I have a pod Xt live
But your USING a spider III 🤷???? How can it not be compatible???,🙄
Incredibly confusing way line 6 have written that 😕
*FBV MOD*
Removing the 2 little rubber stoppers under the pedal makes engaging the toe switch a whole lot easier! I then put those rubber bumpers under the unit to give it more of a tilt 🤙🏼
Just got mine in the mail. Havent messed with the manual yet.
Thanks, great tutorial.
Thanks for all the views and comments guys.
To think I just made a quick and fairly shit video just to demonstrate!! Haha.
Im no good guitar player, but I like trying to help where I can, and enjoy the community spirit!
Just ordered this pedal today with some a guitar center bucks, basically free. Thanks for the tutorial! Can't wait to get it.
ritchie1475 Cheers mate appreciate it! Yeah its good for what it does!
Thanks. I was trying to decide whether to go for the express of the shortboard for my Spider IV 150, and I think for the money, this is all the pedal I need.
I have the spider IV 75 this FBV foot pedal works great with it- very good demo man ~Thanks~
I don't know why I didn't buy this years ago. Thanks for the video, man. You've answered all of my questions.
Good Explanation, sans BS typical of You Tube Videos! I also liked your upgrade knowledge between Spider III and IV, and the short and long board differences. Helped me a lot, as it's worth 65 US dollars and I don't need the long board and the extra cost! Thanks!
Luvd0g no worries buddy, glad I could help
I just bought a Line 6 IV 75w and pedals yesterday! Exactly the same, and my new Epiphone DOT arrived today. I am dead keen to jam with it. I haven't attacked the pedals yet, but your tutorial helps! I've been playing for 40 years, I'm 51, female, and heavy metal, rock, blues, middle of the road, punk kinda Aussie girl, lol. Vocals & Bass as well. I am happy so far with my new rig, another one to my collection :) Cheers~!
Hey :) thanks! Keep on rockin. Glad the vid helped. Nice that the videos I do are useful as im not a pro or a company, Im just a broke dude from England on a serious budget but hell, I have fun with what I've got!!
Getaylorable hi I'm 47 been playing since I was 14 . I'm into rock, heavy metal, blues etc. It makes me happy to see a woman who plays the same thing and not only that but play the guitar in general!!!!! It's a beautiful thing!!!!!
Great thanks. I've had this same pedal for almost year and still never knew how to turn on the wah : ) now i do !
Cheers bud :) glad it helped!
thank you i now understand how this pedal works
Want to thank you! I couldnt figure out that you MUST use 1 bank for the 4 presets per bank...so happy!
BRUCE KATZ no worries dude! It was kinda hard to explain lol. Think on the shortboard/floorboard (the next model up) you can cycle through the banks as well as the 4 channels in each bank!
Hey thank you I have a line6 amp about 5 years old I like 👍 the foot pedal.
I have a line 6 spider IV and the pedal cam with love this combo
I just got one of these so thank you!
Thank you for the video!
I use the spider 3 150 watt half stack with this pedal for gigs, works great. It does everything I need and i dont need a huge board of pedals..this pedal and maybe add a loop and if u tweak the amp enough u can get a great sound for the $$$
Hy, can you explain how to use the loop fonction ?
I've been going back and forth between the short board and the FBV Express. I have a line 6 spider 4 75 watt. Do you know if this pedal can take advantage of the looper in the newer amps?
when i have my pedal set on the d setting, it is automatically on wah. does anyone know why/ how to fix?
does engaging the wah mode change the tone when you're not using the expression pedal?
I have a spider 2 and the tuner and volume don’t work on my pedal. Is it not compatible with the amp or something ?
will this work with my that Line 6 Spider IV 150 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp
Can this be used as a midi controller only for Guitar Rig, etc?
Do you know if it work with bass amps? Such as the low down?
Nice review! Can this be used with a Spider IV 30 W?
Why wont the volume control and tuner work with the spider ll 30
hey man I hav the same amp n fbv but my footswitch is giving me problems
Hey bloak, did I spell that right? Nice demonstration. I only want to use is a a wha and channel selector, all that other shit I do can without. I just got a spider IV 150 amp, a couple of years old plus a Marshall JCM600 tube amp by trading in my EVH 5150 combo amp. I think i made out pretty good, any opinions? thanks
My footswitch, press change channel and there will be a delay. does not change immediately You have to lift your feet first. it will change Do you have any way to fix this problem? The language used may be confused because I use google to help me translate. I can't communicate in English.
Is there any pedal switch compatible with an line 6 Spider amp??
I just want a pedal switch, but I don't want to spend 40€ for a pedal that basic ( fbv2)..there are cheapers but I don't know if it works.. Thank you!!😄
Is it gonna work with line 6 UX2?
Does this work with spider v 30 mkii amp?
im thinking about buying one had there been any issues?
I would like to know how to set up the different 4 foot switches. how to set them to a specific sound.
yes, me too
@@castejontherandoms979 you have to create them yourself in one of the 4 userbanks
@@richardkempster1766 yes this , on the amp itself then set your new presets to channel a,b,c, or d
Awesome thks for the video..now ill buy it found one for 100$..im in canada...what are your preset sounds on the amp sounds good
I have a small CLASSIC 15 Says To Add This Pedal So I Bought One Used ToDay....I may start learning all the midi stuff I see so I will need a better Line 6 amp Soon ...lol.
It works on line 6 spider 2?
does it work on line 6 15w amp pls respond
Can i use it with digital piano?
Does this interfaces with Guitar Rig ?
can you use this on a 15 watt?
does it work with logic pro x?
Can’t get any sound out of mine when I plug in the pedal
What do you think about the spider Line 6 HD 150 that you know thank you Sergeant Velez usmc
Jose Velez Hey man.
Its ok but there are better modelling amps out there now.
I’d go for the Boss Katana, which starts at 50 watts for around £180 here in the UK,
But you can also get it in a 100watt version with 1 x 12” speaker, or a 100 watt with 2 x 12” speakers.
They do a head version as well!
For the price the Katana amps really are hard to beat.
Marshall Code amps are also pretty decent!
What is the purpose of the Line 6 FBV Control software? I run the program and I loose all function on the Pedal. It has a bunch of set ups for Midi, but I can't figure out how it benefits me?
Hey bud. I have no idea to be totally honest! Though I've heard other people get as confused with it too!
I saw the Midi stuff as well but I never went down the Midi control/programming route.
Sorry man!
Can you switch with it from clean to distortion? For example if I have set clean with delay and then next just distortion can I switch them?
Yes
Is that a red fernandes on the wall ? Looks just like mine !
Thanks
so u can't use this unit with the pc with guitar rig
I cant use wah I dont know why and how
Hey, anyone know if I can use a fbv express that is not a mkll with my spider IV 75?
Hey bud! i don't know for sure, I presume you mean the mk1 version?
Check the line 6 website though as maybe it will have a list of compatible pedals for your amp, or a list of compatible amps under the footswitches! Hope you find out dude!
What means "compjua" ?
nice
Can you still access the loop mode with a spider iv 15?
no
I have a spider valve HD 100 Bogner. The pedal does not automatically turn on when plugged in nor can I get it to. (Original cable) Do you think it's because I possibly need new tubes, or something else?
Check the line 6 website, make sure the pedal is compatible with your amp. If it is, I can only imagine its an amp/pedal fault!
Ramon Gonzalez Hope you've had some luck but this pedal is only compatible with the mkii model of the Spider Valve series
Does the tuner Display Show you any note you want to tune or just Standard E Tuning? Because on the Spider IV 15watt you can only tune e a d g b e...
Georg Kuen hey man. On the iii series I could tune to anything. It simply displays the note its hearing/seeing. But I think the pedal just accesses the built in tuner in the amp its connected to so if your amp can only do standard e tuning then maybe thats all it would show.
I have a blackstar id core amp thats similar, theres just 6 leds, one for each string and they just turn green when youre in tune, so i presume its preset to standard e concert pitch or whatever it is!
Alright dude, thanks a lot :)
THANKS ... Know I know how to change to wah
r u using the cable tht came with the fbv or did u buy it seperate?
Using the one that came with. I believe its a standard rj45 ethernet by the looks of it though but I havnt tried another one!
Hi thank u for sharing this ! I have a question ! Will it work with my old Spider II ? ^^
Thanks mate! Well, going by this info on line 6's website (line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58) it says that the fbv express mkii is compatible with the spider ii, but NOT with the spider ii 15watt..
So if your spider ii is above 15watts you should be fine :)
i know this is old but in case anyone else was wondering, it won't work at all on a spider II 15 (or a spider III 15), it will work on the spider II 30 to switch presets but the tuner doesn't work on as it uses the built in tuner on the amp, it doesn't have a circuit of it's own also the wah works but the vol doesn't no idea why that is but that's how it is on mine
Can you set effects on the switches or does it just flip though them?
would this work with line 6 pod 2.0?
Yes if the ethernet socket on your pod says Fbv
Is this FBV pedal suitable for Line6 Spider Classic 15?
That's exactly what I have and can't seem to figure out.
No... listed on Line 6 website
Great vid. Will that pedal work on a Line 6 150 watt amp? And will the pedal save the effects you set in it from the amp?
Sorry for the late reply. Um, no reason it shouldnt work with a 150watt, I know it does with the spider iii series 150 watt!
The footswitch would just switch between channels etc, but if your line 6 amp can have user presets, like on this spider iii 75, you can save loads of different tones with the built in effects. So as its a 4 channel amp, You could say set channel A for clean, channel B to clean with chorus, channel C for distorted and channel D for distortion with reverb. The footswitch the just switches between those four channels provided you saved them all on the amp!
You also have banks, banks are a new set of 4 channels. Cant remember how many banks in total you can save but its loads ha! This pedal cannot switch between banks, but its next model up the 'floorboard' can. Hope that makes sense!
captainslaveman sweet, thank you for your help, I did not know all that, hope u do more vids, thanks
How do you change banks?
Cant with this pedal I'm afraid. Thats its drawback. The line 6 floorboard however can. But its much more expensive.
how do i get the wah wah to work , do i have to download something from the computer to the device , i'm stuck
Hey bud. Just press the big far right pedal down at the top. It will switch from volume to wah
@@Skunkwerx that didnt work for me I dont get it
I miss those wee pouches of golden Virginia 😭
p nesshead haha I know man!! The good old days of 12.5 green bags eh
Does it work with Line6 Spider 15 Classic? Please, reply. Thank you.
Blah Blah Hey, I dont think it works with the 15’s
Well...shit :(
Does this work on other amps? Like Fender or Orange amps?
This is what I'm wondering as well! I have a line 6 pod....so was wondering if this pedal would connect to the Pod using the RJ45, and have the pod connect to a 'normal' amp via a regular jack connection! AFAIK the Pod has the ability to change 4 different channels on each bank.
You still using this still any new stuff or did u go fro the short board I’m thinking of getting one thanks
carl crathorne hey man. No I switched it all up and got a Boss Katana for home use!
captainslaveman cool you got a vid on that enjoyed the vid
Thanks man! I havent yet, but I'm planning on getting more vids up soon!
So it's says compatible spider v. Is that any of them 30,75,120??
Shane Wilson I think so but check the user manual online to be sure!
From what I remember only the spider 15 amps couldnt take a footswitch though
captainslaveman I tried to look up the specs on the 30w spider but couldn't see anything about how many channels it had. Unless I overlooked it.
I have a Spider IV 30. Will that pedal work with it?
Yes that's the setup I practice on
Can I use the Looper with the spider iv 30?
No
Do you reckon you could replicate the sound out of stranded by Gojira
Wah pedal just doesn't do anything
Needs wammy
Hey bud. You would need something like the digitech whammy pedal for the pitch shifting in that song. Sounds like they're using a phaser in certain parts too.
I actually just covered it, not quite right but theres a setting in podxt called "bender" which replicates the whammy
How do you access the looper on here? Also how do you access the pitch shifter and smart harmony?
download the complete pdf manual from line6 friend, why ask here?
i'm not sure! Neither of those features work on my amp. I believe newer spider amps have the looper function, which this pedal controls. But as far as I know the pedal itself does not have any looper or pitch shifting built in, it merely activates those features on line 6 amps that have loopers built in etc. I think.
I just use it as a basic channel selector/master volume and occasionally the wah!
I looked up the Spider IV 75 manual. To loop, you need to press 2 buttons at once (A&B or C&D). One of them lights up and that controls the looping. Just spent 2 hours trying to find it out LOL. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.
line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593324451e/application/pdf/Spider%20IV%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf
I have the spider iv 75 , And unfortunately you can’t use this pedal during a live performance. It takes almost a full quarter second when you’re switching between effects, so the sound cuts out QUITE noticeably for a moment, Essentially rendering this pedal useless with that amp.
I believe this is because that amp only has one processor so it has to cut out for a moment in order to switch
Does it do the same when switching channels or just effects?
@@metalboy921just effects. It’s still an amazingly cool amp and pedal, very fun, just not kosher for live shows if you’re going to change effects during a song, which of course, you’d probably want to lol.
Regular Slinky :)
Good sound at 7:41
Cool ! But what guitar you use ?
Oh gawd now you're asking!! Haha Ermmm, I believe it was a white esp ltd ex-50 explorer at the time! Hetfield style on a budget!
I SEE, BUT HAVE YOU IDEEA ABOUT A PEDAL FOR SUSTAIN ??
+James Hetfield well, I'm not very experienced in pedals but i know a compressor or compression/sustainer pedal can be used for added sustain. Check out the boss compression sustainer for a basic idea!
Ok, but I sow that one Boss procesor has sustain but i dont know exacly how is it !
I think your guitar you use in this video is Epiphone Les Paul Standard, right ??
9:30 what song????
Евгений Морозов thanks for watching man! Um, that was just something I made up at the time, think I was just playing open chords to be honest!
+captainslaveman tab pleeease...?!
New ones do not come with a USB cable... frankly the Express should come with the amp for an additional $50 and include the CatV and USB. Having a feature like downloading tones only be available to people who buy TWO separate pieces of equipment seems like a money grab over a feature.
Thomas Godwin ah thats annoying!
Yeh for me I just bought this used and have no need for a usb update as the spider iii cant be updated by the end user, but i know the mk4 amps can.
Hehe spiders ey. Who would have em :p
captainslaveman Yeah. I bought mine through Guitar Center despite my dislike of their customer service practices and lack of care for the equipment that's there. It definitely works for my needs - jamming in my bedroom/in a garage but it's definitely never gigging with me.
When I bought it they ran through all the features and I thought "Hey, cool" and, it is my fault, but I assumed it would work out of the box as advertised... and then I learned I needed the pedal to download custom tones (great for covers), got the pedal and learned I needed to buy the USB cable (I didn't have to buy it, had one, but still...).
Do you continue down the road of owning Spider amps or did you move on?
Thomas Godwin i feel ya man, seems like its typical these days of all sorts of products coming without leads or accessories which you would think they should include really! Considering the prices dont go down as well! Haha.
Yeah man I still have the spider iii. Was my first amp some 9-10 years ago and literally only ever gets used in the bedroom at low-ish volumes.
I do need to start saving some cash though, ideally I'd go for the peavey 6505mh with a 2x12 cab, or something similar that does great valve metal tones but can be attenuated down to 1 (or less) watts for use at home.
Paper thin walls around here and old neighbours though so lol!
Id love a better rig but atleast for now the spider does the job considering im not that great a player, and at least I can mess about with all the effects and footswitchable channels etc.
Gonna have to get to a few shops and play some valve amps, see if I can get good enough metal/rock tones at low enough volume to warrant me spending the cash on it.
Personally I think the spiders sound alright, theres a lot of hate for em, and true enough a better amp will sound a lot better, but jeez, I fuck up so many times when I play I could make anything sound shite! Haha
captainslaveman Yeah I just upgraded from a Spider II to a Spider IV. I know the V is coming out soon but that's why I shot for the IV. Lower price and all. I have no idea what I want to upgrade to when I start gigging again but I'll get there at some point.
The amp gets a lot of hate but it's honestly not something that I think is marketed to anything beyond practice, fair tone, and some demo recording at best.
Best of luck to you man.
Thomas Godwin cheers dude same to you! I've gotta say I'm also tempted by the boss katana amps for something small an portable for taking to lessons. They seem cool.
He speaks like a pal from Rio de Janiero!..
i hhave a cataylas 200 watt line amp
The wah pedal is trash huh. Mine doesn’t rlly do much either
Can you loop with that??
Jeed not on this particular amp. From memory I ‘think’ you can control a compatible line 6 amps looper function with it, but I could be wrong there...
The pedal itself doesnt have anything built in except the wah, the rest of it just controls features already on your amp. So if your amp has an inbuilt looper, you may be able to control it via this footswitch, but I honestly can’t remember!
captainslaveman thanks for the reply
do you even clean?
Ver Zijl I did once.. think it was a Wednesday...
haha head like a f***ing orange, great video
metallica really is the definition of metal guitar for dudes over seas. all of them always play metallica during their demos.
Haha true! I always bear this comment in mind and try learning other artists riffs! Thanks for watching dude.
Nice bat! lol
Amplifi 150
G
Sorry I stopped watching when I saw you didn't cut the ends of your strings off your guitar. IDK how you can stand the sound that reverberates back from those things dangling around.
Talking to much.!
Get to the POINT Mate!!! Less talking More doing :|
Totally ruined a good video playing a Metallica tune
So true. Especially that one in particular.
will this work with my that Line 6 Spider IV 150 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp
Should work, i have spider IV 120 watt, just ordered FBV Express mkii from american music supply.
