too funny!!! LOL!! ...I hope Keef sees this because some of the songs you played were not played in open G but Keef is transposing a lot of the songs to open G now!! Good job amigo...
Open G is the greatest tuning ever invented after Double D. Neil Young nails down Double D on Cinnamon Girl and countless other tunes. He loves the Stones. It's only Rock n Roll but I fucking love it! Great demo brother!
fabulous ! straight up, no nonsense, nail on the head playing ............. cheers, thanks. (I can't stand those vids where the guy picks up the guitar, sits down, asks "howya doin'?", plugs in the jack plug and starts by telling you about the Kief secret tuning)
I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! Just found this during latest 'open-tuning' adventure. Very inspirational! Do you think Mick Jagger has a 'Pavlovian-response' when he hears 'Open-G'? (Starts involuntarily singing & dancing) lol. -Dave B
@@PD-jj4fo I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! Are you referring to 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' or 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'? Cuz the former was definitely Open-G. The latter: I'm not sure. I have played it both ways. It sounds good both ways. Peace. Stay Healthy! - Dave B.
Great video! Check out these 5 string Open G variations, and you'll be glad you did: 1. Starting with your standard Open G tuning, drop the B string half a step for Open G minor (G D G A# D) 2. Starting with your standard Open G tuning, drop the low G string to an E for super jazzy/(added 6th) barre chords (E D G B D)
Hey Ignacio Lo admiro, Le gusta Keith Richards Como. Que clase Squire is esa guitarra, the Squire Deluxe? Me puede decir. Note que Usted Le quito El E string..
Ignacio Martínez I do this a bit differently this time. I tune my Guitar to Open E & put a capo on the 3rd fret to get Open G Tuning w/ an additional High String (G, D, G, B, D, G) which is a little bit uncommon but it sounds much clearer too. The High G completes the Chord w/ more sparkle & clarity.
@@Jdizzle6969 Actually he's switching over to that & it's called Open G Terz Tuning so it's the same tuning but w/ a Hgh G on the top which dds a bit more high end. I've done that on a Reverend Billy Corgan Terz Guitar tuned to Open G Terz Tuning which is basically like playing in Open E w/ a capo on the 3rd Fret.
A "Squier" man .... awwwww righteee ... it is the player that counts ! It is said that Hendrix used one/them. F'ing great man ! I just keep banging at my old Squier and feel really good about it. Your licks are spot on !

Pretty impressive considering that many of these tunes were recorded before Keith started playing in open tunings. Also many of the post 1968-tracks like Respectable and Beast of Burden were still recorded in standard tuning. Keith doesn't play in open tunings on most RS songs.
Yes, but Keith adapted many songs to open G for playing live all over the years. For example, "Let's Spend the Night Together". In "Beast of Burden"or "Respectable", i choose open G for my own way.
Obviously, some of these tunes like "Let's Spend The Night Together" and "Under My Thumb" were written before Keef had ever discovered open tunings, but you can certainly play songs written in a regular tuning in many different tunings.
"G" is supposedly the first chord tuned to by Native Hawaiians, the folks most say creatured the FIRST GUITARS... Keith uses it because you can do so much WITH IT. 🎲🐉🎲
That is really great - especially the idea to put them all together like that. While I'm here....can anyone show me where I can find a chord chart for open G - left handed though.........................Thanks ! Great job !
I appreciate the reply, thanks, I have spent a lot of time on google and left handed chord charts are there in abundance, but not in open G, or open E, for that matter, they are all in standard concert tuning. as to whether it makes a difference............McCartney is left handed. Lennon was right handed. According to McCartney that was great for working / composing together as they could sit facing each other, and their fret boards were facing each other as if into a mirror. Thanks for the reply though !
Step one - get left handed chord chard Step two - save it Step three - flip it mirrored Step four - chird chart for left handed guitar Step five - enjoy blues
Hey man , your cheating ( your playing with 6 strings , haha), Same key ,but every song sounds different ,simplicity ,, that’s the secret genius of any good player. ( do you think he could’ve nicked that “g thing from a guy named chuck perhaps ha )?
I'm fascinated by the fact that your guitar doesn't even have a peg for the 6th string - it's a pure, dedicated, Rolling Stones guitar.
Love it,, in the process of building one myself..
Also it is a telecaster model.
Just needs a flipped humbucker at the neck
Open G is amazing. Turns your guitar into a PURE Rock and roll BLUES machine.

Congratulation, Rolling Stones Open G, by Mr. Keith Richard. God job.
Open G that's right we're removing the thick e string off the guitar and tuning it like a standard banjo, that's G, D, G, B, D.
Fantastic!
This is awesome
It's shit... listen
