Hey y'all, this week has gotten me super hyped so I just had to put something together for the anniversary! This entire video was made in like 4 days so apologies if it seems lower quality than the last one, it was made more for fun than anything else. This was a blast to make but the only reason I was able to meet the insane deadline is my friend Grace basically co-producing this with me. They made the thumbnail, some of the renders used in the video, and helped me write out the points I wanted to make, so please go follow them on Twitter at x.com/ErrantOrph61153 and show some support on their art, I would not have been able to get a video out this week on my own. Thanks for staying subbed during the inactivity, if I have any good ideas soon I'll try to upload again in the next 5 months this time, haha.
I dont know how or why but the name ambience and your mii just randomly popped up in my mind I remember you from the Mario 64 days, happy to see all your success! You’re a cool dude hope you have a great day 👍
This video is a prime example of why I subbed to you in the first place. The wilder the fandom, the more important that fans that have Nuance are. I was absolutely LIVID when PeePaw Afton first appeared but now that we have more information, like you said in the video, it makes sense. I've been participating in Fandoms for over 15 years and I've had my complaints about each piece of Media BUT the only times that I've ever gotten hostile is when someone stooped to personal attacks. Every person is different so every fan is different and usually, the loudest complainers need a few years to grow up or are adults who are too far gone (Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons...) who just want to complain so they're not worth engaging with. And nostalgia definitely is a factor because the world 9 years ago wasn't nearly as chaotic as it is now and lots of fans joined the FNAF fandom during prime Core Memory years so I get where they're coming from, even though I disagree with them on many things. Anyway, yeah. The next time I hear someone being a Doomer about FNAF, I'll be sure to direct them to this video. Happy 10 year anniversary! 🥳
As someone who’s been a fan since 2014, I will admit FNAF has had its ups and downs. Despite all of it, I’ve loved FNAF, and been a fan regardless. We’ve had the Week of FNAF, and even though it’s pretty much over, it’s still been fun while it lasted. Sometimes I think FNAF was better off ending with UCN, but at the same time, I’m glad it’s still going. While Five Laps at Freddy’s wasn’t the greatest on release, it still has potential, it just needs to be fixed up. We got releases from the fanverse, we got a teaser for a FNAF game most likely taking place in the past, being the first FNAF prequel we’ve had in A LONG time, updates on the second FNAF movie, merchandise promoting the 10th anniversary, a free ebook titled: VIP, a FNAF racing game, and we got a second interview with Scott and Dawko. While the classic FNAF is amazing, modern FNAF is just as good. We get new styles of gameplay, while also telling a new story that revolves around the past, while also bringing in new characters with fresh ideas that help clarify the old FNAF. We get a new villain, and despite it being a copy/mimic of William, it’s not THE William, which is ok for me. Security Breach, despite having its bugs and issues, I did enjoy playing it, but at the same time, I understand why people didn’t like it. It’s a 7/10 for me personally. Overall, FNAF as a whole is an 8/10. It’s not perfect, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
I feel Security Breach would of been much better received if we had gotten Scott's original story and plan for it. I feel if the story was better handled and the game had more time in the oven, we would all enjoy it much more. (By the way, I think a part that added to the hatred to security breach was the awful performance and bugs, it just rubbed salt in the wound)
My introduction to this franchise was originally Sister Location, and I don’t know if I’d be as invested in this franchise if I didn’t start out with it, everything about the lore of that game just really hooked me in. So yeah it’s been really sad seeing most people suddenly crapping on it and the rest of the modern games, which I love. They are all good in their own right, in my opinion.
I first got hooked with SL too. Glad to see I’m not the only one. Honestly, I feel like because I loved Sister Location so much, I found Modern FNAF a lot more palatable than most people. The Sci-Fi Aesthetic, Focus on Fleshing out Character/Story, and overall commitment to Creativity over anything else really gripped me in both eras.
@@Poseidon4862. Yes absolutely, although I feel like if I started out with the classics instead of SL, I still really would have loved Sister Location. The way that game handled its story and characters were just a lot more interesting to me. Even when I watched all the classics afterwards, I distinctly remember thinking that Purple Guy/Afton seemed to be more boring in those games until SL expanded him. I can definitely understand the counter arguments now, but idk, I feel like the hate was a case of the future games not being taken for what they are, and rather were judged on what people wanted.
This has to be my favourite fnaf analysis so far and that’s saying a lot. You managed to put into words exactly how I’ve felt for a long time! I love old fnaf, but I also love new fnaf :) I’m excited to see where the story will go next and I’m excited to learn about things from the series past we’ve never heard of before! I’ve always loved how chaotic this franchise has been. My favourite fnaf games are literally fnaf world and fury’s rage because they’re just so fun and goofy to play! I love the main games too, I just suck at most of them haha, except for into the pit which I actually managed to complete. I didn’t complete the ENTIRE thing but I did get a few of the endings and I repaired all the arcade machines and had a whole lot of fun doing so :D I’m looking forward to secret of the mimic and the next movie!
Security Breach ruined peoples perception of modern FNAF, and while Ruin certainly is much better, it shifted the style of games in a way that most people including me were quite concerned about. But incredible games are still coming out, and we have to remember that it’s not like Security Breach is all that is being made now. FNAF has always had incredibly stand out titles like Pizzeria Simulator and FNAF World. FNAF will always make unique stuff without ending the original style.
I think the biggest issue with the franchise is that Scott seems... Irresponsible, is how I'd put it but that wording is a bit harsh and I'm not sure how much of this he has control over. Because he didn't give Steel Wool a straight answer regarding the plot and Steel Wool didn't communicate that they didn't know what story he was trying to tell, Security Breach didn't get the story he wanted and he somehow didn't know the entire plot was being misinterpreted and restructured until it was too late. The Funko plushies are ugly. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. It seems he needed to step up and have a more involved role in the franchise. He knows what story he wants to tell, and from what I can tell, it's a good story with interesting themes and a fascinating combination of supernatural and scifi. But he has issues with actually presenting the story. There seems to be a distinct difference between the story we're getting and the story that exists in his mind. All that being said, based on the Into The Pit game, it seems he's learned from past mistakes and is becoming a better writer and storyteller. I'm eager to see where this franchise goes in future entries.
I hear a lot of talk about FNAF now being for kids… and it is. Like it or not, Five Nights at Freddy’s has a large majority of the fanbase who are children. This series has always had child fans. So expecting that over-the-top tone you’d see in FNAF VHS is just silly to me. What I like about FNAF is that, on its surface, it’s a series of games that is off-putting and weird at worst and scary at best. But it’s non-reliance on blood and gore makes it something that all ages can get into. But, if you look below the surface and read between the lines, Five Nights at Freddy’s is REALLY dark. The set-in-stone story elements and the implications of the finer details all paint a very disturbing image. Kind of like Fazbear Entertainment, huh? Kid friendly on the surface, dark inside.
I like modern FNaF. Yes, i do like Security Breach, too, and i will defend it there where it *can* be defended. But i don't like the direction the Story is heading. I like Mimic. I just don't like the controversies it's taking with it. We don't need Mimic being Glitchtrap, nor do we need him being Burntrap. In fact, what we do need is more originality, which would Mimic bring if Scott Cawthon and Steelwoolstudios would make Glitchtrap/Burntrap a separate entity from Mimic. It's something Fazbear Frights suffered from. Suddenly, Eleanoir was like everyone at some point. It's more interesting to have the Pizzaplex being a place with more than just one major threat. Mimic was down there in the Pizzaplex for a long time, and appearantly, he has existed in the Gametimeline since 1979, whereas when Glitchtrap is Afton, we'd have William back who wants more Remnant and thus needs someone who does the dirty work for him. And this person would be Vanessa/Vanny. I'm not sure if FNaF would be able to get rid of Afton for once and for all. The Story changed and shifted so much that FNaF without William is difficlut to achieve. Mimic's existence is a Good way to flesh out the Gametimeline without the need of William Afton. But it's not a good way to achieve a more fleshed out Timeline by suddenly connecting everything to one character. Sure TFTPP were planned since 2019, but why did Scott intend Burntrap to be a random character who's more like a hallucination? Why would he do this when it was planned for Mimic to be the big bad? Why should Burntrap be Mimic, when it was planned that all he should do was standing there? If Mimic is Glitchtrap and Burntrap then Scott definetly had to do a retcon after Burntrap got a Bossfight from Steelwoolstudios. Yet even after all of this, why would they plan to hint to both Mimic and Aftons existence? Why are there in ruin Graffities that say "They are still here" and "Forever and Ever" when Afton should be dead? I'm not into Stitchlinegames, but an important piece of information we get from FF, is how UCN should work. A Spirit of a Child keeping William Afton alive and making him unable to die while torturing him. Heck, if Scott wanted just Burntrap to be William and Glitchtrap would be Mimic, i'd be okay with it, if it weren't for Glitchtrap saying "I always come back let me out" in PQ in the Mobile port of HW.
If Glitchtrap isn’t the mimic, we need an explanation of how William Afton got a “get out of jail free” card from UCN to get sucked into a floppy disk and put in a VR game.
“Why are there in Ruin Graffities that say "They are still here" and "Forever and Ever" when Afton should be dead?” Lmaoooo this is just blatant misinterpretation. Forever and Ever is a reference to Freddy and Friends, the old Freddy’s TV show that was introduced in Security Breach. And “they are still here” is referring to the Glamrocks, and how they’ve been abandoned here. It has nothing to do with Afton at all and saying it does is ignoring all the evidence that afton is dead.
Welcome back ambience nice to see you here again This video was kinda eye opening in some aspects , i never really realized how different every fnaf game is before even the "Modern fnaf era" i was into the "Security breach is not a fnaf game at all" train when it first came out (Granted the game was riddled with bugs obviously so that put a bad taste in my and others mouth) But your perspective helped me understand secuty breach more The lore part tho i always agreed with a view like yours, fnaf lore will never be 100% solved and always has some plot twists or new charecters added in the mix per game cause thats just how fnaf story has always been so interesting for better and worse , if people hate "Modern fnaf " story then they hate fnaf story as whole lol but off course Clearly modern fnaf isnt written by scott (Even tho it is ,yes i seen people say that lol) so its perfectly okay to trash on it ,i am not saying fnafs story hasnt had big flaws or questionable decisions that are worthy of critisim but a lot of new fans need to understand how fnafs story has always worked ,maybe because i never have been a die hard theorist in fnafs lore my opinion is invalid but whatever AND YES as you said the themes and tone of fnaf play a big role , even if i am not the biggest fan on fnafs story in some aspects, the humor ,atmosphere will always be engaging to me even if it sometimes lacks some aspects (Lack of a lot of horror in security breach for examble thankfully ruin fixed that) But yeah even after saying all that, i am on the "modern fnaf" doesnt hit the same sometimes boat, but there is nothing wrong with that its not like steel wood came down scotts neck and forced him to rush the clickteam era games ,no instead we got a perfect conclusion to that era and arguebly the best gameplay experience in fnaf which is ultimate custom night, even if you hate the modern fnaf era i still dont see why people act like it has ruined fnafs entire legacy ,fnafs legacy will never die ,due to the scary moments, the memes etc etc etc But yeah thanks for this video again ,it was an eye opener that i needed for a while
I’m glad someone is finally talking about the whole Glitchtrap/Mimic situation, Glitchtrap is NOT William Afton, Glitchtrap IS the Mimic, it’s a huge plot twist that everyone assumed was retconned, Burntrap is William Aftons dead corpse that the Mimic used in the Burntrap ending, but when Ruin came out, we figured out that the Burntrap ENDING is not Canon but it’s actually the Princess Quest ending that was Canon. However, that doesn’t mean Burntrap entirely isn’t Canon, I think it’s just showing that the Mimic never used Burntrap/Aftons dead body. The Mimic is a Robot that wants to imitate all of the past actions that Afton did, that is why he is called, “The Mimic” he Mimics people’s voices and actions. In the Princess quest ending and the other HW2 ending where you see big Vanny, in those endings you see Glitchtrap basically the AI version of the mimic gets defeated by the looks of it, and the remains of Mimic is the physical Robot that we see down in the sinkhole in Ruin that Cassie frees. I might of got a few things wrong but that is how I see The Mimic/Glitchtrap/Burntrap, plus William Afton is forever trapped in his eternal Purgatory because of the Vengeful Spirit, so there’s that
In my opinion, the storytelling is the Achilles Heel of modern FNaF. There's far too much vagueness, the villain is underwhelming and the reliance on books to tell the games' story is becoming more and more apparent. Yes, all that was present in The Clickteam games, but that didn't matter as much then because we were playing as a silent protagonist confined to a single space, unable to move. The games were much smaller and simpler back then. But now, we're in free-roam. We have fully fleshed out characters with unique personalities, dialogue exchanges, big environments to move around in and yet all of the interesting story and plot is either told in books of unclear and deliberately kept vague continuity or taking place off-screen. The games feel like glimpses into the true story and, aside from HW1, every Steel Wool game onwards has had this consistent problem (even Ruin). Furthermore, The Mimic is underwhelming, poorly communicated, doesn't have an interesting personality and isn't given any actual solid goals or motivations (which I really hope that the upcoming game will fix) and overall feels like he's really trying to be Bendy 2.0 but failing. He also moves too far away from the supernatural aspect of the franchise, with his agony being a mere mention. Yes, FNaF has always had advanced technology but there's a difference between facial recognition and reality-warping AR masks. Finally, the Steel Wool entries (at least to me) feel really disconnected from each other. We keep jumping from concept to concept really quickly (Glitchtrap, Vanny, Tangle, Burntrap, AR World, Mimic, Cassie's dad) without any room for individual exploration. But that's just my opinion.
The fact it's not supernatural based actively contributes to theme of moving forward and legacy. The reason it isn't as based in the supernatural and more based in reality is because if it was supernatural that would contradict the point of it moving forward because all was said in done in FFPS. Also the whole we rely on the books too much is applied across the clickteam games as well with the novel trilogy, as said in the video, but also we're judging an unfinished story so I think it's completely unfair to say we get all storytelling frm the books, especially when we're literally getting an entire game about the mimic next year. Maybe this point would be valid if Clickteam games had introduced Henry and all the lore stuff from the novels when the novels released but it didn't, and we GOT those lore bits in FFPS, which I think is exactly how this set of games is going to go too.
@@georgearch8917Did you not read the whole comment you’re replying too? He acknowledged that we also relied on the books before, but it’s become a bigger problem now because the scale of the modern games isn’t the same as it was back then, these are now open free-roam games, not small point and click games.
THANK YOU for making this. I agree with every point in the storytelling segment (though I've yet to watch the rest, as it is 3am for me.) People really do need to learn the difference between plot twist and retcon, because the latter has been thrown around too much in places it shouldn't be. People were so mad that Afton returned, but then threw a fit when it wasn't Afton, even going as far as to say the books aren't canon, even though the opposite has been said since the announcement of Fazbear Frights. Truly, the lore is alive and well. I've been keeping up this whole time and nothing is really unsatisfactory. It's an incomplete story, that spans multiple types of media. That's what FNaF is now, and it's not a bad thing.
What originally introduced me to this franchise was "The Joy Of Creation" which funnily enough was a fan game not created by Scott Cawthon. I was not sure if the game would appeal to me but after playing it, i was completely hooked. The graphics were awesome and the storyline was captivating. After this, I played every single FNAF game from the original FNAF 1 to the newly released Into the Pit (minus some lacking games such as security breach as you have mentioned.) This has been one rollercoaster of a journey. Thanks Scott Cawthon.
Weclome back, Ambience. I'm honored to say that I'm gonna replay the first game from the beginning just for the hell of it being 10 years since the game released. Also, I'm so hyped for "Into The Pit." My friend (who introduced me to the game and convinced me to try it out, thx so much) and I have seen the trailers and the animatronics look insane, I'm sure that they're the FNAF 2 unwithered animatronics and I've always wanted to see what they looked like before they got trashed out. And I'm also sure that Fredbear and Springbonnie are gonna be huge threats in this game. I've watched you for q long time but, now I'd like to take a moment and pop the champagne and celebreate with you and everyone here. To 10 years of iconic memes, to 10 years of max modes conquered, to 10 years of millions of fans around the world (depsite that I only been playing since February or March of 2023), to 10 years of FNAF kings, to Shooter for discovering new strategies and breaking boundaries, to TheBones5 who beat FNAF 1's 20/20/20/20 mode in a literal 6 hour time, to you, Ambience for your guides, and for helping many people, including myself, conquer tough challenges, to 10 years of a game that brought so many people together incluiding all of us, and finally, to a man who not only made these games, but also made a community full of FNAF gamers like us. And that is Scott Cawthon himself. Cheers, everybody. Let's look forward to the next 10 years of FNAF and beyond. Thank you. 🥂
Also, if you ever consider doing another Q&A, I do have one question: How do you think FNAF 2 can be improved design wise AND gameplay wise? (I think gameplay wise, they should give Toy Chica a blackout that always starts instantly when you put the mask on. Simply because of the unused artwork of her that implies that.)
Wow. You made this in 4 days??? Its REALLY polished, well done!! I knew you could make a good video essay Scott, but DAMN. This might be the best FNaF video essay I've ever seen, despite my own dislike for ''modern FNaF''. You perfectly articulated nuanced concepts and arguments with precision and clarity, touching on all the important topics, and basically making a top notch point threaded through several smaller arguments...all with a good amount of self-awareness too! Speaking of self-awareness, if I'm being totally honest I think I needed to hear this. I'd like to think that I haven't succumbed to defending these nonsensical arguments that you demolished so effortlessly, but over the years my confusion and frustration with the franchise has probably built up some of the biases you spoke of so excellently throughout this video. Things have changed over the years - my initial reaction to Security Breach was one of horror and frustration, but after a year I essentially stopped caring about the whole thing - when relentless controversy plagues the franchise and the creator starts ghosting his fanbase and ignoring structural issues with his creation, ''the lore'' really does become trivial in comparison...Cawthon's new interview gives me a little hope, but its too little too late. I didn't even play Ruin so this Mimic storyline is new to me, and I'm stunned to learn about Burntrap from what Cawthon said in the interview! Why did we have to wait two and a half years to find this basic information now!? How does an entire secret ending - built up as the canon route - get made like that, when it conflicts with the creator's original intentions??? Why the hell didn't he communicate better with Steel Wool, or the fandom, at the time?!?!? I would be furious if I still cared much, but if FNaF is moving on, so am I. I was kind of expecting this video to praise the anniversary content and hype it up without consideration for the transient nature of this event - I'm fully expecting that FNaF won't maintain consistent activity after this explosion of content - but thankfully it was so much more thoughtful than that. As much as I have enjoyed everything from this week, I'm excited that there is more to look forward to than endless Security Breach tie-ins ':) Regardless of all this though, even if things happened differently...its been a decade. I'm grown up now. Like many before me and many more after, I think I'm going to find it personally relieving and more joyful to take a distanced, seasonal-visit relationship with this franchise rather than the constant-retreading that became habit throughout my teens, and was difficult to shake off when it stopped being fun. A lot has changed since 2014, and although the magic of those early years will never be recaptured, FNaF can be good in different ways. It has to be, it would stagnate otherwise! Personally I would consider the last five or six years the ''awkward teenage growing pains'' of the franchise, but if people enjoy Security Breach or whatever that's fine, I'm happy to let them get on with it without me being a negative presence. Maybe I'll check out future Steel Wool releases, but at the moment I'm pleasantly surprised with Five Laps at Freddy's, intrigued about the possibilities with the Dead By Daylight collab, and absolutely thrilled to see progress with The Joy of Creation and other Fanverse games! FNaF feels alive again, so I really hope Cawthon gets his shit together and makes a new official website/news source so we don't have to follow Kane Carter on Twitter anymore... FNaF always comes back - and so will I, just not as often. Replaying games less often, following updates less frequently, uploading video essays like this less consistently - for better or worse, it makes it so much more special when its a rarity and not everyday! Anyways, thanks for peak, you cooked 🔥🗣💯❗
You're one of the people who I was most curious to hear the opinion of on this video, so I'm glad you liked it! I agree with all of these either fully or partially, but I do have a few things to say. The Cawthon interview was incredibly refreshing to see personally, just because he gave clear, direct answers on the future of the franchise and took full accountability for how incredibly bad he messed up during SB's development. That's huge IMO, considering he's notorious for not communicating well lately. Finally getting answers about exactly what happened with SB gave me some closure, and I hope if he does a third interview a few years down the line it's pretty similar to this one. Too little too late sure, but this is big progress. The controversy can be exhausting, but I'm personally glad we have a community that is willing to speak up about problems and hold even the creator accountable for things, especially since Cawthon makes so many mistakes. Growing up has obviously taught me some things are more important than my favorite game franchise, and I'm willing to listen to people's concerns now without dismissing them as "drama" unless they're obviously trivial. The LadyFiszi/PinkyPills oustings for example were very much not "drama," those things NEEDED to happen. It's not perfect, but Cawthon has already made an official news source and it's been so much easier to keep up with news during this event because of it. There's an official FNaF account on Twitter that announces things now. I'd prefer a website, but it's so much better than the Reddit posts we were getting. Thanks for your perspective :D
"The books aren't entirely needed for the story" There was an entire arc of William and Eleanor teaming up for him to become a giant ass robot to destroy a city, and also mention that the kid torturing him wasn't Cassidy but some rando from the books.
Honestly if it werent for covid spreading the entire steel wool crew up, Security Breache COULD have been incredible. Maybe they'll remake it in the future, who knows.
I mean, ruin DLC was supposed to be them making up for security breach being badly received. It kinda worked but also caused even more controversy but I’d say it’s better than the base game. I don’t see them remaking security breach. Covid sucked.
There's definitely some genuine complaints about modern FNaF but I feel like the majority of them that I hear are just "Security Breach bad therefore everything else is too" which really annoys me. I think I know why that's the case though. In Clickteam era FNaF, the games were released really quickly, FNaF 1-4 iirc were all released within a year of each other. When something sucked, it didn't suck for long before something else got announced and teased that got people excited. Contrast this with Security Breach, I enjoy it but yeah it's objectively not a great game, did we move on from it really quickly? No, instead we got a book series about it, and then the next main game (HW2) was a game focused on looking back on it. Instead of waiting a few weeks to get teaser showing we'll move on, we've waited years. Security Breach came out 3 years ago and we're only now getting major releases built up that seem to be moving on from it. I think THAT is the issue. Previously, people were able to let their dislike for a game move on rather quickly, whereas with Security Breach that dislike lingered through an echo chamber for years where people's dislike for it only grew.
maybe! busy times right now but I'm super excited to play everything from this week I didn't have time for, not sure if content would be made on it but it's definitely possible
A lot of people complain about security breach not being scary but honestly that kinda a big reason I’m into the franchise, I’m a huge wuss with horror and security breach seaming not it scary was a great entry point for me to ease myself in and now that is to it I’m really into a bunch of other horror stuff thanks to it The lore being complicated is also another reason I love the franchise, it’s an ongoing mystery that can always change, yes it can get frustrating but the main reason I love this franchise is watching theories and seeing people solve it
FNaF has always been great gateway horror honestly. I played FNaF 1 in 2014 when I was 10 and it scared the hell out of me, but it also made me a horror fan for life lol. Security Breach is an easier way to ease into the franchise and the genre in general for people who spook easily, and I'm glad it serves that purpose.
@@AmbienceOfficial also thanks for replying, ur Fnaf 1 guides are like the only reason I was able to what the game and now ur guides are gonna be a big reason I’m about to beat FNAF 2
I think I just never really got over the original Security Breach release whiplash. That game genuinely hurt when it released, cause I felt it had just butchered something I love even tho I had been so excited for it. I'm still not super on board with modern FNAF, especially in the Steel Wool department (mostly because I just think most of the games aren't that good as games, not necessarily because they're fnaf), but I think I've gotten over my blind hatred towards it, and there are some aspects that I'm actually interested in now. Also Into The Pit was awesome and felt very nostalgic, so that's definitely gonna help a lot.
I like the concept of the mimic, I don't like how they put him on the past, I really hope the mimic didn't interfere in the fnaf 1 - UCN because I don't like how "I was always there but I never got mentioned" (Yes I know that's a bit hypocritical)
I feel like a lot are feeling a bit of fnaf fatigue. Guess you could say they are all fazed out; faztique if you will (ok, I'll stop). There's a lot of fnaf right now; like a lot, a lot. Now that's not ineretly bad but I can see why people would get tired. For example, you talked about the silver eyes trilogy and how that affects sister location; those were three non canonical books; compared to 20 (with more on the way) books with lore sprinkles which may or maynot mean anything since we don't know if they are canon, and also feature that don't fit with the games. (Long, kind of unrelated, rant ahead; go to the next paragraph if you don't care) I don't know much about Tales so I won't say much on that, but when it comes to Frights; I feel like people's need to connect them to the main game's lore, really dampens them. I get that they are far from perfect but I think people would enjoy them for what they are; and their story/ies; if they didn't feel the need to know if the stitchraight having 2 souls, also means Golden freddy has 2 souls; or asking if Andrew is actually the vengeful spirit instead of Cassidy (I can't entirely blame them, but still). I do however wanna rebutle your take on Mimic/Burntrap. It's less of the fact that Mimic was revealed to have been burntrap but how it was handled and in general how fnaf has handled it's villains in these recent entries: (even if a part of it is security breach's messy development and my personal missunderstandings of the story) At the end of the day all our villains are some form of the mimic; (Glitchtrap Is the program, Vanny is someone possesed by It, and the ruined mimic/burntrap is the original endoskeleton) that's their main villain; however as I said they can't seem to pick a version they wanna stick to; especially with Vanny being semingly dumped after her 1st apperance (even if there are plans to bring her back in some way); certanly not helped due to our lack of information, since we had no information at the time of their reveal, that the only logical conclusion was that Glitch/Burntrap were afton again; instead of a new antagonist. Despite my opinions; I think it's kinda shocking how many people are so against the mimic; and would have rather Afton came back; despite them being so against that when SB came out. This was a longer comment than I expected it to be; but if you read it: First of all thank you; Second, let me know your thoughts about what I said. Have a good day; and happy 10th anniversary, fnaf.
The entire point of there being a PQ 4 and Glitchtrap being alive is that Mimic always had a backup. PQ4 is likely not even a real arcade machine, if we assume that we're INSIDE of the AR system (Our hands stay blue inside and outside of the Vanni Mask), then that means PQ4 is inside of the AR system too. It's meant to show us directly killing Glitchtrap and destroying his connection to Vanessa from the inside. They weren't dead only to return it was just continuing on something we didn't really get to see in SB which was actually destroying Glitchtrap. We seemingly free'd Vanessa in SB, never destroyed the Glitchtrap branch of mimic's code.
I have to agree with the end part especially Personally for me, im always a gameplay comes first type of person regardless of the genre unless i really like the narrative experience (Ruin), which is why i don't like games such as Sister Location and (hot take) Help Wanted 1 which become really boring and unengaging experiences especially on a replay, but even though i personally consider them bad because of their bad gameplay, others will still like it for other reasons But i liked Helped Wanted 2 and Security Breach is an enjoyable disaster, and i like the direction the narrative is going now with the Mimic, so yeah, id say modern fnaf is good and i think Secret of the Mimic will continue that and maybe be the ultimate game for Steel Wool
Sure does. I didn't know FNAF existed until middle school. In 2014 I was heading into 4th grade but knowing the title of the game in middle school in 2018, I wasn't a horror fan at all at the time and didn't wanna try, but then my friend suggested it to me in 2023 and I loved the first games concept. Now I have the first 3 games, and I'm considering getting Sister Location and maybe FFPS too, but I'm proud of myself to have discovered a game that has a story behind it and it makes it even more interesting once you learn the truth about Springtrap and the Puppet or any animatronic that's important in the story. That's what I like about it: it is that you play the games and they're pretty simple to play and once you play a mini game, you can see that's there's more of a story behind it. It's amazing.
As flawed as Security Breach is, I’ll always be a defender of its base-gameplay, I love everything about it, I think the stealth is actually well implemented, I enjoy the almost-metroidvania esque level design. Sure the game has “fetch quests” but each fetch quests brings you to a different area with new objectives, it really isn’t as bad as people say.
To be fair, I think that it is fair that FNAF is kind of stuck in the past, considering that The Mimic, a representation of grief of a man, needed to be imitating William in order to make an impact, or having Michael room in Security Breach, or having the MCI graves in Help Wanted 2, I think that this elements aren't quite necessary in order to convey the modern story, Why the Mimic needed to copy Afton in order to be a competent villain?, Why do we need to see for the dozen time the MCI kids?, Why specifically the games before were treated as in universe games, but at the same time happen, but not quite, but is confusing (?) I think that the story could have done a lot better if we had clean up the story from its beginning, which means we shouldn't have to be solving mysteries of the other story, but mysteries of this story, the new Mimic game seems to be a good step in the right direction, take what you need of before to tell this tale, but dont muddy the waters with nysteries that aren't really relevant for this new story .-. This realization happened to me with the re-discussion of the name of the Crying Child and if Golden Freddy has two or one kid, I don't really think is healthy for the new story to constantly questioning the story we are supposed to have ended 4 games ago, quite the contrary, I firmly believe that in order to completely move with this new tale is by explaining the old one and not gave it to obscurity, I think as a community we deserve that Now the new story that Steel Whool has been cooking, I think that is very competent and has the potential to be the lore with the best characters and lore, so I wish we continue to work unto that new tale of this new era Now, I gotta admit, I begin writing this comment without expecting to go so deep with it, but here I am, please don't send hate to no one, this video is awesome and I fully agree with his conclusion, but I gotta be allowed to criticize my favorite franchise once a year right? 😅
I do hope The Mimic imitating Afton was only an introductory thing to pull off a plot twist and we get to see it be more of its own villain from now on and take other forms. Secret of the Mimic seems to be going in that direction and I'm really glad to see it. I agree with you about Mike's room in SB lol I still have no idea what that was about and hope we get an answer to it eventually, but it may not even have an answer considering what we know now about SB's development. I don't mind the callbacks to older characters though, especially since I believe the HW2 protagonist is the Bonnie Bully, they make enough sense to me if worked in properly. The indie games thing was confusing at first but I think the Help Wanted story from Tales cleared it up very well actually, it's certainly in character for Fazbear Entertainment. Story ain't perfect, that's for sure lol, but I'm glad the more recent games have been making a lot more of an effort.
Mimic makes itself Afton once which was direct setup for the Mimic reveal in Ruin. The MCI in HW2 also directly contributes to the idea that it isn't trying to be in the past because it isn't the actual souls of the MCI
Hey Ambience, Ive been watching your guides for a long time and was wondering if you could make a video on beating every fnaf game in a row. See this as a challenge. Edit:Im really sad that you dont upload anymore.
I still love FNAF and play all the games with joy/terror (not SB), but I don't think it's as interesting lore- and mystery-wise, since the story is just kind of going on random tangents, compared to the much more coherent and focused story of 1-UCN, and it's probably not even solvable since there have been misunderstandings between the creators, according to Scott. Into the Pit is probably not canon. It just removes a layer of interest.
i would also like to add that i think fnaf is going through what marvel is as well. As in, endgame happened, that was the conclusion to the story, if all movies ended there they it wouldn't feel wrong just like how fnaf's story with william afton ended. but both kept going, and i think that has left a lot of people behind in a way but its also just hard to stay invested in something you've have your emotional release for. i also think the mimic should've also been revealed way sooner, it was very badly done to even suggest that william might be back and honestly was just an insult to the people who have been following the story for the past 5 years. theres also just other issues of sb leaving a really bad first impression on people but my personal gripe with it is the animatronics talking, which im aware they have been doing since sister location but i didnt like it in that game either but i just dont like how the animatronics are also your friends in sb and the dlc
I be honest with you, SB was pretty much doomed from the very beginning. there are a lot of factor that beat the game to how it is today, that would worth an hour long documentary video.
The only reason I remember your username, is because I edited a video for my friend where he watched your guide of NIGHT 7 FNAF 4 for help and called your mii the "Wii maker" 💀 if you care enough to see it this is the title lmao "The 10 MONTH Journey to Beat NIGHTMARE | FNAF 4" You are at timestampt 16:32
You talked a lot about how arguments have been failing. Have you been learning about philosophy lately? Cuz i recently read about fallacies and you dispelling arguments reminds me about the reading material, and i think that's pretty cool
I do like philosophy and debate/logic a lot, but the way I format video essays is probably influenced just as much by being a psych student during my first attempt at college, especially during story/atmosphere segments lol. Horror is a very psychological genre to begin with so I like trying to explain WHY things are scary or not scary a little bit when I get the chance. If the FNaF 2 video ever comes out, that'll be very evident.
When he gets in cam 2, seal cam 15, and when he gets in front of you, set an audio lure to cam 2. This is the most consistent strat for Aggressive Nightmare
I got into the series for the fun gameplay. Didn't stick around for all too long, though, because I never enjoyed the lore much. The fun reactive chaos hooked me, and I quickly jumped into the fangame scene; sure, a lot of people diss fangames for being repetitive and poorly designed, which is true for plenty of them. But the better fangames are far more fun than the base series ever was and offer an obscene level of challenge for those interested. As for FNAF itself, I hated Sister Location, it bored me to sleep; Simulator was much the same story, and Security Breach is a piece of garbage disguised as a game. People continue to make fangames that expand on the basic formula from 2014, and I continue to enjoy them. That's good enough for me as far as Fnaf is concerned.
Well security breach could’ve been good if they took notes from alien isolation matter fact I do see some bits of influence. Like the long amount of time to save your progress.
We need hw2 walkthrough
Absolutely 🖤
Ambience I have stumbled upon a strat that might make fnaf 2 golden Freddy mode beatable 100% of the time.
I dont know how or why but the name ambience and your mii just randomly popped up in my mind
I remember you from the Mario 64 days, happy to see all your success! You’re a cool dude hope you have a great day 👍
"I've officially wasted almost half of my life on this stupid bear"
Same, and I have no regrets
I’m glad to see someone actually talk about the good of modern Fnaf for once.
Same
This video is a prime example of why I subbed to you in the first place.
Then how you explain SB fans?
He's made his grand return! With an updated pfp as well!🎉
He always comes back!
Hello Ambiance good to have you back with another video:) hope you’re doing well!
THIS IS HAND DOWN THE BEST TAKE ON FNAF EVER
Yup, absolutely well spoken
Just like afton, You always come back.
Then how you explain SB fans?
Modern FNaF isn't bad, Security Breach base game was bad.
2+ years of waiting for that
That's 2+ years I'm not getting back
@@Flairex two years…..
Sb is a lovingly made game that pulled an icarus and flew too close to the sun
five laps at freddy's is good?
@@Smiley_404 idk haven't played it yet
Really good video, man. Deep down a part of me has thought this for awhile while still preferring the older stuff.
Holy word vomit please press enter
@@georgearch8917 It's not like you *have* to read through it...
If Glitchtrap isn’t the mimic, we need an explanation of how William Afton got a “get out of jail free” card from UCN to get sucked into a floppy disk and put in a VR game.
“Why are there in Ruin Graffities that say "They are still here" and "Forever and Ever" when Afton should be dead?”
Lmaoooo this is just blatant misinterpretation. Forever and Ever is a reference to Freddy and Friends, the old Freddy’s TV show that was introduced in Security Breach. And “they are still here” is referring to the Glamrocks, and how they’ve been abandoned here. It has nothing to do with Afton at all and saying it does is ignoring all the evidence that afton is dead.
yo Ambience whats goodd!
Welcome back ambience nice to see you here again
This video was kinda eye opening in some aspects , i never really realized how different every fnaf game is before even the "Modern fnaf era"
i was into the "Security breach is not a fnaf game at all" train when it first came out (Granted the game was riddled with bugs obviously so that put a bad taste in my and others mouth)
But your perspective helped me understand secuty breach more
The lore part tho i always agreed with a view like yours, fnaf lore will never be 100% solved and always has some plot twists or new charecters added in the mix per game cause thats just how fnaf story has always been so interesting for better and worse , if people hate "Modern fnaf " story then they hate fnaf story as whole lol but off course Clearly modern fnaf isnt written by scott (Even tho it is ,yes i seen people say that lol) so its perfectly okay to trash on it ,i am not saying fnafs story hasnt had big flaws or questionable decisions that are worthy of critisim but a lot of new fans need to understand how fnafs story has always worked ,maybe because i never have been a die hard theorist in fnafs lore my opinion is invalid but whatever
AND YES as you said the themes and tone of fnaf play a big role , even if i am not the biggest fan on fnafs story in some aspects, the humor ,atmosphere will always be engaging to me even if it sometimes lacks some aspects (Lack of a lot of horror in security breach for examble thankfully ruin fixed that)
But yeah even after saying all that, i am on the "modern fnaf" doesnt hit the same sometimes boat, but there is nothing wrong with that its not like steel wood came down scotts neck and forced him to rush the clickteam era games ,no instead we got a perfect conclusion to that era and arguebly the best gameplay experience in fnaf which is ultimate custom night, even if you hate the modern fnaf era i still dont see why people act like it has ruined fnafs entire legacy ,fnafs legacy will never die ,due to the scary moments, the memes etc etc etc
But yeah thanks for this video again ,it was an eye opener that i needed for a while
I’m glad someone is finally talking about the whole Glitchtrap/Mimic situation, Glitchtrap is NOT William Afton, Glitchtrap IS the Mimic, it’s a huge plot twist that everyone assumed was retconned, Burntrap is William Aftons dead corpse that the Mimic used in the Burntrap ending, but when Ruin came out, we figured out that the Burntrap ENDING is not Canon but it’s actually the Princess Quest ending that was Canon. I might of got a few things wrong but that is how I see The Mimic/Glitchtrap/Burntrap, plus William Afton is forever trapped in his eternal Purgatory because of the Vengeful Spirit, so there’s that
Nothing is confirmed
@@Void-r3b Yea true but I said that is what I THINK about The Mimic. I still think Burntrap and Mimic are the same for the most part.
@@Void-r3b Idk why I acted like everything that I was saying is 100% confirmed but that is just my personal theory/interpretation.
Based and couldn't-have-put-it-better-myself-pilled
Mimics motivation is in the games. Hes angry at what hid creator did
THANK YOU for making this.
Well, Into the Pit should satisfy those seeking a return to the world of Clickteam FNaF.
Yo he’s back and I’m here 28 minutes after it comes out!!
I can imagine you must’ve been really excited about the demo for the remake
Scott made soo many fnaf games that I think any of these fnaf games dont have a mistake. Love your videos keep it up
🦾
Your definitely my go to youtuber when I’m stuck on some fnaf games I had no clue how to beat them without you
Tbh in ways I actually prefer new FNaF. Atleast the newer games have very good replayability and actually feel fun after many playthroughs
As much as I have enjoyed everything from this week, I'm excited that there is more to look forward to than endless Security Breach tie-ins ':)
Regardless of all this though, even if things happened differently...its been a decade.
"The books aren't entirely needed for the story"
There was an entire arc of William and Eleanor teaming up for him to become a giant ass robot to destroy a city, and also mention that the kid torturing him wasn't Cassidy but some rando from the books.
you know, just as I was wondering when the next upload would be *this* pops up XD
good video, strong arguments, well delivered
I know that this will be somewhat controversial with people, but despite all of it's flaws, Security Breach is my personal favorite FNAF game.
Hopefully you don’t mind me saying almost the same thing, but still, we are so back
Honestly if it werent for covid spreading the entire steel wool crew up, Security Breache COULD have been incredible. Maybe they'll remake it in the future, who knows.
I mean, ruin DLC was supposed to be them making up for security breach being badly received.
It kinda worked but also caused even more controversy but I’d say it’s better than the base game.
I don’t see them remaking security breach. Covid sucked.

Such an underrated RUclipsr. Love your videos and insights!
Maybe the gameplay isn't the best in some fnaf games, but the lore always seems really interesting and goes really in depth
Thoughts on the possibility of being looped as Springtrap by Nic Cage in the school from Silent Hill next Summer?
cant wait
Ppl who still like fnaf

LETSSS GOOOO HE’S BACK
There's definitely some genuine complaints about modern FNaF but I feel like the majority of them that I hear are just "Security Breach bad therefore everything else is too" which really annoys me.
I've played fnaf since the
beginning, and I think the series still holds up well, except for about 30% of the community.
If anything is gonna kill fnaf it is 100 percent gonna be "that" side of the community
THIS. THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO HERE !!!!
welcome back bro!
now i don’t have to type these points in comments sections anymore!!!! thank you!!!!
Lest go Ambience uploads! Also will you stream or make a vid about the new TJOC, or any new stuff that has come out this week?
maybe! busy times right now but I'm super excited to play everything from this week I didn't have time for, not sure if content would be made on it but it's definitely possible
looks who's back :)
A lot of people complain about security breach not being scary but honestly that kinda a big reason I’m into the franchise, I’m a huge wuss with horror and security breach seaming not it scary was a great entry point for me to ease myself in and now that is to it I’m really into a bunch of other horror stuff thanks to it
The lore being complicated is also another reason I love the franchise, it’s an ongoing mystery that can always change, yes it can get frustrating but the main reason I love this franchise is watching theories and seeing people solve it
FNaF has always been great gateway horror honestly. I played FNaF 1 in 2014 when I was 10 and it scared the hell out of me, but it also made me a horror fan for life lol. Security Breach is an easier way to ease into the franchise and the genre in general for people who spook easily, and I'm glad it serves that purpose.
@@AmbienceOfficial ye I feel it works well as attracting new fans in
@@AmbienceOfficial also thanks for replying, ur Fnaf 1 guides are like the only reason I was able to what the game and now ur guides are gonna be a big reason I’m about to beat FNAF 2
Ambience did you deleted some of your older streams off of your channel?
Can't find them anywhere.
He's back
I think I just never really got over the original Security Breach release whiplash.
Also Into The Pit was awesome and felt very nostalgic, so that's definitely gonna help a lot.
this a great video man, it's also nice to see something from you again, it's been a while :)
I wish the next VR game had a far more hands on Pizzaria Simulator
why is nobody talking about the fist song he used where its just the one fnaf 6 song but its looping one part wayyyyyy longer than its suppose to 😭🤣
Great video! I find it pretti crazy how good you are at Commentary or whatever its called
long time no see ambience 😊
He's back, can't wait to see more videos from you.
thank you for putting my thoughts about modern fnaf into something i could easily show other people :]
he returned
I like the concept of the mimic, I don't like how they put him on the past, I really hope the mimic didn't interfere in the fnaf 1 - UCN because I don't like how "I was always there but I never got mentioned"
(Yes I know that's a bit hypocritical)
I'm still a fan of the franchise....
It's less of the fact that Mimic was revealed to have been burntrap but how it was handled and in general how fnaf has handled it's villains in these recent entries: (even if a part of it is security breach's messy development and my personal missunderstandings of the story)
At the end of the day all our villains are some form of the mimic; (Glitchtrap Is the program, Vanny is someone possesed by It, and the ruined mimic/burntrap is the original endoskeleton) that's their main villain; however as I said they can't seem to pick a version they wanna stick to; especially with Vanny being semingly dumped after her 1st apperance (even if there are plans to bring her back in some way); certanly not helped due to our lack of information, since we had no information at the time of their reveal, that the only logical conclusion was that Glitch/Burntrap were afton again; instead of a new antagonist.
@@georgearch8917 I guess; still kind of weird but I'll take It.
The real hot take
I have to agree with the end part especially
Personally for me, im always a gameplay comes first type of person regardless of the genre unless i really like the narrative experience (Ruin), which is why i don't like games such as Sister Location and (hot take) Help Wanted 1 which become really boring and unengaging experiences especially on a replay, but even though i personally consider them bad because of their bad gameplay, others will still like it for other reasons
But i liked Helped Wanted 2 and Security Breach is an enjoyable disaster, and i like the direction the narrative is going now with the Mimic, so yeah, id say modern fnaf is good and i think Secret of the Mimic will continue that and maybe be the ultimate game for Steel Wool
Fnaf into the pit is amazing! Also I'm upset to not see many face cam portions in this video.
Time sure does fly
@@missangelpirateprincesspea7263 it sure is amazing! Also FFPS is free!
Whens the dreadbear tutorials
As flawed as Security Breach is, I’ll always be a defender of its base-gameplay, I love everything about it, I think the stealth is actually well implemented, I enjoy the almost-metroidvania esque level design. Sure the game has “fetch quests” but each fetch quests brings you to a different area with new objectives, it really isn’t as bad as people say.
U reminds me of Zero from GTA san Andreas, I love him so much like u bro ❤️❤️❤️
just gonna point out the sick new pfp, welcome back ambience
The goat is back 🥳🎉
To be fair, I think that it is fair that FNAF is kind of stuck in the past, considering that The Mimic, a representation of grief of a man, needed to be imitating William in order to make an impact, or having Michael room in Security Breach, or having the MCI graves in Help Wanted 2, I think that this elements aren't quite necessary in order to convey the modern story, Why the Mimic needed to copy Afton in order to be a competent villain?, Why do we need to see for the dozen time the MCI kids?, Why specifically the games before were treated as in universe games, but at the same time happen, but not quite, but is confusing (?)
I think that the story could have done a lot better if we had clean up the story from its beginning, which means we shouldn't have to be solving mysteries of the other story, but mysteries of this story, the new Mimic game seems to be a good step in the right direction, take what you need of before to tell this tale, but dont muddy the waters with nysteries that aren't really relevant for this new story .-.
This realization happened to me with the re-discussion of the name of the Crying Child and if Golden Freddy has two or one kid, I don't really think is healthy for the new story to constantly questioning the story we are supposed to have ended 4 games ago, quite the contrary, I firmly believe that in order to completely move with this new tale is by explaining the old one and not gave it to obscurity, I think as a community we deserve that
Now the new story that Steel Whool has been cooking, I think that is very competent and has the potential to be the lore with the best characters and lore, so I wish we continue to work unto that new tale of this new era
Now, I gotta admit, I begin writing this comment without expecting to go so deep with it, but here I am, please don't send hate to no one, this video is awesome and I fully agree with his conclusion, but I gotta be allowed to criticize my favorite franchise once a year right?
Into the pit probably is canon
@@Sing87ehI tried to interpret it this way but it has differences from the main games which imply it's still in the book continuity
@@malucart yea it's in the book continuity which is canon
i would also like to add that i think fnaf is going through what marvel is as well.
I disagree. The animatronics being friendly is the best part about SB. Because they feel like actual characters instead of static objects.
Just have a question about fnaf 3. Can you hallucinate springtrap in the vent?

Are you still working on the hour long video of why fnaf 2 is badly designed?
Very slowly, but yes, I still want to finish it eventually
