Thanks for the flood fill trick. I use 4x4" wood coasters to cut ornaments. I make them in Inkscape and turn it 45 degrees. That puts the hanger hole is in the corner and you can make the real ornament a little bigger.
Thank you very much for your tutorial, I especially appreciate that you include your settings in your tutorial, as I could not figure out the DPI and percentage settings on my laser, but the ones you used worked perfectly on my machine! Thanks lots!
I'm glad I ran across Your Video!! I just bought my Very First laser Engraver/Cutter and have been watching multiple videos on how to use LaserGRBL. I didn't have any idea there were so many more choices to not only design projects but also build Boxes too.. Wow, I can't wait to make something for All of My Family this year!! Thank You for Your Amazing Content and Extra Websites for Design and Building Projects!! Sincerely, J Q 😮😊
Thank you I knew I was missing something! I literally had two programs open at once with the cut file loaded and would just disconnect, switch over after it was done engraving and start it manually! 😂
@@barry8538 you bet! Wish I could send a screen shot through here to show the settings. But here they are, SHARP, BW TURNED ON , VECTORIZE, SMOOTHING 1.0 Check that box on , OPTIMIZE 1.0 check that box on , ADAPTIVE QUALITY check that box on , if you have inside shapes that need cutting first , then click off optimize travel , FILLING - No filling . More recent video #40 really gets into cutting , settings and more fun stuff 😊
good day ,i think i made a change to a setting when loading image ,the final image jst beforr printing is not clear all i see are lines widely spaced but not the loaded image
Try upping your amount of lines per mm on the dialogue box where you choose line to line etc. to get more detail. It’s hard to tell what exactly the issue may be without a photo. Are you a member of the disignscdn subscribers page or LASERGRBL group on Facebook ? I’d suggest making a post with a photo there for any help you may need. I don’t seem to get some notifications of questions asked here 🤔
Yes. Or even any file type but svg. Svg’s are still pretty experimental in LaserGRBL . You aren’t given the option to resize and it only understands it as an outline for cutting . 😊
@@unicornadrian1358 Yes, it can be a pain in the butt. But if you are already playing with a design software, then you can delete it there to export . It is wayyyyy easier 😃 My trick is to make a white bounding box or even design it to the size of my material . I can then centre it and get perfect placement . I’ll duplicate the file , take out what I need to just engrave or cut and export that file. Using the “file append” feature I can engrave and then cut knowing everything will line up perfectly . Video 21 goes over that. 😊
@@disignscdn Thank you very much. I checked out video 21 and went with that idea. It worked great, especially with purchased files. In Inkscape I just ungrouped everything and deleted the engraving parts leaving a cut file that I run separately. I found the append feature set the same laser power level for both operations. I just run the cut file separately.
I was looking for instruction on how to use Laser GRBL to cut when I found your video. It might have been helpful for me if you were not in warp 9. If you want to instruct folks, slow down.
Thanks Charles, I do have a couple videos on cutting, also engraving and cutting with the "append feature" I try to keep my videos short and sweet most times to try to keep them at an average view time. I will tell Scotty to slow down the warp drives. :D
This did NOT work for me. I have the updated version of LaserGRBL v6.2.2 I have followed the instructions exactly and the pieces don't go away when I amend the file. Please, some help me.
Yes, I really need to do an updated tutorial for the more current versions. It is hit and miss with removing pieces and I do find it timely myself. If you want to get a hold of me quicker , I suggest joining the disignscdn subscriber page on Facebook. I tend to see questions faster and the notifications here are sometimes very slow. We can go over the file you are trying to use and hopefully I can help you out with it 😃
You would need a design software firstly to be able to edit what you need cut and where on the material . Any of my cutting videos like the ornaments, earrings, ramp walkers etc. goes over how they need to look before exporting . 😊
It does seem temperamental at times to be able to click on exactly what it is you want to delete. I honestly find it quicker to append the file . I will first open an engraving file and then append it with a cut file . Video 21 shows exactly what I mean by having an engraving file and a cut file . 😊
You are great, we learn a lot from you and enjoy it.

This was what I have been looking for, thank you for showing how to do this in GBRL ❤

I was literally doing the same thing when I first started too! 😆
I love tour tutorials. Thank you so much for taking the time. I have yet to get mt laser, but i feel prepared 😅😊
Thank you! It’s good to find out what you need to know to make sure you get the laser that suits your needs 😃
awesome stuff, thanks for your help.

Thank you for the great video
thanks for the video which has all the information I need to know.

Hey youre greay with laser grbl, can u advise me how to get smooth lines when cutting out, my circles for example have triangle edges, thanks 😊

What file type are you using? When I load an SVG file, I don't get the same options as you. Do I need to use PNG files?

@@disignscdn thank you very much for getting back to me
@@disignscdn Sadly the PNG didn't work either. No matter where I clicked with the flood fill tool, it just turned the whole page one colour.

where did you find 9.4 lasergrbl mine says 6.2 is the up to date
I’m only running 6.2.1 myself. Maybe it was 4.9 as this is an older video 😊

I wish I had the brain like you have
Careful what you wish for.. this brain wakes me up in the middle of the night with ideas..lol
Hello , how can I cut certain letters and areas with a laser ?
You would need a design software firstly to be able to edit what you need cut and where on the material . Any of my cutting videos like the ornaments, earrings, ramp walkers etc.
goes over how they need to look before exporting . 😊
So I tried the GRBL thing, and I was unable to remove any part of the image, can yo explain why that could be?
It does seem temperamental at times to be able to click on exactly what it is you want to delete. I honestly find it quicker to append the file . I will first open an engraving file and then append it with a cut file . Video 21 shows exactly what I mean by having an engraving file and a cut file . 😊
