Carl Fogarty a fantastic one of our most iconic riders an absolute star of the sport who comes over as a very honest straight down to earth guy superb 👌👍
I'll stick my neck out here and say that between Carl dominating WSBK on the 916 and the great racing we had at the same time in BSB, it helped revitalise British motorcycling back in the mid 90s.
Great interview, always love listening to Carl. Big part of my motorcycling life watching him win in the 90's at Donnington, Brands at the TT and the Bol'dor.👍
What a great time that was watching WSB, I saw every race live on tv, use to go up in the middle of the night to watch some of them, I was watching the MotoGP also, still have since 89, but MotoGP got a bit dull with Honda and Doohan dominating for so many years, so that WSB was so great at the time was marvelous, also loved the format with two races, gave the runners up a chance to win the next one. I was more of a Scott Russel fan and love the look of the racing green Muzzy Kawasaki, that green color really popped, also the rivalry between Russel and Fogarty was great, even Russel was my man I always liked Carl, he was an outstanding rider and fully deserved his championship wins. Great interview this 👍🏻 Looking forward to the next one.
Great Interview, Thanks to all involved and of course, Keith is a Class Act ! p.d This might be like a Dentist session for the King: Scary, but you feel relieved at the end. His expression at min. 43:52 is very telling !
I’m 41, I remember my Dad loved king Carl, he was just a little bit before my time, Tosland went to my sisters flat warming in Rotherham and I was star struck. Carl come across like he’s a proper bloke no nonsense
Glad to see Carl's not a tax exile. (or a Davos elite, I hope?) Imagined it might be him that burned the speed camera on the A59, but it was probably the Gypos up the road at Clayton-le-dale? Good one Carl.
Thats the era Superbikes got its deserved reputation as being better than GP, as Foggy said. It continued since, but isn't true, but was then, and Foggy was just an awesome figure amongst it. Him and the 916 are synonymous. Would like the question who he rated amongst that era of superbike riders. I remember Foggy being asked what he thought when he followed Gobert around, and he answered, where he's going to park it. For mine Foggy and Gobert were the two greatest superbike riders, Foggy more successful of course, and enigmatic. Bayliss replaced Foggy and he was amazing too.
He mentioned in another chat like this that he rates Slight as the hardest guy to beat (and that he would've won a world championship if he hadn't stuck with Honda)
It's funny when I see Carl and Keith talking I allways remember watching wsbk race 1 at hokenheim 96 Carl got a terrible start he was swapping places with Paulo cassoli I think it was in mid pack and Keith was saying Foggy is a shadow of his former self and how his team mate Arron slight was doing a much better job I wonder has Carl ever heard that I bet he'd knock Keith out if he did 😂
It makes me laugh when people talk about THE GOAT, and say Rossie, Doohan, Surtees, Hailwoods, Dunlop etc etc. For me Foggy is up amongst them,,, 4 WC and TT success.
Racing is not the same nowadays without guys like Carl and the rivalries he had, it's just not the same and I really miss that part of racing. Why does everyone have to be friends ?
Was a great admirer of Carl back in the day; I remember a day at Donington at World Superbikes when Corser had got away early in the race and a couple of girls in the stand were shouting for Corser every lap. Once Carl had started to recover from a less than good start I started shouthing to them "Carl is coming". Needless to say Carl caught Corser and won the race so I didn't get Xmas cards from those girls. I saw the accident that finished his career live on TV and was totally ticked off with the other rider. When Carl's book came out i took time out to visit the local W H Smiths where he was signing copies, for a fee of course. I was very disappointed to find Carl disinterested and grumpy about taking our cash. Stuck with me as much as his achievements.
I remember watching wsbk when foggy and slight were battling it out,im a kiwi so was an Slight fan that was till i was out in Wellington nz one night and Aaron was at the same bar of course i was like ill go talk to him so i went over to say hi but once i got over to say hi he started mocking me for obviously being a bit Star stuck, after that i was no so much of a fan , but you know what they say never meet your heroes
Motorbike racing needs characters like Carl Foggerty or Guy Martin. Without stand out characters like these men , motorbike racing would be a bit mediocre. For example, look at the way Valentino Rossi made a massive difference to the spectator attendance numbers at MotoGp races.
I loved watching Foggy race but his is right up there with the easiest riders to turn off the tv on when he starts chuntering, the ego the excuses the brashness makes forget how good he rode , extremely Marmite!!!
Grow old gracefully died hair never looks real i know i tried it once!!!! Like Foggy as a rider but not the most interesting interview digging up the past.

That’s the man right there FOGGY NO1 👑 Respect 🤙🏼
Absolutely fantastic, Keith, you always know the right questions to ask!

Back in them days Grand Prix racing was garbage
Carl is a proper gent. He signed my Ducati for me when he opened a local dealers in Batley and was a delight to speak to. Shook my hand too!
Fantastic pod cast lads my hero Carl fogarty can't wait for part 2
I was in the Paddock as a kid , I remember racing round tracks we'd made Carl had an XR70, I had a TY80. Hello Carl, from Nick Upton
Carl was my sporting hero back in the 90s and the reason I got into bikes to begin with.
Brilliant love every minute of interview
Great interview, always love listening to Carl. Big part of my motorcycling life watching him win in the 90's at Donnington, Brands at the TT and the Bol'dor.👍
What a brilliant idea, I will have a beer with you while I watch.🍺

Icon..... with both feet still on the ground

Five - he won the '92 world endurance championship with Terry Rymer
Barman should have brought the beers out in a dressing gown 😂
Was looking forward to this but the sound is shite😢

Absolutely loved this, please see my comments on Part 2.

I hope that is not Coors! The constant bubbles has me fucking worried! Lol! Oh... and no beer mat? Who is that barman?

Carl should dye his hair like Keith.. 😁
No, it starts to look desperate, like you can't accept that ageing process.
It's not a bloody fashion show.
You can see Carl is not enjoying this. Great channel anyway. Keep it up
He just doesn’t look comfortable at all doing this interview
Carl has never seemed comfortable with interviews. I met him once and he seemed painfully shy.

Carl drinking shandy, guess he had to drive home.

Love ye Keith, but ah wouldnae sit next tae him on a bus never mind spend a night wi him in the pub. Great bike rider but a bit o a fandan.
