Likewise as a broke person who hasn't lived anywhere near any live performances or side projects like this, I so greatly appreciate the fact they make so much of what they do accessible.
Be warned: You will be watching this show again. Because you're going to be showing it to your friends. You're going to be showing it to your Star Wars-loving enemies. You're probably just going to watch it again on your own. This was absolutely fantastic. It's hard to say what I liked the best. In no particular order: Jar Jar as he was meant to be played - absolute perfection. Matt Gourley's Trade Federation performance - I am giggling while I recall it while typing. Well done. Vic Michaelis' interpretation of the Jedi bond between master and padewan. Ani. All Ani. Ani and Padme's accurate age awkwardness. Darth Maul. All Maul. And these were just the HIGHLIGHTS in an excellent overall show. Everyone was great and brought their own special touch to their roles. (I forgot - THE EXCELLENT EXTENDING DRAMATIC PAUSE GUY!) It's just too much greatness for one viewing. You were warned.
I loved the way this production took performers with all levels of experience with and appreciation of Star Wars and just made the source material a space where they could all support and play with it equally and without condescension or judgement. Something that can be sorely missing in all sorts of fan communities. Thank you GLTS and Star Wars Minute for doing the good work you do.
It would border line impossible without access to the original audio mix although I hear great things about AI being able to separate vocals from music and sound effects
This is fantastic. Daffy Duck as Jar Jar! “I See Dead People” as “Yippee!” Vic Michaelis as Ewan McGregor! Bearded Buster Bluth as Qui-Gon! Brilliant work all around.
Everyone is so dang good in this, its absurd. Some absolutely inspired choices. Thanks to Dynasty for doing a great job filming. This was a hoot and half live and I was cackling again watching this. Yippee!!
this is amazing. i opened disney plus in the next tab and had the film on silent - it matches up pretty well!!! great work everyone, fantastic performances that vastly improve the source material lol
My eyes are still burning like I've been crying all morning rather than laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. I watch about 20 minutes or so on my own and then wanted to show my wife a couple of minutes so she could hear Gourley's Southern Nemoidian accent, and we ended up watching the whole damn thing! :)
This is the best version of Ep 1 I have ever and will ever see. Daffy Jar-Jar and Darth Mal-Moynihan were amazing. Actually, everyone was fantastic. RLM should review this.
THANKS from Germany. Effing hilarious. Paul F Tompkins would be killer on these live readings. Matt Gourley is a hoot. THOUGH he never made it to a UCB Harold team afaik. I'm so proud of our boy Patrick Cotnoir that he did not fall asleep for 29 hours like he did on the 30 hours watchalong in 2020. Go Patrick ! Yipeeee. Yipeeeee. The whole city's a planet !
What's amazing is there's so many things in the script that make certain things in the movie make more sense. Like the script answers the question as to why they couldn't just use the money from the pod to pay for Shmi's freedom. we find out the reason Qui-Gon and Anakin are running is because they encountered the probe droid. Or even a small one like the "Now this is podracing line" is actually supposed to be a response to an earlier conversation with R2 who is telling him to be more careful and Anakin admits that yeah, this isn't podracing. So when he flies out of the ship and yells "Now this is podracing" he's saying it to R2, following up on the earlier conversation.
This was awesome. I wasn't familiar with Vic but she was so funny , leaning into Obi-wan's lame witticisms. Please bring her bag for ep 2 , Hello there!
this reminds me of the time at Emerald City Comic Con where a bunch of voice actors read the script for Episode IV and the narrator gave out characters to read each part of the script.
This makes me wonder if Haley Joel Osmand was up for Anakin when Episode 1 was originally made as him and Jake Lloyd are around the same age. And if he was, how disappointed was he didn’t get it and then did that disappointment turn into relief after the film came out?
Daffy Duck Jar Jar is incredible.

I'm so dang grateful for the Cotnoir/Dynasty Typewriter partnership doing fun stuff and sharing it folks like me (chronically tired country bumpkins)

"Gourley cannot be topped. Daffy cannot be topped. Vic cannot be topped. Bobby cannot be topped." and so on for every single one here
Clones is this evening!
looks like them Trade Federation boys are at it again
Tony Hale playing up "QuiGon's" inability to pronounce planet names and Corin getting progressively more gangsta are just the icing on the cake.
Starring Matt Gourley as every accent imaginable
I came into this basically blind - I legitimately spit coffee when he laid into the Southern Bird Lawyer Nemoidian

Redubbing The Phantom Menace with these voices but keeping the score and sound effects intact will be a tricky task but someone’s gonna do it.
