Lol! I belly laughed when reading your comment! Epic!
#nasaneededasap
Hahahahha
bless you
😭😭😂😂
her articulation is clearer than my future
d'oth...!!!
Nyew instead of new. Does she sing it that way to sound more like a cat?
nutella sttttoooooooppppp
@@MisterMagikarp That's how non-american people pronounce it
@@professionallifehater9927 true, however it seems she does accentuate it!
She looks like a cheetah. She’s got one of the most unique faces I’ve ever seen, and DAMN, what a voice. STUNNING rendition.
Joya Johnson it’s her nose shape and eyes!! 🐆
I think she was also making the face she makes when she performs this as Grizz
She’s very gorgeous voice and face 😍
Saw her live performance recently in Atlanta and it's the best I've ever heard including the Broadway cast from 2017.
She sounds a bit like Céline Dion
She needs to be studied. The way she moved her mouth. Her placement is impeccable
Its Mags agreed
Doing this for grade 7, so I 100% am studying it you'll be happy to know :)
Hannah M omg good luck! Will love to hear it when you’ve got it done !! ((:
@@marge973 thank you haha
If I post it on my channel when I finish learning the song I'll let you know :)
Hannah M definitely let me know and best of luck to you!! ☺️
Me: "well, there's no way it can compare to Elaine Paige..."
I was then found five minutes later, found slain and wigless in a ditch somewhere.
If your cell phone is working maybe we can find you in time!

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard at a comment before. That last part got me
ME
My exact feelings
A belter with healthy vibrato? Be still my beating heart!😍
haha "vibrator"...
Vibrato...??
Mekela Tyler I hope you mean vibrato
Bahaha!!! Totally didn’t notice.🤣🤣
Can you tell me the difference between belting and vibrato?
i was nOt prepared for the power of her lower register, goddamn.
Jillian Kilburn it is a true gift to be able to do that!
Nicole Jarel as an alto, i always appreciate those little moments in other singers where they nail lower notes
Jillian Kilburn Yeah, I wish there were more awesome roles for us! Holding the tempo and being harmony isn’t... bad, but it can be a bit boring. Love stuff like this!! Let that power shine!
Amara Jordan yeah it sucks that there aren’t many leads for alto’s in musical theatre
I thought the same thing, caught me off guard when her tone changed so much
Kudos to her accompanist. He keeps pace with her perfectly. That is supremely hard to do when working with a vocalist.
When I was studying voice I was trained to follow the accompanist on the piano. However I noticed that their timing was not together on this song. It really bothered me because she has an unbelievably beautiful voice. So I'm not sure who's supposed to follow who or if they're supposed to work together.
@@joytotheworld2100 I can tell you how I approach this. I listen to my vocalist sing the song to his/her preferred accompaniment first- (whether it's a recorded accompaniment or live) and how they pace the song, where their breaths are and their phrasing. I set my accompaniment to their cues. So I think the accompanist should listen and follow the vocalist's lead. An example? Listen to the piano accompanist to Elisabeth Kulman for her performance of Erlking here on RUclips. He follows her beautifully.
T Clark thank you. I often question my music ability and am happy you commented. Thank you.
@ Weber is tremendously musical- his works demand great agility of voice and phrasing. By those two devices he conveys rich emotion and depth. Many have scoffed Weber's work, only to return to humbly give thanks to his genius. Say what you will, yours is merely opinion. Before you pass from this earth, you will have your epiphany of all things music, and indeed, of Weber.
I am studying vocal music ed and I’ve learned that the term “accompanist” is actually very disrespectful and outdated. It implies that the pianist is inferior to the soloist, when in reality the pianist works just as hard to produce music with the soloist. I’ve learned that the correct term for the pianist is “collaborator” or “collaborative pianist”. Yes it can be argued that it’s the pianist’s job to “follow” the singer, but to counterpoint, the singer also follows the pianist. For example, the pianist can actually lead the singer to sing softer or louder by the way they play. Singers often feel unsupported if the pianist’s playing is weak in tone, so the singer heavily relies on the pianist just as much as the pianist relies on the vocalist. There is a lot of compromise when it comes to any performance that involves more than one person and it is very much a “collaboration”. (:
She actually resembles a cat... is it just me? 😍😂
Was just thinking the same thing.
You're not alone.
I'm with you

I saw her live. Her "touch me" literally deafened me in the most Holy, heavenly, wig-snatching way that I forgot how to breathe.
Edit: Holy mother of....never had this many likes. Thank you.
I get chills every single time and I've listened to it like 10 million times now.
@@kenzielater1378 Imagine it in person. I actually for the first time EVER thought that much power would break the mic. And I've been to a TON of Broadway shows. Like. I literally can't even explain it. It was so loud and powerful it HURT but....I thanked her for harming my ears so good.
She also hit "touch me" a millisecond after laying on the ground and getting up. I was like YOU ARE NOT HUMAN.
BRUHHH I saw her live too and I was in TEARS when she hit the high note it SENT ME
@@carinamartinez6175 I SAW GOD MY FUCK
This is, dare I say, the best rendition of this song I’ve listened to...
The best I've ever heard is Heather Hedley but this is bloody good too
Mireille Matthieu Nos Souvenirs
I bought tickets because I saw this promo. She was even better live!
To me. Betty Buckley I believe it was at true tony awards was insane. That’s my choice. This is a CLOSE 2nd
kosmoboi Betty Buckley was incredible at the Tony’s. Laser accuracy on that “touch me!”
I want to hear her do this with a full orchestra behind her.
It was MAGIC saw her twice here in Toronto with the tour and was blown away
same
I saw her in Nashville, incredible! Favorite part in the whole musical, other than Rum Tug Tugger and Mr. Mistoffoles
@@devynblades799 I also saw her in Nashville! I was totally blown away!
@@devynblades799 I saw her in Baltimore! People actually starting clapping at the "...leave me...." part.
Ready and prepared to see her Elphaba someday soon
Here for this!!!
omG yes
Oh my God, enough with Wiked everybody, the show is shit, it's a badly written, irresponsibly written popsicle, that everyone without a brain thinks is great because there's a high note buried among the colour by numbers mediocre blandness. Enough already.
@@mfimh0901 whaaaat?? How come its been selling out shows every day for 16 years then??!
mfimh0901 you are shit. Not Wicked
My first college essay was about how cats is a severely overrated musical and this one rendition unwound all of my arguments
I want to read this essay
I wanna read this essay too
No offense- but I actually consider it to be underrated
Your essay is probably more or less correct by today’s standards-maybe not “severely overrated.”... And I love Phantom, but Webber’s work isn’t exactly groundbreaking. Pretty though.
I think it is very under rated. Cats is my favorite musical. ANd yet it has become popular to hate.
The way she phrases "all alone with THE MEMory" 3:16 literally just cured my scoliosis.
same, my back is now straighter than i ever will be
Yes! That part takes my breath away
Might i ask why lol? Like why specifically your scoliosis?
No back brace needed, just vibes & this rendition of Memory
Also, the downright desperation the second time she sings “touch me”
Like, yo this is honestly perfection
In a theatre when she sang it it literally fills the whole theatre and you can't breathe. It's insane
Imagine ... being able to belt like this ... and not choke.
I remember when there was that pause right before "look, a new day..." The theatre was dead silent. And once she finished, the whole theatre shook from the roars and applause. I'm so honored to have seen her perform this live!
Wow, lucky!
Unfortunately the audience I was with decided to LOSE THEIR MIND right when she's hitting the high E at the climax and so much of the moment was missed. Respect the work and wait for the song to end. Lose your mind then please!
I burst out in tears at this performance live.
wow, goosebumps
Oh that "e" placement is HEAVEN
bamboozle berry sounds like Celine Dione!
RIGHT!!!! Just so snug❤️❤️
I liked it on remember too
holy actual fuck. I do not like this song. It’s always been a bit boring to me. But she made me like it. GOD her vibrato is so insane but controlled and she’s got it so beautifully and healthy in her belts. I’m in love.
I *REALLY* wish there was a downloadable version of this

If you follow her on instagram, she posted about her friend making an MP3 version!
Not only her impeccable articulation, but her facial expressions are on point. Like crazy for the camera but on stage? Her eyes just really sell it. I hope we see more of her, she’s fabulous!
Agreed, she is a fabulous example of what good articulation and clear enunciation can do for a performance!
Michael Arden is usually my go-to reference for that, but I'm glad to be able to add Keri to that list
Can someone pick up my jaw for me?
That Guy I got you 🤚🏻
I'll pick it up. Hold on. I need to find mine first
The Freckled Princess hahahahaha
I’ll pick up your jaw after you experience what seeing her live is like.
AntiGrxvity Watched Cats for the first time with her in the cast and my mind was fucking BLOWN.
I like how she sings as though she’s currently in the play. It’s a character performance, not just a pretty song.
CATS is ome of my least favorite shows, but this is incredible. I hope i can see this for her and Emma Hearn
I dislike CATS but this song and performance is great
I’m not a big fan. I like two or three songs. But I love memory. Not many big alto moments out there, so I have a soft spot for it. Sadly, when I saw the tour live, we had the understudy, and she did not quite have her bearings on this, so the biggest part of the show, the climax, was.... pretty wobbly. And I’m not going to go see it again. It’s a pity. I’d enjoy a tenth viewing Phantom or Lion King more than a second of Cats. 😂
I have watched this 15 times today I cannot get over how amazing she is. 3:14 "all alone" I am like crying inside she's amazing
Same. I keep coming back to watch it!
I just saw her performance last night, and she was phenomenal. I got the chills all over my body.
Same! She is just a PITCH PERFECT Grizabella.
God I am so sick of hearing this song. Thanks for making me rediscover. The way you belt that lover register and then effortlessly go into head tones is amazing. The clarity in your tone when you belt out touch me is mind blowing; the best I have ever heard. Big new fan.
I have to say, this is probably my favorite out of all the other people who have played that character
Totally agree 100%!!!
SAME
i come here often
me too, it’s sublime
I hate"Cats" but 3:26 legit broke my heart
Justin Selig mine too😭😭 I gasped
3:06 onwards holy moly
She understands the lyrics perfectly
it’s 2 years later and i’m still not over this performance. she SLAYED!!!
so technically amazing, but also hitting every emotional point. WOW
she resembles a young ginger version of cate blanchett
same, that's what i thought also
Oh yeaaahh
Crossed w/Jessica Chastain
You can see she has completely broken down this song and figured out how to pronounce and sing each individual beat and it is so beautiful. The work behind performing shines through her captivating, emotional voice and stage presence. Her face enchants me so I cannot look away!!!
I was thoroughly unprepared for 3:06 and even though I’ve listened about 294 times I’m still unable to breathe
she is gorgeous and her tone is sublime. And she is so Pitch perfect it's unreal
She is the clear example of how important it is to study. There are actors who need to hide behind costumes and makeup, she is Grizabella in all her splendor. Her voice, her interpretation, her presence is everything.
You can see the emotion in her face, hear it in her voice, and feel it on your skin from the chills her performance gives. SImply excellent!!
She looks like a cat actually and her voice so perfect!
Her incredible scoop at 3:42.. " a new day..." is AMAZING!
the broadwaycom jingle popping up at the end always kills the mood lol
Hahahaha
The clarity in the note in that last alone belt hurts me to hear so much emotion. I've played it over and over
i watch this at least twice a week just to clear my skin and reset my nervous system
Sometimes i watch this just to feel something
There are very small moments of this gorgeous performance that give me the impression she listened to Celine Dion growing up.
YES! The way she cuts that last s in happiness
“happinesS”
And she says "new" exactly like Celine
Thought the song was tired at this point but she is phenomenal. She breathed new life into the song with impeccable phrasing and emotion. Excellent job! 💞
Saw her live in Boston this evening. She was absolute perfection. An absolute legend. The audience was stunned silent, and then the applause, and cheering was deafening.
Her tone is so beautiful 😭
“If you touch me you’ll understand what happiness is” for some reason that hits me so hard. Basically sums up what its like to adopt a cat
This is probably the best I've seen of this song
3:06-3:20 I cannot stress the level of difficulty this ENTIRE segment is. Even technically speaking, the level of crispness with her words while planning out her volume in accordance with the drastic tone changes in the song is masterful, and it's something that can only be gained through years of training.
Singers HATE "eeeeees". It's a thing. She sailed through her eeeeees while making it look eeeeeeeasy.
But *most importantly* it SOUNDS beautiful at the same. Keri René Fuller is a gift.
I saw her and I was so amazing I cried
TREVOR’S Transformations I got to see her twice, cried uncontrollably both times. So amazing
Her "All alooooone" Is my favorite part.
So lucky I got see her perform! The entire theatre burst into screams and applause when she belt out “touch me”
OMG. I have no words.
Keri is by FAR the best Grizabella I've ever heard I'm SO HAPPY
The stunning jump up at 3:05 while looking up to the sky is ruining my day. Sometimes specific things really make you realize that you're a talentless potato.
damn god really be out here having favourites
the “touch me” caught me off guard... damn what a voice
god i wish this was on spotify
every year i come back here to cry, this girl has lungs for the gods.
Amen. Waterworks....Her low and Mid-Regi are so strong and distinct...❤
3:06 in case you were looking for the most iconic part
This is the best vocal performance i've heard in a while
(edit: EVER)
The climax of this song literally made me shiver
Hey vowel placement on “alone” in the climax is impeccable.
Memory, turn your face to the moonlight
Let your memory lead you
Open up, enter in
If you find there the meaning of what happiness is
Then a new life will begin
Memory, All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember a time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
a street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning...
Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day
Will begin
(instrumental break)
Sunlight through
The trees in summer
Endless mascarading
Like a flower
As the dawn is breaking
The memory is fading
Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day
Has begun
You better believe I watch this every month.
I always get a chill through my body at that belter line, “Touch me!”
The chills. I love how she so articulated. Her voice. It’s filled with sadness. And I agree with another commenter, she does have the structure of a cheetah
She’s beautiful. What a great choice
Saw her in Detroit today. I WAS SHOOK. I've heard dozens of renditions but I WAS NOT PREPARED for her.
THIS IS MY FAVE VERSION OF THE SONG 'MEMORY!'
Damn! As I clicked on this I thought "who is this wannabe?" Believer and fan now. More soulful than Sarah and more powerful than Elaine. Wow indeed. 🥰
I’ve watched this so many times now it’s starting to get unhealthy
I never have watched Cats. I actually never knew anything about it until this year. Come to find out, I’ve been listening to the melody of this song for years as a child because it was the lullaby the music box would play at my aunt’s house. I would twist it until I couldn’t and set it down and listen. This song is my childhood and she just made it 1000x times better.
If she doesnt become a huge star I'm going to go so insane
We've all heard this song a hundred times. But I think this is the most stunning rendition I've ever heard.
that climax is absolutely INSANE
Seeing it live is a whole different experience, she made me cry fat tears.
This is amazing. Anyone saying she is acting over the top is so wrong she gives all of the emotions and chills this song is supposed to have. Whenever you perform you do it as if you were in the show at that moment she is spectacular
Its actually criminal that this isn't available on spotify.
the absolute POWER in her lower register is fucking insane I love her
I would calp until I can no longer feel my hands for this woman. WHAT A VOICE, WHAT A PERFORMANCE, SUCH PROFESSIONALISM. I'm listening to this goddess on repeat. Non-stop. QUEEN
Here I go again
I saw her in Six. She is fabulous bravo!
ive heard this song multiple times and i’ve always gotten chills but she made me cry. i could understand the lyrics, both the pronunciation and the meaning behind them. she was amazing in this!
No one:
Theatre kids in youtube sections of any good popular singer:
“I cOuLd sEe tHem pLaYiNg eLpHaBa” or “wOuLd mAkE a gReAt eVan hAnsEn”
It's because Elphaba is maybe the most vocally challenging female role, so when someone's an amazing singer you want to see them tackle it. I'd love to see her as Elphaba, I think she'd be incredible.
That vocal control. The power in every note. Wow just wow
i will never stop watching this
Is it just me or does she actually look like a cat?!😂
Betty Buckley was the power
Elaine Paige was the emotion
Keri René was balanced with both.
All three of these ladies were purrfect (lol) Grizabellas
I DMED HER AND ASKED HER TO BUY GIRLSCOUT COOKES LIKE AS A JOKE AND SHE BOUGHT SOME WE STAN KERI FULLER
i love that
I need more cookies, btw ❤️
I think most of us can agree that the modulation on the word “memory” at 3:18 is one of the best notes in all of Broadway...
But the way she lands that note with that timbre literally scalped me. 🤤
My mom has tickets upcoming and was debating on going after seeing the movie, but I told her she needs to go STAT!
I was actually more impressed by the power behind her low notes at 1:27 and 2:50 then the big finish... Also, that first bridge from 1:46 to 1:55 was just absolutely stunning. It feels like someone pouring ice water down my back when she gets to those big notes for the first time!
Edit: I think I'm in love...
Wow, the best I've heard
I was absolutely enthralled from beginning to end. This performance was a master class in how one should connect with a piece of music and give it their all. Everything about this performance was divine. What a phenomenal talent.
She holds so much power
This production was so much fun to see, I can’t even begin to describe the impact the song had live to everyone in the theatre.
Got to see her in Chicago. Magnificant
Magnificent indeed.
her pronunciation, her range, the emotion, her FACIALS! this was so beautiful. i cant imagine the power she holds in full costume on stage. she’s simply breathtaking!
Omg i have watched this 50 billion times
