Caleb I highly doubt you will read this but I love the show, helped steer me back in the right direction with my own finances a bit and I saw a comment suggesting family audit… I think this would be a great concept and would definitely harvest a lot of attention as most bad spending habits are inherited… if u ever read this just consider it man, u already got the perfect setup and can just build on ot
Kind of gets to the heart of the "why aren't there more normal people that just need a little nudge?" comments. Unless you have some incredibly complex situation (in which case Caleb might end up recommending you see a credentialed financial advisor anyway), you should be able to watch 3 random videos from this channel and get your finances on the right track. The fact this girl got $8,500 from an insurance payout, then went out and financed a $22k+ car while only putting $6K DOWN is fucking bananas. 18% interest too. That's wild.
Honestly I’m gonna cut her some slack because 1 for the shows it’s one of the better terms out there and as a mechanic Honda crv if properly maintained this thing is bullet proof and will outlive most cars hands down
Yes, this I do not get, especially at that interest rate. If you put 8500 into the cheapest available new car (Kia? Hyundai? not sure anymore haven't car shopped in ages, but when I did, it was things like Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Accent, etc.) I bet you would get a lower interest rate, even with awful credit, and would get a much lower mayment and likely higher gas mileage along with cheaper insurance. I do not get the whole SUV craze (or crossover or whatever), I am a budget car person, the smaller the better, the cheaper the better. And I have gotten plenty of good miles and good life on my cars.
I work in financial aid, help students with their FAFSA, and every time I can convince a student NOT to get loan when they don’t need it I feel like a huge weight was lifted of my shoulders. Some parents really be advising to their kids to take the loans, to take everything the feds offer not knowing the real impact on the student who is irresponsible and doesn’t know how to manage money. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of students need them and those I try to give them as much info about how loans work as I can.
After working in academic support, you wouldn’t believe the amount of people that think finiancal aid does not need to be repaid. The name is misleading for first gen’s
I worked in financial aid too and what really pained me was those predatory Sally Mae loans… the tuition at the community college was 67 a credit hour and I understand not everyone has the financial capacity to pay even 67ch but there are better ways to go about it then private loans!
I’m a professor and I always ask my students at the beginning of the term if they know how much this class costs. It’s ALWAYS crickets. I explain that my class costs around $1000 plus supplies. Then I tell them to not pay $1000 plus supplies to fuck around and not get an A.
YES - I have a card that I use for this purpose, where I get 5% back on specific categories of spending. But the interest rate is 15%, so I'm only saving money because it gets paid off every month. Because 15 > 5.
I get points with my card. You buy stuff in certain categories and get a % back in points. When you have 2000 points or a multiple of 2000 you can trade the points for $20 for each 2000 points. I never carry a balance on my card and only spend on it when I can pay back right after using it. That way I get free money with my card
No you don't even when I carried a balance I still get paid the rewards for the purchases I made. They way you make it sound like it's as if I never recieved them.
The tricky thing about such reward cards: people are more likely to spend, and more likely to spend higher amounts when it's just a swipe of a card. That alone already eats up those juicy 5%, unless someone belongs to the rare exception of folks that can resist this psychological trap. Most won't, hence companies make bigger profits even if those X% rewards are taken into consideration.
The "everything will be fine" mentality is definitely a slippery slope. It makes sense to try to have a positive attitude but not if it causes you to excuse reality.
I feel like most people in my life have that mentality. Like my Mom will say I'll be fine and I need to have faith in God when I talk about being worried about my finances. But because of a stupid debt I have, I'm not able to put extra away for retirement and it'll take 3 more years to pay it off. I think people don't want their loved ones to be stressed but it also causes more problems if they manage to convince that loved one that it's not a big deal. They'll continue to do that stupid thing and dig themselves deeper in the hole.
@@sprint7412 God also wants to see action. My wife and I have had this conversation a lot and there is a difference between trusting God and tempting God. If you work towards something in faith to help get you out of the position I believe God will help you. However, if you make no changes can God really help you if you are not willing to accept his help by making a change?
@@RobertSorenson4991 Yeah, I know God doesn't give help unless a person is trying to do better which I am trying. I even managed to get a higher position at my work that included a pay raise and I've been using that extra money just to pay off the debt faster. It's just when I try to talk about my struggles every one around me says I'll be okay or it'll work out. I think my Mom says I need to have faith in God because she really doesn't want me to be stressed. Thing is though I've also noticed other people being told the same things even though it seems like they aren't trying to make changes. They'll continue to eat fast food or go on out of town trips, say they're broke and have a lot of debt, then people around them say "it'll be ok" or "it'll work out".
I am officially out of consumer debt. I have had credit cards and been paying off the balance for a years but I have always needed to use the credit card to be able to make it to the next month because I used a bit too much of my money. This week…all my credit cards are zero and I have enough money to pay all my bills and a minor emergency. I am not dependent on credit cards for anything and all my balances are zero!
@@Revert2017 I am trying... I recently paid off about $600 on my cards but got a long while to go. Just got a small $1.50/hour raise so I'm going to use that and put it towards savings every paycheck instead of thinking it exists.
Sadly both of these behaviors are taught in childhood. If people don't see their parents modeling financial responsibility they will have no basis to understand what that behavior looks like. If people don't see their parents taking accountability for their own life, they will have no capacity to understand how to do that. This goes far beyond finance; this is why teachers get threatened by kids' parents for dishing out bad grades, this is why people don't even understand how to find and keep employment. If you have even basic levels of responsibility these days jobs will fast track you for management because the skill is so rare.
@@e1000sn There are reasons Freud isn't the standard for psychology anymore. One of them is that putting EVERYTHING on childhood experience is ridiculous.
Well the moment the $200 bill came up and Caleb lost his mind was when she showed her true self of intentional avoiding being responsible with her bills
@@MimiRAM0NE I'm not talking about some repressed memory. I'm talking about literally the entire experience from age 1 to adulthood. If your parents lack basic soft skills they simply won't be capable to teach them. Sure people can learn these things later. But for many it's not even obvious to them that they want or need these skills.
$152k of debt in your 20s is absolutely insane. Especially since she isn't/wasn't a business owner or went to law/med school. You gotta really try hard to rack that up 😂

I accidentally crashed my car, but my mom and dad didn’t teach me to not text and drive. It’s a crazy example I know but this was how the first part of the video was playing out 🤣🤣🤣
So no joke, I used to work for Law Enforcement trainers. One senior patrolman drove off of a loading dock and claimed we "didn't train him not to" to get out of being held accountable. Of course, it worked, because police unions are impenetrable.
I think the only difference is people _tell_ you not to text and drive even if it's not your parents. But _noone_ actually tells people how to use their moneys correctly. Except daddy caleb
The sooner you stop blaming your parents, the sooner you can get your life together. My parents got divorced when I was a kid and they both had drug/alcohol problems since I was a toddler. My dad got custody of me and my brother. They are 59 and 60 with a lot of debt and zero retirement. I have made it my goal as an adult to stay out of debt and slowly build retirement. Was healthy enough to join the Air Force to get my degree paid for. Read books and watch RUclips videos to find a different way to do things. For so many years I did not travel and shopped at the Goodwill. Now, I can travel and I shop at Walmart for most clothing and home items so I can travel and stay at home with my daughter. Get creative and do things a different way. You’ve gotta make the choice to be different than your family!
I sincerely hope OP sees this comment and reads it. This right here is living proof your parents can't stop you from still living a financially independent life IF you're willing to learn from outside sources and educate yourself.
My college professor had meth addicted parents in a house full of kids. You could NOT tell by her demeanor or outlook on life. She has her masters, working on phd, has a family, raising them as a Christian household. It can be done if you want it bad enough.
I was initially sympathetic because she was 18 and being a generally obedient daughter and listening to the advice of her parents, whom she loves and trusts. Then it turned out she was just lying to us about all of that.
Or blaming anyone, not just parents! Someone can say there are powerful, entrenched systems that make life harder for a lot of people in America and I may agree. But America also has massive potential for individuals to make massive, positive changes in their lives, regardless of what party runs things. Even if things are unfair you can't sit around waiting for them to become fair when it may take decades and you have the ability to live a better life in 2-3 years with some hard work and realistic thinking.
This last pay period i didnt get a paycheck because of a problem with our payroll system (we are going to get double on our next check), but whereas in the past i would have totally freaked out, i just dipped into the emergency fund and i will replenish when my double check comes... HAVING AN EMERGENCY FUND IS AN EMERGENCY! I wouldnt have survived without it!
It sounds like your employer should have had an emergency fund as well. Not getting paid because of a payroll issue is unacceptable. Keep your emergency fund going but please don’t tolerate this excuse from your employer. They had a cash flow problem; not a payroll problem. It’s going to happen again and you might not get paid at all. I would be looking for another job.
@AmirahJoy I actually looked into it because the excuse didn't sit well with me. It wasn't a payroll problem or a cash flow problem. It was human negligence... we submit paper timesheets to a liason on-site, and it is her job to deliver them to an offsite office. She was late delivering one whole set of timesheets so they were pushed to the next pay period. She has been making too many errors like this, so we have been loudly complaining...
I am baffled by how many people use doordash. Especially when they don’t have any money. How is a soggy burger better than just making yourself some cheesy pasta?
I hate Door Dash. During the peak of the pandemic, we weren't doing anything else/going out. We didn't have any loss of income, so we'd treat ourselves to delivery once or twice a week as some small connection to the outside world. It's terrible. Since things are back, we probably have ordered like....10 times since 2021. You're exactly right, with how long it takes to get to your house, the sauces separate, things get cold, soggy. I can go to the Thai place, tip 20%, get apps, iced tea, and it's still cheaper than Door Dashing just an entree. It's TOTALLY not worth it.
That money piece is not it. Why oh why does she have a lightened brassy piece on one side, but not the other?!?! As a hairstylist, I’m looking for what could possibly cost $500 🤔
I would like to challenge the Financial Audit team to find a guest who will say, "Yes, last month was absolutely typical, and I don't have a long explanation."
Eh. The hard part is that life happens. For instance, I keep aiming for a “typical” month but next week I have a friend moving in temporarily and my monthly expenses are going to go up for about six months. Next week I have a road trip that I planned months ago. Last month I got a couple of overtime shifts. Stuff just happens and I’ve come to accept that there is no “typical”.
@@winry2357 THIS!! One month it’s $50 smog + $250 for car registration renewal, next month hybrid battery on my car goes out - $650 for the refurbished battery + rental car costs so I can keep working, $150 for diagnostic fee, next month it’s $200 for guard card training and certs. Every month there is *something* in the multiple hundred $$ range lol that’s why I shoot for bringing in at least 2K more a month then my base monthly expenses. That way I can cover the extras while still having stuff left for savings.
I know a girl that was at least 100K in debt after we finished nursing school. It was not student loans, but credit cards and car payments. She later on bought NOT ONE BUT TWO NEW AUDIS. It is insane! She will randomly complain about money. Or say things about being short on money. I feel bad for her.
Idk when people use the excuse that “no one taught me” I just remember that every single human being was born here without knowledge of anything (my best friend just had a baby and has to teach her how to eat… THE MOST BASIC OF LIFE BASICS). At this girl’s age, it becomes her responsibility to educate herself on things she doesn’t know… The internet is a wonderful tool!
If only we had an all knowing being could tell us all we need to learn in this life...And if only it was the size of your palm...and fit in your pocket..In this day and age, the cell phone is the equalizer. And anyone blaming the lack of knowledge would rather spend hours on insta.
Right?? Like even before i discovered financial audit , i was smart enough to not max out my credit card, don’t spend too much on it, and pay it at the end of every month. From there I asked the adults in my life more questions, was still confused, but i knew not to spend more than what I can afford. If i don’t got , i don’t got it. Lately I’ve been making myself get more educated, i bought a few books, watching financial audit helped me figure out a budget, i really don’t understand the excuses
This! I was never taught about financial literacy when I was just starting out either but I treated Google like my dad and asked for every bit of knowledge I could get my hands on to get educated. Those who don't know should search/read.
Yep. A lot of babies are born not even knowing how to suckle. They have to stay close to Mama to learn how to breathe. Breathe! They don't even know how to do that properly when they're born.
True. I hate borrowing money in general, hence the idea of taken on debts is foreign to me. Worse: the idea of paying said debt with interest is straight up disgusting to me. I get the logic behind going into debt to buy or build a house, that one can make a lot of sense (i'm not in that position anyways). The same holds true for going into debt to build up a business, or maybe go to college IF you already know you are good at whatever you intent to study. But borrowing money to spend it on BS? Nope, that's a big screaming NOPE! Oh, and nobody needed to tell me anything like that. This is a mentality that should more or less be normal if you learned how to spend your frickin pocket money as a kid, and later on earned your own money by yourself. I mean money you earned yourself feels better and for a lack of a better word heavier in your pockets. I really don't want to waste my hard earned money... but somehow wasting money is THE big thing these days.
like house MD once said, everyone lies. People always say they never have money but shine a light on their expenses and it will always tell a different story.
Multiple times she has claimed that her parents convinced her to take on the debt and they would pay it off. After A LITTLE digging we come to find out that no, they convinced her to take out the debt with the idea that she would be employed and be able to pay it back herself. The lies we tell ourselves… 😔
A little later on when talking about a CC she tells one lying excuse, then Caleb points out it’s BS so she switches to a totally different lying excuse and looks shocked when changing stories doesn’t work and Caleb still holds her accountable. She isn’t used to anybody not believing one or two BS stories she throws at them and actually keeping her accountable.
I knew it!! especially when she says she has to pay her parents back for something else… Like if they owed her something they wouldn’t be asking for money back
I think its both a truth and lie, she might have gone to her parents to consult them and they might have given her a sure why not kind of reply so she twisted it to sound like they'd help her pay it. I say this because her own parents are in deep sht too. 💀 so I think the whole family has bad habits in discipline and responsibility
Right? We bought my car that I’ve now driven for 7 years for $4k and my wife’s car (which is much nicer) that she’s now driven for 5 years for $7k, we make well over 6 figures, literally gets us from point A to point B… and to top it all off, they are both older Lexus suvs, so dependable, Toyota parts. People just fall for car debt traps so much!

WE KNOW YOU SPENT THE MONEY. TELL US WHERE THE CREDIT CARDS ARE OR WE SHUT THESE CAMERAS OFF AND REALLY START "ASKING QUESTIONS" -what the lighting is giving
same my friends from college always bought luxury branded items especially shoes and cap. they were also go out on expensive vacation every month. Glad I don't have debt at all.
I think you need a whiteboard or use one of the monitors to write how much interest the guest is losing each month. so when they try to justify things like bleached hair or a cruise, you can have the number visible to them and you can ask them if it's worth losing $200/ month. We know everyone who comes on refuses to look at their statements, this will hit them hard. Or just tell them the total they lose each month if they don't fix their spending.
Yes. I have been saying the political streamers need to use white boards or something to show a flowchart of their thinking. Caleb can have a white board to show the interest and his guest can have a white board to draw their thinking.
My issue with the lighting is that it looks like it’s being filmed in a dingy basement. ESPECIALLY when you contrast it with the ad reads with warmer and better spread lighting. It’s a jarring change that makes the show look way less professional than it actually is.
How quickly Caleb can repeat the word “no” amazes me every time. He must be able to single tongue crazy fast. This is a reference to playing brass instruments and not anything else.
Caleb, my dude, I paid off my credit one card thanks to you opening my eyes to it being a pile of shit. I also paid off ATT a total of $1,335 before they sent me to collections. Now just building onto my emergency fund, as well as putting extra money toward my auto loan (5.9% 60 month loan on a $32,000 OTD Camry) and school loans ($25,000) it’s gonna be a wild ride, I’ve been working 96 hours a week for the past couple weeks to pay what I’ve paid but I’m gonna keep watching your vids as motivation to get it all done
I was trying to sympathize with her almost the whole time but then a “splurge” of $500 dollars for one appointment at the salon?!?! Wtf that sent me over the edge geezus. I hope she makes some changes and starts taking responsibility for her actions. We all have hard times and family problems to navigate. Man up and deal with it.
I am in a comfortable financial position, the MOST I ever splurged was...100 bucks...nope, it's going to grow out soon, 500 isn't going to last more than a couple of months...
Hey Caleb, love your channel and what you do. Since finding the show a few months ago, I have made so much better progress than I was alone. I was up to 13k in CC debt with 12 cards between my wife and I. All 30%. Since opening them we have lost 13,000 in interest (your show taught me to go calculate this and track it!) and we now have paid off 3 of the card with the snowball method (no emergency fund right now but we are military so I feel like we are a bit safer there because AER exists and the debt is burying us.) and now we have only 9k in CC debt and still hacking at it. We applied to be on the show and I hear you yelling at me in my head all the time lol. I even went out and got a job at dominos just to make extra money on top of our income to keep attacking (our household income is now like 130k a year!) and we plan to be out of CC debt by end of year then save up 10k emergency fund, payoff RV (horrible decision years ago) and save up 40k for a house downpayment when my wife retires in 10 years. Thank you so much for this show. I'm not perfect according to your rules but I'm much better and slowly improving more by changing lifestyle bit by bit. We can do it. Anyone can do it. Thank you so much. Our 3 kids won't be responsible for us when we are old because of you, and they will be thankful for your show because of that as well.
yeah that's the wild thing about all of this - I was taught absolutely nothing, but debt scared me, all the commercials, all the people complaining about bills, just by proxy I knew better
Until about a year and a half ago I just assumed you could only buy with what you have in your current account, with exception of an overdraft. I had no idea how credit worked, and just assumed it was some weird thing you don't get. My mum never had them and my dad did but he moved to the other side of the UK so has very little input in anything. Then mum got really into finances and she drilled it into me how f*cked credit cards are. She owns her home, car and has no debts so while we make very little money we are able to live comfortably. I took out a lot of student loans last year (against her advice) but ended up dropping out after 6 months because I realised I'd never be able to pay it off and a Biology degree wasn't directed enough into a specific career. EVERYONE was saying it will be fine, you don't need to worry about loans. "The payment just comes out once a month and you don't notice it" is what most people said. My dad even said to just take out credit cards when I finish my degree if I don't find a job :') I'm living at home and starting a nursing degree tomorrow; only took out the loans for the course. There's nursing grants in the UK that I'll live off for the first year and hopefully get a job in a care home year 2 (plus the grant, but I'll be able to start paying back the 11k from my failed Biology course) Very nervous about nursing but hopefully it goes well since I have an actual goal at the end now.
@9:55 when he said “you shouldn’t apply for anything you don’t understand” was exactly my first thought when she said that. Her silence afterwards says a lot too
One thing I love about this channel is its willingness to try so many things with the videos (thumbnail, editing style, lightning, types of guest, etc.) to see if the audience loves it. Caleb and the crew are killing it! 🙌🏽
Unfortunately all these things have made the show worse. The lighting just makes everyone look worse, the editing is jarring and adds nothing, and the thumbnails are embarrassing and sometimes offensive. Some serious lack of integrity, artistic and otherwise, has really impacted my personal enjoyment of the show. I’m sure there is the argument that these things somehow improve the algorithm or whatever, and that is sad.
@@stroterptake a moment to realize you're the only one offended by the thumbnails. The people they have on agree to the thumbnails and editing. They don't post things without the other persons consent. But I guess some people just like to complain right,

Hey Caleb! I want to thank you for your videos because they ease a lot of financial stress that I have had since I was a child. My partner was just laid off a little more than a week ago, and while he feels terrible for not having a job, I'm not worried financial because we have a healthy emergency fund as well as general savings that we were using for tuition and a down payment fund. He's is also so amazing and applied for more than 500 jobs over the past week, is getting multiple interviews scheduled, and even had an in-person interview this morning!
Personally, I really hate the new lighting. The bright lights gave it more of a friendly, helpful vibe. This feels like an interrogation and that is not necessarily what I'd like to see for most people on the show.

Most of y’all want to just prove your moral high ground but if everyone else is doing so well why do you need to watch people who aren’t to make you feel better. Buying a car whose total value is >75% of your salary? Going to get another degree to get back into student loan forbearance? Utilizing pauses in student loan payback to increase lifestyle through eating out? Ordering doordash and Uber eats instead of paying off credit cards? Do we need fucking classes to address all of these remarkably stupid and obvious decisions before it finally becomes the consumers responsibility? Come on. You take out a loan, it costs interest. Schools do teach that in literally any 7-10th grade math course. All the basics to keep a person out of shitty situations are taught, we all just choose to ignore them in favor of pleasure and happiness now. It's a weak fucking excuse. If you don't understand something, don't do it. Don't get a CC, don't get a HELOC, don't refinance. It's 2024, there's a wealth of information for those who care to self serve. This is a girl that I actually see getting something out of this. She needs guidance and has made some terrible decisions but I have a feeling she wants to do better. I really hope she follows through.
The amount of people who blame their parents for not teaching them is shocking in this era where we can literally learn anything on RUclips in an instant 😮
Mine didn’t teach me, I started reading and taking classes as an adult and avoided debt, and it made all the difference. My sister never stopped blaming our parents and she died broke, absolutely broke.

It's also funny bc your parents can teach you absolutely everything and you can still choose to make horrible decisions. At the end of the day it's about our own free will.
Unless you’re getting an engineering, math, medical, or science degree, college degrees are useless. This video proves my point. This girl, with multiple “degrees” is absolutely clueless about everything.
Watching these always makes me feel better about my finances and appreciative of my old school Italian mom (who did not study finance) for teaching me about finances since I was 5. I’m a CPA now.
Caleb, not sure if you'll see this but I had a suggestion. I think most guests conflate their Credit Score with some kind of "Social-Financial" Score, which is why they are so reluctant to do anything that may damage it, such as closing their accounts. In America, there are so many commercials about improving your credit score, you may be pre-qualified for such and such, and a lot of representations that good credit = good life. Maybe you should drive the point home that credit scores are not the end all of your financial life and that sometimes we have to tear down poor decisions to rebuild into a stronger score.
This. And most of these guests are doing other things that are negatively impacting their score anyways, like missing payments, having accounts in collections, and having a high utilization rate. If you’re doing those things, closing an account is the least of your problems lol. It’s such a weird hill these guests are willing to die on.
I don't really know if that would make sense though because half the time they are messing their credit-up either way. I think it's just because especially in the last few years social media has talked about how you should never close your credit cards and you want to have multiple lines etc. And they think that closing the accounts will hurt more than maxing them out and having late payments. But your theory could definitely be right!
It is really weird to see these guest do everything they can to boost their credit score, while at the same time barely having enough money for food.LIke bro, what do you plan on using that credit for? You're drowning with the debt you're already in, how will adding more debt help your situation? I am definitely no financial expert, but every single time a guess brings up the credit score, the only thing in my mind is, "Here it comes, the credit score...when you've got thousands in credit card debt and tens of thousands in student loan debt..." I am seriously starting to believe Americans have literally no idea what the credit score actually means.
This is one of the financial myths that Caleb actually has a decent little spiel for… but he doesn’t give it any more. Explaining credit score is just a tool. Caleb needs to remember guests haven’t actually watched his content and he needs to be a broken record repeating the same lessons over and over.
I like the new lighting. Keep it. It makes Caleb look more serious and intimidating and with the types of guests he has been getting, he needs all the serious energy that he can project into these people

I'm sorry to hear ya'll got shortchanged in school, but this Gen Xr and 600 of his classmates did indeed get financial education in high school. It was called Home Economics. It covered 30% rent, credit card interest rates and finance charges, personal loans, student loans and balancing your checkbook. We also made muffins and sewed pillows. 😂
Yep, we did too. And while I did get into some financial problems back in the 90's, I now have good savings and have plenty of money in the bank. When I watch these videos, it's just proof that the United States needs to bring Home Economics classes back to schools. Adult children now have no idea.
They really need to bring back Home Ec, but I don’t 5hi k the educators of today really want their students to develop critical thinking, math, personal finance or other life skills they’ll need to survive and thrive.
@@javaskull88Speaking as an educator, we ALL want our students to be literate, successful adults. The issue comes from so many different factors. Student apathy, lack of funding, no set curriculum for home economics/personal finance, lack of interest or reward for the field I assure you, the problem isn’t the educators. It’s the underlying systems and factors! Couldn’t agree more that we need more financial literacy in schools tho.
I took HomeEc in school as well. Unfortunately, all I learned was how to make pancakes and do laundry. The important shit I had to learn by experience.

This is absolutely bonkers for me, my parents would kill me if I took any sort of consumer loan for an unnecessary purchase and she seems totally fine with that. 😂 The American way of buying things they don’t need for money you don’t have to impress the people you don’t like is mind blowing.😅

I can’t imagine $152K in debt at age 25. That’s your whole life in indentured servitude.
"I get rewards when I purchase" the amount of people don't realize you only get rewards if you pay off your balance is truly disturbing.
You still technically get the points/rewards, but the interest people end up paying will be 20-50x more than what they earn with those tiny rewards.

I think my Mom says I need to have faith in God because she really doesn't want me to be stressed. Thing is though I've also noticed other people being told the same things even though it seems like they aren't trying to make changes. She has SO much education but blames her parents for not learning about finances. Struggles to take even BASIC accountability.
Honestly, she could’ve taken a class in college that focus on personal finance if she really wanted to
Sadly both of these behaviors are taught in childhood.

Or blaming anyone, not just parents! Someone can say there are powerful, entrenched systems that make life harder for a lot of people in America and I may agree.
But America also has massive potential for individuals to make massive, positive changes in their lives, regardless of what party runs things.
I knew it!! especially when she says she has to pay her parents back for something else… Like if they owed her something they wouldn’t be asking for money back
She kept lying! 🙄🙄
I think this girl genuinely got the message on this one, I really hope she's a success story in the future
"$10k beater where the ac doesnt work that good" is a crazy statement.
A $10k car is really good.
I think it depends on the area, they are from Austin. In the last year I was looking for a car and I was looking at some for 12000 that had been hit.
@@phoneo7109 You can buy a plane ticket for $150 and drive the car back home. Buying a car in your immediate area, if the prices are higher is the dumbest thing in the world.

I gasped when the total debt was shown, that’s so much money…my heart really sank for her.
i watched friends in college go on cruises while i had to stay back and work and it always stung,,,, but it makes sense now
same my friends from college always bought luxury branded items especially shoes and cap. they were also go out on expensive vacation every month.
Agreed !
Yes. I have been saying the political streamers need to use white boards or something to show a flowchart of their thinking. Caleb can have a white board to show the interest and his guest can have a white board to draw their thinking.
Agreed. I want debt total, monthly debt payment, and monthly interest accrued.
Yeah sometimes seeing the numbers will help and a wake up call rather than Caleb just saying it, it'll just pass by their head.
@airthrowDBT Yes, good idea.
And how much they'll end up paying for that car, that holiday etc...
My issue with the lighting is that it looks like it’s being filmed in a dingy basement. ESPECIALLY when you contrast it with the ad reads with warmer and better spread lighting. It’s a jarring change that makes the show look way less professional than it actually is.
Might be the most insane financial audit I've seen to date. This is not going to end well for her. Going on a cruise is pure comedy!
How quickly Caleb can repeat the word “no” amazes me every time. He must be able to single tongue crazy fast. This is a reference to playing brass instruments and not anything else.
I literally read this comment as he started the nononononononono
I can say this is fact. I'm a woodwind player and can single tongue really fast and double tongue. This is definitely his brass training at work
Someone needs to do an analysis on the marriages of people who can also play wind and brass instruments.

Can we please bring back showing the total amount of debt in the corner?
Caleb, my dude, I paid off my credit one card thanks to you opening my eyes to it being a pile of shit. I also paid off ATT a total of $1,335 before they sent me to collections. Now just building onto my emergency fund, as well as putting extra money toward my auto loan (5.9% 60 month loan on a $32,000 OTD Camry) and school loans ($25,000) it’s gonna be a wild ride, I’ve been working 96 hours a week for the past couple weeks to pay what I’ve paid but I’m gonna keep watching your vids as motivation to get it all done
Still waiting for the fiery total debt to return on the bottom of the screen.
ME. TOO. Glad I’m not the only one…
I got my highlights done, a haircut, a month of tanning, and 20 units of botox in my forehead for less than $500!!!
When you're a broke college student you "splurge" for a 5$ Starbucks.
Why would you try to sympathize with someone lying out the gate, dodging all accountability, and clearly made up of excuses?
I love this! Congrats
So good to hear. Good for you!!!
People rarely get financial education. But the fear of debt alone should guide you to what lifestyle you should comfortably afford.
yeah that's the wild thing about all of this - I was taught absolutely nothing, but debt scared me, all the commercials, all the people complaining about bills, just by proxy I knew better
My dad even said to just take out credit cards when I finish my degree if I don't find a job :')
I'm living at home and starting a nursing degree tomorrow; only took out the loans for the course. There's nursing grants in the UK that I'll live off for the first year and hopefully get a job in a care home year 2 (plus the grant, but I'll be able to start paying back the 11k from my failed Biology course)
Very nervous about nursing but hopefully it goes well since I have an actual goal at the end now.

Caleb def lit up like the financial-audit god lol.
Looks more like an interrogation room, but whatevs. You do you.
I like it
One thing I love about this channel is its willingness to try so many things with the videos (thumbnail, editing style, lightning, types of guest, etc.) to see if the audience loves it.

"My parents never taught me, but also they have no money, and their financial situation has always been shit all my life". How are they supposed to teach what they dont know themselves? I hate when people come on here blaming their broke parents like it's an excuse and not an incentive to be better
Calling the parents should be the new segment of the show
Personally, I really hate the new lighting. The bright lights gave it more of a friendly, helpful vibe. This feels like an interrogation and that is not necessarily what I'd like to see for most people on the show.
That’s like the whole point of the show lol
Did you watch this episode? She barely answered any questions
I'm glad this show conclusively proves that it's not "financial literacy" that's the problem...it's choices and behavior.

It’s pretty annoying how most people in the comments are just so self righteous and “ I never would do something like that” I wasn’t taught by my parents and I have 10k saved up” like okay congratulations? Most of y’all want to just prove your moral high ground but if everyone else is doing so well why do you need to watch people who aren’t to make you feel better. Some of y’all just want to pass judgement to make your own insignificant lives feel worth living and it’s actually sad and insufferable
For the rest, keep paying for our CC rewards points
@airthrowDBT i 100% agree but that doesn’t negate what I said. When you were learning how to be smart and take ownership I’m sure you didn’t have thousands of random strangers commenting on how dumb you are and how much a failure you are and how you don’t take accountability
Great guest! Everyone slips up at some point. But it seems like she is willing to tackle things and get back and own her life! Fingers crossed for you! 🤞 can't wait for the follow up!
You got this! Do not give up!
There’s this magical place called the grocery store… they have food there. It’s cheaper than eating out. You can even make your food pretty by cutting it fancy. Eat the healthy stuffy they put along the outside edges.
Her lack of accountability is so painful to listen to
I was already internally screaming where she spent $495 on getting her hair done, and it didn't look like anything special. All the other stuff (new truck, etc.) just added onto this.
Omg! This! And almost even to the end of the episode she refuse to take responsibility for any of the actions! And continuing to blame her parents and say they don’t have retirement but still feel okay taking money from them. Insane and have the audacity to cry!
This is actually a tough ep to get thru. This girl is either completely delusional or a pathological liar.
Starting with her answer re her parents and the parents' plus loan: I don't believe her. She's shaping the narrative to be blameless for whatever stupid behavior we're going to learn about her.
Average failed artist behaviour from my experience.
I wish you would release the post audit show- like maybe 2 weeks later or something. I am so frugal I won’t pay for it.
No one would pay for it then
@@NikishaGR people pay for streaming even though they could use “analog- digital converters”, check out movies and shows for free at a library instead of buying physical or digital copies…people buy paperback and digital books instead of using a library.
Exactly people are in social media are more concerned with giving likes and following trends and all other kind of bs
Mine didn’t teach me, I started reading and taking classes as an adult and avoided debt, and it made all the difference.
My sister never stopped blaming our parents and she died broke, absolutely broke.
I was born in 1960's to immigrant parents relocated to London UK . They taught me the value of paying cash and making savings from my income . It is not an innate skill . We are seeing the consequences . Thanks Ma & Dad
It's also funny bc your parents can teach you absolutely everything and you can still choose to make horrible decisions. At the end of the day it's about our own free will.
The easier the information is to access the dumber the population seems to become. It's insane isn't it?!?!
Unless you’re getting an engineering, math, medical, or science degree, college degrees are useless. This video proves my point. This girl, with multiple “degrees” is absolutely clueless about everything.

I agree!

Yep, we did too. And while I did get into some financial problems back in the 90's, I now have good savings and have plenty of money in the bank. When I watch these videos, it's just proof that the United States needs to bring Home Economics classes back to schools. Adult children now have no idea.

@@javaskull88Speaking as an educator, we ALL want our students to be literate, successful adults. The issue comes from so many different factors. Student apathy, lack of funding, no set curriculum for home economics/personal finance, lack of interest or reward for the field
