This is what I love about concerts, the feeling you get from a single song may be enough to change the way you think forever...Concerts are one powerful thing
John does an exceptional job here I think It's obvious he's struggling, whether it's vocal fatigue, an early hint of the granuloma etc I still think he did an amazing job, still giving his all both vocally and instrumentally and for that, I have nothing but the utmost respect for him Get well soon John, the world is waiting
I respect everything about this man, I've always aspired to reach his philosophical heights. In the quest to do so, I've watched nearly every interview he has ever given and I strive over these bits and nibbles of genius that complement his live performances. Now I feel that sometimes, when I'm emotional, I do talk like him and express myself just as he does; It's nice but somehow I notice that I'm no longer genuinely myself and my character has slightly drifted. I lost a bit myself but I gained a lot of wisdom from this man, I'm okay with that. Thank you John !
@@anuragmohnot715 check out “someday I’ll fly” a documentary of JM by Eastwood Allen (if I remember his name correctly, sorry if I don’t), it’s a masterpiece
Now this, is, the, BEST JM Live performance to ever exist in my opinion, this has defined and captured the past few months of my life, and I'm grateful for this to the extent that I possibly can't express in words. Just watch the whole video, hear out the whole song, and feel yourself fall in love and solace..
Saw him 3 times in March 2010, twice in September 2010, he had back trouble in September so his voice was fine and he said some hilarious things. Best show IMO was the one closest to me in New Orleans in March. Wish he'd done this one then as it's my favorite one. "Just a great figure 8 or a tiny infinity... "
i love how people judge someone based off of one performance. he has performed hundreds of times, this one isn't one to judge him highly on. actually since recovering from his surgery he has been sounding better than ever
Here's the deal. John sang well off par during this concert but it was during his public suicide and his growth in his throat. I just saw him at Red Rocks on the 16th and he not only nailed every vocal note but he destroyed the guitar. He has also become much more humble, letting his bandmates solo a lot. It's safe to say it was the best night of my life.
He`s not the best singer of our times but the one of the best guitarist and songwriters for sure! He`s play and words of songs that he writes are like an emotional bomb..!
When I saw him twice in early September 2010, he has a serious back injury and was on pain meds. He was still as awesome as the 3 times I saw him earlier in the year in March!
Pretty crazy love my favorite edge of desire wow that was a tour !!! So much energy like Lightning @johnmayer Thunder and lightnin collided with each other👍🧨🧨🧨 It was like dynamite🧨🧨🧨❤👏❤👏❤👀👀👀
to be able to play that riff while singing... that's why John Mayer is one of the greats! a feat that Ed Sheeran can never never do even with his loop pedal..facts
its been almost 3 years damn I miss that crazy ( love) damn I missed it Crazy Love John bring that good days _when we were crazy in loveI had my little jealous🖕 I loved all the desireswith in me but crazy in lovebring back those days crazy crazy love 💏
+Ida Williams John .I will say I do ... I don't care if it's in the Central Park are Paradise Valley....love you babe ! and all these memories and photographs beautiful life no goodbye ! DAMN. .. what happened to us here one of us got on the wrong train going in the wrong direction don't you agree. ??? #johnmayer 👫
@Stefandurrr I saw it live. And it was an encore and it's my favorite song of his and I didn't think he'd play it. And it was at Red Rocks. And I had just come out the worst breakup of my life. Justified now?
@mitchellshaw I'm aware that after the personnel line up that was with him through the late heavier things/continuum era through to early battle studies had left, he suffered a bit. I think he needed to re-find himself a bit and I believe, as you say, he is great again. I think he probably got a writers/performers block. Fell out d love with it for a whole. It happens. I'm glad. His album work never stops being fantastic through everything though.
Yeah me too. maybe cause of the fact that he was drunk/stoned during this concert, which caused that his voice was worse, but his guitar skills were 120% :D Sorry for my english
Until people realize you can get same feeling from being straight / sober the world will be a lot more free. Haters going to hate commet what ever , that's the usual response .. but people that understand won't comment, well negatively.
@MEtalgear400 Yeah, like you said, his voice must have been so tired. I think he was at his peak around April - May '10. I saw him in April expecting his performance to be similar to his earlier leg of the our. I was proven completely wrong as he was spot on with his performance vocal-wise and everything else. Check out some of the videos from his Vancouver stop.
oh god, I totally agree. love most of his work, but the videos from this era are mostly cringeworthy. Where The Light Is shows him at his absolute best. Battle Studies, while a perfectly good record, was pretty mediocre. it still has some really strong songs though, Edge of Desire is a perfect example. i wish him all the best and that his next album and tour become as beautiful as the Continuum-era.
Is it just me, or does it seem like the audio is a little weird on this? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful performance. John is pouring his art out into this and playing with so much soul, but some things are a little off. It seems like his vocal is super dry, and his guitar sound a bit thin. Idk, could be because of RUclips, just sounds a bit weird. Maybe I’m hearing things
His singing isn't perfect in this, but to be fair its the last song of a set which he has really been using his voice in... You'd be knackered.. Also that to play and his that song sounds quite hard...
@listyspisty ha what do you know you are right! Just looked it up - I assumed cos Buble called his album crazy love that it was his song! wtf aye? That's why Mayer is awesome, cos he's such a good writer
“I don’t know all the answers I’m just a dude who guessed a couple of right ones.”
I love John Mayer with all of my heart.
Can anyone appreciate how hard it is to sing this song while plucking that guitar the way he did? This is so hard to do!
almost at the level of impossible by normal human guitarist
He is born for that... just incredible 😍🤩
Practice, practice, practice
how can you talk while doing that?
Anthony Catbagan yes I can barely walk and chew gum. 😂
"My brain takes what my heart wants to say and adds some other stuff to it that's not important."

The way he sings the second verse in this version. Pure perfection.
Why do people have to judge anyone, look in your mirror think about it.
The guitar in this song makes my heart dance
Mayer is a special musician. This performance proves it.

All the way to the edge of desire

The best part about this song is how raw and passionate it is and you get that from the recording and especially live
His vocals on this song has such passion and despair. What a beautiful song about love, hope and the edge of desire.

I've never seen John play so wasted. I love it.
The whole gig. If he wasn't "high by god" as James Brown once said, he was completely stoned.
Drunk, stoned or sober, this is great haha. I mean, I've never seen him play with that much soul.
Zara Radge I completely agree!
+Lean Bravo lol i think he mentioned it in the gravity performance that he was high on some meds that helps his back pain

My favorite JM solo. So much emotion he puts in that guitar.

Agreed!
