FACOM Wrench Overview, Model 440

- Welcome back to my channel. Today I do an overview of the FACOM model 440 SAE wrench set. Facom is a company under the Stanley/Black and Decker corporation. They are located in France and the United Kindom. These are very similar to the Mac Tools Precision Torque wrenches.
I also compare these to my Cornwell and Tekton Wrenches.
At the end is a video from FACOM showing the wrench. The video is in French.

They are a nice set of wrenches i do like the offset it leaves a little more meat but leave room to work
Very cool opening 👍🇨🇦
Thanks Dave. Great look at the wrenches. FACOM I heard actually bought/ owned SK Tools for a short time before being sold and brought back to the states from France. Wrenches look great and what a deal!
I never knew that... interesting
Thanks for watching😁
Thanks and nice set of wrenches
Thanks for watching
Crazy, I was just looking at these over the weekend. This video was perfect for giving me a good look at the set. Thanks.
LoL... awesome...
So yes or no?🤔
Thanks for watching👍👍
I like them as I was looking for an alternative to Mac Precision Torque because I don’t have a Mac guy and don’t want to pay in full up front.
But like you pointed out, getting them shipped to the states is rather a pain.
So a lot of words to say- undecided lol
@@Occupant_ Amazon sells then with free shipping.
Some nice wrenches !
Thank you sir👍
Those are awesome...Great wrenches...I love Facom tools...👍
5:30.. they are intended to use with a wrench extender that's why you see the extra meat on the open end to handle higher loads..
8:05... that's why these were manufactured in an I-beam style... it's actually stronger and you can use less material ...
basically have thinner wrenches that are stronger than thicker wrenches by using the I-beam style.. I have a set of Challenger wrenches that look exactly like your Cornwell set...
Spot on...
9:24.. not really they're exactly the same length as the Tekton wrench...look at the box end of the wrenches... and you'll see the Facom is actually about a quarter of an inch away from being lined up with the other two
10:50... I just paid $110 for the 14 piece set..🤭 I got a great deal they're almost 50% off.. pretty much why I grabbed them...hell of a deal for this set...
That is a steal ! Good job.
I did like the wrenches, but because I work on equipment and large dump trucks I went with the Precision version.
Thanks for watching and stay safe 😊
Very nice wrenches
Thanks 😁👍
I have found that my Cornwell wrenches are longer then my Snap-On, Matco, Craftsman & Gearwrench. All being "standard length" wrenches. Seems there is no standard to "standard length" . Never had a chance to buy from a Mac dealer, so can't compare. Great find, good video.
Yes.. My Cornwells that I bought over twenty years ago have been fantastic. They are my personal benchmark for others .. Thanks👍
G'day Dave, I'm in Australia, I have the 440 Sidchrome spanners in Metric 6-24mm and A/F 1/4 to 11/4, very nice spanners,
They look the same as your Mac pro ones as you said, hope your well.
That is AWESOME!
Those look really nice from the few videos that I have seen. I like my Mac's and that is why I started to do some research and found the FACOM and SIDCHROMES.
Do you like your wrenches?
What type of mechanic are you?
Thanks for watching and commenting 😁
They are exactly the same.
@@OneMechanic I'm a forklift Mechanic Dave, and I love my tools.
@@bigpuppytools4295 Awesome brother... have a great weekend 😁👍👍
Hi from 🇬🇧 I have the facom 440 metric 7mm to 24mm and I love them will be getting the ratchet versions.
That is awesome to hear. Im always curious what other guys are using. What kind of mechanic are you? 👍👍
Hi i am an commercial Gas engineer. I work on industrial boilers on nuclear sites and schools, hospitals.
@@garethcai2280 So cool. Thanks man. Take care of yourself👍👍
The main difference between these and the mac ones are the open side. The mac precision torques have teeth on the open (think snap on flank drive/flank drive plus). Also I believe the mac ones are the longer than the standard 440s.
The Mac's are definitely longer as shown in the video. I was talking to a guy in Australia and they have Sidchrome. Another Stanley company. But they seem to be identical from what he was saying.. It is still a 440 wrench. Thanks for watching😁
If you all like this style of wrench, Craftsman does offer this exact same wrench in their V series. The only difference is The wrench has Craftsman stamped on it rather than Facom. Yes Stanley owns both brands. Problem is Craftsman skips the 9mm and it only goes up to 19mm. I bought the V series for my tool bag, to complete the set I went on Amazon and purchased Facom 440 individual wrenches in 9mm, 20mm, 21mm and 22mm to complete the set. The price was around $75 to $80. You definitely can get into some weird spots with these wrenches. I am surprised how comfortable that I beam style handle actually is. They are definitely not as strong as Wright grip 2.0 or Snap-On flank drive plus but these wrenches are compact will get you into tight and awkward spots where the Wrights and Snap-On's can't get into. If you need wrenches for higher torque applications use the Wrights and Snap-On's. But if you work in weird and awkward spaces with lower torque Facom 440 or Craftsman V work very well. Truthfully I prefer Facom/Craftsman V over stubby wrenches. The box end is like a very shallow socket. The box end can get into a recess. The open is angled in such a way that you get a better purchase on a fastener in a tight spot. The thinner blade does help too. So far so good.
Yes! I have the Mac version in metric. I keep them as backup to my Wrights because you are right. The Box end is fantastic and the offset of the open end are great. I saw the V series and was upset that they skip sizes as well... still have the cool holders tho... lol
I browse their website sometimes just to see what’s new , interesting to see other market’s differences 👍🏼
I use these rather than my snap on now....for last 5 years only brought Facom...
They are nice wrenches. Do you work in automotive or something bigger?
Just outa curiosity have you ever checked out the stahlwille model 14 combination wrenches? Although come to think of it they may not make them in sae anymore. But the metric ones are pretty sweet.
Hey... I have a friend that has them and she loves them. I have wanted to try them but because the sizes don't go very big, I have not tried them... Thanks for asking 😃
Also check out handtoolsfromgermany or kC tool they usually have way faster shipping
Okay... I will.... Thanks for the information 😁
Off sets are opposite from open to closed end.
😂 “f*ckem” nice vide Dave! I really like the way the Mac/ facom wrenches look but the Mac are pricey for non USA wrenches is rather buy some stahlwille
Thanks 😁
Do they make up tp 32mm? Or SAE up to 1 1/4?
I dont know much about them
That's great. I have a mixed set of those same Mac wrenches and I wanted to buy a complete set of the Facom ones and I'm glad they are just about the same length.
The FACOM are shorter then the Mac version. Either one is a very nice wrench set. But I have been the happiest with my Wright Wrenches. I still have the Mac's but the Wrights's are my everyday goto.
@@OneMechanic what I mean was I have the similar length Mac ones as your cornwell. Probably same vintage.
@@bstamand1985 ohhh.... lol... very nice bro
You can’t take those nice wrenches home they will work fine with the extender did you get those off the mactruck?
Amazon... I wonder if Mac will warranty them though?
One Mechanic ask your guy when he comes mines good about warranty even used stuff I got
Yes mac based there design off these, now facom has wrenches that look like macs and are longer, we have the same wrenches i find them way to short i try to use them but always needed to go get a longer wrench or ratchet...sucks cause otherwise i really like them
Yeah, that is what I'm afraid of... But time will tell.
Thanks for watcjing👍👍
Great video, when i worked on cars they were short..now i work in a factory and there perfect.. should have stated that before
😁👍👍
First!
😁
Pleas check some Gedore tools from germany out pleas dont get this wrong i just would like to hear wath people from the other side of the world think about them keep up your great work 👍👍👍
Thanks brother 👍👍
@@OneMechanic and those facom wrenches look nice
They are nice but my worry is that they are short... But time will tell 😁
@@OneMechanic yes the look short
1st...looks just like mac wrenches
They are part of the Stanley corporation. And I know that they are making at least some of the Expert line
They do look like the Precision Torque's
I have been told that the MAC Precision Torque wrenches are similar to the upcoming 440XL wrenches.
Is the 440XL a Facom wrench?
@@OneMechanic Yes, that is what I was told . No availability date was given.
Yeah, the Facom 440XL series is the direct equivalent to the Mac Precision Torque series, with the longer handles and the non-slip open jaws - nice but pricier than the standard 440s.
They are built on the same factory as Mac tools
Technically they are built in a factory owned by Stanley. Then they are Branded to other Stanley companies such as Mac Tools, Facom, Sid Chrome and others..
They are build in Italy in USAG factory
they look like MAC Wrenches
