VERY Versatile Spring and Fall Fly Pattern!

  • This is an absolutely incredible spring and fall pattern that I never leave without! It works as a point fly on a dropper rig, but I mostly use it as a dropper under a dry fly. This one is made to imitate a BWO (Blue-Winged Olive) that can be found emerging almost year-round, particularly when the water temperature rises jut slightly higher on a sunny day. Apart from midges, BWOs are often the first insects you'll see coming off the water in the spring and the last in the fall. The glass bead adds just enough weight to keep it in the surface film as an emerger pattern. If you ever see what might look like rises but don't seem to be breaking the surface, tying on a small emerger to a dry fly and this will almost always do the trick! It's well worth tying a few of these up for your next trip!

      @@jeremylamovsky3669 You’ll have to go there at see all the sizes. Some of the beads are in various sizes depending on the hook size you’re using. You’ll probably never tie that many, but a few years ago they had glass beads in multi color including clear, not sure if the were pearl but my buddies use clear glass also replicates the air sack fine. If you haven’t shopped there, there are literally 30 ir 40 items use can use effectively for fly tying at a fraction of the cost of fly shops. There are RUclips videos of Hobby Lobby fly fishing ventures.

      no problem. can always skip the tail step too and add a clump of 5-6. I forgot to say that. I like to split mine but it shouldn't make much of a difference

    The effect of the flash under the uv resin is so neat! Even as someone who uses uv resin pretty frequently, I love seeing the effects different materials have with it.

    Great price on these. I'm used to paying 1.50-3.50 per fly. These are great flies! And hand tied! Lots to learn still, as I am working on my technique. Thanks Mainly!

      Get a beginner fly tying tool kit to start. Then look up what flies you want to tie and make a list of materials because most of the materials that come in the fly tying kits aren't the greatest and you don't get a lot of it. Hope this helps.

      @@MainelyFlies I learned at a young age those fly tying kits didn't have the great materials or a lot of them unless you bought one of those really expensive kits for over a hundred dollars. Unfortunately I lost 50 grand in fly tying material and inline spinner building materials in a house fire two years ago. And when you have a business you're trying to start that was the last thing I needed to happen.

      @MainelyFlies  3 месяца назад

      Yup I use one as an indicator and add a 6-10” section of the bend and tie this on. It can really work wonders when you see those boiling rises. Use this if it’s BWOs or a midge pattern generally do the trick. Occasionally it might be caddis but not as often. I’ll fish that hatch differently

      There are many species that can be found in just about every water body including rivers, lakes, and ponds. But not necessarily a correction as it dose have a bit of the profile of a stone fly, changing the color and size and it could work as that as well
