I always wondered why they didn't make then just *run* in all the racing games

I'm pretty sure Sonic, Robotnik, and Shadow are the only fast ones.
Tails can fly, sure, but the rest wouldn't be able to run at the same speed.

Honestly, the thing *I doubt* is that a Sonic racing game could even work aside from a one-player campaign where you play as Sonic.
@@curtisleblanc5897 My point was that sonic games often play with expressed canon when it comes to delivering a fun and fast experience. We know for sure that there’s no way in _hell_ tails or knuckles could even come close to Sonic’s speed in universe, but they did it in Heroes for the sake of the gameplay. Sonic is not a series that should have its game mechanics be heavily weighed down by plot or canon, especially when that previous mentioned canon can get real fucky with it’s own previously established rules.

I totally agree with you. Sonic R deserved to be a good racing game. I BET if Sega wanted to, they could easily make another R with Sonic's 3D stages, with most modern Sonic Characters (EXCEPT SONIC BOOM, WE CAN FORGET ABOUT THAT)
Sticks should pull a Silver and integrate herself into the main cast in spite of a non-connected origin.

Mecha Knuckles and Tails Doll is the original Pink Gold Peach prove me wrong
The difference is that Metal Knuckles is cool and isn't just "Knuckles but chrome"
and Tails Doll isn't simply a metal copy of Tails, its a unholy abomination that can actualy turn into a cthulhu like monster according to the comics.

Sonic R on PC (the older port) was always a special memory for me. Being Eggman in a game, and for the first time, was all I ever wanted #eggmanforsmash
"Sonic in car 3" makes me sad. It's like their argument is "nobody is as fast as sonic so let's even the odds!" and I couldn't care less. Sonic R 2 would be loads of fun.
It made sense with the SEGA All Stars games. Since not all of SEGA's big characters are speedsters. But yeah, Sonic, and any characters as fast as him, should be running on foot in this game.

Unless you make a balance, which either makes all characters as fast as others for no reason without any logic or just make actual rules in an actual racing game that isn' t broken.

The identity of it really changed with Sonic Adventure and people think that Sonic Adventure's music was a match for the previous games' music and Sonic R's music wasn't.

The music in Sonic R is actually pretty good in my opinion.
That's partially because it was a last minute addition. The developers had to change the first track from a dusk setting to a daytime one to fit the "Can You Feel the Sunshine" song.
Relax,love the video man but the wall joke was a little forced as in "Don't force it".
I feel like, even though it's not exactly the same, Sonic Riders is a good evolution of the ideas R brought to the table, while also being not absolute garbage in the process.
You can play as all the iconic characters like Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Eggman and, of course, the classic: SCR-GP.
Though not exactly the same abilities present in the main-games, you have characters (or vehicles in the sequel) of different types, that allow you to take shortcuts or alternative routes based on these types. The tracks in both Sonic Riders games, yep, all two of them, are visually interesting and offer a lot of different paths that each come with their own pros and cons.
And Zero Gravity even has a pretty high skill-ceiling in form of your mastery over the games "Zero Gravity"-gimmick.
So yeah, while I agree with you, that the concept of Sonic R showed a lot of promise, I'd argue that both of the Riders games fulfilled said promise to an overall satisfying extend.

Actually Relax, there were two other kart games that Sonic had (Sonic Drift 1 and 2) so it would actually be Sonic in Car 5

The problem with Sonic R that it doesn't teach you how to play, it just throws you into the race without any practice.
When you actually get used to controls then it actually becomes a lot of fun to play.

You should try the better SADX mod for Sonic Adventure’s PC port. They fix the graphics, add the games they left on the GameCube, and even add a playable Super Sonic in regular levels.
The youtube channel "GameHut" is ran by one of the ex-devs from Traveller's Tales, and he has a lot of inside info about the development of the game and neat videos showing unfinished aspects about the game, plus commentary about it generally. Totally recommend checking out the channel if you wanna learn more about this underappreciated game!

In my opinion the game, controls, and style is great and fun. I just think it was the stupid comparisons to completely different games like Super Mario Kart 64, you known a party racing game that has almost nothing to do with platforming and has to do with full luck, or Super Mario 64, a plat former that has almost barely nothing to do with racing except for Koopa the loser turd, that ruined the game for some people. Or I'm just a coping loser who think that my opinion matters.

I would really like a racing game that's similar to Sonic R in its core conceit. Sonic R had a lot of problems, sure, by why the heck have none of the Sonic racing games since then had Sonic running? He doesn't need to drive a car, he doesn't need a hoverboard...he doesn't need something ELSE to MAKE him fast. Being fast is his whole thing!
While we're at it, put him in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, on foot, but controlling exactly like a kart.

I don't know why but this is probably my favorite sonic racing game. And I don't know why? Yah it's short but everything makes sense like what you are collecting. And it has some of the best music out of any sonic game or game in general for me. I love how there are different weather setting that actually change the gameplay. The controlles are fine not horrible not amazing except for turning, turning is bad not as bad as bubsy 3d but it's up there

I feel SA2B action race multiplayer had some elements of Sonic R. If the character abilities were balanced, controls were tighter, and with the same care in explorative and expanded level design, it would make for a solid title.
