From the use I have from my camera, the GoPro are not fitted for my need, they're to big and not enough wind-friendly (camera on motorcycle helmet). I tested one and have to admid that they have a really great video and sound quality, battery life, awesome for sport use ! GoPro are the best, but not for the use I have :D
Turn off the remote after charging, and I disconnect my BacPacs when I'm not using them. Make sure camera is powered off too, but I'm sure you already do that
I use a the USB cable that came with the camera and then use a wall plug that is for USB that is my way of charging it! Your computer might be going to sleep mode or something and so it doesn't charge the battery at all.... that's my guess but I don't have a bacpac
