It's something that is happening right now. It is coming of age. It's like the kid who no one noticed in high school but shows up to the reunion and everyone's like daaaayum who is this.
The 996 is becoming very collectable with prices rising rapidly. There is more to the C4S than the Turbo body panels, it uses the Turbo brakes, suspension and steering, also a solid copy of the hollow type Turbo wheels. Don't reject a Tiptronic car, the gearbox is nowhere near as bad as people suggest.
Yep fully agree, the C4S is one which has always caught my attention, very much like the tweaks it has over other models. Can't comment on the tiptronic myself but thats good to hear!
@@FootToPedal I have a Tip (not by choice) and it's a solid gearbox, much better than expected. Really, really needs a paddle shift conversion to be usable though.
I have an all original 1999 996 C4 cab, with only 29K miles and it is a wonderful car. I don’t understand the haters, it’s a pretty to look at and great driving car. Seriously over-built and thus extremely durable, fun, sophisticated, yet objectively fairly extreme car.
Sadly these are now dropping in value the only thing keeping the price up artificially is the advertising prices as buyers came in at a late stage and will now definitely lose money quickly. We buy and sell 911 of all models & spec.
The Tiptronic is a good box. Strong, and reliable. I can understand why people may choose a manual, fair enough, but I haven't seen any cogent arguments against the Tiptronic that, as some have stated, it is 'rubbish'. Why?
I think most people prefer the engagement of a manual in these cars, I've never experienced the tiptronic gearbox personally, but I know it's not the sharpest of gearboxes. That doesn't mean it's bad though, a lot of the time it's just personal preference and I'm sure people exaggerate how bad it really is
The Tiptronic has very long gears, even worse than the manual and the spacing between the gearing is quite long too, makes it quite slow and definitely not fit for a so called ‘sports car’
I would think that seeing as this is a water-cooled engine the fans should be placed at the front, where the rads are! Why not open the engine lid to aid engine bay cooling? 🤔 Hope it wasn't overheating 😮!
Thanks for your content👍 buy a good Mezger engined 996 and switch the suspension to a updated quality set and one will be the happiest driver around. Trust me the 996 is not the least loved anymore😅🤟😍
@@FootToPedal The fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter if it's a narrow body, wide body, C2 or C4. Metzger or M96. Coupe or cab, tip or manual; buy a 996. ANY 996. Drive it, love it, live happily ever after!
They are not in any way a proper sports car; the gearing is far too long, every gear last ages to get through, I find they feel quite slow as a result. They have heavy flywheels so don’t Rev anything like how a Ferrari does, the throttle is slow to respond, and the they feel very ‘diluted’ as if it’s been subdued for the mass market of idiot ms that have no clue about cars. Sure they handle well, but the drivetrain is a real let down, the 996 Carrera engines respond poorly to any modifications apart from a light flywheel. This will shock you but I turbocharged a mk1 Eunos Roadster and it was far more fun than the 996 I got afterwards, diluted and soft, a GT perhaps, certainly not a proper sports car.
C4S was actually faster around the track when tested than the C2, but honestly it’s irrelevant. Enjoy the car and the look you prefer. They are all great.
Unpopular opinion:
I think the 996 is one of the best lookings 911's out there. It has a really pretty face.
Yeah I personally think it's a great looking car

Having owned an air cooled and currently a 996, I like the way both of them look.
Especially the 996.1
me too .. i don’t understand why they hate it
even the fry egg headlight looks unique than the other 911’s

I've always liked the 996... Esp. based on the prices when I used to window shop for them a few years back!
Yeah I think they offer great value for money and make a great sound too! Seem like very versatile cars that'd be good to live with 👍
@@FootToPedal It's still on my dream short list, thought I admit I have added the 997 as well, haha.
😂 yeah I love the 997 also, an early 997 Carrera S would be nice
Just snagged a 2004 C4S in Slate Grey. A unicorn
I bet its beautiful

That's great to hear! Very low mileage example you have there too
Beautifully made video. I'm not sure which corner of the internet you have been hiding in, but I hope many others un-earth you!
Very much appreciated, thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks for your job !!

996very good car very reliable

Ah, damn! 😅 while typing this comment to a previous power run vid, this one started playing 😂 I think it was ahemgee?
I thought this model has 320 bhp not 350 as mentioned?
How come your mate did not let you drive. Sad. :(
Not always possible due to insurance reasons so we did our best with what we could film!

Thanks for your nicer comment this time around. Yes we are fans of this car (hence the video) and understand that it's not unloved by all or anymore 👍
What exhaust is that using?
I think totally standard
@@FootToPedal sounded a little rougher than stock. presume either a PSE or gundo/fister modded
Sounds exactly like the factory PSE I have on mine
I love my narrow body C2!!
The C4/C4s & Turbo all drive sort of boring. Great highway cars, but they don't feel as "peppy" or agile as a C2 🤷♂️
That's fair enough, I get the appeal of the narrow body 911's!

The 4s is my least favourite version, it’s just overpriced compared the the standard version, it’s slower, heavier, less handling finesse.
That's fair, I mean the beauty of 911s is that there's something for everyone in the lineup
