The original #ToyotaVenza was a midsize SUV designed to slot between the RAV4 and Highlander from 2009-2015. After a nearly 6 year absence, the #Venza is back but returns as only a #VenzaHybrid for 2021. Borrowing the same powertrain from the #RAV4Hybrid, the all-new #ToyotaVenzaHybrid offers up to 40 MPG combined and an interior that would make you question the need to buy a Lexus. Авто/Мото
Happy Monday everyone! Just a reminder about the embargo on driving impressions and pricing until 7/22 at 7am EST. This video is part 1 of our Venza review, come back then to watch part 2. Let us know what you think about the new Venza below!
Those are some tiny turn signals in the rear. Shouldn't be placed that low in the bottom bumper either. Pretty impressive car overall though.
Looks pretty sweet
Do you have a first look video for the RAV4 Prime, Sofyan, or are you just waiting for the embargo to drop?
As a current Venza own, I am disappointed to hear that it is smaller. I was looking forward to upgrading this year but I may look elsewhere now.
This is the best value SUV on the market, also Made in Japan. Looks like the Toyota version of the RX 450h. Whats the difference?
I miss the low and wide stance, it was pretty unique. Now, it just looks like every other crossover out there.
I love that it doesn’t have “crossover cladding” around the wheels, its really sleek and luxurious looking. Mazda could learn a bit from this.
Toyota Harrier rebaged, but the Harrier panoramic roof opens though. We get them in Jamaica.
Sofyan is always so detailed. Can't believe he didn't even mention one of the Venza's most striking features: the sleek tail lights!
Congratulations on getting your hands on the new Harrier, I mean venza!
yazkaz idk I think the Venza name sound kinda sleek like this car is in contrast to names like “highlander” and “rav4”
It nice cars
You have harrier we have lexus rx
Isnt this the Toyota version of the RX?
The trend of putting turn signals on the rear bumper needs to stop
Definitely
I almost hit a stupid Hyundai with a bumper turn signal as I didn’t see them blink.
I agree
We especially dont need those bumper signals in places with reckless drivers like California.
I’ve almost hit like 10 Santa Fes
I live in Japan and I see these Harriers everywhere. It made me wonder why they didn’t bring them to the US, now I’m glad they did.
As always, perfectly filmed, mounted and voiced. Great channel with decent stuff!
Hey thank you Sofyan for releasing the content as soon as it's available. I understand other RUclipsrs could choose to wait until the embargo is over to release 1 full video including the driving impression, however, I prefer your approach 100%. I think it's amazing to have the opportunity to get the content super early like that!!!
That crystal blue speckled flakes just looks marvelous!
Your reviews are always the best! Keep doing what you’re doing.
Always happy to see the classic Redline Door Thunk Test
Great review! This is a very nice vehicle, but I too am disappointed with the size and lack of physical controls. Looking forward to your drive review.
Congratulations 🎊 you did it first!
Another great video. Nice to see you out and about. Hope you and the hubby are safe and well
I’m so happy they brought this back. I had a 2013 Venza , I can’t wait to get one
I like the regular shifter but wish they had knobs for stereo and climate control.
Big fail by Toyota not to mention less safe with eyes off the road more.
James No. You can use steering wheel controls without looking away from the road.
I also prefer knobs for stereo & climate control BUT I much prefer button shifter like Honda has (once you get used to it you won't want to go back to a manual shifter).
Agreed. I like a conventional shifter, but don't like those pressure touch panels. They feel cheap and are bound to break, forcing a costly repair of the entire touchpad. I experienced them in the Honda HR-V, and let me tell you, no thanks.
They’ll for sure add them before it goes on sale or the next model year
I appreciate that they took the styling cues from the 2021 Toyota Mirai, which is a beautiful design.
Must say that I was totally geeked when I saw the thumbnail for this video when I opened the RUclips app! Can’t wait for the full review of the Venza. I always like to see what you and Alex on Autos have to say. I was leaning towards a Q3, but wasn’t 100% sold (lacks memory seats, poor gas mileage, etc.). I’m glad to see that the Venza has memory seats. While I don’t love the looks of the media console, I like the overall look of the vehicle.
We had a 2009 Venza Limited. It was an incredible car!
Toyota is really slacking on Lexus, I feel like they are doing this on purpose to increase Toyota sales. Hope in the next 2 years they start really focusing on updating the Lexus vehicles
The taillights look kinda like a Jaguar F Pace
I love that metallic paint is making a come back. The only paint job a car should have.
EXCELLENT video Sir. I agree about black interiors, a nightmare to keep clean in dusty conditions and not sporty like the caramel color you discussed. I'm definitely interested!
Looks way nicer than my old 2018 Mercedes GLC in every single way. This is truly a Japanese quality vehicle which will run forever trouble free.
LOVE the looks of this car inside and out. Wish the Rav4 looked like this.
This is the best looking Toyota Anything I've seen it some time. No weird body contours, no floating roof, no aggressive looking front end, just smooth flowing lines, complemented by a contemporary interior without a lot of swoopy "hey, look at me" lines. If it's performance matches it's appearance, I'm in!
I like how you said design language, as it does look very unique for being in the middle!
The Venza has always been my favorite looking SUV from Toyota I just wished that they offered a V6.
Yeah it's too bad. The old Venza offered a V6. I don't get why Toyota didn't put it in this, seeing as they offer it for the Camry and Highlander
This is why tbh - ruclips.net/video/X7XosZPQNZE/видео.html

It only comes in hybrid form so it looks like Toyota is aiming to replace all its gas only models with hybridized substitutes
I am sure Venza Prime (302 hp) is coming next year.
Wake up 2020 outside, the times of V6 is passing
Lost it at lack of knobs. Come on, auto manufacturers....
Love the Sunroof, the best I’ve seen!!
wow the interior is gorgeous!! well done.
this car makes me like Toyotas again, design wise
MakeTototaGreatAgain
They really stepped up the game with the new Corolla. Their previous lineup is some of the most hideous cars on the market. Wonder what will Lexus designers do because they are lagging behind.
This Venza is a rebadged Harrier. The Lexus RX was used to be a rebadged Harrier. That's why it looks luxury. Now you wish they bring the Toyota Crown or even the Century to North America.
Century in NA would be a dream come true!
Looks really nice. Thanks for the video.
The front end looks like a Honda Accord made love to a Lexus, and I like it!
Why would Toyota “fight” Lexus when they are the same company?
they'll just make the Lexus cost more, because you're paying extra for the brand name
Agree totally. Previous generations of Lexus RX is just a rebadged Toyota Harrier sold at sky high prices in US. Here in Asia, we bought the substantially cheaper Harrier and rebadged it as a Lexus😂😂😂
They don't. The title is just click bait by the youtuber. He does that alot.
If you have ever been in a Lexus, the interiors are worlds apart
TruthFLA yes this interior is no where near lexus grade
In summary, it is a luxury RAV4 with even less headroom and reduced cargo capacity. Something the size of the original Venza with the 2020 Highlander Hybrid's 243 HP and outstanding fuel economy would have been so much better. Maybe next year. For the record, the people of Kentucky graciously produced a 2016 Venza for Canada as we actually bought that Camry wagon up here.
It’s more meant to be An Asian car than an American car to be honest
@@ajorbista The RAV4 is the most popular car in the USA and Canada so I see no reason why its expensive clone won't do well. My point is that taller people need a bigger option.
@@rightlanehog3151 Most popular "car"? No, it is not. SUV? Yes. Very popular with the car rental fleets.
@@eskieman3948 It's the best selling vehicle in the US that isn't a truck, most people would call SUVs cars. "Car? No, it is not" ""Very popular with the *car* rental fleets" lmao
I must admit I do love the rear look
Great video! I Actually love the new static pano moon roof, it takes away the mechanical complexity from the opening pano moonroofs. I am very interested!
This design is honesty amazing
@@Edyth_Hedd your favorite car
The rear end looks like a jaguar-kia mix, but the turn signals being at the bottom is a bad idea in my opinion.
I said the same. I HATE divorced turn-indicators, especially on the rear. The QX80 nor Kia/Hyundai products look good with them.
Agreed but at least they are separate and amber.
Agreed. Isnt it too dangerous?
@@joenathanz7474 Exactly. If the front of your car is high or long, you probably wont be able to see it.
At 2:41 and 3:37 - I spy the Cayenne Coupe... looking forward to your upcoming review!
Great thorough review.
Owned a 2010 Venza AWD with a 4 banger. Incredibly reliable. Our daughter is still driving it with 150K mikes.
OK boomer
This car will sell like a hot cake 🔥 🔥 🔥
It's a Toyota crossover, of course it will
Honestly. You could slap a Toyota badge on any vehicle and it’ll automatically increase in sales. 😂
I beg to differ. The hybrid only with no gas option has me doubting many Americans will simply go for it. Toyota sells the most hybrids, but their hybrid versions of each respective model only sells about 1/3rd of what the gas models sell. It will be interesting to see if people will simply take the hybrid version of this or Sienna just because they are Toyota or jump ship over to Honda because they aren't comfortable owning such a complex car.
pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-motor-north-america-reports-december-2019-year-end-sales/
@@juanzingarello4005 That's changing. Rav4 hybrid was not out for nearly half the year in 2019 and ended up at 21% (only 2.4% of US vehicles are hybrid). So far this year it is about 1/3 like you said. The difference vs. previous hybrids is that the Rav4 hybrid is actually FASTER and MORE ECO than the non-hybrid. It also doesn't cost that much more. There is only about 1.5yr of break-even for the cost.
@@juanzingarello4005
The hybrid versions of Toyota sells less because of battery supply. There are simply less of them being built
Google
"Prius prime scarcity"
The demand is there for the hybrids. Toyota just produces far more gas only cars than hybrids.
The rav4 hybrid sales jumped by over 700 percent in 1st quarter of 2020. In December of 2019, toyota began production of the rav4 hybrid in their Kentucky plant. Before that, there was severe scarcity and over 6 to 9 month waiting times. Once the plant production was up to speed, we then saw the explosion in 1st quarter 2020. The corolla hybrid sales increased by over 300 percent during that same period.
Google
"Waiting times for the rav4 hybrid"
The rav4 prime will even be worse.
And Google
"Toyota,s biggest problem is keeping hybrid car models in stock"
I like this classic format way better then the other style of driving first and having it all over the place
I miss the old Venza’s sliding center console with the two giant bins for storage. It was a little clunky in conjunction with the cup holders but made up for it by giving you so much useable space
It will be cool if the Toyota symbol lights up
Kwad W Oh yeah that’s what it looks like... couldn’t put my finger on it
No no it wouldnt
Seen that on Mercedes its so cheesy
It would look tacky...
It was a risky move for them to make the Venza and the Sienna as a hybrid only.
I think it’s a good idea considering their reliability, and if we look at the price gap between the regular and hybrid RAV4, it shouldn’t raise the price too much either.
I was waiting to buy sienna for years now i've changed my mind i cant stand hybrid cars ill go for 2021kia sedona
@@emmaschmidt1100 I'm the opposite. I'm waiting for the Sienna hybrid. Need a car that goes over 30mpg, gas prices in California suck. I was leaning towards the Venza but wow, much smaller than I thought. I'd rather get a RAV4 hybrid/prime instead. Now need to wait for the 2021 Sienna review.
Emma Schmidt what don’t you like..?
In the today's market, I would say that's the bold but wise move ... every manufacturer is moving to electrification of the cars ...
Love the paint. looks so nice.
Girrrllll, I don't think we're supposed to see the MPGs yet. Damn embargo. Great video, as always.
This title is so accurate
They've gotta save the volume/tuning nobs as a "perk" in the mid cycle refresh. 😡
I can't tell you the last time I've used them, there's a mute button and physical buttons on the steering wheel I almost never reach for the center to change the volume
Creative Dragon usually passengers complain but they shouldn’t be touching volume anyway 😡
I'm always driving =) So not my problem
@@ethanmckibbin correct. I have actually blocked the volume knob with a phone holder since I dont use it anyways :D
@@shutupishful yup, nobody touches my volume

Nice review as always. Looks like a nice ride, though the sunroof that doesn’t open is a big miss imo
Time to ditch the white sunglasses 😂
Agree..... he should switch to a "Red" Honda sunglass.
agree, white sunglasses scream "im still in 2003!!" lol
Thanks for the video Sofyan! This car has some good tech. I feel like the Murano still looks more luxurious inside and out.
Jez Raddissom I had a Murano....loved it! So luxurious on inside...and the Pano roof opens!!!
The 2009 - 2015 Venza with the V6 towed 3500 lbs.; an adventure mobile if you wanted to tow small trailers or jet skis. And plenty room inside for a couple of road or mountain bikes.
Great video sofa!!
Made in Japan?! I am so in!!!!
Ummmm no it’s more likely be built in Kentucky.
Jonathan Ratliff i dont believe in made in japan
Nissan,Subaru’s,Suzuki’s and Mitsubishi’s are made in japan but there quality is utter garbage
Instead say made by Toyota, made by Honda, and made by Mazda, the three quality machines, our Canadian built rav4 is much better built than our previous made in japan maxima, our built in the USA accord is better than any Japanese built Nissan,Mitsubishi and Subaru product out there
@@joskjj3625 First, genuine Japanese quality is not for export for the domestic market only
Subaru’s,Suzuki’s and Mitsubishi’s are made in japan but there quality is utter garbage-good joke
accord is better than any Japanese built- best joke ever
@@joskjj3625 Maybe you lucked out? Because my family have only ever owned Toyota and Honda and I noticed over the years that the cars with VINs starting with a J are consistently of better quality than the ones not built in Japan. So in my case, I'll always believe in the "built in Japan" quality. I think it just makes sense given how disciplined Japanese workers are compared to their American and Canadian counterparts. Japanese take pride in what they do and not just work to put food on the table.
SDav21 not true.. lol they are capable of making left hand drive cars for us markets too.. My g35 is japanese made
Looks amazing but the touch sensitive buttons to control hvac and audio are a deal breaker.
Really ?
Agree. They are painful
That color is gorgeous wow
Really love the looks of the new Venza. Not so awkward looking as the previous generation. Agreed that the 3 quarter view looks like a Jag F Pace. It actually is a pretty car and they really knocked it out of the park on the interior. Also- Toyota is finally updating their ancient key fobs.
I dont agree with the volume knob frustration, most drivers will likely use the controls on the steering wheel.
If they had a Prime version I’d buy one now.
They will. Without doubt.
I'm leaning towards the RAV4 Prime as well. I want to go full electric but also don't want to wait so long for charging so having the gas option is highly likeable.
I was looking to buy suv hybrid. I was looking at rav4 prime but this one venza is changing my mind. Oh god this is the suv I looking for
Hybrid is the new go to! I would like a Sport Hybrid option with more electric power and sport suspension
Can anyone imaging owning this car for a decade with all the center stack buttons and knobs gone? Just awful.
Theres a reason why they did that - ruclips.net/video/X7XosZPQNZE/видео.html

This trend of fixed glass roof in the automotive world really needs to die! What's the friggin point of having a sunroof if you can't open it?!
Right like wtf waste of money
A Sunroof has one huge benefit for me. It lets in light! Lots of light helps my old man eyes see better.
Beautiful vehicle...I like the size...tough Hybrid being the only option! Love the roof but bad that it does not open at all!! Thanks for the preview!
Toyota makes the most reliable hybrids and it still has 200+hp so its not lacking
This is a perfect car the look the cabinet the features just all I want in a modern car.
I would definitely get this over an RX
Isnt this the Toyota version of the RX?
You tripping bro RX is way better man
JIVAN GILL it’s so outdated and expensive for no reason. I mean yes it has the V6 but at the end of the day Toyota’s going 100% hybrid in less than 5 years so it’s just smarter to get the Venza
It's got a little bit of that new Toyota Mirai concept styling, I like that.
woot! not used to redline being the first out of the gate.
Is it me or does this Venza resembles the NX?
To me it resembles the RX
@@lav1daloca The Toyota Harrier on which this is based and the Lexus RX are basically the same car just different badges and features.

Ah, no not at all to my eyes. Macan styling is the best in any ute or crossover segment.
no it doesnt lmao, it looks like an rx
I have a 2016 Venza V6 LTD (Canada), and people are always surprised how roomy the back seat is, and how much I can haul in it (I’m a DIYer). I fit 2”x4” by 10 ft lumbar no problem, full closing the hatch. As an example, this weekend I picked up 12 pressure treated 6”x6” 8 ft posts, 10 bags of 30kg gravel and my wife and I in the vehicle (she sat in the seat behind me comfortably). All that with the hatch closed. This new version is just too small, so I’ll hold onto mine for another 4-5 yrs.
I think this is the 4th time I watched this vid.. and anxiously waiting for other new reviews of this new Venza.. why are you doing this to me, Venza!?
Knobs! Give me knobs!
The lower trims have knobs.
Doug Demuro: Shows a gorgeous tan interior and thinks it's outdated and for old people.
Redline Reviews: Shows a gorgeous black interior. "I don't particularly like this black interior. I wish it came in the caramel color that Toyota showed."
Car reviews are great, but it's ultimately the buyer who decides and I'm buying a Venza!
Thanks Redline Review for the preview looking forward to this car since my RAV4 lease will be up soon. It’s one of the more narrow SUVs and living in NYC it’s difficult to have a wide SUV in the driveway so this would be a good alternative to those other crossover SUVs though I think the Passport is still the one to beat in 2-row midsize SUVs.
The Passport is so so. The Passport has a timing belt. When the belt goes the car is totaled. Honda’s have been know to break belts on occasion. Honda markets the Passport as off-road but the suspension is weak. They have been known to blow struts and ball joints. The real world mpg is almost the same as the 4Runner. The “ancient” 4Runner is a superior vehicle if you go off road. If not the Venza is the one to beat especially if fuel prices continue to rise and parking spaces keep getting smaller.
Finally back !
OMG, the screen is sooo tacky, way to big and a stick on dash unit. I like built in not ad on screens.
Tony Newell I have to agree. It looks like it’s too “in your face”, projecting out from the dash.
There is no questioning here: Lexus is a much better luxury car than Audi and BMW, prosche.. I say that because I own a Lexus RC F, Audi A7, and a BMW M4. The Lexus is superior... and it can never be compared to a Toyota, they belong to a different realm.
BTW I will buy another Lexus once I get rid of my german cars
I agree totally. I've had 3 new Benz including an AMG, I just purchased my first Lexus and I couldn't be happier with its superior quality.
You 2 make me laugh...
I bet you smell your own farts, in a wine glass.
I like that the dash stack is more symmetrical than the Camry's version.
I’m so happy it’s back!
This has the quality of a GM product. Hard touch dashboard, touch sensitive center stack, analog gauges in the instrument cluster.
yea it's hard touch but WOULD YOU touch that part of your own car dashboard EVERY DAY? pls be realistic. At least the nearest part to you of the dashboard is soft touch.

The Japan-spec version of this car comes without touch-sensitive climate controls! (ruclips.net/video/5YN_Mwc6k-0/видео.html) I wish Toyota had considered that for the US version as well; touch-sensitive controls really need to go away :/
Market data says Americans want shiny, not usable controls. We also get blinkers scientifically proven to increase accidents and inferior mirrors.
Luckily, we get the best airbags I guess.
thats the mid range model in japan. the fully decked out version still comes with the touch climate controls. why they thought thats a premium feature is beyond me
I love the beefiness of the venza. It reminds me of the Ford edge and Lincoln mkx
Great review as usual! When are you doing a review on the Sienna or did you already do it?
I like the styling of the car. But that steering wheel. Same steering wheel as the Corolla, Camry, rav4, and the 4runner...
Not the 4Runner but definitely the Supra, lol they hate designing steering wheels
it's just a cost saving measure. they use what works
They've been doing this for a long time lol. The Century, more expensive than any Lexus in the 90s, had the same steering wheel as a camry
thats Literally a Lexus RX

Totally agree. Very Jaguar looking from the rear .
To me it looks like a re-design CH-R
Agree, very ugliest from the back
Yes, this and CH-R really serve no true purpose. Pretty much everything this Venza claims to do, RAV-4 just does that better. And esthetically, RAV-4 is actually much easier on the eyes too.
