What is likely true is that fish do not experience pain in the same way we do (we don't really have evidence that mammals do experience pain in the same way we do, nor that you experience it in the same way I do, but it is certainly the case that fish sensation is likely very alien to us). There is still some debate in the scientific literature over whether fish feel pain, but the weight of evidence right now is towards the conclusion that fish do indeed experience conscious pain. Being that I am no vegetarian and only try to limit my intake of meats due to climate change / environmental concerns - I'm not trying to discuss the morality of hunting or eating fish (though catch and release [beyond releasing of juveniles] has never really sat well with me)

Yes it does tap into our primal need to hunt, but it done in a controlled, non-destructive way. When you compare this to the destruction other industries cause its tiny. Take the p*rn industry, it taps into our primal need to have sex and reproduce, but the destruction it causes in the minds of young men and even the damage it causes, in terms of ability to pair bond in the women participating is highly destructive.

I don't think that's the case, fish are caught repeatedly some of which are well documented and photographed and in every case are seen to grow, remain healthy and live for a considerable time. Doesn't seem like they are the symptoms of great suffering

I found the dragon Deborah quite offensive, shes an hypocrite. The reason the waterways are the healthiest they've ever been is due to the financial input of anglers, she's clearly a confused animal lover.

I don't think that's the case, fish are caught repeatedly some of which are well documented and photographed and in every case are seen to grow, remain healthy and live for a considerable time.

Tony Mushin absolutely agree with you, unfortunately that is down to the equipment used by carp anglers and is in my opinion avoidable.
What I’m saying is angling in general is not like some sort of fish torturing exercise.
