Would you be able to check for Apple Watch series 4 for HRV, heart rate and compare it to the recent Apple Watch series and other brands to see where it stands in terms of accuracy.
Great review!! What about the Apple watch SE? Do you think the accuracy of the heart rate monitor in it is as good as the AW series 6? It will be nice to have your thoughts on the AW SE too
I am wondering.. since Polar H10 is constantly broadcasting the current heart rate over Bluetooth, ANT and Gymlink, how did you make sure Apple Watch is not just reading and using THOSE readings instead of its own? Maybe it does consider an external sensor like Polar H10 to be more accurate and switches to using it when available?
@@aldarund yes, but I think muse S lacks of numbers and percentages and you cannot see the exact time (minus and seconds) of your sleep stages and positions.
It would be so great if you could compare Series 6 with SE to verify if they measure heart rate with the same quality. No one makes accurate reviews like you!

After I discovered your channel, I am not making that important purchase until you have reviewed the brand and model lol. I am waiting for a watch with reliable ECG function but am not an iPhone user, so hoping to find a decent alternative.
@@silviui. I hope so too! But I am relying on Rob for the info lol. Sad to say, at this point the Apple watch ECG looks to be top. Darn it I don't particularly want to get an old iPhone to sync as who knows when Apple will decide to axe support.
Hi Rob, could you make a comparison with the withings scanwatch? Also I would love to see un update on the scanwatch and how it is behaving nowadays. Thanks :)
Loving this channel Interesting that Apple can do HR tracking so well but still lags in the sleep analysis realm. If you had to chose one sleep app to use on the Apple Watch, which would it be?
All the sleep apps are garbage I’ve tried them all, even the expensive ones. The native app is terrible too. Why they can’t do better with sleep is beyond me. I want the scan watch- it looks nicer. Better battery life. For now I’m sticking with a Fitbit
Apple watch lacks temperature measurements like the Fitbit Charge has. I've read that temperature combined with measurements such as HR and movement is key to differentiate between cycles.
wish i was an iphone user. but alas android is my true love. will you be doing a full review on the fitbit Sense & all the new features' accuracy soon? going to buy or not depending on what you say.
Love your videos! Could you do one on the calorie accuracy of Apple Watch? I know that no wearable will be 100% accurate but I recently bought an Apple Watch 6 and the resting calories are insanely high! I’ve used every BMR and RMR calculation I could find to try to explain it but it just doesn’t make sense.
It would be really interesting to see how well it compares to other devices when it comes to running. During spinning you don't move your arms that much but that is something that you do when running and my understanding is that one of the tricky things to measure the heartrate when running is the way the movement of your arms impact the blood flow.
@@martinsivins2175 Yea at least not to us :) but I agree if they get HRV that must get some readings but maybe don't show real on time? I found some from oura in my apple health at 4-5 min intervals.

Thank you for very interesting testing. 12:00 this is what I'm looking forward to, swimming. It would also be interesting if you tested the AW with short sprint intervals. Also a competitor for the Android world, perhaps something from Samsung, like the Galaxy Watch 3, or similar? Finally, the Polar OH1+, for swimming, might be better as it's worn at the temple. Come to think of it, I guess it could be worn at the temple when weight lifting, too.
Mindblowing that Apple still seems to be the only one to get it right. Can you compare it to a Garmin flagship? I suppose the Apple Watch would still beat that, it's that close to a chest strap.
Perhaps one issue with your oh1 is where you are placing it! I believe it's recommended to have the sensor on the inside of your bicep not the outside. Your video shows you wearing it on the outside.
I really like the way you deliver this video but I cannot get my Series 6 Apple Watch HRM to read even close to my Nielsen Kellerman rowing Speed Coach which uses a chest strap transmitter and which I feel is very accurate. Do you have any suggestions? I noticed that other RUclips vids seem to agree that the Apple Watch is pretty useless for accurate HRM.
For us, the biggest advantage of Apple watches is, that the support the iPhone app „Health Auto Export“, which allows to export sensor data fro instanc to InfuxDB in Home Assistant. Great video, I like the comparison with other devices. The small side note on the Garmin Venu makes me wish that you did follow up videos on devices previously tested that got a major update to fix or improve their metrics, though. For instance the Scanwatch HR tracker had an issue where it measured only half of the heart rate, and since the video about it was before the official release of the watch, there were probably updates that fixed it, and if we are interested in buying it your analysis might not be entirely relevant anymore.
