I just bought a 2024 AWD model 3 and I freaking love this car. Other than trying to get all my charging plugs situated at the house it's drama free. FSD hack, during the day wear sunglasses and it won't ask you to touch the wheel nearly as much.
The latest versions, including as seen in this video, do not require hands on the steering wheel. The system uses the cabin camera to watch your eyes and reminds you to keep your eyes on the road if you look in the wrong direction for you long.
@@Kevin-xk9vi exactly. I can actually bear this guy because he isnt super excitable and he doesnt have all the extra cuts and editing. he keeps it raw and real and i appreciate it fs
You can setup another profile with Autosteer enabled. Then you will be able to switch back and forth between Autosteer and FSD while driving by just changing the profile
FSD has changed my attitude toward driving. Until about a year ago, I would have said that I’m not interested in self-driving cars, because I really enjoy driving. Then I had my first ever (non-trivial) accident in 47 years of driving. Nobody was hurt, and there was no damage to the stationary object I hit. There was considerable damage to our car though (not our Tesla). However, that accident took a lot of the fun out of driving! So I really appreciate FSD allowing me to relax a lot in terms of the minute details of driving, so that I can concentrate instead more upon searching my environment for sources of danger - pedestrians, bicyclists, other cars, weird road repairs in progress, etc.
The thing is I don't find it relaxing. I'm always worried the FSD is going to make a mistake. It's a lot more relaxing to just drive as I can do that without even thinking. I find it useful for traffic jams and long highway driving. It's good for those long boring driving sessions.
@GizmoMaltese, that’s certainly understandable. For me though, FSD making occasional mistakes doesn’t particularly bother me. I’m already paying super-close attention anyway, and it’s really easy to intervene if it does do something stupid. Everybody has different reactions, which is fine! For my usage anyway, it does something “stupid”2-3 times per week. Its mistakes are rarely _dangerous_ , but just not right, and again, easy to correct. More frequently, it does what I would call “bad driving style,” and I tell Tesla about those, in hopes they’ll correct it in the future.
@, that’s also very reasonable - the manufacturer taking responsibility. Also, I wasn’t aware that Mercedes took the legal liability; interesting! Again though, so far at least, I have yet to see any case where it’s not extremely easy to intervene in the pretty-rare (but not rare enough!) cases where FSD makes mistakes. On the other hand, if FSD were an actual autonomous driving system (meaning no attention nor corrections required), then yes indeed, I would relax _even more_ if it took the liability. However, FSD _does_ let me relax _a bit_ because it relieves most of the _tedium_ of driving, so that I can concentrate more on the driving situation unfolding around me, searching for sources of danger. That, even though I’m still legally responsible.
@@a5154 Wow, it would be great if Tesla took financial responsibility for any crashes while using FSD. It would show they have confidence in their product.
I just dont understand why you cannot transfer it if you buy a new car. If you pay $8000 to buy it, you should own it and activate it on another car when one upgrade to a new car.
I think they should offer an option to make it transferable once and for a fee. Ultimately they should simplify and only sell periods of time (the subscription model)
I do a 2X monthly drive round trip, Boston to far northern Maine and yes, after dark on I-95, FSD and lane change on Autopilot is basically a no-go for huge sections of the Maine drive.
@@kcchiefsproductions8687 you're probably right, though it does touch a broad scattering of topics, from particle physics to ballistics, bolide impacts, and even strength of materials ...
I just completed two 900 mile trips with FSD. Here are my conclusions => 1. 95% of the time it performed perfectly. 2. 2% of the time it would have caused a probable fatal accident. 3. 3% of the time it performed somewhat unacceptably. So, how did FSD try to kill me 2% of the time ?? Three times it would not permit vehicles to merge in the lane in which I was driving even though there were no vehicles for hundreds of yards in the left lane {U.S. roads}. One of those times a trailer truck was merging and just when the truck was about to side swipe me, I used manual override and swerved into the left lane and permitted the truck to merge. Two times as I was driving, there were several white lines where there should have been only 1. I suppose the road crew had painted the additional lines because of construction and lane shifting. So, maybe it's the road crew's fault, nevertheless, my car chose to follow one of the lines that led in to several trees and not the line that led to the main road. As for the "unacceptable" actions, when it passes a slower vehicle and has passed the vehicle, it will cut too close in front of that vehicle making me feel uncomfortable. Also, it takes sharp curves faster than I like and anything that is laying loose on the seats or dashboard will slide off. Next, in my area there are many steep hills. There are speed limit signs for trucks only. So even though the speed limit for cars is 55 mph, the car will read the truck speed limit sign which is typically 35 mph and slow to that speed at which time I must use manual override to continue at 55 mph. Many times I received a notice on the LED screen that my FSD may be "degraded because one or more of the cameras are obscured." This only happened at night and I believed at first that headlights from vehicles behind me were blinding the camera but that turned out to be false because frequently I was the only car on that section of the road. However, the FSD continued to performed normally despite this warning. I did stop once to make sure there were no bugs or mud covering the lens of the cameras. And, yes, as others have stated, occasionally there is phantom braking. A.S.S. worked almost perfectly.
JJ, another straight forward video and thanks. Another +1 for the multiple profiles and ability to switch Autosteer & FSD. No steering wheel nagging!!(and the FSD crowd truly does go wild!). Yup, improper lane choices, active school zones and avoiding potholes all still need work but soooo much better than it use to be. It now does a notably better job with marked speed bumps too and, especially rotaries, which used to freak FSD out, especially with a new one. And those "degradation" notices are SOP in dim, low light conditions. Helpful hint that Tesla will probably never, ever put in print: With clear four and two way stops, with no cars or conflicts, FSD will allow you to do a rolling stop using a bit of "right foot intervention". Ditto rotaries, where you can smoothly approach and dart into a lane with that bit of RFI. Well done and let's see some more please.
I like the camera setup that you have right now. The center view and then the pip of you talking. Maybe just change the angles sometimes to shake things up. But for me. What you have is all I need.
I have FSD subscription and use it 2 hours daily for my commute. I think the FSD issue at night happens more frequently at night, not because it can't see the lines, but because the camera is occluded by headlights and can't determine distance from the passing car. Reason it works on auto steer is it keeps you in that lane. That being said, FSD at night on those dark highways has gotten much better over the last 6mo.
I'm slowly becoming dependant on FSD. Ya it's silly sometimes when it accelerates too fast or brakes too hard BUT 95% of the time it's just so nice. Now we don't even need to touch the steering wheel which is what we always expected. Currently auto pilot settings are : Chill mode, Limited lane change, hov and toll roads turned off.
My free FSD ends Sunday, and I am pleased enough with it that I am going to do a monthly subscription for a while. I primarily am curious about improvements that are coming. And I want to test smart summon. Self parking is great in my Model X, and is better at parking in the center of a space than I am able to do. I tested FSD when the car was new and didn't trust it. And I tested it again during the last free test and thought it was just ok. This latest free test is a game changer as far as I am concerned.
Hey mate, thanks so much for your videos. Just picked up a new Model Y and the FSD is amazing. Your videos helped me make the decision to buy even though I'm in an apartment. Keep up the content!
I had the same experience. When you go on a road with no lights, your FSD becomes inoperable. Only on city streets where there is light does it work at night.
I tried FSD on my car and the car kept changing lanes nonstop. It went to left lane then wanted to come back to right lane. It realized it couldn't get in so it slammed on the brake and went back to the current lane... on and on. It also accelerate soooo fast in my neighborhood. I never turn it back on ever again. It can be expired yesterday and I wouldn't even care.
What’s so sick about FSD is that we don’t even have to tell them what’s wrong with it, we just drive and the AI training will solve the problems next time. So fully agree it makes errors but it also drives better than a human sometimes
2:00 A caveat regarding minimal lane changes (next drive) (MLC): The stupid setting only lasts until the end of the next drive you do, after which MLC turns back off. SO, I have to remember to turn it back on at the beginning of every drive. On the plus side, one doesn't have to dig through the configuration on the screen, you can call up the "chill-average-aggressive" menu by pushing the right scroll wheel button to the right or left and then touching "Minimal Lane Changes" so, it isn't a big deal to set it, it is just a bother that one must reset it every time you get in the car.
When making a left turn, it’ll start committing, but then halfway through, it suddenly readjusts to avoid hitting the curb. It’s like… just pick a path and stick to it!
FSD is NOT ready yet. I have used it twice, back in April and right now as it has been offered for free for a month to test it. I work many times until late and at night, it fails to get me home from work. It cannot detect the streets correctly by my house since there is no sidewalks in many areas. I even cleaned the front camera (pain in th neck to remove the cover) and have the latest updates. It is NOT ready. I will not pay $8K or $99 a month (subscription) for a system that doesn't work. As an IT systems administrator and computer and network technician, I know very well how computers work. I will wait for at least 4 to 6 more years before I even think about getting it on a future Tesla. Besides, I love to drive, and the Autopilot which is included on all Tesla models at no additional cost does just enough for me on road trips. No need to have FSD. Only reason I would get it is for the summon but is just to be "cool". Not a necessity.
I have a 2024 Model Y with FSD (transferred from my 2020 Model 3). It has HW 4 so no ultrasonic sensors. A few weeks ago I was driving home from northern Michigan and there are long stretches of I-75 that have no ambient light. While FSD was great while driving up north, coming home there were definitely struggles. Holding speed and driving was just fine, but if I encountered a slow car, FSD wouldn't change lanes. I either had to follow the slowpoke, or disengage and go around them. Unfortunately I couldn't re-engage FSD without light from other cars. That part was maddening. As for turning off FSD by changing to regular autopilot, the reason you have to be parked to activate FSD again is because you have to acknowledge that huge disclaimer. Telsa probably doesn't want you reading that disclaimer while driving.
11:15 AMEN! I really didn't think it would make that much difference for me, and I often have at least one hand on the steering wheel, especially in tight, low option situations that could require quick disengagement, or just to dodge armadillo carcusses and popholes, or to keep the car from cutting too tightly on a turn, etc... So I figured that the little bit of other wheel shaking was a minor thing (I've driven about seven thousand miles on three long highway trips this year (most with Autopilot, but it had a similar, "shake me so I know you care" behavior), and didn't find it over-burdensome), but once I started using the new hands free system, wow. you are right!
I've experienced all of the same issues. Majority of the time FSD works just fine. But it's the occasional times that make it really hard for me to justify the subscription...I have better piece of mind when I'm driving myself. Now, if I was a bad driver to begin with....this might actually be helpful.
8:44 Yes AutoPark is great, but is a little too slow. Not a problem when no one is waiting for you to park, but when there is a lot of traffic, I prefer to park more quickly than it will currently park. Maybe a later release will park more expeditiously.
Jeremiah, overall I like the full self driving, except there is a flashing yellow that it will stop at, I take over. Since I use the safe driver app from State Farm it accelerates to quickly, otherwise it drives around town okay, I just adjust the max speed. Anyway I do enjoy your videos and the products I purchased from you!😊
My main impressions of FSD, at least based upon the situations I’ve used it for: * Is it good? Oh yes! * Is it dang impressive? You bet! * Is it flawless? No, you have to keep your eye on it. * Is it ready for fully-autonomous, Level-4 or -5 driving? Heck no! Not even close. It “does the right thing” about 99% of the time (depending on what you count as a “thing” to do right or not), but it needs to be more like 99.99% perfect before it can go into an autonomous taxi system. Getting to 99.99% will take a decade. My main complaints about it are more along the lines of “bad driving” or “bad driving style” than “unsafe driving.” For example, it often takes left turns into the right lane, or the reverse, crossing lanes in the intersection. It also takes really sloppy left turns - starting the turn well before actually entering the intersection, crossing over the double-yellow and entering the destination lane in the left shoulder. It successfully checks such things, so it’s rarely if ever an actual safety issue, and I see human drivers do similar things, but it’s still questionably legal, and just sloppy driving.
maybe with AI they could speed up the process exponentially and we wont have to wait decades. but yeah pretty much agree, its need acouple marching of 9's to trully perfect.
I believe, while traveling on dark roads and the car cabin is dark, the cabin camera can’t see your eyes. FSD will revert back to the nag. FSD does work on dark roads. I, myself, live outside the city and dark night roads are the norm during night drives.
I got the same Tesla model 3 performance as you. Even with the stealth gray. For the first time a few weeks ago I had the same problem on the highway. I had fsd on and it just would not switch lanes. I tried the blinkers myself and it still would not switch lanes. I would get a notification saying limited visibility, the same as yours. I thought something was wrong with my car because I remember it being able to switch lanes and I couldn’t figure out the reason until I came across this video and you mentioned it doing the same thing to you.
Tesla should change how they treat ownership of FSD: for Giga-Expensive Software it should have Giga-Amazing consumer friendly features by default. -Want to sell your tesla? sell it with the FSD or keep it on your account, choice is yours. -Want to sell your tesla and buy another telsa? sell it with the FSD or transfer FSD or keep it on your account. -Have more than one tesla in your immediate family or household? one FSD purchase everyone can use and if you rent a tesla sign in to use the FSD on your account.
12:04 Yes, it has done that twice at 75-80 mph at the same chain station exit on I-25 south of Castle Rock, CO. The first time it was absolutely frightening. It didn't correct itself. The worst part is that the exit is under construction and the exit lane was coned off. I had to slam on the brakes. The second time I was prepared. Now I disengage before I drive by it.
We got our Model Y in August. I'll be honest, I hate the Telsa autopilot/cruise system. I used FSD a little its ok but my big issue is autopilot. Phantom braking is out of control, the car slows down for no reason, its completely inconsistent. I wish Tesla would release basic adaptive cruise that does not do any emergency braking. I like the car, but I wish we kept our Rav4 Hybrid in hindsight.
Same issues you talked about with the nighttime FSD degraded warning on my M3LR over and over again. Really frustrating on empty highways at night - hesitates to change lanes. Even worse and dangerous, on two lane rural roads (1 lane each way), the FSD completely disengages with an oncoming car with a high beam - kind of like the cameras are blinded and cannot "see" the road. It is somewhat dangerous as the car stops suddenly. It has happened to me like 3-4 times in the past week - and I think this is a serious flaw.
10:15 external wide angle views or even 360 views are very cool, but sometimes they can detract, and always take a little bit of time to adjust to watching, at least for me. I imagine the opinions on those are all over the map, though.
FSD at night.....same issue here. Especially on two lane 55mph roads where lighting is very limited. The side cameras just see darkness. Perhaps if they had lights on the sides that illuminated things in such situations that it would engage but then perhaps there are some regulartory or legal safety reasons why they don't. Otherwise, I have to wait until another car is next to me or coming up behind me to light up the road enough for it to see. It does also engage when i go through areas with street lamps. Once engaged, I just leave it to do it's thing.
I just picked up a LR AWD Model 3 with FSD and am loving it! The 0% interest has saved me thousands of dollars. If anyone needs a referral code, mine is in my RUclips Bio!
20:46 I dont know if the radar could interfere with the cameras, but that's what it seems since it was dark before and dark after, but as soon as you put the radar up it started having problems. Could definitely be a coincidence though
Maybe I'm wrong - but I actually bought just Autopilot for my 2018 Model S, not FSD, and the subscriptions for FSD or enhanced Autopilot have disappeared from the selection menu. I am super annoyed about this, because I would have loved to periodically upgrade for trips. So I suppose I will also not get any future invitations. I'm also super dissapointed that this was nowhere to be found in any document that was presented to me before or after the purchase.
Regarding the use of a 360 view camera, if you can get one for cheap then yes it would be nice, both otherwise it is not a must have. I would say your video as they are right now are already very good :)
I hope they bring vision monitoring to standard autopilot. I got the car 2 months ago so I've actually had FSD for free almost the whole time but for the few days I didn't have it, I was sad to see that I had to start turning the wheel to prove I was aware. And the night vision is a known issue. Happens to me too. Apparently the right cameras can't see enough at night and it causes the warning on darker roads.
New FSD update never left from the broken lights. It was hoping to see green lights. This FSD never check which car stop first at stop sign. This update FSD randomly fully stop t lights even when the light turned green.
I have also gotten that warning at night but I haven't used FSD much. I paid for it because it got me 0% apr and its kinda nice to have but the car is still new to me so I really just enjoy driving it. I probably would not have paid $8000 for it otherwise. I do hope they make it transferable.
On the latest software, driving with FSD on and on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic, if I’m going really slow (~8-10mph) and it sees the diamond lane painted on the road it will occasionally suddenly jerk hard left or right trying to avoid it. Extremely scary and concerning.
Glad your experience was better than mine. It looks like you don't mind exceeding the speed limit more than I am. It is horrible. It exceeds the speed limit by 10 easy even though I have it set not to. Your disengagement of the wrong lane usage didn't make your review. This is one of FSD's biggest faults. When I am using it, I'm constantly putting it in the correct lane for the destination. FSD sometimes picks the right lane but many times it does not. It has even made illegal double lane changes or missed the turn because of it. It misses speed signs all the time. I am not going to install a police scanner so to use the system. I wish you had been more honest with your acknowledgement of the errors at the end of your video.
Time stamp 19:23. Your comment about light. You live in the sticks. Come to LA or any large city. There are lights all over. Some people even forget to turn their headlights on because of the over population of light. I drove the FSD twice over the weekend. It is jerky, it is disconcerting how it pulls turns and brakes or accelerates. In a heavy populated area like LA, FSD will not work in it's current form in heavily populated areas. Driving in a county with 20 thousand people to get to Walmart, sure it can almost drive there. Driving in a county with 3.88 million people is another thing. Do a road trip to California Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego. Chicago, New York and test FSD. Then come back and tell me 99 dollars a month to drive in those areas make sense.
Can you please do a video if/when you receive FSD v12.5.6.2? This includes the End-to-end on highway stack. Edit: It will also include the Speed Profiles setting.
Not getting FSD for 8k or $100 mthly because it needs to be autonomous for folks over 50. Can’t rely on this technology to be flawless until it becomes fine tuned.
Yes, at night on an interstate it's finicky is the way I would put it. Just keep trying. With the old FSD (a couple months ago, the v11 version) I'd just hold the turn signal and eventually (after not very long) it'd make the lane change. With the new end-to-end v12 I've not had a long trip, but it's likely the same. Also, I'd never buy the FSD. The whole idea of it not being transferable is a stupid board-room decision to gain money for the stockholders, who in my opinion having been a longtime stockholder is dumb. Tesla doesn't pay dividends. But, Tesla makes a smart car but continually makes inconsiderate decisions that aren't friendly to the drivers. Like a headrest that you can't adjust. That stupid yoke only option for a while. The lack of a stock to use forward/reverse. And on, anyway, FSD is a game-changer for long distance trips even with the occasional break checking of truckers.
Personally, I don't think FSD is worth much if it's not unsupervised. I'm an older driver, and there will likely come a point where I don't enjoy driving, and my senses will be less acute. FSD would be desirable at that stage. At the moment, I really don't see the point in having to babysit something that's like a learner driver. Out on the freeway it would be ok, but in traffic, I think it would be more stressful than just driving the car myself.
4:45 - I am *_not_* a fan of FSD taking sloppy left turns - starting them before truly enter the intersection, crossing over the double-yellow line. A year ago or so, I took a (legal) U-turn at an intersection, and the guy behind me almost crashed T-boned me, because he started a left turn before entering the intersection!
I've been looking for this comment! I was on version 12.5.4.1 and in the span of 2 days I got version 12.5.4.2, and now I'm on version 12.5.6.3 as of today. The difference between 12.5.4.2 and 12.5.6.3 is actually noticeable and really makes me believe that it's nearly fully autonomous. The biggest change is the end-to-end on highway driving, where they finally are using the same AI training on the highway as in the city. No more jerky steering, hesitance, or weird lane changes on the highway.
I've been playing with mine the past couple of weeks. But I don't trust it 100% because if I hit something or someone I'm ultimately responsible so I can't just sit back an never intervene. Also what if FSD makes a illegal maneuver and I get pulled over. Is the officer going to let me go because it was FSD's fault. I'm betting probably not. So there's a fine line between my responsibility and FSD's?
360 is not that important. I like the face cam. I think mostly people want to see reaction, and as much windshield view as possible. but yeah dont overcomplicated it, commentary and visibilty are the most important thing, and eveyrthing is just added production.
Are the gen2 floor mats different other than the Velcro backing? I noticed the section on driver side mat has the rectangle section with horizontal lines in this video where the pictures on the website are diagonal .
It "works" if all you want is getting from point A from point B but the way it drives annoy the hell out of me and other drivers on the road. Last week, it exited a freeway and needed to turn left; and once it realized that it got into the wrong lane, it literally tried to force itself the turn lane and the guy behind honked at me. It is amazing from a technology point of view but it still not good enough and definitely not worth the $8000 asking price. Unsupervised FSD is fake-it-till-you-make-it.
@JremiahJones I've been wanting to ask you, can you please comment on which autopilot profile is the best (chill, average or assertive) and why in your experience? Thanks!
I have had it stop in the middle of the road at 45, slow down to like 15 and then start again, no idea why? Also on the flashing reds before it turns green arrow, it stops and stalls and takes a while before it goes again
2:17 I leave the "Automatic Speed setting" off. I leave it off because some of the time FSD wants to go too fast or too slow, so I prefer to be able to manage the speed myself. I do try out the Auto Speed option with each update, though, just in case they fixed it.
@@nelzo1703 thanks... this is the first time ive seen someone have the night issue. If it isn't a weird issue with his car and all of them do it hopefully V13 will improve it.
It is because this version is still using version 11 on highway. On the newer 12.5.6.3 it uses version 12 on highway (a.k.a. end-to-end on highways in the release notes).
There's a few occasions where you say "it should not have done that." Or "I would have done something different".... I wonder if it's because you have it set to "Assertive." Let me know your thoughts.
you'll probably need to do another of these videos soon because version 13 is close enough and it's supposed to be another leap forward, both in interventions / mile and for capabilities, like starting a ride exiting a parking spot automatically, arriving to your destination and park automatically too. It should include reverse too
I don’t really understand these FSD videos currently as we all have FSD at this point and can come to our own conclusions. There’s a sad enthusiastic RUclipsr that does nothing else than repeated unprotected left turns, when any of us currently can have first hand experience doing that. Having said that, I did appreciate it that your experience was similar to mine: a lot of good stuff, but also makes some bad mistakes. I do like the autopark and changing lanes by using the blinkers. For the time being, I think FSD is only for enthusiasts. I’m waiting for something that is pretty close to bulletproof. I stopped using it as I found it too stressful needing to be hypervigilant to take over at a moment’s notice. I’ll stick with standard Autopilot that I find helpful for long highway drives or stop and go highway traffic.
My 3rd FSD trial. Still too many issues for me. Always wants to move to right lane, but I know it will become a Right turning lane, then gets half way into the turn lane and has to move left to go straight, cutting people off. Was at double left turn green arrows, no other cars in intersection and steering wheel did the left right wiggle..had to disengage. Accelerates to fast for short sprints to next light and has to utilize brakes more instead of gentle motor deceleration. I like parallel park and parking lot parking and regular auto pilot for highways. FSD does not make me feel "at ease" in local busy intersection traffic. Turn Signal in round abouts..boo..
It is because it is using version 11 on highway and version 12 in the city. In the newer version 12.5.6.3 it uses end-to-end on highway or in other words version 12. It is night and day in how it behaves.

I'm slightly kidding. You have one of the most amazing cars ever in human history and your tone is like eh its fine
You need people like him who are realistic. People overhype things way too much which in turn creates fomo consumerism.
❤
@GizmoMaltese, that’s certainly understandable.
@@GizmoMaltese just trust it
@@a5154 Wow, it would be great if Tesla took financial responsibility for any crashes while using FSD. It would show they have confidence in their product.
I just dont understand why you cannot transfer it if you buy a new car. If you pay $8000 to buy it, you should own it and activate it on another car when one upgrade to a new car.
I largely agree, but it does increase the Blue-book value of the car upon re-sale, because it does follow the car.
@@mr88cetNot by much
@@toology55, Bluebook goes up by a few thousand, but certainly not what we pay for it.
I think they should offer an option to make it transferable once and for a fee. Ultimately they should simplify and only sell periods of time (the subscription model)
It's better to pay the monthly subscription rather than a full purchase.
I do a 2X monthly drive round trip, Boston to far northern Maine and yes, after dark on I-95, FSD and lane change on Autopilot is basically a no-go for huge sections of the Maine drive.
9:54 "Hit Something for Science!" Sounds like a great name for a channel.
I disagree. Sounds like a good title to a video though.
Maybe I'm wrong I just can't picture it as a channel name.
@@kcchiefsproductions8687 you're probably right, though it does touch a broad scattering of topics, from particle physics to ballistics, bolide impacts, and even strength of materials ...
Amazing video quality. The frequent commentary helps a lot to keep interest. It was cool seeing your experience with it!
Do you have HW3 or 4?
@@erikral I have a 2024 Model 3 standard range with Hardware 4.
@ Well, that makes sense. Completing 900 miles with nearly the entire thing being problem-free makes sense on HW4.
Wheres the video
@@Dontslaythybroski You don't need a video. My description is sufficiently clear.
just bought a 2020 that had fsd snd premium connectivity for life of the vehicle. love it every software upgrade makes it more valuable
Agree!
Its really nice on long highway trips
Do you have “minimal lane change” on ?
Mine stays on 1 lane majority of my trip when i use fsd & i turn that feature on
What’s so sick about FSD is that we don’t even have to tell them what’s wrong with it, we just drive and the AI training will solve the problems next time.
I'm glad they surfaced that button there too. It's quick to set, at least.
So sick that you brought up the solution rather than just being a complainer haha respect
I haven’t noticed that that setting makes all that much difference.
So robotaxi won't work at night?
You should be able to change lanes just by putting on the turn signal
@@GizmoMalteseit should they showed it driving at night. Plus it might have a more sophisticated hardware for the robotaxi.
Anyway I do enjoy your videos and the products I purchased from you!😊
little birdie cam would be cool but otherwise I really enjoy these videos. your very realistic and your channel really shows it it really works
My main impressions of FSD, at least based upon the situations I’ve used it for:
* Is it good?
Great contents. How do you install the radar wires and kept as a clean setup? Any video on this?
12:10 Tesla’s FSD has fixed the issue with lanes widening since v12 release. The basic Auto Pilot still has this known issue.
Great fsd vid! Btw Best Buy didnt refund the xbox?
12:46 this was way too funny for some reason
Same issues you talked about with the nighttime FSD degraded warning on my M3LR over and over again. Really frustrating on empty highways at night - hesitates to change lanes. Even worse and dangerous, on two lane rural roads (1 lane each way), the FSD completely disengages with an oncoming car with a high beam - kind of like the cameras are blinded and cannot "see" the road. It is somewhat dangerous as the car stops suddenly. It has happened to me like 3-4 times in the past week - and I think this is a serious flaw.
Same issues at night in very dark stretches, if FSD goes now to $2-3k I would buy it after this preview
Wait until you try the latest version 12.5.6.3, it is night and day on how it behaves in the city and on the highway!
If I was using FSD yesterday I would not have gotten the ticket 65 in a 45 in Duluth Ga.
Regarding the use of a 360 view camera, if you can get one for cheap then yes it would be nice, both otherwise it is not a must have. I would say your video as they are right now are already very good :)
Hey! Quick question, where are you getting your winter wheels?
19:35 Going 81 in a 55 is actually crazy 😭
Do you sell at Tesstuff those rim protectors so you don’t scratch your rims?
12:10 YES. I hate when mine does this and it does it every single time.
If you take over is the only way to shut fsd off is by taping the brake?
12.5.4.1 isn't end-to-end on highway yet, right? So that's just old Autopilot.
You are correct! I just received version 12.5.6.3 today and the difference on the highway is night and day on this newer version.
On the latest software, driving with FSD on and on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic, if I’m going really slow (~8-10mph) and it sees the diamond lane painted on the road it will occasionally suddenly jerk hard left or right trying to avoid it. Extremely scary and concerning.
Have I seen a Destiny poster in your office where you do some videos?
Autopilot and FSD are entirely separate systems. FSD is still miles away from everyday usable.
Also yes, FSD for me move over to the right when the lane widens. Very annoying. In general, it stays way too far to the right of any lane for me
Time stamp 19:23.
What's you setting for hands free? Mine is always asking for hands on the wheel. Thanks!
Wait till you try 12.5.6.1 or newer. It is a game changer
I have the same issue at night on dark highways. frustrating.
It works so well for me I would’ve payed double. But I drive a shyte load.
Your voice is very satisfying
I find it super concerning that tesla will allow their FSD to go beyond the legal speed limit
FSD should be transferable with 8k price or make it 2k -3k if not
@JeremiahJones, Is that bright light the dome lights from inside the car at 24:00? If so, that is bright! lol
Its been pretty horrendous for me. Ive had 4 major interventions where the car either freaked out or tried to blow red lights
@jremiahjones - was hardwiring your radar detector difficult, and do you know if it voids warranty?
Yes do a VR 360
You have Hardware 3?
No, this is a 2024 Model 3 performance, so it would be on hardware 4.
I do the same thing. Hopefully a future update will improve it.
Are you on HW3 or 4? maybe that is a part of the night issue.. I heard you say HW4 is supposed to be better but which one do you have?
It's HW4
@@nelzo1703 thanks... this is the first time ive seen someone have the night issue. If it isn't a weird issue with his car and all of them do it hopefully V13 will improve it.
It is because this version is still using version 11 on highway. On the newer 12.5.6.3 it uses version 12 on highway (a.k.a. end-to-end on highways in the release notes).

my barber has been out of town this month and I feel like a caveman
Any rattles update?
There's a few occasions where you say "it should not have done that." Or "I would have done something different".... I wonder if it's because you have it set to "Assertive." Let me know your thoughts.
Try it at mid day with all the shadows. It sucks for me.
you'll probably need to do another of these videos soon because version 13 is close enough and it's supposed to be another leap forward, both in interventions / mile and for capabilities, like starting a ride exiting a parking spot automatically, arriving to your destination and park automatically too.
What type of cop radar does he use?
Uniden r7
Nah its not just you. I get that problem at night with the degraded fsd.
Can I have the Xbox? All I have is a PC, I'm thankful for it but could totally use a Xbox. 😂 But seriously. Best Buy doesn't need it. ❤
Should not be any reason it can't handle things at night on freeway.....call Tesla support.
It is because it is using version 11 on highway and version 12 in the city. In the newer version 12.5.6.3 it uses end-to-end on highway or in other words version 12. It is night and day in how it behaves.
