I love the scarf worn as a little shrug/wrap, it looks great! I adore my silk scarves, I’ll have to try wearing them like this, too. I like to get some coverage for my upper arms, which are slim, but wrinkly from aging-related collagen loss. I show them if I must to keep cool enough and I don’t obsess over it, but if I can comfortably cover them with a breathable fabric like silk I feel less self-conscious about them. It’s such a great idea to wear a scarf like this, you are the best stylist ever🙂

Great outfits! You make the best videos.
I'm usually a very light packer. When I fly across the country back to AZ (southwestern US) for a couple of weeks in spring I have taken as little as:
    3 dresses (2 casual, 1 dressy)
    2 jumpsuits (casual)
    1 swimsuit
    1 nightgown
1 lightweight, cashmere pashmina scarf to use as a wrap on the plane
    1 pair neutral sandals
    1 pair sneakers
    1 pair of neutral flats
1 simple neutral dress-casual shoulder bag
    1 sun hat
    undergarments/socks
    1 pair hoop earrings
    1 pair dangling earrings
1 bracelet (goes with both sets of earrings)
    1 mascara
    1 eye shadow
    1 eyeliner
    1 lipstick
    1 eyelash curler
    toiletries

Great suggestions, but wearing jeans jacket, trousers and Long skirts are really muh much to hot to wear in the South between late april to late october where i go!
It would work going to the canarie Island during the wintermonths late december to februar
Not anywhere else , by my experience, sorry!
I would take an ice silk, knitted short cardi with short sleeves. And a shawl / pashmina - Instead of the heavy jeans jacket, a pair of Long and short leggings , same color - instead of the Black trousers - wich even in the Air is to hot.
I wear Them both if we fly late at night , and take of the Long ones off at the plane when we arrive!

It's not about you, but nature and you can contribute to save it by boycotting these vile materials.

Gemma, I always enjoy your ideas and have learned a quite a bit from your approach. Years ago, I basically had three colors in my closet. In approximately 2012, I started adding color. Started out fine but then I became overwhelmed with so many choices. You helped me get back to basics. I still have WAY too many choices. I’m glad you have been giving more instruction on how to wear color. I appreciate you.

I flew from Catania, Sicily to Milan a week ago. One small wheelie bag and one handbag. I agree completely about shoes. I wore trainers but saw others in open sandals or flip flops that complained if a bag touched them. Even if (as is the case at present) it is red hot outside, canvas trainers will be comfortable. I wore flattering A-line bermuda shorts in cotton/linen, with a pure linen shirt tucked in. It worked very well, even in the chill on the plane. My handbag is a capacious denim one, with two compartments that both zip. When in Sicily, I love an open straw basket but would not be happy to travel with it. Of course they can be lined (I did this by hand myself), and if you can fit a zip on top then it will be safe - against accidental spills as well as thieves

My waist thickened an incredible 4 inches around perimenopause, even though I didn’t gain any weight. My formerly “neat hourglass” shape is now a rectangle, my too-narrow hips don‘t help. So, I almost always choose elastic-waist bottoms, it’s not even a matter of comfort, just being able to have bottoms that can close at the waist somehow. I can’t just size up three sizes because of my narrow hips. I don’t care if they’re “mature” or “less chic”, they’re really my only option, except for custom-made trousers. I have size 4 hips and size 10 US waist, nothing without elastic can work. I don’t even bother with brands that don’t have them. I wish brands would get the message, even just a few inches of elastic at the back of the waistband does the trick and doesn’t detract from the flat-front, pleated-front, etc., styling. Reformation has the best waistbands, the elastic is narrow, light and stretchy. Most have wide, heavy-duty, thick elastic that can hold a bridge up! Elastic waistbands always and forever!

I’m a light packer. I have learned black dress pants (1)and then black athletic pants (3-4) work well for me.
Add (5) casual tops and (1-2) dressy tops.
I take 3 of shoes . One I wear, one sandal & one for evening. (Total 3 pair)
    Jean jacket
    2 bathing suits.
    3-4 bodysuits (undergarments) 2 nude 1black
    Pearl earrings (stud)
All of my medications go in too.
Everything is coordinated so I can mix and match
I know I’ve forgotten something but this is what comes to mind.
I carry all this on with me in a tote which I use 2-3 mesh zip bags that I use to divide my essentials so I’m not through my bag should I need something. I also carry a water, a nutritional bar and a fan just in case we should be stuck in the airplane or ????

I like to wear slip-on trainers while traveling. They look a bit more polished than lace-up, athletic-style ones, and of course, they are so easy to put off and on for security lines, relaxing in my plane seat, etc. They are just as comfortable and supportive for all-day walking. I always wear thin silk socks, so I will wear a double layer of them, to remove the outer (dark-colored) ones after walking in the airport lines or sitting in the plane seat. I love wearing a knit midi-dress for travel, because it’s so hard for me to find any trousers at all with comfortable waists, even the elastic ones, sweats or leggings. I have chronic pain from a back injury and can’t stand much pressure there. I’m a rectangle, straight, shape without much waist definition, so nearly every “bottom” is too tight in the waist. I can only size up so much in trousers without looking quite ridiculous because my hips are quite narrow (most skirts are better). If I must wear trousers because it’s winter, I love a natural-fiber knit/jersey matching top (or jacket) and trouser set. I almost always wear one of my Ralph Lauren cotton-knit blazers, they are as comfortable as a cardigan, but look more chic and polished. (I’m one of the few people who won’t wear denim, I hate it). The trickiest part of travel attire for me is the bra, there just aren’t any comfortable enough, even those stretchy bralettes, but I don’t feel presentable without one (no nipple show-through for me, trendy or not!). I always wear or carry a silk scarf, I love them, they are a comfort and improve my outfits. Thanks for your great ideas here❤

I wouldn’t call myself an over-packer, but I like to have enough clothing to get by in case there is no laundry service available. In hot weather I don’t think you can reasonably expect to wear any garment more than two times, so your capsule would work for a long weekend but not much longer. For a seven day trip I would take several of the tank tops and an additional pair of shorts at least.

I definitely over-pack, every single time! The weather forecasts have been so far wrong on some of my trips that I started checking the weather averages for my destinations, too. One time, it said 50s F in the (California) Sierra Nevada, but it was a record in the mid-90s, even at Tioga Pass, nearly 10,000 ft. elevation! I had literally nothing suitable packed and had to buy whatever I could find that was cool, at little country general stores and over-priced resort boutiques. I ended up keeping none of these emergency clothes and sandals, what a waste of time and money! There are now about 200 years of weather data for most locations, and they give a great idea of what one can expect, both for typical weather for the travel dates, and the possible extremes.

I agree with another that I would not use an open straw (or any material) open bag until I get yo my destination. There are those straw bags that do zip. On another note, someone just got back from Paris and noted that almost everyone, dress or casual, wore trainers everywhere! She almost never wore her sandals. She was so surprised at the ultra casual dress of the Parisians who we typically think of as extremely upscale. Everything was loose and casual. Very surprised 😯

We travel carry-on only every trip. Your travel outfit wouldn't be my idea of perfect for air travel. Those wide leg flowy pants are nice but would be a disaster in the airplane bathroom as they'd drag on that dirty floor. Also, the open tote bag invites pick pockets. I would utilize the sneakers/trainers more because we do a lot of sightseeing on vacation.

  • @missmayflower
    @missmayflower 2 месяца назад +1

All good, except the tote. Your personal item needs a zipper so nothing rolls out of it under the seat and so that it’s not easy for a pickpocket to reach in. Also it’s the wrong shape to fit under the seat.

I cannot wear trousers as an airplane outfit. The thought of them dragging in the floor of the bathroom and airport are nauseating.
