  • In this video I give a behind the scenes look at how I go about my street photography while out on a photo walk. This was my first time visiting Manchester and while I only scratched the surface I came away with a handful of shots I'm really happy with.

    I've never been to Manchester, but watching this video of you walking the streets and doing street photography showed a few structures and buildings that are very similar to Berlin's streets. I live in Berlin. The shots under the rail bridges are so like a similar structure in Yorck Strasse Berlin. Those lovely boxed in oblongs of sunlight between each bridge make an easy frame that can work well with the brickwork. Cheers for the great video, and good commentary. Sean

    I feel like when the scene is right but the shots are wrong (such as the tree area).. for me it really helps to step back and approach it as a cityscape instead. Let the setting itself be the subject instead of finding the composition within it. A lot of the time, when seen from a distance, it becomes part of a larger story. Just my two cents.

    Another gem Tim. I'm a stranger to Manchester but now seeing the colourful urban architecture of late 18/19th century at the beginning of your street walk i think id really enjoy a visit. I tried tracing the area you were in. Northern quarter of the city?

    • @timjamiesonphotos
      @timjamiesonphotos  Год назад +1

      Thank you, Harry! Yeah we went all over the centre of the city, which is very compact, but mainly focussed on the northern parts :)

    I think i could read your street photo styles with using reflection framing, colour contrast. Since I'm using smartphone and main lense is equivalent to 26mm, some of your tele shot cannot be applied to mine unless i risk the deterioration of picture quality

    • @timjamiesonphotos

      I often use a wide angle lens and still make photos that are abstract, use reflections and colour contrast :)

    Hi Tim, just curious to know did you have to ask permission from those people you took photos of or is it ok to take pictures and use then because you are out in public place. It'll help me to know while I'm taking pictures. Thanks

      Hey, no in the UK it’s perfectly legal to take photos of people in public without their permission, that’s the whole point of street photography!

    • @timjamiesonphotos
      @timjamiesonphotos  Год назад +1

      I don’t mind you asking at all! Probably spent about 5 minutes on that one. I try to keep it as short and minimal as possible, I spend the most amount of time tweaking colours :)

    Some good advice here, especially about shooting in different light. I noticed that all your photos seem to be at eye level and most had subjects walking away from you. They would be much better when facing forwards.
