Did this many times 25 years ago, nice trip down memory lane. Thankyou. As someone has commented, you used to come out of the tunnel straight onto a really small ledge before going down a 45 degree slope. So not that difficult. I switched to snowboarding and have never been back to Alpes D'Huez, which although is very pretty, does get slushy (and then refrozen slush). This reminds me how much I use to enjoy skiing. Many of these runs there are too many flats for snowboarders which does limit one.

I think the Tunnel got it's reputation as one of the most difficult slopes in the Alps about 30 years ago. At that time you came out of the tunnel and straight into a steep top section which was often moguled. (with no place to stand and plan a route) Often the unsuspecting flew out of the tunnel not expecting it to drop away and skied straight off the edge into other skiers causing carnage. Nowadays with that run out track after the tunnel exit I'm sure it is less feared.

That was a great run. I love how you just skied it, not stopping for breaks along the way. The pitch on the top part of the trail reminded me of Outer Limits in Killington Vermont. The snow or rather ice conditions also reminded me of New England skiing. Great lines and great photography. I can't wait to hit the slopes this year if possible.

Why all the dislikes?! Awesome footage and awesome skiing. It's way steeper than it looks on the vid. When I was there folk couldn't even get down the narrow path at the top of the lift next to the viewpoint. I wouldn't risk it. Is that on a Hero 7? Way more stable than anything I get from my 5. 👍👊

Hi @Gosforth Handyman thanks for the comment. I use the Gopro 7 black the Hypersmooth does work really well. Next year I am going to take a 360 VR camera down the tunnel so for the few that have VR headsets they should be able to see the gradient better. 👍👊

I came here assuming it would be an amazing video because RUclips recommended it to me despite me having never watched a ski video. But it was just average, didn’t live up to expectations that RUclips gave me. Probably lots of people like me disliked it, and that’s RUclips’s fault not the skiers fault.
