Had a new driver dumping a load of dirt forget to swing the locks away from the door and secure them in the hook, so when he dumped his load the locks swung back between the door and body and bent them all to hell when the door swung back in. He managed to get an excavator on site to bend the hooks back, but felt bad enough to tell me about it later that day. I looked at it and told him “if something breaks and you manage to fix it without me noticing it was broken, then it wasn’t broken to begin with”. He’s been valuable to my small company ever since.
I was so proud to have bought a new Moritz dump trailer when they were just starting to become popular around me in 2000. First load to the landfill with it and I pulled forward, a door caught on a 1/2 buried mattress and ripped it clean off. 😮😢 Experience is what you get AFTER you need it. It happens to all of us. Looking forward to seeing the truck in action!
I can see myself probably doing the same thing, I did learn from this video something to look out for when using a brand new dump truck. I'll probably forget, and one day drive a brand new dump truck and do this same thing and remember back to this video in the moment lol. Thank you for sharing the video! Most people would not have posted a simple mistake like this.
Literally smashed up the door latch on my new dump trailer before I ever used it, just moving it around at 11pm in the dark and rain. Then bent the tailgate by dragging it along the ground on a steep transition trying to spread gravel on its first job! Both things were easily fixed, welded up a new handle, and bent the tailgate back with the excavator. I guess you just have to BREAK things in right away sometimes.
I drive a dump truck 14 years now. Please do me a favor bro and don't set the cruise control on and set the box to lift(bad things can happen). Sit in the drivers seat with your hand on the hoist lever just in case. Wicked truck tho I got the same one just it's a 2021 same cx15 (ya baby!!)
Just from my experience you don’t want to use the cruise control to dump its not Recommended. And once the bodies up you immediately want to put the lever in the neutral position don’t let it stay in the “up”position too long when it’s all the way up. But just my 2 cents
@@VTOutdoorServices Yupp so am I still everyday part of living. I’ve done the same thing but with chains on the back of the tailgate and forgot to take them off. Had to cut the chains to open the gate. Haven’t done it since lol
You could probably have the cruise set with a computer. I have a freightliner with vacuum pump. My pto is set to run at 1000 rpm on low setting and 1200 rpm on higher setting. with the cruise control My mechanic hooked up a computer and set it for me.
I’ll say it…Big Dummy! Just kidding, at least you already broke something…kinda like when you see the first scratch and your like WTF…and you get over it!
You know, it would be really easy to talk shit about you right about now, but you were man enough to upload the video despite a potentially very expensive mistake.. Good job on getting it figured out. I assume that wont happen again.. lol
My Grandpap always said " The only person that never made a mistake never did anything".
Bad things happen to everyone, it's how you handle it that defines your character

You're not alone brother... I left that barn door pin in more than once!!! Lol
So many things wrong here...Back to "Dump Truck 101" with you!! Lol
Totally my vibe. I would do that for sure. But after, I make a mental checklist so I never do it again.
Vermont outdoor services you are not the only who makes mistakes I Broke the truck I drive 2 weeks ago by doing something I shouldn't have done

Yes, I’m learning. Thank you
Dude, slow down on the RPMs...you'll blow a hyro line.
You’re definitely right. I wasn’t prepared for cruise to rev it so high. This was the first time I’d ever dumped with it

Thank you for the tips. I’m always learning

Just curious what suspension does that truck have? I have a t880 with Hendrickson primaax and rarely ever dump the bags dumping with no issue
Same as you. I guess I was just always taught to drop bags when dumping on uneven ground
I notice it’s just a tandem, how much can you carry like that in Vermont?
14 yards or 18 ton
Looks like you enjoyed greasing that pin a little to much
#loneliness

I’ll look into it. Definitely rev’d higher than any other truck I’ve experienced
Beautiful truck! Where's the front part of the chrome grill?
There’s a recall on them for cracking so they shipped it without it for now
😂 grease it!!!!
