I don't really follow ASU news at all, so I didn't know they weren't going to have their leading receiver for this game. But I do know that, if that's the case, there's really no overstating just how massive that loss is. To say that he is their QB's primary target just doesn't do it justice. It's not like a situation where you have a WR leading his team in reception yards and another 1 or 2 receivers with a couple hundred less yards, but still significant yardage on their own, a situation where there are a couple of obvious possible choices to step up and fill their leading receiver's shoes. It's not like that at all here. I only know this because I just saw the stat a few minutes ago in another video previewing this game. But you have Jordyn Tysen, the receiver who is apparently out, leading the team with around 1,100 yards. Then Cam Skattebo is 2nd in rec yards at around 500. After him, 3rd on the team overall, 2nd from the WR position, Guillory with 320 yards. Obviously Skattebo can help out catching passes out of the backfield, as he's apparently done all season, but it's not like he's going to line up in the WR position to fill in for that element of ASU's passing game. There's almost an 800 yard gap between Tysen and the next WR. He doesn't just lead the team, he has more receiving yards than the next 4 WRs combined. Maybe one of the other guys will step up and rise to the occasion. But with what Tysen means for this team's passing game, gonna be some extremely difficult shoes to fill, especially considering it's going to be against what will be by far the best defense they've faced.
