@@nflnews9011 The passthrough camera quality looks about right, even has the same stereo reconstruction glitches the Quest has. The actual rendered content is less accurate, but impossible to visually represent in video just from eye buffers as they don't give a correct sense of scale. In real-world comparison terms the Quest 2 is capable of rendering a cinema-sized virtual display at 1080p clearly and 27-32" 720p screens at about a distance of ~2 meters away. The large scale of the virtual displays in the video (easier to perceive because it's from a simulated third person perspective) reflect this.

In a world riddled with depression, lack of connection, intimacy, and compassion. This isn’t the technology I’m going to invest in. We need to physically see our friends, give someone a real hug. This type of escape might be cool for a short time, but this will lead to feeling more lonely and feeling further separated from the world that’s becoming more detached by the day. When safe and possible, go see someone outside of the screen, friends!
It doesn't seem like you've tried it. VR is the best connecting technology that can ultimately exist, because it puts people in the same space together as if they are physically together. Yes, there is no physical touch but eventually your full body will be represented expressions and all. Besides, think of all the people who can't meet in real life because of physical barriers whether that's the pandemic, money reasons, too far away, no time, or disabilities stopping them. There are literal VR sign language classes going on as we speak with full classrooms of people in the same virtual space actually learning things and having compassion for one another.

Screen images simulated o that’s comforting
Loki it says screen simulated at the bottom
@@nflnews9011 The passthrough camera quality looks about right, even has the same stereo reconstruction glitches the Quest has. The actual rendered content is less accurate, but impossible to visually represent in video just from eye buffers as they don't give a correct sense of scale. In real-world comparison terms the Quest 2 is capable of rendering a cinema-sized virtual display at 1080p clearly and 27-32" 720p screens at about a distance of ~2 meters away. The large scale of the virtual displays in the video (easier to perceive because it's from a simulated third person perspective) reflect this.

Vert nation Either connect it wirelessly or directly connect it (preferable) to your gaming pc.
@@vertnation4902 yes, I mean technically you can load any android mobile game onto the quest, the thing is that even the quest 2 won't be powerful enough to run that many interesting flatscreen games, and even if it were there are still software incompatibility issues since it runs android, so people would have to make games in a desktop style specifically for the quest which doesn't even make sense
Xcloud works with it.
Having used virtual desktop on my VR, let me tell you that it's not always great for working in. After about 30 minutes, your eyes will get strained. That said, it's cool having an office that looks like it's floating in space. Gaming in VR is much much better though, just need more content!

I know it would be pretty cool to use a VR headset everyday for work but I can't imagine this actually being easier to use than a laptop or a desktop. I don't see VR headsets being used for anything but gaming maybe this idea will be usable with AR glasses in 10 years.
I heard that some people are using VR for work presentation or online school
Potential is there if you want to go on a trip somewhere while working remotely and you won't have access to a large or multi monitor setup. This is huge for remote work, stupid for use out of office or home office

It is AR... ish. Just passed through the cameras instead of through waveguide. And since there is no technology in existence that can black out the background this is the only way to have "solid" virtual monitors without the BG bleeding through.

1. How can we make VR games of our own?
2. Unless anyone is a retro lover, we need some colors in the background.
3. So this VR gear is with AR eh? Good.
4. How about a virtual meeting system for people when they are doing business?
5. A keypad wirelessly connected to the VR equipment? Yu-Gi-Oh, Skylanders, Bakugan, Digimon, Pokemon, and others we do love, here we come.
6. You guys will need a 3D scanner system for the VR avatars in the near or far future. Savvy?
1. Try Unity if you know JavaScript, if not look into rec room
2. I personally don’t think we really need color for passthrough mode it’s just more expanse on oculus
3. Yes, Both the Rift S, Quest, and Quest 2 have AR capabilities
4. They launched a trailer for what is essentially VR zoom (ruclips.net/video/opsyzzHMJ3o/видео.html)
5. They probably will eventually
@@sludgy5134 doesnt unity use the C family? another alternative is using a webxr based engine to make vr applications, they are a lot easier to load because you just do it via browser
As shown at 0:43 you actually can choose different (coloured) virtual spaces. It's just that you can't have coloured passthrough, which is fair enough.
