Looks like a cool tool to help me pass the time while I am stuck indoors recovering. I think i will get one.
Ive owned one several years actually gifted Dave C. his it is always in my belt pouch. Thumbs up.
yup it never leaves my body
Well done and a nice knife for making utensils and actually alot of tasks really. thanks for sharing and sweet review.
Back in the days when I was working with wood all we have was a set of chisels for carving and of course there was 1 or 2 missing from the set. Definitely a most have if you are in to carving wood or plaster!
I have been looking for a tool like that for a long time. Definitely on my buy list. Great video as always!
thanks bro if you get one of these let me know id like to see what you make and what you think of the tool
very nice
i was unaware of those
thanks for showing me that
I have used flexcut tools for years now and they can make some great working triggers for traps and a slue of other bushcraft task a snap.
Holy crap! That thing would have a ton of uses in many situations. Edge maintenance was my only concern and then you showed the block it comes with. For what I would use it for, that can replace my roll-up carving set in my pack. Excellent. Good gravy, why didn't you review this a long time ago? Lol. Thanks Will!
Cool knife.
thanks bro
for long term survival, that's the best tool possible to have in your pocket. Very few today realize how much small whittling and carving is needed for long term survival. The traditional tool for such tasks is a three bladed stockman, or a four bladed congress.
Too many today carry a single bladed pocket knife, which is stupid for long term survival. Most carry a Leatherman, which is a fine tool, but also can't do a large number of whittling and carving tasks that will eventually be needed.
If you just can't stand buying this tool, at least get a good stockman or congress model pocket knfe. Your life, and certainly your comfort, will depend on it, if you're even in a long term survival situation.
Nice review! Thanks for the heads up on that tool.
It was nice meeting you at the Spring meet up in Tennessee. Thanks for the tips on carving, my spoon came out really good. Hope to see you in future gatherings.

you finally added the extra w in the web address at the end:) Good video Will.
Hi William, thanks for the review. I've been interested in this knife for a little bit. I've started bringing a small set of carving knives and gouges along when I got out just for small tasks. They are a lot more handy than I thought. Have you ever seen/looked into the Mora chisel tipped knife?? I believe this maybe a bushcraft hidden gem. Thanks again.
Chris would be trying to baton wood with it.
lol good luck with that
+William Myers MantisOutdoors ...The knives have a small stroke in the open position ?,I will be grateful if you answer
It was in May 2016
ok so are you still enjoying this tool.
I need that!!
Great tool for fine work like spoons, etc.... I would still use my larger, main knife for most of the heavy roughing work so as to save the fine, razor edge on the carving blade on this one and then use this just to do the finish work.Right and left hand can be confusing......I think they specify "hand" assuming you are carving towards yourself, so a right handed tool will be held in the right hand carving towards your body. If you want to carve away from yourself with the right hand holding the tool you want a left and vice/versa if you are left handed. I always prefer to cut away and use my opposite hand's thumb to help push and guide the tool as I cut away and feel it gives me more control.
Hey Will good video...I have one of those it is really good, but must be careful closing that thing it will cut you!!! :-) Take Care enjoy you guys...vids.
Ed Airborne!!!
Great review as usual.
How are the ergonomics for longer tasks?
Some of the sets are almost the same price but have better handles. Obviously, having them all in one package is worth a lot but only if the hotspots from the multi tool design minor enough to allow for longer tasks.
Do you have a link so you can benefit from our purchases? I will be buying something soon and would like to have someone I respect benefit.
carving wood mask with that tool :)
Was checking these out just this morning. Is that model the right hand version? South paw here.
yes this is the right handed model go to www.woodcraft.com they have both right and left for a ok price
William Myers MantisOutdoors Its left handed if you are a Carve Toward you guy, its a Right handed if you are a Carve Away from you guy, and then vise versa on the right handed. They are "set" for Carve Toward. I bought the right handed but I carve away from myself.
i think i gonna carv faces in wood with my carving jack :) or other artistique things
look into the handy-sharp to re-edge this tool. it's a tungsten carbide sharpener that even sharpens hoof knives. www.handysharp.com/
carbide sharpeners would be to aggressive and remove to much steel for this tool
Where can I get one Will?
www.woodcraft.com
