Agreed. Their argument would be that they consider this a non-serviceable item but that's ridiculous for a red that gets worked hard off-road or when towing.
G'Day mate good vid. But you should get a Thermal Cooler Bypass Valve from Wholesale automatic transmissions in Melbourne they cost about $38.00 and work very well. Cheers Rory
Hey, cheers. I did buy one but decided against installing it. I like the oil to get up to operating temperature and then maintain itself. Also I don't tow so I'm not looking for every ounce of cooking available, just to cap the top end temps at a good level.
I don't think you will successfully capture it all, it continues to drip for a while. It's also worth checking that it is at the right level in case it was already low when you dropped it. Or if someone has overfilled it in the past and you put the same in again then it remains overfilled for example.
Can't say I noticed much difference to be honest. I did this early on in the ownership of the car so it's not like I had a lot of experience of how it was shifting before. Have you made the change and noticed it shifted differently?
@TheBrowneTown from new my ranger hasn't shifted nice. It flares revs and slips. Been told its normal by dealer... I'd hunts gears and down shifts when coasting put foot down and its laggy. I drove a 6 speed mustang an the box shifted perfectly in comparison.
Ok, mine doesn't hunt through the gears but it's definitely laggy, pain in the ass trying to get on the throttle to get through roundabouts for example. I've had a tune since and it's a bit better now.
Yes even better. I could be wrong but I believe there might be aftermarket pans with sumps. If I had a sump I'd still not be changing it too often, maybe every 100k
best auto trans service video I've seen on RUclips .. clear and well presented
Thanks mate.
Great idea ford mazda having the dip stick under the vehicle near the exhaust.Henry Ford must be proud.

Saves Ford 5 cents =costs customer at maintenance time . Think about its all about themselves clearly the customer is 2nd in priority.
By far the most detailed and best video out there on the transmission oil change. Thanks for the hard work you’ve put into the video!
Glad it helped
Hey, I really appreciate all your bt50/ranger videos. It's helped me a ton.
Glad to help 👍
Awesome video, exactly what I was looking for to service mine. Should have a lot more views!!!! Thanks so much!!
No worries, it's not a fun job that's for sure.
G'Day mate

how about flushing it through the return hose of the transmission so that the atf of the torque convert can be replace by a new atf ?
can you measure the oil removed and just replace the same amount ?

Mate did you notice better shifting with less flare using the penriteATF merocon LV oil.?

Just don't buy stupid mall crawlers
Farking stupid design.
Be nice if it had a sump plug.
@@TheBrowneTown and a proper dipstick and place to fill accessible under the bonnet.
