This car is awesome!! Im currently building the same turbo setup on a refreshed 89 302. Current mods are f303 cam, trickflow dual valve spring kit, comp cams hyd lifters, one piece hardened pushrods, 47# FRPP injectors, GT-40 upper and lower intake port matched to E7TE castings. I am also running the stinger performance pimp ECU. hoping I can gain close to what you have hear with a little gearing. I dont see my world class T5 lasting long. lol. Good video, and keep us updated with future plans.
I would actually like to see the same setup with the smaller 67mm turbo tested to see if it light off earlier. I can't see it it hurting peak numbers but you never know.
Never got to see the final numbers because of the other videos covers up the final run numbers and other information on the screen. Great day to you Dan.
Thanks for the info. I am going to freshen up my 5.0 and give this kit a try. Anything I need to be aware of during the install? Any parts needed that don't' come with the kit? I was told to get a bigger fuel pump and 47lb injectors.
Neomustangs Do you have a part number for the injectors? How long has your turbo lasted? I heard the quality isn't that great on the turbo, and the waste gate isn't great. Your comments or suggestions on that? Was also told I would have to upgrade the transmission and axles.
Yes, trans and axles will eventually have to be upgraded. Stock parts don't handle 500 HP well. The motor is fine if tuned but the axles and trans...well that's a different story. Also the turbo is just fine. The only crappy parts I wouldn't put on my car that was NIB from on3 is the wastegate and the flex coupler on the crossover. I would cut it out and weld a good one in. Of course I would modify quite a bit but you don't really need to do that. If the WG is only gonna handle under 10 lbs its fine. But I push 15 ish+
Now YOU know what your doing! That car is amazing! I would love to have you as my neighbor! I have the same car, I'm waiting to get it painted. I thought I had the engine pretty set until I saw this! You wouldn't happen to live in SW Florida would you?! Awesome car, its bad ass! Hail to the foxbody!
Neomustangs where in Ohio can I get a tune like this? How much does he charge? I'm in Michigan and I been looking around for a person to tune my foxbody
Stock block 1989 302 w trickflow heads O ringed, trickflow R intake, custom cam and HP performance stage 2 kit 630 whp and 610 Tq on 16lb of boost. HP performance is no longer in business unfortunately.
When mine was blow thru. With a demon on 9psi. it made all of its power before 3k. Spools really quick. that was with a t-5 and 3.73 gears. But now i have a build aod with a 275 radial. And 15psi so i dont know hen its going to spool up. I should have it on the street this weekend. No tune. Just to see how the car responds with the efi, and tranny change. And i dont think imma have it tuned. Imma lock timing and watch the afr. And i hope to busting up the track on march 1st. with a better time then 12.99 at 112. btw mine is a 351w with a fcam and super vic, with a wilson elbow. Little different not much though.
I'm using an On3 kit on a 93 5.0 P heads, F cam etc from about 2 years ago. With the standard 7lb spring I'm getting what I consider boost creep. Intermittently sometimes the boost will go as high as 10-12. Where do you connect your reference hose to? The turbo housing itself? Have you ever had to add a second gate. thanks
@@Neomustangs actually I messed up. I had the reference line connected to the vent instead of where it was supposed to be. On3 helped me figure that out. Now it pulls about 5-6 psi pretty consistent and doesn’t creep higher so I’m in good shape and can add a boost controller and go from there. Thanks again for your help.
Saw your total timing was 16°. What afr are you hitting at WOT? Looking to do a blowthrough setup on my 85 and heard shoot for 11.2-11.5 to be on the safe side.
Hi I’m very curious I should be getting this turbo kit roughly a week or so. Did you get the standard on3 70mm turbo kit like from LMR or you upgraded to the ceramic ball bearing?
Neomustangs, hey I follow all of your videos and I have been cautious to ask this question. But how has the on3 kit worked out for you? Did you run stock injectors? And what problems have you run into with the kit? I have heard nothing but terrible stories about on3! But all of the videos that you have posted have seemed to show otherwise! Running in the 10's on a stock block is crazy! Very impressed my friend
I don't know chad personally at On3. Matter of fact I have never had a conversation with him. There company is where its at today because of there idea to put a direct bolt on kit for fox bodys. These engines 87-92 already came with forged pistons which is a huge plus and stock bottom end motors, especially ones that are in good shape still, can make plenty of power at the wheels with this kit doing nothing but supporting mods to the car. Such as head studs, larger injectors, valve spring upgrade (deck heads to flat too) etc. Stronger transmissions are needed and of course better axles. But this kit is pretty much a bolt on and go tune it kit. Having a custom quality tune at a reputable dyno shop that knows what they are doing is important. You should save at least 600 in your build to pay for a reputable tune even if you have to travel. As for kit quality it is above average. The piping is welded pretty well and its pretty good quality. Vbands aren't the best but save money in your build for a few extra ones just to have. The Waste gate and BOV aren't bad either. The turbos are fine as well. For the money the kit is above average. Better than any ebay crap you'd spend a grand on anyways. The first thing that usually goes on these kits is the Waste gate. But that's years into their use. Im still using 2 on3 blow out valves and don't see anything wrong with them. I have had to change one wastegate on my 2 on3 turbo builds as it was starting to boost creep/spike. I guess if there was any issue with their kits that would be one of them. Regardless good luck with your build. Most people that say On3 is junk are those folks that expect to make numbers like I do by locking the distributor and adjusting fuel pressure. That's the OLD SCHOOL way of doing it. When we didn't have the tuning abilities we do now. The only fitament issue I had with this whole kit was the Ypipe. Where the flow tubes for the mufflers (when I used to run them) attached to the back of the Ypipe it seems the ypipes flange area was too large for my 2.5 inch flow tubes. I just custom bent my own straight pipes on one car and made my own 3" down pipe on the other. If you run mufflers don't run chambered mufflers. You will suffer quite a bit of HP lose due to backpressure. If you run mufflers you have to run straight thru design or just don't run them at all. Good luck!
So the GT40P's work fine with the On3 headers? I have a 91 coupe, bone stock 302 with the exception of an explorer intake. Using E7's with ARP studs, it put down 430/480 at 12lbs using an old school TKO. I'm thinking about picking up a exploder motor in good shape and put my stock cam in that, or just throw a set of gt40p's on my motor. It runs pretty good for what it is now, if anything I need to start doing suspension mods and get some good tires under it. Zero traction as it is now. Love these On3 kits.
Yep the P heads had no issues with the headers. HOWEVER, I will forewarn you the half cut 5/8 spark plug socket is your best friend for this. I think 2 of the plugs I had to use this socket to get the plug in place. It has a wrench end on it so its nice you can just wrench it tight. I use 90 degree spark plug boots too, didn't have to use the spark plug boot covers to cover from heat but I did anyway. No big deal. I have been beating up on 2-3 of those old school TKO's (if you mean the 3550's) for years now. Just had one recently after about 200+ track passes and 4 years of use start losing its 3rd gear syncro. Wasn't rebuilt when I got it but worked just fine for years. Needs a refresh is all.
One more thing I wanted to comment on. The welds on the crossover inlet tube for wastegate and welds around the turbo flange area. Keep an eye on them. If you own the kit for a few years they will start showing signs of cracking. Its normal wear and tear. I just had to weld a few inlet tubes on the WGs up with new steel 1.75" tubing. Tigged a new one in place made a world of difference. For the price, you cant beat a little maintenance here and there.
Oh ya it does I bought it brand new it's a 750cfm I had to send them all my specs an they built it to wat I have an I have a complete aeromotive fuel system with rear sump gas tank braided lines a1000 pump an regulator With a boost port just want to get the timing setup good
It’s strange how these kits produce such a wide range of different numbers. I know ppl who said hey check this video out I’m gonna push 500 plus quick on my stock block then don’t get those numbers and are all butt hurt. As you said tuning is key, not just a mix match of parts that don’t flow well together.
@@Neomustangs Interesting, makes me wonder what i'm doing wrong. My combo made what your 88gt but i'm running P heads, TFS stage 1 cam made 380hp, 416tq. AFR's in 11.5-11.8 with 17-18 deg timing, 10lbs boost, blow through. Tested on dynojet dyno. I firgured mine should have broke 400hp. Nice Job I love your content!
90 25th GT car putting on GT40P heads should I run the Explorer intake with the heads or can I run my trick flow Street heat intake I've got both But ??? whichever intake will flow better with the GT40 heads
Well the aftermarket intake will for sure flow better but save your money just run the explorer. It’s not worth spending $700 on an aftermarket intake that give you extra 10 Hp
Hey brother. Been watching all your videos for a long time. I'm fixing to duplicate your gt that made 539hp and 602ft lb. You had a 70mm turbo. I have a on3 70mm and 78/75 on3 billet wheel. Which do you think would be better. Everything just like yours gt40p setup. Stock cam.
I’m building an almost identical setup, just a different cam, what size injectors did you use on this build. I have 47lb injectors but feel like I may need bigger.any info is appreciated
Oh OK sweet did y'all run the turbo off of one header or did you run a crosspipe? I'm trying to figure this thing out ha-ha except mine is going to be in a lifted f150
A good tune and know how. And that’s not a smart butt reply either. Medium low timing. Decent boost. I just put 460/520 down on a bone stock motor i refreshed only. Naturally GT40 makes more power so. Check out the other videos
Neomustangs very cool thanks for the info I have a 94 gt with a stock block, afr 160s, b-cam, and a vortech v3 it made 440/439 the guy who tune it likes Stay on the conservative side! I just subscribed!
Once again, the whole short block. Cam, pistons, crank everything.... Don't buy into so called "internet experts" that say blocks cant handle the power. They can if they are tuned right. The days of splitting blocks were the days where tuning was adjusting fuel pressure and locking timing. With the tuning tech we have today... that kinda isn't the case anymore.
This car has seen about 100 passes so far this year. Been tweaking it off and on a lot to get it right. Much like the blk GT turbo in the other video you commented on. We are doing a black coupe that has a lot of weight reduc suspension work with a 351 roller motor next year. Same turbo kit style with a larger turbo. it should be interesting.
That's funny you say that. I am doing a 393 roller 351. I was going to by some heads and keep it na with some n20 but after seeing what your doing on the stock 302 Iam going to on 3 a try.
So rn I have a 306ci built 5.0. It's fully forged and as it sits it is at 305whp/300lbft-tq I have it fully set up for this kit Proper injectors, fuel system, etc etc... What can I expect to make with the installation of the on3 kit?
Lol I know what forged means I built it man. I was stating that so readers knew it would handle boost well. It has an edlebrock intake and a ford b303 cam.
You should see about 450 to wheels with like a 9/10 pound spring. Maybe more with larger spring. probably around 500 range with a 12 pounds ish. Requires head studs and some springs if you don't already have.
I don't have the studs yet, but I would want to go for the 12psi. Would that be safe to run as a daily? The motor has about 2500 miles on it, and like I said it is forged.
The video is awesome I don't know if you have already answered this question or not but outside of buying this kit what else would you say is needed to get the car going. So far I'm thinking Maf for the larger injectors, larger injectors, fuel pump am I missing anything?
I run a blow thru slot style BA5000 MAF. Which is nice because that MAF has a built in ACT sensor with it. Which helps because you wont get old/false readings from the old one in the lower intake. I have ran nothing but 42# GREEN TOP ford racing injectors which always worked really well as well as the siemens deka 60#'s. Ya don't buy the ON3 60 injectors. Its not worth the hassle. You can buy good used 42s and 60s on most of the mustang enthusiasts sites like corral.net and facebook from a reputable person.
Neomustangs Thank you for the info I have been doing a lot of research and was debating if i should do this or just build a better motor, but i was confused about everything that i would really need for this to perform as well as the above video.
King Osiris good tune and don't rev to the moon. Sounds like a Dr. Seuss rhyme but it's the truth. The only thing I can't do to a 5.0 is tune it. Wish I could. New technology has also spoiled me. I daily drive an srt4 and I tune the car with a touch screen in minutes. Fuel, boost, timing all at my finger tips. Wish I had something like this for a 5.0 because I'd be alot more excited to throw another motor in it but after seeing this video I have the mustang bug again. Still got all my stuff haven't sold anything just yet.
I have a blow thru setup with the msd digital 6al2 box so would I lock out my distributer at 16 degrees or 26 degrees to bring it to wat your running I have the exact build as you just carbureted
Neomustangs hey neo just wondering what measure have you taken or better said have to be taken in order to not grenade it? as for parts like maf and in tuning do you mean just the distributor timing and the fuel or is there more like a tunable computer? just wondering so I don't grenade my baby too soon hopefully.lol
I am not sure what you mean. I refreshed a stock block with new bearings and rings along with head studs. We tuned it, it made power. If its tuned right it wont break...
Neomustangs I have a 89 GT and I have a fresh 302 im rebuilding with stock rods, stock crank and the stock TRW forged pistons. Im planning to put GT40X 64cc turbo swirls in with the Cobra intake and E303 cam as my top end. What size injectors should I get for the engine? I know I will need a 75mm tb if im not mistaken. Will I run into issues if I wanted my rebuilt 302 to top around 500 horses? I heard some have said the blocks wont last long and can split in half which makes me worried for my first build. I plan to have a professional dyno tune it for me as well. Thanks in advance :)
+Stephen Michaels Probably the most important mod you should do to a boosted 500 hp 302 stock block is getting the custom tune burned chip at a dyno. Period. And with someone who is reputable about those kinds of builds. We spend thousands on our cars to go fast but we always run out of money before a dyno/custom tune to make all those things work properly together.
I do know a couple places that can get a dyno job done for me here in the state of Alabama. My uncle has had a built turbo foxbody that pulled 600-700 horses and its what made me want to turbo my first 302. I just don't want to go over 500 because I'm afraid the stock block I have would split where I would have to fund for another block even though that's part of building a fast mustang.
Well its all about tune if you want to make power. And if its dialed in right you can do that with moderate timing and even pump gas. Timing and fuel secret ingredient with tune to make it last.
+Neomustangs that is exactly what my uncle has told me. he only said it just depends how much you floor it around the streets and drag strip. if its all about your tuning, how much fuel and air you have for the engine, I'll be focused on that as well. money is not really an issue for me as I'm 20 and still grateful to be living with my parents that understand what I'm planning on doing with one of my favorite mustangs I've always wanted.
looks nasty, stock block wont hold up to that kind of power too long though, you're going to need a main girdle on the block or a stronger 4 bolt main block, only a matter of time b4 that thing explodes, great numbers though, sure its a super fun car and thanks for posting your numbers
Actually theres nothing wrong with that build nor the one I did before it, The black GT Turbo in my other videos. Theres been no other blocks and Its been years now and I haven't blown up a motor yet. 15 pounds of boost 16 degrees total timing. I have been doing this for years and although I appreciate your concern and I can understand how you wouldn't believe this sorta thing but the proof is in the pudding. I cant give your more proof than what you see in the videos. lol.... Its in the tune. Custom and tweaked. Whether you like to believe it or not... its right there in front of you lol....
these are good motors and the tune is everything, if it works don't fix it right, maybe this will give me some more courage to turbo or supercharge my 347, no mean to insult, the car sounds awesome and i'm sure is a beast from this video
Ya the motors are definitely good. See the 302 block got a bad wrap years past due to the weakness of being able to handle pre-det and detonation. Due to lack of tech/tuning and programing sorta was the culprit. The tuning and technology available today really shows its true colors. Not taking away from those that have spent the money on their engines, but You really don't need crazy stroker builds or alum heads/cam combos to make power anymore. Sure you can make that power a little easier, maybe less timing or boost, on the stock block but regardless theres still a threshold of its limits and doing it w/o emptying your wallet is superior than running out of money ya know. That's all we did here. Theres always people out there that say "no way man" but in all actuality the proof is in the vid. That black GT is a freak (the one in my other videos). I haven't touched the bottom half of that motor and its still together and last year was its 4th year. Probably 300 passes on that car no shit. This blue car in the video has sense got a nice paint job and we actually took the motor out to do a 351 junkyard roller motor. We are building a clone lightning truck block and with a turbo kit going to push those old cast alum pistons and block to see what we make!!!
Neomustangs the tune and high rpms kill the blocks. Saw a well tuned stock 5.0 cobra making 550rwhp for years with a good safe tune and keeping rpms at 6,000 or less. Nasty build by the way. I did the same to my stock cobra. Ran good until a rod snapped in half. Was already bent to begin with though
Ya our rev limiters are set to 6200 and we gear/tire the cars for casual track times to meet that goal. Meaning coming thru the traps at that RPM. Seems to have worked very well thus far!
Hi neo. I had a hunk of cash saved up to swap a coyote in a 91 gt. A guy told me I could make huge power for around 4k with an on3 kit. He linked me to your video and honestly I can't believe this car lol. Amazing. So I want to leave you a list of what's done to my motor and you tell me what I can expect to make hp wise as safely as possible. 306 withSRP flat top pistons and forged rods Holley heads with o rings (requires wire lock head gaskets) Systemax Intake comp cam xe 274 hr cam. Can I safely achieve 500whp with that setup? I can not justify dropping 13k to swap a coyote in it if I can spent 4k-4.5k to do the on3kit and have 500 reliable rwhp. This video has me so excited. I really just can't believe those numbers man wow.
Sounds good! I live in ky so I may even drop the car off at that shop and have them tune since they're so familiar with them. How much is kit with all supporting mods that I need going to cost? And another question. I'm not familiar with turbo setups. I know a lot of Guys are running straight tailpipes, no mufflers. I have a very expensive magnaflow stainless steel catback on it now. It's the straight through design. They look chambered but they aren't. Would I be ok to run them without lagging the turbo?
That's situational basis on the chambered. If you ordered the ypipe upgrade with the kit you could tune it with the cut out and take it off while its tuning and make that decision later. If it lags it up quite a bit then I would say take them off. If you don't have any mods at all. You will need to get a in tank pump at least 255 and at least 42#' injectors. We can sell you all that stuff outside of the kit. Whats your contact, or email?
Catsfan531@hushmail.com Like I say, I need help with this purchase because I'm not too good of a mechanic to begin with and I def am unfamiliar with turbos for the most part. But I bought a pretty straight 91 about 6 months ago because I've had a love for these cars since I was little and I have big plans for it. If you could send me a list of what I need and what it would run me it would be a huge help.
I've got a 92 5.0 lx that I'm getting ready to start working on. I was advised by someone to not got over 400hp on the stock 2bolt main 302 block. I was contemplating getting a 4bolt main 302 block, but I certainly don't want to spend $ unnecessarily. Looking at this vid, it certainly seems like the stock bolt is delivering the goods. I want to be able to run 500hp safely/reliably. I just want to do it right, whatever that means. What's your take on the limits of the stock block? What would you recommend in regard to the 2bolt/4bolt dilemma?
Aberamentho2010 The question isn't the block. Its the builder and the tuner. Spec'd right, cleaned up and mic'd properly a new fresh stock block can make 500 pretty reliably for years (like my black car has done for 5 years now in my other videos) but the MAIN ingredient is a tune! Everyone cheaps out on the tune at the end. Find someone that knows what they are doing (not say they know) and take it to them. Even if that means travelling
You don't want to run slicks on the dyno less you wanna make a handful of rubber balls from the debris it causes. If that's what you mean. That's the stock style suspension but theres BBK springs, aftermarket control arms and new 10.9 grade bolt set. And of course 31 spline axles using an explorer diff!
Man I'm probably not the best person to ask that. This is built for lots of fun on the street and to put down some respectful times at the track. 10 sec street car. As for road racing I am not sure
I have a theory to that. Being that I haven't messed up a 140k mileage motor yet (the black gt) you would think something went right? Right? Well its all in the tune. My theory is people spend all this money on HCI and do the on3 and make less HP/TQ than me because they are either 1) Being tuned by someone that shouldn't be tuning it, ... or 2) they think they can "skip" the tune and go old school and just dead lock timing and set FP. Which works sorta but that's what we did back in the day to compensate for lack of technology to tune the cars right. That's shouldn't be the way it works today. Anyways, Theres no sign of either of my cars block splitting. Blocks split because people don't get them tuned or don't get them tuned right... Custom tune by a knowledgable tuner should be the best mod you save for outside of the kit itself. No exceptions. I think I proved that not once, but twice with both of my turbo stock block cars. Ya know. For the record, I have had both the black and blue GT's tuned, tweaked and touched up with tuning about 20 times between the 2 cars alone. Its not 600 bucks everytime you do it lol. Most tuners will tweak a tune for an hour here and there for like 50 bucks or 100 bucks. Which imo is well worth it.
Thanks for the reply ( I happen to be your customer ) 600$ around is about how much to save for a tune ? And what cost of the specific kit you bought? One more thing, I am scared about my t5 behind all that power. The big reason that stops me from thinking turbo, that I have to spend the same amount of money on a transmission.
Well heres the problem. T5's are fine on the street as a "substitute" until you can find a 3550 trans. Stock blocks in bone stock form (w/o GT40 stuff or cams/rockers) make 400 to wheels w/o blinking twice on an on3 kit. That's the kit that made on3 famous to begin with. Its made for this car. Theres ways to sorta strengthen ur T5 to hold a tad bit more power but again your limited to time. I just built a T5 for a guy that's gonna try to make 450 to wheels on his combo. We put a new OE input in the trans, and a few features like girdle and rear counter shaft billet retainer to keep the countershaft tight. We'll see how it holds up. I would get the car done, tuned and make some good power. Then worry about trans. As for rear diff that's another issue you start creeping towards 500 HP your gonna want new axles. In my blue GT turbo we actually robbed a 5.0 explorer of its diff because they came stock factory with 31 spline diffs that bolt right into 8.8 fox housing. We rebuilt the diff with new ford racing carbon clutch packs (80 bucks?) and found a set of good used 31 spline 4 lug fox axles from a local friend of ours. So we didn't have to pay big money for strength in the rear axle. I think we were out a total of 300 bucks putting that together minus new brakes and wheel cylinders which are cheap to begin with.
Royce Johnson I have the swap kit on my 351w. It has a airgap intake a demon 750 blow thru. It made 320hp and 520tq on 9#'s of boost. only pulled it to 4700rpm.
Im running an A9L. You must have misread something somewhere cause it made no sense. I use a 4 bank SCT custom chip and it plugs into the rear port on the STOCK ecu? Not sure what you meant.......
I've heard guys running like standalone computers such as fast and other companies Just didn't think you could take a sct chip and use it for a turbo set up just learning about turbos haha thinking of building a turbo 5.0 already have a built na
Its all in the tuning. Engines can be pushed quite well as long as its "conservative" or safe to do it. Locking timing and adjusting fuel pressure with no chip is recipe for disaster. Not saying it don't work, im saying it don't work well.
Oh yeah bro. Just if it was me I wouldn't trust the internals. The blocks can hold a little more than the 550 rating as I've been saying but it's really all in the tune & I believe it will always be on borrowed time.
Yes, its just fine. So isn't my black GT turbos motor that hasn't even been touched and has 137k miles on it. Its all in the tune. THey are custom tuned and that makes a difference. A very big difference. When boosting a car should be in the budget no excuses for chip/custom tune.
Thats good to hear i have a similar build haven't run or even driven it yet but its a 90 block 306 forged balanced and blue printed with a decent set of flo tech heads that were custom built and an on3 set up that i might switch the turbo for a precision ball bearing and go down a few sizes on injectors i have 60's alot of fuel for being limited on 500 or under at the wheels what maf injector combo u running sct chip/tune?
No they don't. They are weak if you don't properly tune it. And I don't mean locking timing and adjusting fuel. That's not tuning. Im talking about a datalogger and tuning software on a chassis dyno. I have another black GT turbo mustang in another video that's been at this power level for 4 years now. And I drove it pretty much every day as a daily driver and put about 60-80 passes a year on it sense. No issues. 140k mileage untouched shortblock. Proof is in the video. When it finally goes im gonna video the tear down of the motor to prove it.
42's same thing. You cant run anything smaller than a 42 really. You'll run outta fuel as the HP increases. Even at 42 its small. I ended up swapping to 60s later on because my pump was maxing out so i changed pump and inj at same time. STuff i had bought already for previous car.
I have a boss 363 stroker with a custom stainless kit already aka money pit. I have a vid of it here too in NA form. This Block will last just fine. My black GT turbo in my other videos is on year 4 no split. Block wore the turbo out! Im gonna refresh it this winter. Oil starting to drop meaning bearings are probably starting to wear out im sure. No big deal. Still runs 10s. The black GT makes the same HP. Its all in the tune. It wasn't the money or the cheap route I took. I went the route of "why not try that" see what happens combined with a great tuner equals this.
We don't send anyone our tune files. You can bring it here or contact Dave from super coupes unlimited and Kevin from Ti DYNO for all that. My files stay in my laptop
+Derek Recore just cause you say they are good for 500 that's it then it don't make it correct friend. If you know how to tune and already know then you wouldn't be saying blocks are only good to 500. You'd be asking more intelligent questions like "what's total timing " and what fuel mix.
+Derek Recore I'm flattered and appreciate that. It just gets old with people nah saying ya know. You get some people that think I'm doing some sort of ninja trick and not telling anyone lol. Just using the technology provided and know how is all. No tricks.
This guy knows his stuff for real.stock foxs pretty much going 10s with boost..ls1 who?
Yep... redoing a 88 now and cant wait for the on3 on a speed density test..... heheheeeeeeeeeeeeeee wo00ttttttt
ls1 swap that who.. lmao
J A that’s a myth dude! Project stock bottom end is seeing 900 to the wheels in his 302. It’s all about the tune!
Just realized im using my wifes RUclips acount. haha
Sounds like a turd
Yeh...600whp is a turd. Stfu 🤡
Nice numbers with a simple combo!! I agree also save money and get a good tune!
I would actually like to see the same setup with the smaller 67mm turbo tested to see if it light off earlier. I can't see it it hurting peak numbers but you never know.
I believe you said you use Moates Quarter-horse on this car. Are you using mass air and what kind, (blow through? Size?) thanks
Ya at a minimum 255 LPH in tank pump and 42 ford racing green top injectors. I don't like the 47's they aren't flow matched well.
Would luv to do this exact same swap, but with an auto what would be the best stall converter to install that would be appropriate with the turbo?
Now YOU know what your doing! That car is amazing! I would love to have you as my neighbor! I have the same car, I'm waiting to get it painted. I thought I had the engine pretty set until I saw this! You wouldn't happen to live in SW Florida would you?! Awesome car, its bad ass! Hail to the foxbody!
Ron Mullen nope in Ohio
Neomustangs where in Ohio can I get a tune like this? How much does he charge? I'm in Michigan and I been looking around for a person to tune my foxbody
Stock block 1989 302 w trickflow heads O ringed, trickflow R intake, custom cam and HP performance stage 2 kit 630 whp and 610 Tq on 16lb of boost. HP performance is no longer in business unfortunately.
Very nice foxbody.
Nice! crazy numbers for stock block!
How soon are you guys seeing boost with that .68? tuning made with Quarterhorse?
Badass car!
Ty!
Have you ever had to add a second gate. thanks
You need a larger gate. Or a new one. The creep is because the gate isn’t keeping up or the gate is intermittently faulty.
@@Neomustangs Thank you
@@Neomustangs actually I messed up.
I think blow thru the target AFR on carb is something like 12.0 iirc. THe EFI is 11.5 ish give or take. depends on fuel too you know
Hi I’m very curious I should be getting this turbo kit roughly a week or so. Did you get the standard on3 70mm turbo kit like from LMR or you upgraded to the ceramic ball bearing?
hey man what ecu did you use and also what fuel system love the setup
For the price, you cant beat a little maintenance here and there.
how did you go about tuning the stock computer?
He uses moates quarterhorse
Yes
How much more do you think this car would make with ported 3 bar heads, cartech hurricane intake, and f303 cam?
Very little IMHO. the stock bottom end will only flow so much air. ITs not the heads/intake or even the cam.
Oh I'm deff gonna get it tuned just want to get it to run decent I have a CSU carb on it spent $950 on it alone the carb was built to my setup
Does that have the boost power valve in it? I heard about that carb.. aint cheap...
Theres a recipe for sure. Im not cheating with a secret either.
Men awesome car and build, i have a doubt, What ecu are u using?. Need some advices and maybe some info from someone Who knows about it thanks.
Maybe i missed it but are you running an ignition box and aftermarket coil ? Im just assuming a msd ect box is required for boost?
Take it to a DYNO shop let a professional do it
This the same guy tuning this car that like to.build the turbo supercoupes
Yes
@@Neomustangs do he remote tune
I'm curious why this combo made so more more than the 88gt? Did the gt40 heads make that much difference? Other than the higher boost of course.
Yes
@@Neomustangs Interesting, makes me wonder what i'm doing wrong. My combo made what your 88gt but i'm running P heads, TFS stage 1 cam made 380hp, 416tq. AFR's in 11.5-11.8 with 17-18 deg timing, 10lbs boost, blow through. Tested on dynojet dyno. I firgured mine should have broke 400hp. Nice Job I love your content!
Those head cylinder must be super ported
If you got a twin turbo kit from on3 would you have to upgrade the head gasket
90 25th GT car putting on GT40P heads should I run the Explorer intake with the heads or can I run my trick flow Street heat intake I've got both But ??? whichever intake will flow better with the GT40 heads
Well the aftermarket intake will for sure flow better but save your money just run the explorer. It’s not worth spending $700 on an aftermarket intake that give you extra 10
Hp
how many RPMs are you turning. And at 16 PSI are you running pump gas. thanks
What head gaskets are you using?
Felpro 9333pt1
Neomustangs 3.27 or 3.55 gear ratio best for this turbo setup? I was going 3.27 but have a deal on a 3 55.
60s. Ya its a killer setup. Been like that awhile.
Neomustangs thank you! Your videos are awesome to, every time I watch one I’m learning something new and noticing stuff I’ve overlooked.
@@jakejaynes8617 Appreciate it.
Nice Gaines on a stock block
Thx
what year was the ford explorer intake off of? I'm turboing my 1988
Doesn't really matter they are pretty much all the same.
Oh OK sweet did y'all run the turbo off of one header or did you run a crosspipe? I'm trying to figure this thing out ha-ha except mine is going to be in a lifted f150
+yeeyee rmz250 There is a crossover tube that comes from the driver header. Yes the turbo is on the pass header that's where it all meets at is all.
Awesome numbers yet again!!! What TFS valve springs are you running?
2500-100 Valve Springs. Those are drop in for GT40/E7TE heads.
i have a 1995 mustang gt what size injectors should I use and what brand do you recommend
What kind of crank and pistons did you use when you freshened it up? Looking at installing one of these on my car.
Its a stock crank and stock pistons... like the other car
what trans are you running ? i have same setup in my foxbody and i ripped 3rd gear out of my t5
Tremec 3550 10 spline
Just curious how long did the stock block stay together? I’m boosting a stock block as well
A good tune and know how.
Ya that’s conservative but keep in mind that’s also a blower. Totally different animal you know
Neomustangs makes sense to me, I would like a little more power to the wheels though LOL!
dwrdyts no doubt
When you say "stock block" are you reffearing to just the block or the whole short block?
Once again, the whole short block. Cam, pistons, crank everything.... Don't buy into so called "internet experts" that say blocks cant handle the power. They can if they are tuned right. The days of splitting blocks were the days where tuning was adjusting fuel pressure and locking timing. With the tuning tech we have today... that kinda isn't the case anymore.
Yea I agree. Glad you could prove it. How many passes have toy been able to get out of it
This car has seen about 100 passes so far this year.
Neomustangs who tuned this car?
So what was different about this then hot wheels just heads and intake ?
Yes.
So rn I have a 306ci built 5.0.
It's fully forged and as it sits it is at 305whp/300lbft-tq
I have it fully set up for this kit
Proper injectors, fuel system, etc etc...
What can I expect to make with the installation of the on3 kit?
Forged means its only a little stronger. But the factory stuff will last until the block splits anyways. Does it have heads and intake and cam?
Lol I know what forged means I built it man. I was stating that so readers knew it would handle boost well. It has an edlebrock intake and a ford b303 cam.
Oh and gt40 heads.
❤
Damn did it ever blow the 302 up?
No i didnt.
very nice, stock ingition?
The video is awesome I don't know if you have already answered this question or not but outside of buying this kit what else would you say is needed to get the car going. So far I'm thinking Maf for the larger injectors, larger injectors, fuel pump am I missing anything?
Pmass blow thru. 60 lb injectors from a good brand not on3!!!! And I would run like a bosch 044 in tank pump. I have this kit as well.
Thank you for the response
What are you using to tune the car
hey neomustang, do you think gt40p heads and a edelbrock rpm 2 intake would be a good combo for this setup? thanks..
+Isaacs Faasisila Yes, keep in mind its all in the tune. So save money at the end go get it tuned by someone reputable.
+Neomustangs will do thanks!!!
+Neomustangs one more question, when i upgrade my MAF do i buy a bigger MAF housing and tune the stock sensor??
I have a blow thru setup with the msd digital 6al2 box so would I lock out my distributer at 16 degrees or 26 degrees to bring it to wat your running I have the exact build as you just carbureted
You wont put down those numbers not tuning it. You'll blow it up. Simple
What valve springs did you run?
TFS 2500-100
Thanks bro
Will they work on TFS twisted wedge heads or are they meant for stock applications?
@@dustinfraim7267 Stock E7TE heads and GT40. is what they are meant for.
what spark plugs for the 15.5 psi and P heads you using??
TR6. NGK. Gapped at 23
@@Neomustangs im running 103's on 15lbs...any real reason to switch to TR6's??
Nope those work fine too. Ran those forever
What size injectors are u running
what size injectors are good for this much HPower?
What kind of rotating assembly are you running
Its a complete stock block. I refreshed bearings/rings. Factory pistons and cam.
my z will get a turbo upgrade and fuel system. then crack for 500ish hp. my mustang I wanna 351 swap and turbo it
408W swap your Mustang! Get more power!
Derek Recore sounds like a good setup
are you running stock computer?
+Cody Rozell Yes
looks nasty, stock block wont hold up to that kind of power too long though, you're going to need a main girdle on the block or a stronger 4 bolt main block, only a matter of time b4 that thing explodes, great numbers though, sure its a super fun car and thanks for posting your numbers
Seems to have worked very well thus far!
instead of using a ba5000 slot style maf (im not understanding whats needed to do this) can i just use pro-m blow through maf?
Don't see why not.
Neomustangs is this car on the stock ecu? is a chip needed?
Ya stock ECu, definitely need a chip.
306 withSRP flat top pistons and forged rods
Holley heads with o rings (requires wire lock head gaskets)
Systemax Intake
comp cam xe 274 hr cam. Can I safely achieve 500whp with that setup? I can not justify dropping 13k to swap a coyote in it if I can spent 4k-4.5k to do the on3kit and have 500 reliable rwhp. This video has me so excited. I really just can't believe those numbers man wow.
Yes. I do it with NO mods. What you think the answer is to that LOL! I am an on3 dealer so feel free to contact me I can order you a kit.

Like I say, I need help with this purchase because I'm not too good of a mechanic to begin with and I def am unfamiliar with turbos for the most part. But I bought a pretty straight 91 about 6 months ago because I've had a love for these cars since I was little and I have big plans for it. If you could send me a list of what I need and what it would run me it would be a huge help.
Neo, don't forget to email me what I need. I'm looking to order this week. Never got an email from ya. Thanks
how much boost was this at ?
How much boost making 539hp?
15.5
All of it 😉
I've got a 92 5.0 lx that I'm getting ready to start working on.
Even if that means travelling
one of the cleanest fox's I've seen what wheels are those?
Well where are you I'd be glad to have you tune it .
Ashtabula phio
Neomustangs is that the stock suspension on slick times. Could you give me some info on it please.
Not for dyno. Wanting to know suspension setup on the track. Guess I need to do a little work to mine for those low 10's
Looks like building a stroker nowdays is a waste of money if you can do this instead, how much is this total On3 Kit?
Metal Maniac you’ll have bout 3k in it total with pump injectors and tune when all said and done
sounds good, any benefits of having a stoker with over a stock engine with this kit, i may do both unless the power you get is not that different
Metal Maniac stroker will make same power at less boost
may go for best of both worlds then
Sounds Nasty, but that stock block won't last.
HooperWest lasted just fine for years. Eventually they give up.
nasty 😍
Ty
How’s the engine holding up
seth corneal it was fine last I knew
Neomustangs I was thinking on doing that kit on my car but getting it tuned to like around 350 hp
What was your max RPM
is this turbo better suited for a drag application, where you can spool the turbo up, or could it be usable in like a track/cornering build
Man I'm probably not the best person to ask that. This is built for lots of fun on the street and to put down some respectful times at the track. 10 sec street car. As for road racing I am not sure
Preciate it man! It looks like a lot of fun. My dads a big fox body guy, and I'm contemplating getting one. Just checking out all the possibilities!
damn i would love to do this if not scared of stock block stories i have heard.
I'm definitely saving up for the kit now, great price I just looked it up. 1558$
Royce Johnson I have the swap kit on my 351w. It has a airgap intake a demon 750 blow thru. It made 320hp and 520tq on 9#'s of boost. only pulled it to 4700rpm.
What ecu set up are you running if you technically can't tune the stock fox ecu
Stock ecm? If so what tune or chip
*ECU
Chasemanuti stock ecu/sct chip
Brian Langdon
Oh yeah bro. Just if it was me I wouldn't trust the internals. The blocks can hold a little more than the 550 rating as I've been saying but it's really all in the tune & I believe it will always be on borrowed time.
Block still in one piece? You really ran it all out a bunch on the dyno
I have a nitrous plate and regret not going turbo
what computer is in the car
A9L w/ factory harnesses. I don't use aftermarket fuel management. Just SCT 4 bank chip.
@@Neomustangs ok thanks wanting to turbo my 5.0 and didnt know if the stock ecm would work
how many pulls did this last for? lol no offense, looks fucking awesome, but i thought the stock blocks cracked at 450-500?
No they don't. They are weak if you don't properly tune it. And I don't mean locking timing and adjusting fuel. That's not tuning. Im talking about a datalogger and tuning software on a chassis dyno. I have another black GT turbo mustang in another video that's been at this power level for 4 years now. And I drove it pretty much every day as a daily driver and put about 60-80 passes a year on it sense. No issues. 140k mileage untouched shortblock. Proof is in the video. When it finally goes im gonna video the tear down of the motor to prove it.
Foxbody or new edge which one?
You running stock injectors in that
God no... did you even read the description???
Neomustangs unless I'm missing it I don't see anything in the description about it
Neomustangs I just found in the comments on the black car you ran 42# is that what you are running on this car also
42's same thing. You cant run anything smaller than a 42 really. You'll run outta fuel as the HP increases. Even at 42 its small. I ended up swapping to 60s later on because my pump was maxing out so i changed pump and inj at same time. STuff i had bought already for previous car.
Where can I get those 4 lug saleens???
TheCarJunky company doesn’t make them anymore. I have these very wheels on Ebay now
Neomustangs ok can you send me a link? Also what's the company's name?? I wanna dig around and see If I can find any for sale.
what wheels are those?
4 lug saleen wheels. 17"
Neomustangs thank you sir..... where did u guy these?
Craigslist. They were mint.
I run them too
do you have email for some questions?
Nice numbers but that block will not last. Put in a dart and do it right I made the same mistake.
Bro who tunes your car or can you send me your tune file ? I have similar set up well kinda ... Lol
We don't send anyone our tune files. You can bring it here or contact Dave from super coupes unlimited and Kevin from Ti DYNO for all that. My files stay in my laptop
block won't last long lol
Yours probably wouldn't yep. Mine still runs strong years later. Know how to tune and it won't split at 500. Don't comment if you have no idea
+Neomustangs blocks are good for around 500ish whp. I already know a good tune is key.
+Derek Recore just cause you say they are good for 500 that's it then it don't make it correct friend. If you know how to tune and already know then you wouldn't be saying blocks are only good to 500. You'd be asking more intelligent questions like "what's total timing " and what fuel mix.
+Neomustangs just admiring your car hp
+Derek Recore I'm flattered and appreciate that. It just gets old with people nah saying ya know. You get some people that think I'm doing some sort of ninja trick and not telling anyone lol. Just using the technology provided and know how is all. No tricks.
If you dont mind me asking, roughly how much did this setup cost you? I want to do this setup but with a gt40 intake and whatever heads are on it
change my mind it’s a budget minded build with a risk. Too much hp and you start over. A good tune helps a lot for longevity
how many RPMs are you turning. And at 16 PSI are you running pump gas. thanks
6300 is limit. And this was pump gas.
What size injectors are you running
60s siemen deka
I was wondering that also. Pretty important detail to leave out lol.
