The soundtrack was legendary, but so were the menu noises. It may seem like an odd thing to point out, but for some reason, those noises really made the game for me. When I played it as a kid, the noises and the music were what stood out the most to me, and when I came back to the game 20 years later, that's what I remembered.
I thought i was the only one that had a particular affection for these menu sounds! Something about that particular sound when you first choose between arcade and simulation mode is just so greeting and nostalgic for me, and since they are ported from GT2, it's like polyphony liked em so much they used em twice 😂
Big moment to remember and appreciate how fucking nuts the soundtrack of GT is. Licensed and composed music is unmatched combined in the racing game genre
Another comprehensive and well made video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one. Always a pleasure to learn more about the GT series considering I never got to play any of them back in my time. Props to you and your editor for this amazing video! 👍
I got Gran Turismo 3 for Christmas 2002, and it was one of, if not, the first PS2 game I've ever played. It was my first Gran Turismo game as well. I was 6 and it blew my mind. I fell in love with the game, and had to have Gran Turismo 4 when it came out, and I got even more obsessed with that game. I can say with certainty that Gran Turismo 3 and subsequently 4 helped me in the long run when it came time to learn how to drive in real life. And the music definitely has shaped my music tastes. Now revisiting and discovering a lot of jazz/jazz fusion as an adult. Gran Turismo 3 was really ahead of its time, and so was 4. I've replayed them both a couple years ago, and they're still impressive. The lack of damage physics always bothered me too.
I always found GT3 to be special. Sure, it has way less cars and tracks than GT2 - While being more restrictive than the previous with its events. But I happen to enjoy the event structure, specially how it's divided on three different leagues where some events are repeated. It's a bit of a waste to do things like drivetrain challenges with a bunch of starter cars, you miss out on so many cars. While yes, it has shortcomings like any piece of media, it has its charm and I always enjoy coming back to it (minus those test track events) About tire wear, I find it's tied to each car and some are better than others. I don't really think tires can be managed in these classic GT games, the best bet is building a gap which allows you to cover your pitstop. Or play the pit strategy game with the AI.
I remember back in the day that this game was included in the box with my PS2. I still remember wasting so many hours playing the rally races and trying to drift every single car in this game as a kid. Also, the "Are You Gonna Go My Way" song lives rent free inside of my head, because of this game.
Nostalgia kicked in, when you mentioned christmas, Cause in 2003 the same exact thing happened to me. I was 5 when my parents told us to come down to the cristmash tree, cause under it was our gifts, and it was a brand new PS2 fat, and my first ever game, GT3. My ps2 still works today, i even use it sometimes, but saddly my gt3 disc got so scratched, i cant play with it anymore. but still, that one bit brought back many memoires, and i'm so thankful for you and for this video.
The soundtrack on GT3🔥 I can hear “never enough” playing right now while racing on the super speedway, got me into Papa Roach also that Powerman 5000 song “supernova goes pop”
I don't play GT3 anymore, but I did enjoy my time with it over the years and I appreciate it for introducing me to the world of cars and racing games in general. The fact that it's still gets talked about 20+ years later is a testament to how groundbreaking it was back in 2001. Only negatives I have about it though are these: ·Test Course being overused in Simulation Mode (16 TIMES iirc) when it should've only been used for Like the Wind (which is a 20 LAP RACE smh) ·No new oval track that's half a mile in length. GT1 had 1 oval, GT2 had 2 ovals, but GT3 doesn't get 3? ·The Corvette C5R and Camaro LM use 4cylinder sounds despite being powered by V8s. ·Super Speedway (uninspiring name btw) looks so lifeless compared to its GT2 version. Same goes for Test Course. Not much else to say.
I recently got this game as my first Gran Turismo game. I never played the series, because I never heard of it for a long time, but I decided to buy a used PS2 copy of Gran Turismo 3. It plays really well and the game is a lot of fun. The one thing that annoys me are the license tests, but over all I enjoy the game. And for 2001 game, it still looks good even to this very day.
I really regret not getting into GT back in the day, I owned a PS2 but I was never into Racing Games really. Only started on Xbox 360 with the first Forza Horizon. Atleast Emulators exist and I can go back and experience the greats still :)
GT1 was a game changer, but GT3 was also a game changer. I remember buying this and can't believe how beautiful the graphics was. Played it for 3 years straight
Can't say that it changed anything at all. But in 2002 I was (still am) a Dreamcast & PC owner and bought the PS2 mostly because of GT3, GTA3 and Winning Eleven 5FE. These three games were everything I wished to play for a good time. I already was a veteran of Gran Turismo (and not only GT... but also arcade racers and PC simulators) and the limitations of GT3 didn't bothered me... I saw it as a half full glass and dare to say that even if GT4 is a better game (and it is... in every aspect), the 3rd one gave me much more joy... probably because that when GT4 came it had some huge contenders released or to be so. Nice video... cheers!
I had an opportunity to see the WTC before it fell a month later. But I wanted to stay in tha GAME STOP and see that GT3 preview on tha Screen BECAUSE tha WTC aint going NOWHERE lmao haha ;D Its a GREAT GAME that's how powerful it WAS!!!!
Commenting a bit late but still needed to say it. Gran Turismo 3 wasn't just the first GT game I played, it was the videogame I had ever played. When I got my ps2 my dad couldn't afford GT4 back then, so he got GT3 instead. We used to spend hours on super speedway and I clearly remember I always picked the Dodge Viper GTSR and he picked the Corvette C5R. I remember also crashing in the wall so many times, especially in the time trials where I eventually found out you need to brake at a corner 😂. With all of that, GT3 is the reason I love cars. Yeah, I wouldn't call it the best GT game ever made (Although it's definitely close) but it really is the game that kicked of my love for cars and videogames in general. I barely see my dad anymore, so I'm glad I still got GT3 to think about him. It ain't perfect, but damn this game is pure art
I think Forza motorsports changed the whole thing, real damage, online multiplayer, be able to paint the way u like and costume your car. It changed everything. It forced Sony to make changes
Although Gran Turismo 4 is definitely the better game, Gran Turismo 3 is still my favorite of the series. For fuck's sake, there are almost as many Honda NSX models in GT4 as there are all the available Ford cars....
What did you think of Gran Turismo 3 and do you want to see more videos like this on other Gran Turismo games? Let me know your opinions!
Hello
GT3 ist FAR superior to this very video full of false information.
GT1 and 2 share the same physics ...... yeah, right ...
Best part of this game was when Suzuki Escudo said "It's Gran Turismin' time" and then Sunday Cupped all over the GT Mode
Bro was Turismoed
👊😝
Get escudo'd
Fly my friend flyyyy, that was GOLD oh my god. Sucks that there are no more speed glitches like that anymore.
@@Fastminer07Makima got Gran Turismo 3'd.
The graphics jump from PS1 era to PS2 era is absolutely insane. GT3 looks SO, SO much better than GT 2 it's nuts.
But the content 💀
@@jcrrf1976 Chill tf out man it's not that deep.
that was me in 97, PlayStation 1 with Gran Turismo . Best xmas gift ever, I remeber playing demos of GT1 at friends place. 33 yrs old now
The graphics jump from GT2 to GT3 will never be topped.

YES best video game soundtrack of all time
I thought i was the only one that had a particular affection for these menu sounds! Great video as always. GT3 was my first GT game on PS2, good memories.

Glad we could help make some quality stuff of these great games!
Gran Turismo 3 was my first ever video game and I enjoy it a lot even today
I remember the first time I played this and I saw the heat effect radiating from the tarmac.
what a great video I just watched, I met you through your lives and I found out that you also make videos, I'll spend the rest of my day watching them

The music was awesome. Soon as I heard that arcade mode music I felt like I was sitting down in front of my box TV ready to play haha.

joey and racing game enjoyer
Attention: I think you have confused petrol with engine oil; when the fuel is interactively displayed in the game?

Love your videos my man. Keep it up! 🙌🏾

Ahh, I remember hearing the theme song by Feeder playing when starting up the game and letting the intro play.
Really neat & quick review
How this game changed the majority of racing genre with soundtrack, atmosphere, cars.
Really good stuff there!
Goat Turismo
An awesome graphic Evolution. Great soundtrack, fantastic introduction and a long gameplay

gt1 came only in jp ready for xmas 97, pal and america got it some months later in 98
Enjoyed this video, thanks and great work
The best video ever GG buddy 🙂
you've earned my complete respect after mentioning Casiopea and T-square💪
I played this game so much it taught me how to drive!!
The quality of videos you produce is getting better and better, this one really show that you put a lot of time and effort into it. Well done Dove!

2023, cant belive Gran Turismo 3 is now 22 years old.
Everytime I hear the gt 3 arcade mode menu it gives me hype
GT1 was a game changer, but GT3 was also a game changer. I remember buying this and can't believe how beautiful the graphics was. Played it for 3 years straight
We need remake of this game
Didn't notice until now that gt3 cover photo is a porsche 996 911 healight
I love the style and mood of Gran Turismo 3
cars are cute and it has cool beans and cars again and happiness
Literaly the game of my childhood, remember doing the 100 lap track everytime with the suzuki escuedo maxed to get rare special prize at the end :D

Hot stuff. Fastminer really did a nice edit
Gran turismo 4 was the pinnacle of this franchise.
GT3 graphics were so good and smooth at the time that it felt like if you were on another dimension back in 2003.
On GT4 there was music arranged from GT3
I had an opportunity to see the WTC before it fell a month later. But I wanted to stay in tha GAME STOP and see that GT3 preview on tha Screen BECAUSE tha WTC aint going NOWHERE lmao haha ;D Its a GREAT GAME that's how powerful it WAS!!!!
GT Forever 🎉😊respect 🙏
Great video, but Gt1 and Gt2 physics was very different tho
the only thing it changed for me is the amount of hair on my head, i'm struggling with B-8 for the second day
We need a gt legacy edition in the future
Gt3 and gt5 best of the series change my mind
this game was something else

Background music seemed like porno graphic, any moment you were expecting John Holmes or Ron Jeremy to appear lol
My favorite Gran Turismo.
I still hop back on GT3 over 4. Looked better, the camera is not disorienting, realistic steering, and just way more fun
What's the name of the song starting at 8:50?
That sounds like "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John.
What game is that at 1:23
I think Forza motorsports changed the whole thing, real damage, online multiplayer, be able to paint the way u like and costume your car. It changed everything. It forced Sony to make changes
there is no fuel mechanic in this game, only oil
.... but to make this video longer than i can, we have to go back
don't worry , we will go back to the 1800s for ya next time just so its longer xd
If Gt 3 had mods it would be cool
I think there is a concept mod for it that adds more stuff but I never tried it out
Although Gran Turismo 4 is definitely the better game, Gran Turismo 3 is still my favorite of the series. GT3 may have "only" 180 cars, but I prefer that to the more than 721 cars in GT4, where of those 721, more than 120 are Nissans and about 100 are Mazdas. For fuck's sake, there are almost as many Honda NSX models in GT4 as there are all the available Ford cars....
This was my first PS2 game, I hated it, it was really hard to drive.
For me, GT3 as it was made, is valid only as a prologue.
