You are speaking facts, but Kirk missed an opportunity to truly minister to someone who lives a fornicator lifestyle. The backing you gave isnt what Kirk gave. Kirk coming from a stance of marriage being weaponized, when marriage "can be" a solution for someone struggling with fornication in their walk with Christ. Even Paul says (in the same passage Kirk spoke of) it's better to marry than to burn because you cant control yourself. No sex isnt the only reason to get married (though it is a bonus haha) but if you cant abstain then take that off the plate of struggles that could keep you out the kingdom...

There is definitely some truth to what Kirk said, people constantly put marriage on a pedestal as opposed to God. There are certainly benefits to marriage. But the reality is, there are not a lot of Christian marriage-minded men. The majority of black churches are mostly women. So inevitably, there are going to be a lot of single people.
Folks put marriage on a pedestal to the point where many people end up with partners who are unequally yoked, just to say they are married.

    • @ebonyjackson3198
      @ebonyjackson3198 27 дней назад +4

💯Agreed. Marriage to a godly, equally yoked partner is beautiful and a blessing, but being single is also because you can devote yourself more fully to God and not have to divide your time with marital duties (1Cor. 7:32-34). Many, especially women, have made an idol of marriage, paying thousands for marriage seminars and conferences and partnering with the wrong men out of desperation. There's nothing wrong with seeking marriage as long as it doesn't take precedence before God.

      The Death Express
When The Death Express rolls up to your door, the things that you’re doing, right or wrong you can’t do anymore! Life on earth is short at its best, for we all are facing the acid test.
So when writing the poem (of life) make it rhyme, and it must be written on the shores of time. We must write it by faith, though we all like to see. But we can’t write this poem in eternity, so don’t sit on your seat until you hear the beep, get up and start now, awake out of your sleep!
What am I sending on the other side?
Before The Death Express comes (those wheels) to give us our ride?
So get busy, do good, and get involved.
And when The Death Express comes, your problems will be solved. Slow down; slow down, so that you may learn, don’t run ahead of our leader, you don’t know where to turn. Learn how to give, how to bear, how to share, Learn how to do good to men everywhere. Now you can watch for the signs as we go. Stay under the blood of Jesus, that washes white as snow. .
When The Death Express rolls up to give you your first ride, who is your escort, with a heart full of pride? Too proud to listen, too stubborn to hear, But Wait! Those wheels, those dreadful wheels are rolling near. There’s an escort for every one and who will yours be? I want Jesus in the Holy Ghost to escort me! Speaking of space, there’s room to spare, for this train picks up men everywhere. It transport the rich and it transports the poor. It drops off one generation and returns for more.
Those wheels, those dreadful wheels, those death wheels. Let’s face the facts now, and turn around. For why would you let sin forever hold you down? Repent, quit, be baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of sins and receive the Holy Ghost and He will escort you in!

For context, i started putting myself out there and did a Christian dating app a few months before i turned 29. I'm a virgin, didnt really know a lot about men, had one guy cheat on me, met a few bad apples. But I've met someone who is solid and down for me. Keep praying ladies. God can do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and the effectual, fervent prayers of a righteous man avail much (James 5:16). The Bible upholds both marriage and singleness IN THE LORD as a GIFT. Both states of being present believers with unique challenges, unique joys, unique means for growth in grace, and unique opportunities to honor, love, and serve the Lord and reflect Him to others that one may never experience in the other marital. We need to be careful about injecting some of our personal bias into this subject and confusing this with God's preference. This is a problem within the Church even among sound pastors and teachers. Every scripture that teaches on marriage is exalted and singleness is conceded as having some benefits but still being less desirable. That's actually NOT what the bible teaches. Some confuse Jesus as saying that only those with a grace called "the gift of singleness" should remain single when what He actually taught was that singleness itself was also gift, though not all will receive this revelation. and this is certainly the case within the Church. Sound exegesis focuses equally on the blessings and pitfalls of both states while also recognizing both singleness and marriage as a gift that can be offered up to the Lord. Because that is what scripture does! My point is that there are no second-class Christians based on marital status and neither marriage nor singleness can make one believer inherently more obedient, holy, self-controlled, and fruitful than another. The key qualifier is that we navigate marital state by remaining "in the Lord" according to His Word. ❤

I have been abstaining from any sexual activity or dating for the past 3 1/2 years and I will say I am considering remaining single throughout my walk simply because i don’t know if marriage is something that the Lord even has for me, and it seems extremely difficult at this age during such a transitional phase of my life to even meet someone let alone get married.

Kirk should have gave Cam Newton this poem

I think you may have missed the point here as a married man. This isn't explained by Kirk Franklin and he may not have been the best person to do so. Therefore as a single 30 year old christian woman, never dated or had sex, I would appreciate being able to elaborate on my experiences as a women who has experienced life long singleness and has also been a Christian her whole life. And before you write this off, I do not have the gift of celibacy which is far too often conflated with the gift of singleness. However, I must abstain in obidience to God. The gift of singleness is literally that it is a gift and should you be able to live life in a God-honouring way, you can experience the benefits of being unmarried (one of which is being concerned of the things of the Lord whereas a married person is concerned with the things of this world and how to please their spouse - 1 Corinthians 7:32-34)
Definition of weponised - exploited for the purpose of attacking a person or group, or for spreading discord. The group that is being attacked in this case is the single christian (in particular women) often by married people placing marriage on a higher pedestal than it needs to be to make themselves feel better than the single person.
The point that I would like to add here is that marriage although a good thing is not guaranteed to all Christians. Marriage is a gift from God like the story of the denarius, not something that we are entitled to because we have lust issues or simply want a spouse like we want a to purchase a house.
Growing up, whether you like it or not, the message of "good Christians get married, bad ones remain single" was taught subtly so the desire to get married to prove that you are a good Christian woman especially is there. There clearly not enough Christian men to marry the multitude of single Christian women in churches. What a lot of people then go on to say is you should desire marriage and get married, but to which men? Unless there is a gender specifc revival bringing men to Christ, the Church needs to start getting very comfortable with a higher number of singles instead of gaslighting them suggesting that they are a problem if they are not married leading women especially into despair or easily explotable with silly seminars and sermons on how to find your spouse. Single women are a very exploited market in Christendom and married people should be doing more to support them in building and fostering friendships instead of pushing singles only into romantic relationships. Not every single is out here being wild or unmarried because they have no morals. In fact a lot of us are out here because the women refuse to compromise but the men are far and few between or there is massive compromise from men leading to an absolute shortage.
The question isn't should Chritsians get married but should singles be treated as second class citizens in the body of Christ. Unless married people are actively including single people in friendships and discussions they are weaponising their status against them making them vulnerable to the lies of the enemy.

That's the real trust issue. All dating is, is the vetting process. It shouldn't work with everybody, that's what makes finding a wife so special. Just because the commandments were in the old Testament does not mean you are to throw the scriptures away, we still have to honor all of God's commandments and God made those commandments not Paul. And, scriptures says, God hates divorce, in Malichi 2:16. And God said all formicators and adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians rinthians 6:9. All of these scriptures were God's word. God honors marriage the scriptures says. So, if God did not honor marriage he would not have put it in the commandments and said all sexual immorality you will not inherit the kingdom of God. So you are wring and twisting God's word for Paul's word. God honored Adam and Eve the first marriage in the beginning of Genesis, 2::23. If you remain sigle you must stay celibate and not have sex period. This is God's word not Paul's. It's better to marry if you cannot obstain from sex, that's what it means, it's better to marry than to burn.

As someone who used to be under the it's better to marry than burn,BRIDGE. I wish i knew better then. I wonder now why the church didn't go equally as hard as to preach and teach that God can and will keep us from sexual sin. God will never require us to do a thing that he hasn't made provision for. Perhaps some of the preachers were struggling themselves and this is why that doctrine wasn't taught as hard. I think it did the church a disservice.

I listened to the whole interview and Kirk is right. You will have to listen to the whole interview to understand what he was saying. He was stating that the church pushes the narrative of marriage too much which makes singles feel less valuable to be used in ministry within the church. The Apostle Paul himself is single according to 1 Corinthians 7. So therefore I agree with what Kirk was saying! The interview I’m referring to is the one with Lecrae btw.

    • @unworthyServant08
      @unworthyServant08 28 дней назад +10

I've only listened to the snippet here, and well... It's hard to overstate the importance of marriage, as the FIRST commandment God ever gave mankind, was to be fruitful and multiply. God even said that it is NOT GOOD for man to be alone. Hence the creation of the woman.
Being single is certainly treated by God as the exception and not the norm. However, in these times, we are trying to treat the exception as the norm, especially as we lose hope in finding partners in a world that prioritizes sexual immorality in all its forms.
Also, I do not think making marriage a goal lessens the value of a single person (though some may certainly look down on unmarried folk), but there are valid reasons to be married, as Corey mentioned some, that are a blessing to those involved, as well as to the body: companionship, responsibility, selflessness, stability, education, child-rearing, sexual sanctification (which means running away from the sin of sexual immorality), and the advancement of the Kingdom. Being single in the church is not wrong, but it ought to be a desire for those who wish to love the Lord with their entire being.
The first place where evangelization begins in the household. Remember, God first told Abraham to teach his household the commands and statutes of the Lord, not to go about proclaiming Him among the heathens. And if a stranger wishes to join his household, they would have to submit themselves to those same commands and statutes the Lord gave him.

    • @unworthyServant08
      @unworthyServant08 28 дней назад +8

Also, if I may ask, could you share some of the reasons why singles would prefer not to be married? I'd like to better understand the resistance to marriage, other than the church "pushing" that narrative "too much."

In the west, unlike in the rest of the world, religion has so used marriage as THE only way for a man to be complete and live his full God given potential and calling. If one is not then married by a certain number of years, then the church basically let's them occupy a sear, but not fellowship with the body. Doesn't matter if they have a relationship with Jesus, and understand more revelation then the average believer. That isn't enough, they need to also be married in the church's eyes. Just look at going into a minister position. Religion doesn't take them seriously unless they have a wife. It should be based off of loving God's Word, and calling and being able to hear from God clearly, but the church has become more worldly and so, relationship with Jesus is not enough for them. They need to always hold marriage in some way or another .

The goal should not be actions to check a box and look "Christian". Too many do that nowadays. The goal is to do things correctly, i.e. when you get married and have children - be faithful, loving, honorable, righteous and just. Dont just get married, but marry for the right reasons, to the right person, and do it correctly. Same with kids - dont just have them, but raise them correctly and righteously. It does not matter what you do, but it does matter how you do it. I respect a person who never married, had kids, and lived a righteous life as opposed to a believer with a miserable marriage and pitiful children.

If I'm too afraid to commit to one person by marrying them, how does it make sense to commit to making a human being with them and be completely ok with abandoning both whenever the expectations exceed their willingness to sacrifice what it takes to stay married?
I'm twice divorced and have an adult child.
I am a new christian and now choose to remain single and celibate so I can focus as much as possible on my Lord.
But this is not how I use to think before and that thinking didn't bring me anything but heartbreak.
And all who call themselves christians should feel a need to read the bible.
I mean, nobody needs to try to convince me to want to spend time with someone I adore, so why should anyone have to tell me to want to know more about the one I say I love and belong to?
I dont mean to judge, but to make you see that He is the treasure! 🥰 Not his blessings nor his creation, but Him! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 His word is all we trully have concrete at the tip of our fingers. When others are dying to just get to hear or read a verse in secret due to persecution.
He tells us who he is, what he wants, what he promises his children, what pleases him or angers him. What is offensive so we may love him the way he deserves to be loved and much more.
He tells it all... But do we really wamt to know him? The one who gave his life for us? The only one who will never leave us nor forsake us? The only one who loves us unconditionally.
Salvation is conditional, but not his love.
We have and will betray him, we will prioritize him last if at all. 😭😭😭
Do we really want to settle for the fractuted version of him that suits our expectaions. 💔
Or do we really want to seek to experience as much of his glory as he wishes to grant us? ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
I tell you, if I find something in scripture that I disagree with or dont understand, then I need to be corrected or I need to understand.

Yes there are issues within the body of Christ regarding how marriage and singleness is viewed but this is not something peculiar to the church. Wisdom says a pastor is married and marriage counselling should be something offered to couples particularly young ones. Yes Kirk has made good points in this area but Kirk is all kinds of wrong just in this interview. Kirk talks about still experiencing trauma every day yet he still claims to minister for Christ, something is wrong.
