Shaun, this video really shows your ability to problem solve and critically think. Irrespective of how much time was spent off camera to make the on camera stuff look smooth and efficient, your solutions and workflow obviously depict a craftsman with experience. Tremendously enjoyable content! Thank you for continuing to put out videos.
Really appreciate that! There is always a lot that happens off camera, but I try to show the essence of what is going on. This build actually went surprisingly smoothly, so it must have come across in the video.
Nice work once again Shaun. If you want to get rid of the flicker that you can see in some of your clips e.g. @7:07 choose a different shutter speed when you record. I had the same problem before I realized that my shutter speed did't match the light in my workshop.
Thanks Erik! Yeah, those shots were early in the morning when the lights were still warming up, so the flicker was all over the place, and I didn't want to wait for everything to warm up and even out haha.
i always enjoy your vids, even when the geometry hurts my wee brain. great work! there are a lot of extremely skilled woodworkers on youtube who make furniture and things i'd never want to own, but being a beginner, i watch them because i want to learn from their knowledge and experience. you are one of the few who demonstrates skill, simplicity, AND good design. it's inspiring, so thanks! i hope you continue to do this work for a long time.
Dang, really appreciate that! Sometimes I question my design ability, so it is nice to hear other people dig it, and your words of encouragement really help to keep the fire lit. Thanks for that, and for following along!
Just seeing this video now but what an incredible job you did on that. Great problem solving. I wouldn’t know where to begin with something like that with all those complicated angles. Great job once again.
Fantastic work as always. Did you really only use glue to connect the feet to the leg? Seems like a lag bolt would have been needed, if not at least a Domino? Not judging, just asking! :)
Thank you! There is actually a small metal plate on the bottom, which I am now realizing I totally forgot to put in the video! So that along with glue makes it plenty strong.
@@shaunboydmadethis Steve Ramsey would have showed you how to use pocket holes for that! But seriously, I can tell I need to practice my drill press face more! That leg came out nice too!
Ah! The metal plate. THAT was what I was looking for. Knew there had to be something on that middle nexus. The flux capacitor can't do everything. Great job. Loved the visual analysis.
I look forward to your videos. this was cool to see you work in this fashion. I would think it helps keep your skillset sharp in a different kind of way. And of course it looks great. What is your process to matching the stain? To me that would seem like the most stressful part.
Yeah, it is always nice to do stuff outside of you comfort zone. I just did quite a few tests on scrap wood for the stain. I tried a few different wood types with a few different stains and finally landed on this one. Thanks for watching!
Domino Face? Drill Press Face? Domino Face? Drill Press Face? the winner is Drill Press Face..... lol.... Thanks Shaun I was hoping to see one of you videos. By the Way your rendition is spot on. Cheers....
Thank you! Really appreciate it! I spent an afternoon figuring everything out and making the prototype, then a couple days actually building the real piece.
Nice work. You didn't need to use the dominos on the vertical upright. Long grain to long grain miters are strong enough. Could have used 3m packaging tape as a hinge for lining up the miter joints. My 2 cents
Thanks Barry! The joints weren't miters, so the tape method wouldn't have really worked here. The dominos were just in there to keep everything aligned and not really for any extra strength.
Really well done, Shaun! P.s. I love the Ireland flag in the background. Somehow, I hadn’t noticed it until now. Either it’s new, or I’m not very observant... likely the latter! ✌🏻
Whats this “imagination” you keep talking about - there’s no table - there never was a table. I watched ALL of the youtubes video and there’s no table - very disappointed - so only 5 stars ⭐️ for you

I hope people appreciate how complicated that build was. Marvelous
Really appreciate that! It was quite a mind bender, but it is fun figuring it all out.
Amazing job you did there, the stain matches the color of the original almost perfectly.
Bet the owner was super happy 👍
Thank you! They came by and saw it yesterday and they were very happy, which is always a nice feeling.
Great job. You should be proud someone recognized your work to commission you to do this. Great video work too. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Really appreciate it! It was pretty cool for someone to have total confidence in my ability, and I am glad I was able to pull it off.
Just seeing this video now but what an incredible job you did on that. Great problem solving. I wouldn’t know where to begin with something like that with all those complicated angles. Great job once again.
Thanks Scott! It was definitely a fun challenge, and I was really happy with how it came out.
Mad Skills! Great step by step on your process! And just don’t forget your bullet proof vest!
Haha, have to watch out for the Libyans.
WOW!!! I am totally hooked !! You are a VERY talented craftsman!! Love getting alerts from your channel thank you for sharing!
Really appreciate that! Thanks so much for following along!
These would be so cool on an 80s cocktail arcade table instead of the usual metal legs! In project list. Great video as always. Thank you.
Totally! I was actually just thinking yesterday about doing a taller version. Thanks for watching!
You're a craftsman mate. Well done. Not an easy job, but you make it look easy. Greetings from down under. Stevo
Really appreciate it! It was a tricky one, but a fun challenge!
Fantastic work as always. Did you really only use glue to connect the feet to the leg? Seems like a lag bolt would have been needed, if not at least a Domino? Not judging, just asking! :)
I was going to ask the same question Dan, you beat me to it. Nice job Shaun.
Hotrod Hog haha shoot, should have thought about pocket holes! Thanks!
Ah! The metal plate. THAT was what I was looking for. Knew there had to be something on that middle nexus. The flux capacitor can't do everything. Great job. Loved the visual analysis.
Haha yes! A pretty pivotal thing to forget to put into the video. Thanks Clyde!
Nice job! The problem with matching older finish is it next to impossible to what time, uv, atmosphere, etc. does to wood and finish.
Definitely! Luckily the client totally understood that when I explained it to them. Thanks John!
Well done Shaun! Looks just like the original.
Thanks, man! It turned out about as good as I could have hoped.
You have incredible patients......beautiful job as usual!
*Patience* A doctor has patients
Beautiful! All those angles at once made my head hurt! Excellent job!
Thank you! It was quite the mind bender.
I'd say that was a pretty incredible effort there Shaun. Well done!
Thanks Matt! It was a fun challenge to take on.
This video seems like a weird flex to show your angle finding skills. Ha. Good gravy. You did a fantastic job matching it. Great video.
Haha! I'll have to add "good at finding angles" to my resume. Thanks!
Working out compound cuts like that usually make my brain hurt 🤯. Then you come along and make it look easy!! Nice work mate
Haha, I definitely experienced some brain pain working it out. Thanks man!
I look forward to your videos. this was cool to see you work in this fashion. I would think it helps keep your skillset sharp in a different kind of way. And of course it looks great. What is your process to matching the stain? To me that would seem like the most stressful part.

Great job! I’m impressed. Ha.
I would have probably proposed making a complete new base to match the original. But you totally rocked it.
Thanks! It was a fun challenge for sure.
it really seems the original one!!
great balance too, mate
Really appreciate it! Thank you!
Duuuuuuude! You nailed it! Looks so good!
Thank you! I was stoked with how it came out.
Amazing work as always :) hope client was pleased!
Thank you! Yes, they were very happy with it, which is always a good feeling.
Domino Face? Drill Press Face? Domino Face? Drill Press Face? the winner is Drill Press Face..... lol.... Thanks Shaun I was hoping to see one of you videos. By the Way your rendition is spot on. Cheers....
Haha, thanks Dan! I think both faces are equally terrible.
@@shaunboydmadethis Nah.....
Nice work, a tad daunting but you did well. Thanks for the video. Cheers, David.
Thank you! It was a bit of a challenge, but I was happy with the outcome.
This was really fun to watch. Great job!
Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Loved your 'trick' at the end haha!
Haha, I think I need more practice!
That really does look like a fantastic match ...very impressive!
...luv the vids, keep ‘em commin’
Thank you! I was really happy with how close I got it.
Absolutely love it, fantastic work.
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
Hey Shaun Boyd, I gave this video a thumbs up because I liked it.
Right on! I would say that is sound logic. Thank you!
BRAVO! You pulled it off.
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
Nice doppelganger! Enjoyed watching that, bet there was a lot of head scratching off camera working out the angles!
Thank you! Yeah, it definitely was a bit of a mind bender, but those are always the most fun when you get them figured out.
Great Scott!
Exactly!
Great work Shaun... pleasure to watch, love your vids, can I ask how long something like this would take?
Thank you! Really appreciate it! I spent an afternoon figuring everything out and making the prototype, then a couple days actually building the real piece.
Unbelievable Shaun. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
All of those angles makes my head hurt. Killer job btw!
Thank you! It definitely gave me a headache for a bit, as well.

Absolutely Incredible and Smart!
Thank you! It was a fun challenge!
Really well done, Shaun! P.s. I love the Ireland flag in the background. Somehow, I hadn’t noticed it until now. Either it’s new, or I’m not very observant... likely the latter! ✌🏻
Thank you! I have had the Ireland flag up for a while now, but it was a later addition than the others.
Love itShaun, awesome work as usual.
Thank you, Paul!
Mind blown! great work
Really appreciate it! Thanks Lance!
Dayum dude. That's some impressive work. Those angles make my brain hurt. lol.
Really appreciate it! This was a tricky one, but a fun challenge.
Awesome job man!
Thank you!
Nice job and nice match.
Thank you!
I could never recreate something like that lol. keep up the great work
Haha, it was definitely a challenge! Thanks Collin!
great work as always!!!
Thank you!
Wicked mate well done 😎
Thanks Mark! Really appreciate it!
I am pretty sure that you used your domino face at the drill press as well. Seems to work fine though...
Haha, sometimes I get them mixed up. But you're right, I think they are interchangeable.
Hooray problem solving! I felt like this was a microcosm of woodworking - "I have these tools and need to cut these angles. What's the best approach?"
Haha thanks man! That is usually the thought process I go through.
Nice work!
Thank you!
You didn't use domino in the 3 base?
No, but there is a metal plate on the underside that I forgot to film to give it more strength.
Keep on the good work !!!
Thank you!
Great work!
Thank you!
Well done!
Thank you!
Beautiful Brother.
Thank you, really appreciate it!
👌 Fabrication skills 💯
Appreciate it! This was a fun one to figure out!
Nice Job!

Really appreciate it, Joe! Thanks for watching!
WOW. Spot on Dude. Noice job
Really appreciate it! Thanks!
Outstanding
Thank you!
What species of wood is it made of? It’s beautiful!
Thanks! Not sure what the original is, but I used Sapele with a bit of stain to get it as close as possible.
Shaun Boyd well done sir. Well done!
You are good! Some serious "artsy, fartsy" stuff.
Haha, thank you! I don't mind being a little artsy, fartsy.
This video was heavy Doc.
Hopefully there isn't a problem with the earth's gravitational pull.
Nice work, but I was disappointed that we didn't get to see the whole table.
I feel ya, I never got to see the table with the legs attached either. Thanks for watching!
Nice
Thank you!
Wow!
Thanks!
🤙
🙌👍
Well-done that did not look easy
Thank you! It definitely took some thinking!
Очень круто!
Спасибо!
Wow! amazing job. Very fartzy.
Haha, as long as there is some artsy in there, I'm cool with it. Thanks Ivan!

Glad you didn’t sit on this one... nice shirt 😜
Yeah, that would have been bad. And thanks for making get those made!
First Marty McFly then Daniel LaRusso? The nostalgia is almost unbearable!
Haha, both impressions were equally terrible.
