- John Surtees is the only man to be World Champion on two wheels and four. A seven time motorcycle World Champion and one time Formula One World Champion. A new season of Grand Prix started on Friday 26th March 2021, MotoGP and F1 are the premier classes of motorcycle racing and for that of cars. In the comfort of his garden in Sandleheath (Fordingbridge) in Hampshire, Murray Walker remembers his legendary friend fondly with Keith Huewen. RIP Graeme Murray Walker OBE 10/10/23 - 13/03/2021. RIP John Surtees CBE 11/02/34 - 10/03/2017.
Murray's ability to remember detail was absolutely astonishing. It was an absolute pleasure to listen to him being given the respect to answer fully without interruption. Well done Keith and thank you.
I am lucky enough to have enjoyed Murray's company on many occasions, he's a man that you just HAD to respect! He's a national treasure.
I've watched this again to remind me of how both Murray Walker and John Surtees were such great Englishmen . Thank you
Thankyou for allowing Murray to just talk, and for showing how a skilled interviewer can achieve so much by gentle direction rather than forcing an agenda.
What David Attenborough is to the natural world, Murray Walker is to Motorsport. Quite how he never got a Knighthood is an absolute disgrace in my eyes.
On a different note, His memory and recollection of events are legendary.
Thanks Keith 👍 That was a great, respectful interview without interruption. More of these please.
R.I.P. Murray Walker 🙏
Aye but Attenborough is a prick these day pushing his agenda down everyone’s throats.
Murray Walker has been offered a knighthood on two separate occasions.
He turned both of them down, saying,
"I don't believe I am worthy of a Knighthood. I have done nothing to deserve one. I took part in a war, but I don't see myself as a hero, I was just doing my job. The same goes for my commercial career.
Of course, it's nice to be admired, respected, and remembered, and I am very grateful and immensely proud to be honoured with an OBE, a doctorate, and to have a Star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars.'

Thanks Keith for a wonderful interview. R.I.P Mr Walker you absolute diamond of a man
God bless ya Murray
Boy could you spot talent!!
Good night SIR Murray Walker
Fantastic interview, a legend discussing a legend. Thank you!
amazing historical interview, thank you. I missed your commentating last weekend in Qatar but enjoy your time away.
Brilliant Keith - just brilliant
I’m so sad to hear that Murray Walker is no longer with us he will be sadly missed
Brilliant interview, Keith! Shame it didn't last 3 hrs! Would love to see a full unedited version with ALL the video that was shot on the day, but this will do.
A lot of due respect going on there 👍👏 really nice to listen to.
I wish I could have spent an afternoon talking to Murray Walker!
Keep uploading Keith, the algorithm is a cruel mistress...but not as cruel as motorsport!
Im onboard and sharing!!
RIP Murray Walker 1923-2021
Thank you for such a wonderful video. As Keith said, I could have listened to Murray's stories for hours on end. R.I.P. Murray and John.
Brilliant interview.More please Keith.
His memory from 60+ years ago was staggering
RIP John surtees 1934-2017
I miss Murray 😢
That was a quick half-hour.
Hi, Keith Huewen. Please return to BT Sport. After watching the first round of races (GP, Moto 2 and Moto 3) of 2021 I thought perhaps I was mistaken that they weren't very good. But after the second round it was clear. Even Moto 3 was a bit dull. It shouldn't be the case but it is: the commentator makes the difference. Although Gavin Emmett is a good co-commentator, motorcycle racing needs someone who can talk at 200mph to lead the commentary.
(Thanks for uploading this Murray Walker interview, by the way.)
A great interview. One correction - 'Big John' got pissed off with Ferrari in 1966, not 1965, right after he won the 1966 Belgin Grandprix in torrential rain conditions.
Missing you on BT Sport, although the Gavin and Stacey (Hodge) show is a good double act. Anyway, as the others have said, great interview.
John couldn't afford to be nice. He had to do what he did in order to win. If you got to know him, he was an exceptional man
Hello Mr. Keith,
I have a few questions about doing what you do. Do you have any place I can contact you?
Quite right that J Surtees should have had a knighthood. Way ahead in the queue before L Hamilton. Only one person should be ahead in motor racing circles, that is J Stewart, and he has one.
I hated Keith when he first started with BT, I just didn’t like him in Joules. Once Joules left I really grew to like him, now he’s gone I miss him more. Shame. Murray legend of course.
can i get in contact with kieth?
Murray got a 3 things wrong in this video
1. Eric Oliver was a 4x world champion not 2x
2. John should have won the title in 1966 not 1965 because Jim Clark trashed everyone that year and John got kicked out of Ferrari in 1966
3. My hero the great Michael Schumacher knew more about the history about Ferrari than Murray thought
I’m 23 years old and I never forget things like that because I’m even more motorsport mad than good old Murray
But one thing Murray certainly got right in this video was the fact that John Surtees is an absolute legend and criminally underrated
Both of you legends🙏John too🙏thank you🙏
