just a suggestion for future reference maybe brother. next time you can maybe sand the rims and spray them black to blend with the hub caps.

Also, you should add a UV protectant on the headlights after buffing them out. Either a 2K clear coat or Meguiar's makes one too. It'll help keep it clear for a longer period of time.

Another really easy way to make it look better is scuff the steelies and spray some fresh black paint on them. Use index cards around the rim to keep paint off the tires

Yeah that's what I used to do, helps a lot.
Honestly for around 100 bucks that budget build/detailing job came out good. Some places charge you more than that to do a full detail.
100 was the DIY version covering only supplies lol not labor

Love the video, makes the projects seem a lot less intimidating. Another note, no way it's still roughly $100 with those power tools though XD
Just a suggestion.. sometimes OEM hubcaps looks way better than the ones you can get from autozone or any store, at least those hondas have some nice ones I would have painted them and it was gonna be cheaper then get a new ones.. also paint the steelies so it blends better.

Had a Civic just like that but in White when I was 17
Put tints on it and painted the original hubcaps black and it looked pretty decent IMO
Miss that car never missed a beat and got incredible mpgs
Acetone or WD-40 works just as good for headlights. Apply some baby oil to dull paint for instant shine.

In my opinion the ash wheel cabs would have made it look more prettier.
Factory hubcaps always look better than aftermarket. Would have been better spray paint those

My neighbors think I’m crazy for using a back pack blower to dry my car after washing it.

I appreciate your videos and builds but for $100, i would've gone this route:
-led bulbs for the interior/license plate lights
-led bulbs for the low beams
- sand down and paint the steelies flat black
-keep the oem hubcaps but paint them in a glossy bronze metallic finish.
-ebay roof spoiler for $35 shipped
-smoked LP cover for the front plate

Stock hubcaps look better. Just sand them and spray them the same oem color! The car would look like its worth more just for that

Removing the OEM hubs to put on aftermarket ones hurt me inside. Should have just resprayed the OEM hubs. They're more valuable, look better and definitely wont fall off since they're held on with the lugs. Oof...

Awesome transformation, but. With all the wheels I've seen you paint, why not the steelies?
Personally don't like the look of steelies, makes a car look incomplete and ugly. And for these quick turnarounds its simply not worth it since they're cheap wheels that are covered by caps anyways
@@SmplBuilds I painted mine matte black to make them "disappear" behind covers. Seeing all that rust, ewh. I get your point tho.
I know you guys were working with a budget only extra thing I would have done is paint the steel wheels black cause with the new hubcaps it sort of sticks out like a sore thumb otherwise awesome job love the videos 👍✌️😎

Honestly seeing that interior lowkey makes me miss my old 04 si sedan. If it hadnt had rotted out floors i would have still loved the car.
NEVER buy anything at a brick and mortar parts store. You can save a fortune ordering what you need online.
Great channel. My personal opinion... just sand and spray paint the original hub caps. They look sooo much better than those cheap after market ones.
Quick tip: Get those items from either Walmart and/or Amazon.
Every time I buy a used car I change the oil even if the dealer did it, because I don't know if the dealer used the right oil or cheap oil.
It's not a good idea to remove the original hubcap, and replace it by cheaper one, I hope you will let the originals in the trunk.
Should do the wash after headlight restore... can skip masking
I agree with the other poster. Aftermarket hubcaps are tacky IMO. It screams I want rims, but I can't afford them. If you don't have money for rims, just keep the stock hubcaps and keep them clean. But to each their own. And if you're gonna spend $150 on primarily cleaners, I'd like to see them put more to use. Like the difference in paint color and reduction of haze and such. Kinda like what you did for the headlights but for the body. It looks like you just washed the car, cleaned the headlights, and put some hubcaps. Which is meh. People do paint jobs for less than $50.
Too bad you can't find the KITT from Knight Rider black moon solid hubs from a 90s Firebird. Those might look much better than the fake mag rims discount store caps.
It's a Civic. It's now a washed and vacuumed Civic with polished headlights and tacky plastic hubcaps that replaced the tacky hubcaps.
I'd be able to do this with a $3 can of black spray paint, and the soap and polish I already have.
It was nice to wash your friend's car.
@@STho205 If you look hard enough you can probably find some 15-16 or even 17 inch rims with tires for $150, then just use some dish detergent and wash the car. Throw on a coat of wax, and use some find grit sandpaper to the headlights. Or just use rubbing compound.

however...it is just a Civic. Like a Prius, Sentra or a Fiesta...why worry... it is just an econobubble. Clean, polished and generic is the best it'll ever look.
I appreciate the intiative and what you were trying to do but you should’ve just detailed the car the way it was. In my opinion anyway

You should have used the 20-25% coupon codes they have all the time. You coulda got that dropped closer to $100. I know it's gonna look good at the end, but it's basically showing that you spent $150 on some cleaners and some hubcaps, which to the naked eye doesn't look like a ton of value. For $150 you can get a professional detailer to do it for you.

No. The lugs were holding the caps on
Yes you'll likely break those plastic caps prying them off.
The caps easily snap on over bolted wheels, but they really typically don't want to pop off. If the cap is this old it is pretty brittle. The retaining plastic breaks.
