Four generations of VoicePlay baritones were on set that day. Layne, their first baritone before becoming the beatboxer, and Tony, J and Cesar. ❤❤
I love the little yelp Eli gives when J starts shouting at him.
the BTs for this was so cute it was the first time J came back from leave in the navy and everyone was so happy to see him. Cesar looks,like a baby in this compared to now and both Geoff and Layne had to help Cesar tie his tie! Of course it seems that J was made for this,part! ❤🏴
The electronic bass noise was Geoff with a post production filter. Layne was doing the record scratches over top.

This is my favorite Disney they've done, with the possible exception of Geoff as Ursula and Layne as the French chef in Little Mermaid. I LOVE Geoff and Layne going off the rails at the end. You forget it's voice and not a bank of sub woofers and a drum kit. I actually had to get new headphones after this one. Eli and Cesar were fantastic at holding the middle ground with amazing harmonies. This song was tailor made for J None. Not only did it showcase his incredible range it also captured a lot of his personality. VoicePlay IS Disney and it's my dream that they get to do an entire soundtrack for one of their animated movies. They all worked at the parks when they were younger, and they've been invited to sing live there and on one of their cruise ships.
VoicePlay are the theater kids of modern a cappella, and this video proves that ❤ and VoicePlay should definitely collaborate with Disney and make a movie - I want to watch that 😍
Speaking of wicked, VoicePlay did a Wicked Medley that I highly recommend you to watch.
Again I recommend Voiceplay's "Just Sing" with the subtitles on it tells you all members of Voiceplay and what video they were in to

I love their theatrical videos. And yes, I absolutely do not understand why they receive much less love and support than they deserve.
They're only bad at one thing: almost every time they try to make Geoff scary and creepy, he only gets hotter. But no one is against :)

As others say this was the first time J. None returned after leaving for the navy. And who else could have done it? I mean, really. And that was Geoff I believe in the first "echo". It's my impression that Geoff is also doing that "dum dum dum" near the end. It's usually him with the deep "dum dum" beats as in Seven Nation Army. VoicePlay always go above and beyond. The collection of talent those guys possess is just incredible.
Oh, you are going to enjoy You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch so, so much!! I'd say it's almost as theatrical as this one, although tonally quite different, and their makeup is so good you'll think they walked off the set of the Jim Carrey film.
You said that ending was wicked, which reminded me that you haven't reacted to their Wicked Medley.... Get on it!

These guys are all wicked smart not only with Master and Bachelor Degrees , but their abilities to take something, see how it can be changed/improved and share it with the world over and over again 💝

When this first came out everyone was so thrilled to see J come back. We had heard a small bit of this cover previously in their ACA 10 Disney Villains, but we’re still knocked for a loop with this real cover. Not only was everyone perfect at their parts but the Geoff Layne rhythm section in the 2nd half was just wild to hear.
And that electronic buzz in the baseline is really Geoff putting a bit of nasal drone hum in his Dmms - kind of like we just heard again in Seven Nation Army.
And just HOW does Layne look so right with that bone in his nose? You would think that would hamper his beats!
Villians Lair series is great, but Pattycake have a lot of stand-alone videos that you might like. My favorite 3 are:
Bump In The Night - an original song and includes a Thriller-type dance number. Filmed during the pandemic, it’s a large cast of all your horror movie favorites (including Elvira!). You might want to save it for closer to Halloween.
Born Bad - another original song by Tony and Layne; it’s the song that should have been in the newest Cruella movie but wasn’t. Really showcases Tony’s hand made costumes. (And when the line says ‘painted mask’ they meant it - all done by a makeup artist including gluing feathers and over 100 rhinestones to the actress’ face. )
Will.of.Oz - this is one of their older Unexpected Musicals, where they used one artist’s songs to tell a children’s tale. Here it’s Black-Eyed Peas telling the Wizard of Oz story. (And you’ll see a number of faces you’ll recognize turn up. They always give complete credits, so you can check to see if you missed anyone.)

Naw, they can do that deep noise legit. Both Geoff and Layne can. It’s an inhaled bess note technique beat boxers use.
Caesar would be amazing on Broadway! You can tell he loves the theatrics they do in so many of their recent videos! 😅
JNone could have been the villain in the movie! Love, love, love his vocals on this song. He sells it! Love the opt up at the end--gorgeous! This one is in my top 5 for VP. I'm 1000% on board with a Hollywood budget for VoicePlay. Could you even imagine?!
Sometimes it's the combination of Layne's beatboxing and Geoff's low bass together that creates a kind of weird electronic effect (PTX's Kevin and Avi often achieved a similar effect together - their Daft Punk Medley and their own song 'Love Again' are great examples of that.)
Great reaction! I totally agree with what you said at the end. A VoicePlay movie musical with Geoff as the villain needs to happen!
A few things....the original voice actor/singer in the Disney animation was Keith David......voice of Dr. Facilier, Spawn, Goliath...of the Gargoyle fame......the deep sound was Geoff, I think, if you hum, as you do the deep notes, you get that sound. When J. None sings voodoo, hoodoo, on 'Hoodoo', the upside down chicken he is holding is "Hei Hei" from Moana.........>^^

I always put this one on my list when new reactors are asking what should I do next. This is a mini-movie and exquisitely performed. Glad J None made it back for this because I can't imagine anyone else doing this. And yes, I would love to see VoicePlay do a full movie. This set was the one Geoff used doing Way Down.

I've never seen Princess and The Frog but I love this.
What a fun reaction! This was not one of my favorite songs from the movie but they did such a great job with it that I’ve changed my mind.
This was filmed when J came home for his first leave. It’s a good thing it was done so early because Cesar’s got all those chin whiskers now and it wouldn’t look the same. In this when he looks so sweet and innocent. Obviously appearances are deceiving. 🤭
I love when they get to act things out. I love all of their videos, but the ones like this were they really get to show their acting chops are among my favorites. J was amazing as Dr. Facilier, but Eli really stole the show for me. It’s subtle but it’s so on point with the character.
When you rewatch, look at what J has in his hands during “I’ve got voodoo, I’ve got hoodoo.” The sacrificial chicken in his hands is HeiHei from Moana ! 🤣🐔🤣
They have used this set quite a bit, most recently in” Christmas Don’t be Late”. Geoff used it in his”Way Down” and I think he also used it in Till Then but the lighting made the curtain look blue.
The casting is perfect on this one. It’s the first time we got to see Eli with his new fancy dapper beard. I’m really glad he decided to keep it.
Pattycake is definitely getting their money's worth with this set piece! Yes, Geoff used these curtains again in Till Then with cool lighting.

It looks like they almost took DJ to the other side! Listening to the way Cesar, J None, and Eli's voices meld together, the way Geoff and Layne combine for that bass line... they can take me to the other side too. LOL
