  • This is a demo flight of our production Old School Model Works Quickie 500 kit. This one is built stock and came in at 3 pounds, 8-3/8 ounces, ready to fly.
    Powering this model is an older O.S. 40P 2-stroke glow engine, with it's original strap-on muffler.

    Wingspan: 51 inches
    Wing Area: 510 square inches
    Length (airframe only): 37.25 inches
    Weight: 3.5 - 4.25 pounds
    Radio: 4 channel system
    Power: .25-.46 glow engine, or equivalent electric power system

    Last one I bought paid like $60 kit with Styrofoam balsa covered wing.......fox 40......90 to 100 any day...got it in storage

    I'm very interested in buying and building one of these looks like a fun one!! How does this plane handle windy conditions?

      Assuming you're not talking hurricane force winds, you'll have no problem at all with wind. Low side profile will keep it from blowing across the runway in crosswinds and the low front profile keep it from loosing too much speed into the wind.

      Yes glow power handles the wind much better than the foam electric stuff!

    Would an O.S. 55AX be too much for it?

      Well, it wasn't made for that large of a displacement in racing. But for sport flying you could probably get away with it. You might need a little more work on getting the C.G. right as that motor will weight a little more. Also, I would suggest wrapping the wing's center section with a layer of fiberglass cloth and export to strenghten it for the higher g-loads it could experience.
