over head chain hoist or a bigger cherry picker next.🤣 nice work on fabrication though.
Thanks...yeah I didi with what I had...took me only 30 min though, and I still have all my 10 fingers...so far..😅
Subscribed for the great content and also sounds like a Quebecois :p keep up the good work
SHARP ! 🇨🇦
Tout un travaille félicitations
Merci pa! 😁
Amazing as always
Thanks LW!
Brilliant guy mate Like it
Thanks Rattan, glad you liked it! 👍
@@VinyB57 what is the price for the design buddy?
@@rattansingh2275 Have a look on my website: 57design.ca
i would add lock out bars for the swing arms just in case of premature airbag failure
Toutes mes félicitations
Merci Mr Gauthier! 👍
Im curious to see how the plate the air bag sits on holds up. Its not very thick and will be supporting all the weight.
Having a turned up lip on each side would aid rigidity 👍
