    That is a nice looking tent. Probably a bit heavy, but, if you are using it for kayak camp, no issues there. I like the design. New follower here. Crow

      Hi Crow,
      I do have a lighter tent as well. I like this one for canoe trips where are there are little to no portages. And I like it for colder weather camping as it retains the heat much better than a typical 3 season tent that has so much mesh instead of solid walls. With this tent, the zip in panels make it downright comfortable in below freezing temperatures.
      Thanks for subscribing. I' am checking out your channel now as well.

    Looks like a well made tent. Not a bad price. Looks big for a 2 man too. A bit heavy though at 4 kg, but you're paddling it not carrying it.
    Hop a bit further south later on. The water here stays in liquid form when you're skating on yours.

      @JoeOsChannel  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, it is roomy for a 2 person tent. A bit of weight too but that is to be expected when you go 4 season and a bit more heavy duty.
      Great for canoeing for sure. I'll also use it for some bicycle touring during the colder months(lightweight tents for bike touring in the warm months of course).
      Overall, I think this tent will be an excellent addition to my gear room.

    I like the look and design but it's kinda big and heavy.
    I'm a backpacker so that could be an issue .
    I need something small and light weight.
    Great video though!
    Thank you!

      I have lighter, more compact tents for most trips. This one was purchased for colder weather trips with a canoe or sea kayak and without portages.

      @@JoeOsChannel Yeah, I'm a walker, biker, portage guy.
      I'm 45 years. Limiting Weight has become my top priority.
      I don't even use a tent and just cowboy camp most of the time.
      Unfortunately I can't always do this especially in certain locations at certain times of the year. The bugs are just too bad where I live.
      I'm just gonna have to drop a few hundred on a 2lb light weight tent.
      You get what you pay for I guess.

    I have a question for you: Does the fly just lay on the (center) ridge pole? Or are there little pockets built into the fly that the ridge pole slide into and connect them? I know for a fact that the instructions are identical (i.e. indeterminate) on all of them but the 3+ and 4+ El Caps have the pole connected to the fly but on my 2+, the fly isn't directly attached.

  • @jbteecha785
    @jbteecha785 Год назад

    Joe, is your ridge pole bent at an angle? I have the El Cap 3 and the ridge pole does not run straight down the center seam. Did you also put the ends of your ridge pole into the little pockets? It seems unusually tight of a fit and causes ripples in tent ridge. Thanks, JB

    Does this tent have enough ventilation for hot weather/climates?

    • @JoeOsChannel
      @JoeOsChannel  4 месяца назад

      Yes, their are multiple mesh panels. They have fabric panels that can be zipped closed or left open to allow for mesh ventilation. A very versatile tent. I love mine.
