It's my first tent and I love it. it's well made and it stood solid against the rainy night. thank you Enwild for the discount. please make a setup instruction video. that would be very helpful.
I have an El Cap 3 (replaced an El Cap 2 that I bought 20+ years ago) and can’t see what justifies the significantly higher price on this new series. That said, the el caps are amazing tents, though heavier than others.
It’s a 3 season tent, once you get into freezing temps, the mesh on this tent offers no insulation. Also you mentioned snow and the frames and fly aren’t really specked for that. Now, I never winter camped in snow and sub freezing weather but have researched a bit. A 3 season tent is more for summer to 4c. A 4 season tent is what you want for winter camping. Keep in mind that isn’t a tent for 4 seasons but for the 4th season. Ie. Winter. Now I’m sure people have slept in 3 season tents in the winter with the proper sleep system but there again, your purchasing cold weather gear, so you may as well get the proper tent. Unless your car camping too much can go wrong. Heavy snow snaps your pole because the tent wasn’t designed for it. This El Captain tent looks like an awesome tent. It’s why I tuned in. I just wouldn’t use it for sub freezing snowy conditions. I’d be curious if anyone has. You really need 2 tents for year round camping. Blessings
To be quite honest I was in by scouts almost my entire life and we used the older model of these tents. We mostly camped in the prairies during winter, high winds and heavy snow and usually -20. They did nothing but keep us warm and dry. But yes a good sleeping pad and sleeping bag will make the difference. No need to fork put the extra 2-300 dollars for a 4 season.
Looks like a quality tent made with durable materials and a good sale with the 2 persons tent being under $200.

Excellent video. However, I mostly car-camp these days and I'm shopping for 6-8p sized tents. :)
Bought an El Cap 2 (not outfitter model) earlier this year and have survived 2 thunderstorms on 3 trips so far. Dry as a bone.

👌👌👌
Would you camp in it at 0 to -15c with snow during winter
No
